Finally visited Shinodaya, a long-awaited visit! I had previously given up five times in front of the store. Finally made it. Visited around 3 pm on a weekday. The interior of the store was about half full (which is impressive for this time). The store is surprisingly spacious with about 10 tables and 2 raised tatami seating areas. I tried their specialty dish, a plate of curry topped with tonkatsu, which is like curry udon but with tonkatsu. The curry had a rich flavor with a thick roux that was gentle. The tonkatsu was thin, so don't expect a strong meaty flavor from it, but it was a necessary topping that added a delicious touch. Scooping up the roux, tonkatsu, and rice with the spoon along with the Fukujinzuke on the plate and savoring it was pure bliss! The price for this dish was only 800 yen, which is incredibly cost-effective. The menu also includes items like Chinese soba for 600 yen, Nishin soba for 650 yen, and more, all surprisingly affordable considering the location. A large bottle of beer was only 550 yen, showing the great value for money. The atmosphere created by the owner couple (probably) had a local charm and added to the overall experience. Next time, I might try the Chinese soba with a large bottle of beer.

I went to a ramen shop the day before, but even though it said it was open until 3:00 pm, it was closed by 2:00 pm. Today, I lined up at 11:00 am for the 11:30 am opening time for revenge. I was second in line, so I entered as soon as the shop opened. I ordered the most popular ramen and the mixed plate that everyone orders (600 yen + 800 yen = 1400 yen, cheap!). The ramen arrived in about 5 minutes. It was served in a small bowl but looked perfect! I took a bite and it was delicious, a traditional ramen with thin noodles and a rich soy sauce flavor. The soup was also delicious! After about 5 minutes, the mixed plate arrived (maybe around 10 minutes in total). It also looked great! It had a pork cutlet topped with curry udon sauce. The thick curry sauce was delicious with the rice! I finished it quickly, as expected. The shop also recommended the herring soba, so I would like to try that next time. It was really delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I headed to Suzumushi Temple in Kyoto. Unfortunately, it started pouring rain as soon as I got on the bus, but it stopped when I arrived. Then, it started raining heavily again at the bus stop on the way back, but miraculously stopped when I got off. I had carne for breakfast, but it's already 2:30 PM and I'm hungry, so I decided to try the recommended dish at "Shinodaya" - a curry dish with a Japanese twist. I also wanted to try the ramen, so we shared both dishes. The dish was delicious with the green onions complementing the flavors well. The curry sauce with starch had a Japanese touch, and the balance with the cutlet was great! The ramen had a traditional light taste and was also delicious. I am grateful to Matari-san for knowing good food.

I've known about this restaurant for quite a while, and finally got a chance to visit. I heard that there would be a line when they open, so I went around 11:15, but the line didn't start until around 11:30. I ordered their famous plate of assorted dishes, which consisted of a thin tonkatsu on rice with a curry-flavored sauce poured over it. It was a unique dish that I had never tried before. The price of 800 yen including tax was attractive and the food was delicious. Their traditional Chinese soba noodles are also well-known.

The day after the Gion Matsuri's Daimonji Gozan Okuribi event, we visited the restaurant at 11:30 am and lined up to enter. We ordered the "sasamori" plate as promised, which was a crispy tonkatsu with Japanese-style curry udon with green onions in the sauce. It was delicious and satisfying. Next time, we will try the popular Chinese soba noodles. Thank you for the meal.

Kyoto's long-established diner, Shinoda-ya, located in Sanjo Keihan, is a nostalgic spot that I have visited multiple times but this is my first time posting about it. It's a Showa-era diner with a variety of menu options, but 90% of people order the plate or Chinese dish. This time, I went with the plate for 800 yen. The waitress shouts "saramori~" which adds to the charm. The curry with a thinly sliced tonkatsu and thick broth is irresistible in the summer. Delicious! By 11:30 am, the place is almost full, so I want to advise tourists to be considerate and not take away the regulars' spots.

Finally arrived. Visited for lunch during a family trip to Kyoto, of course, the main attraction is the large plate servings. It's great to be able to try various dishes with a large group. The herring soba, pork cutlet curry, and Chinese soba are all delicious! I'm so happy to be able to eat my number one choice right away.

