Today I ordered the soy sauce ramen fried rice set! I had ordered the ginger ramen before, which was quite unique and personally I found it a bit difficult to eat, so this time I went for something more traditional. Both the ramen and fried rice are black in color! The ramen has a nice soy sauce flavor with richness and sweetness, and the medium thick round noodles go well with it. Overall, it reminds me of Shin-Fuku ramen, and the green onions are really good with it (laughs). The fried rice, despite its appearance, has just the right amount of seasoning. The pickled red ginger served on the side adds a refreshing touch to both the ramen and fried rice! I was quite satisfied with the meal, but just so you know, my friend ordered the spicy noodles and they preferred that taste (a soup with a sour and spicy flavor like hot and sour soup) (laughs).

I finally went to the restaurant I was curious about, but I couldn't bring myself to try the ginger ramen that I was most interested in, so I ended up getting the regular ramen with fried rice set instead. The fried rice was black, maybe because they used soup as seasoning, and it was a bit sweet. As for the ramen, it was described as similar to Shinpukusai-kan, but in a good way. The price was reasonable, and the ramen had plenty of chashu toppings, so I don't think I'll get tired of it easily. Overall, I thought it was a ramen that I could enjoy for everyday use! Thank you for the meal!

I felt like having soy sauce ramen after a long time, and of course, if I come here, I also feel like having fried rice. I ordered the ramen set for 1080 yen. The black soy sauce soup is delicious and reminds me of a famous old Kyoto restaurant. The thinly sliced chashu is also delicious, and the fried rice is tasty. It's a taste that I crave occasionally.

A few minutes walk from Omiya Station. I stopped by here today. The interior of the restaurant consists of counter seats and table seats, and the main menu is ramen. I ordered the ramen set (regular ramen + small fried rice) with extra toppings of green onions and a glass of draft beer. Now for the taste test! The ramen is covered with green onions, giving it a nice touch. The green onions are not spicy and easy to eat. The soup is very dark and similar to the famous soup at Shin Fukutaki. The fried rice also has a similar taste. Personally, I quite liked the flavors. So, bon appétit! The taste is good, but the table seats are extremely cramped and uncomfortable. When the ramen, fried rice, and beer are all on the table, it feels quite crowded. Additionally, the staff's chatter was quite distracting, making the atmosphere not very pleasant.

Ginger Ramen Set (1050 yen) for dinner in Kyoto. When going on a food expedition, I tend to look for local and interesting restaurants rather than those with Michelin stars or Bib Gourmand ratings, as I feel like similar options can be found in Tokyo. This time, I decided to try a restaurant in Shijo Horikawa that is known for its ginger ramen. Arrived at 6:30 pm on a weekday. The restaurant was about half full. I ordered the set menu with a small fried rice and ramen, with the ramen switched to the ginger flavor. The soup had a cloudy animal-based broth with a hint of salt and a strong ginger flavor. The noodles were medium-thick straight noodles, slightly chewy and lacking in flavor. The chashu slices were thin and tender, with a good portion. The green onions added a nice crunch and freshness. The fried rice was dark and heavy, with a slightly sweet sauce and ingredients like green onions, chashu, and egg. Overall, the meal was filling but lacked a bit of finesse. The default soy sauce ramen option might have been a better choice. Next time, I would go for that instead!

Sometimes I have a sudden craving for "Men Taiken" ramen. Similar to Shinpukusai-kan, this ramen offers more freedom in terms of set meals and toppings, which is great. This time, I ordered the ramen set (ramen + small fried rice) with extra green onions and firm noodles. I was delighted to see a mountain of green onions on top. Even though the char siu is not visible due to the abundance of onions, there is still a decent amount of char siu in the bowl, which is nice. I like to sprinkle plenty of black pepper and shichimi on this ramen for an extra kick. The small fried rice turned out to be quite generous in portion, maybe they made a mistake? The famous black fried rice is as delicious as ever. It was a satisfying lunch. I found myself quite thirsty after finishing the meal, but it was worth it.

