This is a ramen restaurant called "Menya Sei" near Kyoto Station, affiliated with Menya Yuko. Although I have visited Yuko and Sei's Kuyama store before, this was my first time at this location. It was a Saturday around noon, so there were about 5 customers waiting, but the turnover was quick and I was able to enter in about 5 minutes. The restaurant is located near Kyoto Station, with colorful Kyoto-themed paintings as a landmark. There is no parking lot as it is in the city center. The interior is small but clean, with counter seats and tables for 2 or 1 person. The male chef and female staff were cooking, while a male server was taking care of customers. The atmosphere was serious but friendly. Like other Yuko-affiliated restaurants, they were playing music by Mr. Children. The ramen menu consists of three types: Tancho (clam-based), Shintake (soy sauce-based), and Kurotake (dark soy sauce-based), with prices varying depending on toppings and noodle quantity. There are also side dishes, some of which are exclusive to the Kyoto Station store. On this day, I ordered the Kurotake with Hanamori (6 slices of rare roasted pork) for 880 yen, a Kyoto Station exclusive style. The ramen arrived with an overwhelming amount of char siu that covered the soup, which had a dark color with one piece of menma and green onions as toppings. The soup had a rich soy sauce flavor with a hint of seafood, and it seemed to contain duck as well, giving it a strong umami taste. Despite the rich soy sauce flavor, there was a subtle sweetness in the aftertaste, making it very easy to drink. The noodles were medium-thick straight noodles that had turned black in the rich soup. They had a moist and chewy texture that was very satisfying. The rare char siu was generously seasoned with pepper and had a good amount of both lean and fatty meat. It was tender and packed with pork flavor, making it a very satisfying dish. This was my first time trying the Kurotake at the Kyoto Station store, and I was impressed by the deep umami in the rich soy sauce broth and the impressive amount of char siu. The convenient location near the station makes it easy to visit again, and I look forward to trying other menu items in the future.

Kurotake, 880 yen. About a 5-minute walk from Kyoto Station Karasuma Exit. No line on weekday mornings. The inside of the restaurant was almost full. Managed to slip into the last seat at the counter. Ordered from the seat and paid afterwards. Chose Kurotake after much consideration. Waited for a while and got the bowl. The completely black soup was very impactful. Thought it was similar to Shinpukusenkan, but it was salty and not sharp. It had a complex taste with a hint of sweetness. Delicious. The noodles were perfectly thick with a good chewiness. The thinly sliced chashu was large with a good amount of fat and umami flavor. I want to try the other options next time.

Today's lunch was at "Menya Sei Kyoto Station Front Store" in front of Kyoto Station. This place is a group store of "Menya Yuko," so I'm looking forward to it. I'll have the "Cold Chicken Salt Ramen" and "Usuba Take" please. I would be happy if you could bring them together. Let's start with the cold ramen. First, the soup. It is a chicken broth with salt seasoning. Delicious. The noodles are thick straight noodles with a strong and chewy texture. The toppings are chashu, white negi, menma, and seasoned egg. The chashu is rare pork chashu and chicken breast seasoned with pepper. The menma is young bamboo shoots. Next is the "Usuba Take." Let's try the soup. It is a clam broth with soy seasoning. The resemblance to the main store is high. It's delicious. The noodles are thick straight noodles with a strong and chewy texture. The toppings are pork chashu, chopped negi, and menma. Thank you for the meal. Cold Chicken Salt Ramen 4.3 Usuba Take 4.6

I visited this restaurant during my trip to Kyoto. I randomly walked in, but the atmosphere from the entrance was really nice. The ramen was made with shellfish broth, which had a deep flavor and was very delicious. The photo is of the chashu rice bowl, which was even more delicious than I had imagined, so I highly recommend it.

I went to a shop called Kiyosama in Ichijoji, which is the main store. By the way, it is a sister store of a ramen shop called Yuukou. Apparently, that shop has a connection to "All mankind love noodles." So, this shop is like the Kyoto version of the Ramen War. The ramen soup was very delicious, but the noodle cooking time was a little short, probably to increase turnover. It's a shame because the noodles are so good. I'm sure they still get plenty of customers. It was disappointing. Thank you for the meal.

