You can experience a unique set of mitarashi dango and matcha tea by Ine Bay. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon at a cafe in Ine Funaya, where sightseeing taxi boats dock. The combination of the sea breeze, the slight sweetness of the mitarashi, and the aroma of the sea made for a leisurely holiday afternoon.

This is a photogenic shop I found while sightseeing in Ine. It is a shop renovated from a boathouse, so there is a space where you can enjoy the view and take a break in the boat garage area. There are boards resembling speech bubbles and Instagram frames, perhaps to make it Instagram-worthy. I have written a blog about my visit to Ine, so please take a look if you are interested: https://ichico888x.com/inefunaya/. Whether you want to just gaze at the view or enjoy taking photos, this is a relaxing shop. If you're lucky, enjoy your time in the seats by the boat garage. The rice cake and matcha set for 500 yen is quite cost-effective, don't you think?

I traveled to the Hokuriku region during the consecutive holidays. I visited a quaint fishing village on the Tango Peninsula, about a 30-minute drive from the scenic spot of "Amanohashidate." Along the Ine Bay, there is a row of weathered "boat houses" that evoke a sense of nostalgia. During my stroll, I found a sweet shop renovated from a boat house. It retains the original atmosphere of the boat house while providing a relaxing space. The second floor, produced by the Yuya hot spring inn in Oku Ine, is an accommodation space with an open-air bath. I sat on a bench at "sea level 0m," overlooking the quiet sea, and ordered a "matcha set" for 500 yen. In about 5 minutes, matcha and mitarashi dango were brought to me. The beautifully green matcha had a slightly bitter and deep flavor. The handmade dango had a pleasant texture with just the right amount of elasticity. The glossy "kudzu bean paste" had a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness, complementing the matcha extremely well. The matcha I enjoyed at the northern tip of Kyoto Prefecture had a taste and aroma that exuded elegance.

Matcha set for 500 yen, tea set for 350 yen. We ordered two boat taxis for 1000 yen each (30 minutes) and boarded from the shop. The lady owner was very friendly.

You can enjoy tea while looking out at the sea, so the location is fantastic! The dumplings are just average, but that's okay because you can relax and wait for the water taxi to come (¥1000). Just being here is worth it. You can also ask to be dropped off here when you take the water taxi, just let them know when you board. It's guaranteed to be a fun time!

It's a cafe with a great atmosphere on the waterfront in Ine, a short walk from the bus stop. When I visited, the weather was changing and it rained occasionally, so I took shelter from the rain. Inside, there was one large table and one table facing the bay. There were also some outdoor seating options, but it didn't seem like they could accommodate large groups. I had a coffee and cheesecake set. The quality was okay. The cheesecake was a bit disappointing. It's a nice place to relax while enjoying the view of the bay.

After enjoying a meal while looking at the funaya houses, we stopped by "Ga" for some tea. The interior of the shop, which is a renovated funaya house, has a stylish feel with hints of the past. The area where the sea used to come in is now covered with concrete. This may be the shop's way of encouraging customers to go outside and enjoy the view. I ordered a coffee, while my partner got a matcha set (with mitarashi dango). While waiting, we went outside to admire the funaya houses on the opposite bank and listen to the seagulls. The sun occasionally peeked through the clouds, illuminating the calm sea surface. When our drinks arrived, we sat on chairs with red felt inside the shop. We enjoyed our hot coffee and matcha, occasionally picking up a skewer of mitarashi dango and once again admiring the view. A couple who arrived later went outside to capture the beautiful scenery with their smartphones and tablets. Well, we were able to relax for a bit. Shall we leave Ine town soon? Next, let's head to that place I've been wanting to visit. Thank you for the meal. (^-^)/ Cheers!

Ine no Funaya Miyabi is a charming small Japanese cafe located in Ine on the Tango Peninsula in Kyoto. My husband suddenly wanted to eat "Ine's rock oysters" and without any reservations or research, we decided to drive from Osaka for a few hours. As expected, being careless was not a good idea. However, we decided to make the best of it and take a sightseeing boat tour around Ine Bay before looking for a place to have tea. We stumbled upon Ine no Funaya Miyabi, a cafe housed in a renovated boat garage with a unique charm. The cafe overlooks the sea, offering a clear view of the high transparency water where you can see starfish and fish swimming. The space is small as it used to accommodate only one small fishing boat, but the coziness adds to its appeal. We ordered a matcha tea with sweets for 500 yen, and it was a special experience enjoying it while gazing at the sea. While discussing whether to take a boat tour, we found out that we could call for a "sea taxi" that offers tours around Ine Bay. We immediately took the opportunity and were picked up right in front of the cafe. The boat ride on Kamejima Maru was fantastic, with the boatman providing interesting and informative commentary about Ine Bay and the boat garages. We even got to interact with seabirds, making it a fun experience. After a 30-minute tour, we were dropped back at the cafe. The owner of "Miyabi" is also associated with the traditional inn "Aburaya," and they offer accommodation on the second floor for one group. Next time, we will make sure to make a reservation and come back to try Ine's rock oysters. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

Recently, Ine's boat houses have become famous, but due to its rural location, there are not many restaurants in the area. In such a situation, this tea house is one of the few dining options available. The interior has a renovated boat house feel with a traditional Japanese aesthetic. While outdoor seating is available, we opted to sit inside due to the high presence of red tide and plankton outside. We enjoyed a serving of mitarashi dango and matcha tea for 500 yen. The mitarashi dango was average, but the tea was delicious.

After waiting for about 15 minutes on a holiday afternoon, the weather and climate were nice and it was very popular. As expected, you can take a break at the boat house cafe. The tea set costs 350 yen and is served in about 5 minutes. It includes regular Mitarashi dango and tea. The Koshihikari rice from Tango was surprisingly delicious, chewy, and the sauce was sweet. I want to go for another one. Let's stop here. I will come again, next time for the soft serve ice cream.

I had made a lunch reservation in Ine, so I parked my car and took a walk around the town until the time. I visited a place where I could see the boat houses and paid an admission fee to see various things. The most interesting part was when they lowered a net cage to catch fish and then pulled it up. There were a lot of fish inside, which I assume was staged, but it was a great experience. On the way back, I stopped at a cafe run by this inn and had mitarashi dango. Normally, the view is the main attraction, but I had to take it to go as I was waiting for my wife. I really wanted to eat it while enjoying the scenery.
