The soba restaurant where you can drink is a very appreciated place. This time, I tried ordering the Shime Saba and it was delicious, almost like Saba sushi. I also ordered thick fried tofu, which had a firm texture. The soba noodles had a nice texture with a hint of flour. I felt very happy with Red Star and cold sake.

After Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair, we had dinner at Sanmi Kōan. We always come here for lunch during the fair. It was very crowded during lunchtime, so we gave up, but when we passed by after the fair, there wasn't much of a line so we decided to wait a bit and were able to get a table. The chilled soba soup was a nice touch. I had the chilled soba with sudachi and grated daikon, while my husband had the chilled soba with sudachi and pork shabu-shabu. The tangy flavor of the sudachi and the refreshing grated daikon made it delicious and refreshing.

The sudachi soba seemed to be the specialty, but it was just average. If you really want to eat something delicious, this is not the place. [Service] The young part-time staff were neither good nor bad in terms of service. [Ambience/Clientele] Many young women at the riverside outdoor seats seemed to be eager to take Instagram-worthy photos. It's recommended to sit inside as it can get hot. [Busyness] There were already more than 10 groups waiting when the restaurant opened at 11:00, so reservation is a must. Although I was 15 minutes late on the day of my reservation and couldn't reach them by phone, they still managed to save a table for me. The restaurant seems to have a hard time with turnover even with reservations at less popular times. *Reservations require ordering a course menu, making it difficult to judge...

The soba and tempura were delicious, and the atmosphere and garden of the restaurant were beautiful! The staff were friendly, and I would love to visit again when I come back to Kyoto. It was quite crowded during lunchtime on weekdays, even in the rain, but I think we were seated within 30 minutes.

A soba restaurant located near Higashiyama Station. It seems to be a popular place, as you are greeted by neatly arranged chairs when you enter the restaurant. The refreshing sudachi juice is a perfect start. The pork shabu-shabu lunch course is generous in portion and pairs well with sesame oil, making it a satisfying meal. The sound of the Shirakawa River outside and the seasonal flowers add to the wonderful dining experience. The calm atmosphere allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of the city center and enjoy a peaceful afternoon in Kyoto.

I enjoyed a leisurely lunch on the terrace seat. As soon as I arrived at the restaurant, there was a huge line, so I thought "I'm glad I made a reservation." They had prepared a beautiful seat with hydrangeas, so I enjoyed delicious soba and good sake, feeling a little tipsy. The manager's friendly demeanor made for a pleasant time. The specialty vinegar citrus soba had a refreshing and elegant taste. It was delicious. Thank you very much. I will visit again.

I arrived before the opening and waited in line for a bit, but it was worth it for the delicious food! I ordered sudachi soba and tempura, and the soba was chewy and smooth, so it disappeared in no time! The tempura was too delicious with seasonal vegetables, and the shrimp was plump and impressive! I recommend paying extra for the terrace seats.

This is my favorite soba restaurant. During this season, their limited-time menu, the chilled soba with sudachi citrus, is exquisite. The tangy flavor of the sudachi and the cold broth go really well with the soba, making it a perfect dish for summer. I also love their terrace seats, where you can enjoy the sound of the river while slurping on your soba, making it a luxurious way to experience Kyoto. The terrace seats have a seating charge (330 yen), but if they are available, I always choose to sit there. I have been three times, and two of those times I sat on the terrace. Once, I arrived just before opening and managed to get a terrace seat without waiting. I will definitely be going back every year during this season! (The reason for not giving a full star rating is that the portion size is a bit small for someone like me who loves to eat a lot.)

I tried the summer limited Sudachi soba at a famous soba restaurant known on SNS. The stone-ground 100% soba was refreshing and had a nice chewy texture, very delicious. The tempura was crispy and the shrimp was plump, my favorite part. I visited during the super busy Golden Week period. They use a reservation system where you are called in order. The lunch peak time had a wait of about 1 hour. There is an additional fee of 330 yen for terrace seating, but this time we dined inside due to the long wait during Golden Week.

It was my first visit to Sanmi Koboan in Higashiyama, Kyoto!! I had been wanting to go for a long time and finally made it! I went with my mother and brother! We arrived 30 minutes before the 11:00 am opening time, but there were already 4 groups waiting. By the time it opened at 11:00 am, there were about 20 groups waiting in line! There were terrace seats for 4 people, 2 tables for 2 people each, and 3 counter seats. Since we were a group of 3, we just managed to secure a terrace seat that was reserved! Phew~ Today, we ordered the following menu items: - Ebi Tempura Soba Set for 2300 yen - Ebi Tempura Soba Set with Sudachi Soba for 2700 yen - Ebi Tempura Donburi with Soba (with Sudachi Soba) for 2700 yen. The tempura was so crispy and delicious! The freshly fried tempura paired with Hokkaido soba was amazing!! It was my first time trying Sudachi soba, and it was refreshing and easy to eat, even for those who are not fans of Sudachi. This soba restaurant is packed with reasons for its popularity! If you want to order a la carte, be prepared to wait in line as reservations are only for set courses! It was incredibly delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I visited for lunch. I lined up before opening and was able to get a nice terrace seat. The terrace seats cost extra, but the location is worth it. The soba had a rich and delicious broth. Overall, I think the taste is consistent and stable! I think it's a good restaurant for dining during Kyoto sightseeing or for a date.