There is a famous restaurant in Kyoto known for its deep black broth reminiscent of Shinpukusaikan. Despite the rich soy sauce color, the flavor is light yet still captures the essence of soy sauce. The Chashu Ramen comes with a generous amount of meat, making it a delightful experience. Shijo Horikawa Men Taiken - Set B (Shoyu Ramen + Chashu with Ponzu Sauce + Rice) This was my first visit to this place known for its Shoyu Ramen from the Shinpukusai-kan group. I ordered the "Toku Toku" set without really knowing what was included. #Kyoto #Shijo Horikawa #Shijo Horikawa Gourmet #Men Taiken #Ramen #Noodles #Shoyu Ramen #Chashu #Toku Toku Set #Popular Restaurant #Long Queue #Shinpukusai-kan

After enjoying a delicious bowl of ramen at "Chukasoba Futatobi," I came to this place just a few minutes away by car. The interior has a dim, izakaya-like atmosphere with a radio playing in the background. There is a kitchen at the back left, an L-shaped counter seating area along the wall, and two 2-person table seats in the front right. It seems like there are also seating options on the 2nd floor. The place is run by a lively group of three, two men and a woman. The menu offers four types of ramen: soy sauce ramen, ginger ramen, spicy ginger ramen, and mabo-men. There are also toppings, side dishes, sets, and drinks available. I was already full from the ramen, so I ordered the "fried rice (small)" as a single item. The glossy black fried rice had each grain standing up, giving it a chewy texture similar to mochi rice. Despite its dark color, it was not spicy at all, and the flavor of the lard with hints of pepper and the ingredients like chashu, egg, onion, and green onion made it delicious. The soup that came with it seemed to be ramen soup. When eaten alternately, it was really tasty. The pickled ginger on the side was also a nice touch. I quickly finished the dish and it reminded me of the high quality of "Shinfukunai" restaurant. Next time, I would like to try their ramen properly. The service was good. Thank you for the meal. From a unique perspective: wheelchair accessibility is average, western-style toilet is available at the back of the 1st floor, and there is no parking lot.

For lunch, I had the "Shoyu Ramen" at "Men Tai Ken" with a side of "Yakimeshi (small)" as part of the ramen set. This is a favorite restaurant of the comedian Honjamaka's Ishizuka, who frequents it even in his private time. Established in 1975, the restaurant has its roots in Shin Fukunakan, and it offers a unique black soup made from chicken and pork bones for its shoyu ramen. The Kyoto Black Ramen's soup, the noodles soaked in the soup, and the thinly sliced char siu are all delicious. Additionally, the black fried rice made using ramen broth has a savory burnt soy sauce flavor that is also delicious. Everything was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I stayed in Kyoto and went to a restaurant near the hotel. I ordered a ramen and fried rice set, with ginger ramen. They also had soy sauce ramen, and you could choose regular or small size for both ramen and fried rice. The ginger ramen that came out had an amazing aroma. The noodles were smooth and white, but every time you lift them, there is plenty of grated ginger mixed in without holding back. There was just an incredible amount of ginger in it, which would be irresistible for ginger lovers. At the end, I watched it thicken at the bottom and wondered how many pieces of ginger were in it. The fried rice had a strong soy sauce flavor, which paired well with the ramen.

I went to eat with my friends this time because it was delicious last time. We all ordered soy sauce ramen and half fried rice set for 1050 yen. There were 4 of us, so the total bill was 4200 yen. I thought I had paid the exact amount, but the staff came out to return the extra thousand yen. It was a very kind gesture. The ramen and half fried rice were delicious as always.

I found this restaurant by googling for a new ramen shop. I had seen it while riding the bus on the street before and wondered if it was delicious. Today I checked the reviews on Tabelog and it seemed like a ramen and fried rice place similar to Shinpukusenkan, so I decided to try it. I ordered the soy sauce ramen and fried rice set for 1050 yen. As expected, both the ramen and fried rice were incredibly delicious. The soup was indeed black but light and tasty, the medium thick straight noodles were perfectly coated in the soup, the thinly sliced chashu was very tasty, and the fried rice, although not crispy, had an excellent flavor. I definitely want to go back to this restaurant.

