When I went to Kyoto, I wanted to try yuba cuisine, so I made a reservation at this restaurant. It is located just a little over a 5-minute walk from Nijo Castle. You can enjoy yuba dishes that you don't usually have the opportunity to eat. The yuba sashimi, in particular, was exquisite. Thank you for the meal.

I love yuba (tofu skin) so much. When I visited Kyoto, I wanted to eat yuba from the beginning to the end, so I went to this restaurant where you can enjoy a yuba course at the counter. The seating was limited, but the staff served each dish slowly and carefully. The yuba was prepared and served in various ways, and I couldn't help but ask for seconds. I also bought some yuba simmered in soy sauce as a souvenir. In addition to the food, the plum wine was also delicious, so I plan to look for it.

I used it for lunch on the second day of my trip. I was able to make a reservation by phone just before, which was good. It was either the basic course or the course, but I started with freshly made yuba at the counter with beer, and ended with yuba tsukudani, which was delicious.

I wanted to eat temari sushi in Kyoto, but I didn't make a reservation and couldn't get in. While walking around, I found a nearby restaurant and luckily they had one seat available. I ordered the course meal and the yuba dishes, and everything was delicious. I was impressed and would love to go back again.

I visited this restaurant during my Kyoto sightseeing trip on a regular night. It was located very close to Nijo Castle, where I had just watched a projection mapping show. I had made a reservation in advance for the "Dinner Yuba Course with 10 dishes for 7,800 yen" through another website. The course included the following: - Special Yuba - Seasonal dish - Yuba sashimi (2 types) - Yuba and seasonal vegetables grilled on a ceramic plate - Sweet Yuba salad with leaves of the Yuba tree - Yuba hot pot (small) - Soy milk porridge - Bamboo shoot Yuba simmered in soy sauce - Soup - Yuba soy milk pudding. I love Yuba, so I was very satisfied with all the dishes. Even though I was full, I didn't feel guilty because Yuba is considered healthy. The restaurant was quite small and the tables were close together, which was a bit distracting. However, the restaurant did not get too crowded as they staggered reservations. The staff were very friendly and made the dining experience enjoyable. I would definitely love to visit this restaurant again when I come back to Kyoto.

Living in the Kanto region, I don't have many opportunities to try yuba dishes. I visited "Kyoto Yuba Restaurant Shizuka" before going to Nijo Castle for lunch. It's a small restaurant with only a counter, which I found to be quite nice. As the name suggests, all the dishes were yuba-based. The gentle flavors were comforting. I highly recommend adding the "Yuba Ankake Rice" for an additional charge!

I walked to the restaurant as it was near my home. It's a small place with about 10 counter seats. I had the lunch set for 2800 yen. I also added a tofu pudding for an extra 300 yen. The sauces and miso served with the dishes were delicious and complemented the tofu well. The grilled tofu on a ceramic plate had a nice buttery aroma and was very tasty.

Located just a 1-minute walk from Nijojo-mae Station on the Tozai Line, this restaurant is right next to Kansen-en. With only 9 counter seats, it can get crowded or have temporary closures, so it's recommended to call ahead to confirm. Credit card payment is accepted. I tried the Seasonal Yuba Course for dinner, priced at ¥6,500 (drinks are extra). Each dish had a gentle and delicious flavor, from sashimi to grilled items, allowing me to enjoy various types of yuba. The proprietress was very attentive and made the experience enjoyable from start to finish. The plum wine was easy to drink with a taste similar to plum liqueur. Currently, in accordance with COVID-19 measures in Kyoto Prefecture, dinner service is until 9:30 PM, and alcohol service has resumed. Groups of up to 4 people are allowed, and conversation should be done with masks on while eating. Please note that there is no dedicated parking lot nearby.

I visited a restaurant specializing in yuba dishes for lunch. I was surprised to find that it was a small restaurant with only 9 counter seats, just like the size of Kyoto. Inside the counter, there were two women, especially one beautiful woman who seemed to be the owner, cooking. Some customers who came after us were turned away because the restaurant was fully booked. It must be popular. I later found out online that the main branch is in Miyama. No wonder, the first dish was served in a bamboo container shaped like a thatched roof house. It was stylish. We ordered the Yuba Set Meal for 2800 yen, added rice as an option, and also had dessert. The contents included the famous Scooped Yuba, Fresh Yuba Sashimi, Grilled Yuba on a ceramic plate (Yuba Steak), Yuba Salad, Yuba Rice in a Sauce, and Soy Milk Pudding. The first Scooped Yuba was indeed delicious. The sashimi had one piece with a seared touch, which added an interesting flavor. The Yuba Rice in a Sauce was tasty. It was healthy but satisfying enough for a full stomach.