It's very elegant! The strong presence of seafood in the pitch-black soy sauce is overwhelming, with even a hint of fruitiness. The noodles are not thick, but they are firm and have a good chewiness that pairs well with the soup. It's not the usual richness of Kyoto ramen, but rather a new and unique sensation!

On the second day of my business trip to Kansai, I spent the evening in Kyoto. After drinking with former team members, we were recommended this restaurant by a colleague who lives in Kyoto. Despite knowing that you shouldn't eat ramen after drinking, I couldn't resist and ended up at Sei (Hijiri) near Kyoto Station. I had heard good things about this place in Ichijoji Station before, so I was curious to try it out. The restaurant had a stylish atmosphere and was located in front of Kyoto Station. I ordered the most popular clam-based ramen called "Hachiku" (880 yen), as I was a bit hesitant about the black bamboo option. The soup was a light soy sauce base with seafood flavors like oysters and clams. The noodles were medium-thick and straight. It was easy to eat, but compared to other famous ramen places in Kyoto, I felt it was just average. Kyoto Station area has high standards for ramen. I would like to try the main branch in Ichijoji Station next time. Little did I know that I would end up eating ramen in Kyoto for three consecutive days! Stay tuned for day three...

When it comes to ramen in front of Kyoto Station, aside from Ramen Street, there were only two options: Daiichi Asahi and Shinpukusaikan. However, a ramen shop from the Menya Yuko group, which is popular for its ramen in Kyoto, has opened. I visited this shop and ordered the clam broth ramen, Tancho, and their limited edition water dumplings. The ramen had a strong seafood aroma in the soup. The noodles were thick and had a fragrant aroma and a chewy texture. The clam broth is becoming more popular recently, but I think this ramen is quite rare. It may be a matter of preference for some people, but I found it quite delicious. The water dumplings were also delicious and the side dishes were well-prepared. It's great that there are more options for ramen in front of Kyoto Station now.

Tanbamboo, Shinbamboo, and Kokutake Ramen. This is a ramen restaurant affiliated with Menya Yukiko near Yodobashi Camera Kyoto. I have used the Kuyama store before, but this is my first time at this location. I visited with my family of three at the opening time. There are only counter seats and tables for two. I purchased meal tickets at the ticket machine in front of the store. - Tanbamboo 880 yen - Shinbamboo 880 yen - Kokutake 880 yen - Seared rare chashu rice bowl +250 yen My wife had Tanbamboo, which has a soup with oysters, clams, and shijimi clams. My daughter had Shinbamboo, which has a soy sauce-based soup with bonito, kelp, and meat. I had Kokutake, which has a rich soy sauce soup. The most popular is Tanbamboo, with a strong taste of shellfish. The noodles contain whole wheat flour, which my daughter also found satisfying. The seared rare chashu rice bowl comes with thinly sliced chashu and an egg, and for 250 yen, it is quite reasonable. All the ramen dishes were delicious. 23rd meal of the year.