I came to a soba restaurant in Kyoto! The atmosphere is very nice. The terrace seats along the river have an extra seating fee. I ordered soba and tempura. The soba noodles were thick and didn't have much soba aroma. It seemed more focused on the texture. The appetizer was more like a normal noodle soup base rather than having a rich flavor. Overall, it was an average experience.

Samimian Honan @ Higashiyama, Kyoto - Just a 1-minute walk from Higashiyama subway station, this over 100-year-old Kyoto townhouse offers stone-ground, homemade buckwheat noodles. You can enjoy the #100% buckwheat soba on the terrace along the Shirakawa River for a charge of 330 yen if there are seats available on the day, with prior reservation. When I visited, I was seated on the terrace earlier than inside, and the weather was nice, so I chose the terrace seating! The Kujyo Negi soba was filled with plenty of Kujyo green onions, perfect for onion lovers like me! Their signature shredded Japanese pepper and rich egg soba, served with "Original 10-grain rice" tea bowl-sized adult egg rice, was also incredibly delicious! The terrace seating was a soothing space, too comfortable. I arrived around noon and had to wait for about 30 minutes. I recommend making a reservation or arriving early during lunchtime!

Duck Nanban soba 1650 (probably), Tempura assortment 1100 was so delicious... The duck was too thick!! It was so luxurious!!! I added Kujyo green onion for an additional 300 yen, even though it's not in the picture! Everyone should add it, it's a great choice! The scent of yuzu is irresistible. Reserving a terrace seat costs an additional 300 yen. It was raining so I ended up eating inside, but I'm sure the terrace seat for lunch would be absolutely amazing!

The restaurant is popular for its terrace seats with a riverbed-like atmosphere and sudachi soba. It was a cold day so I opted for the warm negi (green onion) soba. It was simple with just negi and shichimi (seven spice) on the table, but both the negi and shichimi had a nice aroma and tasted delicious. Although there were empty seats inside, I had to wait quite a bit before being seated, which made me wonder what was going on.

It's about an 8-minute walk from Higashiyama. In Kyoto, known for its fierce soba restaurant competition, there were times when there were lines and times when there weren't. The interior of the restaurant has been renovated and has a very clean, upscale atmosphere. The outdoor terrace seats, where you can relax while looking at the river, are popular. I had planned to eat duck soba, but I was captivated by the winter limited edition whitefish sudachi soba and ordered that instead. It was luxurious and rare to have whitefish on top! The whitefish itself wasn't extremely rich, but it paired well with the broth and sudachi. You can eat the sudachi on the side, and even though it was fried shortly after arriving, the fragrant sudachi flavor was present until the end. If you like soba or if you guide someone around Kyoto and recommend this place, it might give off a knowledgeable vibe and make them happy. The coarsely ground soba that my companion was eating was the most delicious... Highly recommended!

It's not incredibly delicious, but it's not bad either. The duck is domestically sourced. However, it was a bit tough, so it's not super tasty. The green onions are Kujonegi, but they were quite stingy with them, which was disappointing. Overall, it's not bad, better than eating something weird. However, considering the price was over 1600 yen, the value for money is really not good.

I visited on New Year's Eve. There was a long line of customers who came to eat Toshikoshi Soba. I had the Duck Nabe course, and the duck meat, eaten with green onions and burdock, was very tender and delicious, with no unpleasant smell. The soba served in the duck shabu-shabu broth was also excellent! The portion was quite large, and I couldn't finish it all. Although it doesn't affect the taste, it was a bit disappointing to sit near the terrace where there was a lot of traffic in and out, making it very cold.

The terrace seats are popular, so we paid extra to enjoy the soba set course. However, the terrace was cold in December, so I recommend using it in seasons other than winter! The view along the river was beautiful!! Reservations require ordering a course meal. Personally, I found the Nishikyo-yaki (grilled fish) more delicious than the soba. It was well-oiled, with just the right amount of miso flavor, and I really liked it! The soba was light, so those who prefer a stronger soba flavor may find it a bit lacking!