Visited around 13:30☺︎ I didn't know the area well, but it's close to a tourist spot, Nijo Castle. The restaurant had a small, cozy atmosphere. We walked in without a reservation and were the only customers, so we sat at the counter with four people. I don't remember the menu since it was a while ago, but we ordered a course. The dishes were made with yuba (tofu skin), so they were very healthy. Even when eating a course, there was no guilt at all. It was a hot day, so the light meal was perfect. I think men might find it a bit lacking, but personally, I was satisfied(^_^)

It is a small restaurant with only 9 counter seats. The menu consists of "Yuba Special" with 9 dishes for 4,870 yen, including two types of Yuba hot pot, Yuba sashimi, Yuba steak, Yuba salad, Yuba shabu-shabu, DIY tofu, Miyama drum simmered dish, rice, bamboo Yuba tsukudani, and soy milk pudding. Behind the narrow counter, there are a rice cooker and a single burner stove where one busy staff member works. The Yuba dishes were unique and delicious. The staff member's enthusiastic sales pitch for the soy milk soap sold by the restaurant was quite intense and left a strong Kansai impression. It was a culture shock experience for a person from Tokyo.

I visited a tofu restaurant near Nijo Castle in Kyoto on a whim. I had tried yuba (tofu skin) many times before, so it didn't really impress me, but I enjoyed the variety of ways it was served. The tofu made with nigari after having yuba shabu-shabu was especially delicious, with a nice sweetness to it. I'm not sure if the prices were reasonable for yuba, but it's worth a visit to try the tofu.

I have taken many people to various restaurants, but the one that always comes back is Shizuka-san's place. My friends always want to go there when they visit Kyoto. Even though they may look similar at first glance, the taste, aroma, and texture are completely different when you eat them, and Shizuka-san kindly explains each dish to us. The yuba made from Japanese non-genetically modified soybeans is carefully handmade by the female owner's father early in the morning, and then sent directly from Miyama to our mouths. It's a luxury to taste the natural flavor directly in our bodies. Nishijin was also good, but this counter-style restaurant where you can eat while looking at the female owner's face is very satisfying. I heard there is also a restaurant in Miyama. I would like to drive there in the spring. I can even try freshly made scooped yuba there. The yuba porridge in retort packaging was also very delicious with a gentle flavor.

A small restaurant with a few counter seats. It seems like a branch near Nijo Castle. With a few seats within view, you can receive detailed advice from the proprietress and enjoy your meal in perfect condition. By the time you leave the restaurant, you will probably have become knowledgeable about yuba. Overall, I found it a bit lacking. I recommend it for women or vegetarians. Thank you for the meal.

I stopped by a specialty shop for yuba near Nijo Castle in Kyoto. This shop only has a counter and offers simple courses to taste yuba. Yuba is said to be tasteless on its own, but here you can try it with various flavors. The well-balanced dishes, including yuba and tofu, left me feeling satisfied. I could tell that the cooking was done properly, and the food was delicious. The taste was unforgettable.

[Menu] "Lunch" - Drinking soy milk: Refreshing and smooth, could use a bit more of the unique soy milk aroma. - Scooped yuba: A refreshing snack that makes you want to have it with alcohol, perfect for hot days. - Sashimi yuba: Chewy with a firm texture, the soybean flavor seeps out more as you chew. - Yuba steak: Refreshing, but I questioned the naming as "steak." - Yuba salad: The crispy fried yuba adds a nice touch, but personally, I wanted a softer texture with the vegetables. - Miyama drums: The texture of this yuba was good, elegant compared to thin fried tofu. - Yuba shabu-shabu: Hmm, not sure about this one. It's delicious, but I wanted a bit more elegance. - Homemade tofu: As a fan of cotton tofu, the slightly rough texture was just right. It was a fun experience to make it yourself with nigari added in front of you. - Bamboo yuba tsukudani: A unique tsukudani that you wouldn't know is yuba unless told. It was finely chopped, more like furikake than tsukudani. It paired well with rice, and the atmosphere of eating it here in Kyoto added some points. - Soy milk pudding: Smooth texture, delicate sweetness, I wanted another one. There aren't many lunch options within walking distance from Nijo Castle if you're looking to eat something Kyoto-style. However, Shizuka is a good choice as it's close to Horikawa Oike intersection. The interior is small with only a counter, and the female manager is knowledgeable about yuba (tofu skin) and very friendly. The yuba, which is delivered fresh every morning from Miyama Town, has a subtle sweetness and tastes delicious even on its own. The yuba steak cooked with butter is unique and tasty, especially when paired with summer vegetables. The homemade tofu made with nigari after enjoying yuba shabu-shabu is also delicious. The simmered dish with yuba in a bamboo basket style is a must-try, especially the inner part called Yurine. The lunch and dinner courses are the same, but lunch is slightly cheaper, so I recommend going for lunch.