Menya Sei Kyoto Station Front Store 5/24/2023 KUMA Survey (Daily Use) (-80☆Excellent: / -60◎Good / -50◯Pass / -40△Average) (Taste: 60%: Store Management 20%: Cost Performance 20%) ■ Overall Rating 45/100 points (Taste: points) A unique ramen shop near the station! ■ Overview The shop is located about a 5-minute walk from the Kyoto Station ticket gate. The entrance looks narrow and somewhat hard to find, but the interior is new and clean with 12 seats available. The shop specializes in ramen, offering 3 types of ramen and side dishes. Today, I tried the Kurotake and seared chashu rice bowl. The ramen featured a soup with a rich sweetness and umami from simmering Japanese broth, paired with crispy low-crowned noodles. It's a ramen that may divide opinions. Thank you for the meal. ■ Order Dish / Price / Taste / Cost Performance ◯Kurotake Ramen ¥880 / △ / △ ◯Seared Chashu Rice Bowl ¥300 / ◯ / ◎ ------------Always Critical Detailed Evaluation----------- ■ Number of People Used 4 people ◯, 2 people ◯, 1 person ◯, Party -, Business -, Date - ■ Shop Atmosphere / Service 53/100 points 11pt (4 points pass, 5 points pass) Basic points 4 points ◇ Store 6/10: Near the station + clean + ◇ Service 5/10: Side dish prices + ◇ Comfort 5/10: Clean and comfortable, order at the seat, pay at the register, PayPay available, 1 free bowl after 3 visits with LINE registration ■ Detailed Dish Evaluation 40/100 points 24pt The ramen itself still needs improvement, as the balance between the soup and noodles was not quite right. Each component has its own characteristics, but improving the parts that don't match could lead to a leap in quality. Noodles: Low-crowned, crispy noodles that are quite unique. Soup: Made with sardines, bonito, and dried fish broth, with soy sauce and duck oil added. The soup has a prominent taste of bonito and soy sauce, with a hint of bitterness reminiscent of soba soup. The sharpness of soy sauce, the aroma and umami of bonito, and the mix of sweetness and bitterness made for a decent soup. ■ Cost Evaluation 50/100 points 10pt The average cost of eating out is around ¥780, but there is a recent trend of specialty shops increasing prices by about ¥100, so ¥880 is close to the average price. The side dish of seared chashu at ¥300 is quite affordable, surpassing the average when combined, so I would give it a passing score of 50 points.

Within walking distance of Kyoto Station, there are many ramen shops that have gained popularity, such as Daiichi Asahi and Shinfuku Nakan. There are also plenty of ramen shops in the station building, but I think this one is the best! The depth of the soy sauce flavor, the chashu, and the rare bamboo shoots as ramen toppings were all incredibly delicious. I used to only go for tonkotsu ramen, but now I'm a soy sauce ramen fan. It's already been featured in various reviews, but it's strange that they play Mr. Children's live DVD. Whether you're a tonkotsu ramen fan or a soy sauce ramen fan, this is a recommended shop for everyone.

Hello, this is 4Nyokki🖐️. It seems that this restaurant is affiliated with the noodle shop Yuko that I introduced before. The menu is the same, so I was avoiding it, but it was delicious. Both the ramen and the chashu were great, so this time I decided to try something different and went to Seisan. I chose Mazume instead of Santake because I'm not a big fan of clam ramen. After waiting for about 5 minutes, the menma caught my attention. The chicken dumplings are also delicious. First, let's talk about the ramen. It has a light soy sauce soup with a Japanese dashi flavor, topped with bonito flakes. The aroma is nice, and the noodles are chewy and delicious. You can finish it quickly, so getting a large portion might be a good idea. It's a different kind of deliciousness from the typical Kyoto-style tonkotsu shoyu ramen, so it depends on what kind of ramen you prefer. The restaurant is clean and overall great. Next, the chicken dumplings. They were delicious when dipped in salt, but this time I tried dipping them in the ramen soup halfway through. I wonder if you can order these for delivery? Couldn't find any information on that.

"Mosotake" and "Grilled rare pork bowl set" were lined up. As expected. I thought it wasn't popular yet, but it was actually quite popular. The background music of Mr. Children in the store is reliable. And... I have never ordered the middle option in ramen shops or Yukiakari, but this time I did. It was a perfectly balanced bowl. Not too sweet, not too bitter, just right in the middle. I regret not ordering it before. It has a similar vibe to other ramen shops in Kyoto, but the taste is different. Not too sexy. It has a subtle hint of naughtiness without being too erotic. Eating this in front of Kyoto Station is a rare experience."