Located in Kyoto, Shijo Horikawa, "Men Taiken" is a popular ramen shop known for its jet-black soup, which originates from the oldest ramen shop in Kyoto, "Shinfukusai Honten". The interior of the shop features a counter and small tables, with a striking red counter seat. The pork bone soy sauce-based soup is surprisingly light for a black soup, with a delicious richness and sweetness from the soy sauce. During my visit for lunch, I tried the jet-black soup ramen, a signature Kyoto ramen. The lunch set I ordered included ramen (regular size) and a small portion of fried rice. The soy sauce ramen had a deliciously rich and slightly sweet pork bone soy sauce-based soup. The straight noodles were medium-thin and chewy, perfect for soaking up the soup. The toppings included chashu, bean sprouts, and green onions. The fried rice, made with the leftover soup from the ramen, was also black in color and had a nice, crispy charred flavor. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

Good evening! The final stop for a tour of drunken fans is definitely ramen, right? Feeling good, I decided to visit Men Taiken in Kyoto. The place has a cozy L-shaped counter with about 10 seats and a couple of two-person tables. I was debating between soy sauce ramen and ginger ramen, but seeing a businessman enjoying ramen and fried rice at the counter made me crave some fried rice too. So, I ended up ordering the ramen set (soy sauce) for 1000 yen, which came with a generous serving of fried rice. The ramen had a rich soy sauce broth with plenty of green onions, and the noodles were firm and delicious. The fried rice was flavorful and paired well with the ramen. Overall, it was a satisfying meal that left me feeling full. I'm tempted to try the ginger ramen next time. Thank you, Men Taiken!

It was the timing of the Gion Festival, but I visited on a weekday, so I was able to enter the restaurant smoothly. I ordered the ramen set (soy sauce ramen + black fried rice) with extra green onions. The waiting time for the food was not long. When it comes to this type of ramen, people often think of Shinpukusaikan, but this ramen was a bit lighter than Shinpukusaikan's. However, it had a good balance with the noodles and the black fried rice. I hesitated to add extra green onions for 100 yen, but the amount was quite generous and I was satisfied with the bowl. I will definitely visit again. Ramen set (soy sauce ramen + black fried rice) 1,000 yen, Green onion topping 100 yen.

I visited the restaurant because I wanted to try the fried rice. The place was empty. I ordered the Ramen set, which came with soy sauce ramen and a small fried rice for 1000 yen including tax. Both the ramen and fried rice had a delicious soy sauce flavor... not spicy at all. There was a surprising difference in appearance. I especially liked the fried rice.

Today for dinner, I stopped by "Men Taiken" on my way home. It's a place where you can get ramen similar to Shinpukusaikan nearby, and I've been enjoying it lately because it tasted even better than before when I went a while back. I usually order the shoyu ramen with firm noodles, but this time I added extra green onions as a topping. When the ramen arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the generous amount of green onions on top. It was a joy to have the onions mix in with each bite of noodles. I definitely want to order this again next time. Although, I feel like there could have been more chashu slices if it was a regular portion haha. Next time, I'll definitely get both green onions and chashu toppings for a completely satisfying bowl.

I had ginger ramen. There was also a spicy ginger ramen, but I had the regular ginger ramen which was slightly spicy. It was a light ramen with the perfect balance of ginger flavor. It was delicious! The fried rice that came with the ramen set was also delicious. The slightly burnt flavor of the rice was irresistible. It's what they call black fried rice, a rich and glossy type of fried rice. It paired well with the light ramen and became my favorite. The portion was generous and I was very satisfied. The soy sauce ramen, which is said to be popular, also looked delicious with its aroma of burnt soy sauce.