Located between Yodobashi Camera and Kyoto Tower, just a 30-second walk from the north exit of Kyoto Station. This area sees a lot of turnover in shops, possibly due to the pandemic. I visited this place for the first time without any prior research. The menu offered three types of ramen: Tancho, Mancho, and Kurocho, each with its own description. When I asked the staff for a recommendation, they suggested Tancho. It is a ramen made with a base of Kyoto soy sauce and dashi broth extracted from oysters, clams, and shijimi clams, resulting in a light and flavorful ramen. I ordered Tancho (HACHIKU) with toppings of boiled egg and white rice. The ramen was absolutely delicious. The soup, or rather the broth, was mild and tasty enough to be enjoyed on its own without the noodles. The harmony between the boiled egg and the soup further enhanced the deliciousness. The white rice was also cooked with care, not like your typical cheap rice. The interior of the shop was clean and had a sense of cleanliness, unlike your typical ramen shop.

The ramen here is incredibly rich in flavor. The broth is numbingly delicious, making you want to slurp it all up. The chashu is tender and three slices are not enough to satisfy. The ramen is a perfect balance of lightness and depth. The gyoza is highly recommended - the chicken gyoza may seem light at first, but they burst with juicy flavor. Seriously delicious. This is the best gyoza I've ever had. You have to try it to believe it. You can easily get addicted to this place.

The average rating is 3.0, with scores falling between 2.9 and 3.1. The clam-based soup is distinct and enjoyable. I like the clear and refreshing taste of the soup. The restaurant is located in a spacious alley slightly off the main street. It is not right in front of the station or near any towers, but it feels like a place frequented by locals.

Kurotake ramen costs 880 yen. The atmosphere and menu are similar to Mr. Children, but there is no clear connection. The soup is rich with a strong soy sauce flavor. It has a human touch to it. Despite being rich, the broth is well-balanced and not too salty, with a refreshing taste. It's like the soy sauce ramen at Ichimen-san in Hiroshima. The noodles are medium thickness and have a nice texture. The char siu is initially rare but cooks through in the hot soup. It's moist, not dry, and has no unpleasant meaty smell. Overall, it's quite delicious. The turnover rate is good, so there shouldn't be a long line. It's a good option for ramen near Kyoto Station.

The moment I decided to walk from Shijo to Kyoto Station, I felt an empty sensation in my stomach... I was hungry! I couldn't shake off the feeling that I needed to eat something, even though I wanted to avoid wheat. But, in the end, there's no need to resist delicious food! So, I searched on Tabelog for ramen and found a branch of Yukari-san near Kyoto Station. It was located down a side street, but I could see the lantern marking the spot even before turning the corner. When I arrived just before 8 pm, there was one group ahead of me waiting. Like at the main shop, I decided on my order while waiting. Since I had tried Asazake at the main shop, I ordered Kurotake, which is described as a style only available near Kyoto Station. The richly colored soup had a sweet soy sauce flavor with a strong taste of bonito. It's quite salty, but the unique spiciness of soy sauce was delicious. The noodles seemed similar to Yukari-san's, but were firmer in texture. While Yukari-san's noodles are straight and chewy, these noodles were slightly curly and had a smooth, crisp bite. I might have enjoyed trying Asazake again to appreciate the slight differences. I would like to try other varieties as well!

This is in Kyoto. It's located on the north side of Kyoto Station, near Kyoto Tower. Along Kizuyabashi Street, between Fumeimon Street and Higashinakano Street, I found this restaurant. After visiting two izakayas, I thought it was time to wrap things up, so I decided to check out this place. When I entered the restaurant, a young staff member quickly attended to me. I ordered the rich soy sauce ramen, Kurochiku, which I had enjoyed for lunch before, along with a bottle of beer. The beer arrived promptly, and I sipped on it while waiting. The Kurochiku this time was much saltier and richer in flavor compared to my previous visit. The noodles were a bit soft for my liking. However, I was pleased to find that there was a generous amount of chashu compared to my lunch experience. If I have the chance to visit again, I would like to try a different ramen next time.

The storefront looked quite artistic, making me wonder if this was really a ramen shop. The interior was very clean, and the staff were efficient and provided great service. The soup was made with my favorite clam broth, and the flavorful bamboo shoots were excellent. They also serve beer, so it's a great place to stop by after work or on your way back from a business trip to enjoy some delicious food. Thank you for the meal!