On July 5, 2023, Wednesday, at 11:15 AM, I arrived at the front of the store. Today, I came to this shop in Kyoto's Sanjo Station with my security guard friend. I have visited this shop several times when it was open at night, and since it is now only open for lunch, I can only come on my days off. Today, I visited for the first time. I arrived 15 minutes before opening, and there was only one group waiting. I entered at exactly 11:30 AM. I had the 800 yen assorted plate, which had curry udon sauce on it and looked like katsu curry, but it's actually "Katsu Curry Udon Sauce." The taste was overwhelmingly delicious and unlike anything I've had before. After that, I had the 600 yen ramen and the 700 yen large ramen. About 90% of the customers here order either the assorted plate or the ramen. The traditional Kyoto-style ramen is light and easy to eat, with the char siu having excess oil removed, making it a superb dish. Thank you for the delicious food today. Thank you, Jun Hamamura. Thank you very much for reading my trivial review until the end. If you have any feedback or questions, please feel free to leave a comment. Thank you for your continued support.

I was introduced to this place by an acquaintance! The atmosphere is very soothing. The efficient manner of the mother is refreshing! I tried the recommended assorted plate. If I had to eat this without knowing anything, I would say it's like curry udon but with a curry sauce for katsu curry! It was delicious! Maybe next time I'll try the herring soba! Thank you for another delicious meal today! Grateful! ✨

On this day, I visited Kurumazaki Shrine and Kifune Shrine for the first time, walking for about 2 hours and feeling very hungry. I took the Keihan train from Demachiyanagi to Sanjo, wondering if the restaurant would be open. Luckily, I saw the signboard and managed to get a table. It was a little past 2 o'clock for lunch, and five tables were already occupied. I ordered a large bottle of beer and a bowl of ramen without hesitation. The restaurant is now completely non-smoking, unlike 10 years ago when they used to have ashtrays for "Tokuhon" cigarettes. I was hoping to see those vintage ashtrays, but I appreciate the non-smoking policy. The ramen was just as I remembered it - with plenty of char siu and a soy sauce-based flavor. Other customers were also ordering either ramen or the plate of assorted dishes. The popularity of these two dishes hasn't changed at all.

The interior of the restaurant has a very nostalgic atmosphere, with a Showa era vibe. The dish presentation is excellent and the flavor is delicious! The curry udon broth is especially tasty. It's located right by Sanjo Keihan Station along Sanjo Street, making it very convenient. It has a great retro feel. Next time, I want to try the ramen.

I came to Kyoto on a business trip. It's been so many years, it feels like since my school trip. Due to my tight schedule, I can't relax much, but I found a crowd in front of a shop. It has a charming exterior, and it's a famous place as I saw on Tabelog. It seems they open at 10:30, and it's only 10:25 now. It must be fate. I went to a convenience store for breakfast right after leaving the hotel, but that doesn't matter. Good food should be eaten when you have the chance. It was an old-fashioned Chinese soba. It was light yet had a delicious broth. I don't really know what makes it "Kyoto-like," but it seems like locals come here often, so maybe that's what makes it Kyoto-like.

I had the Chuka soba for 600 yen. The noodles were powdery and tasted bad with a strange flavor. I'm used to the taste of Kanto region, so I couldn't handle these noodles. The soup and chashu had a simple old-fashioned feel as expected, but I didn't find them delicious at all.

A few times a year, I feel like eating here. There was a sign saying they close early, and the place was packed, so I had to wait in line for a bit. When I entered, most people at the tables didn't have any food in front of them. Maybe it was their second round of ordering. It took a bit of time for the food to arrive. The waitress wiped her sweat and loudly communicated the orders to the chef. It was funny to watch. They gave us lukewarm water or tea, and when I asked for hot tea, they said they only had lukewarm tea. I ordered a plate of food, but most people were ordering ramen with specific requests like firm noodles, extra noodles, lots of pepper, extra broth, etc. The chef made sure to get all the orders right by confirming multiple times. It was entertaining to watch, and I didn't mind the wait. The plate of food was piping hot, with thin, crispy pork cutlets and a curry-like sauce that was different but delicious. The ramen was also tasty, so I wanted to try both, but I realized I could ask for half a portion of rice with the plate of food and get to enjoy both dishes. I also learned a lot from observing the other customers' orders. It was a day of delicious food.

I ordered the dish of Katsumori. It was a Katsu curry-like dish with surprisingly spicy curry sauce and thin crispy cutlets on top of rice. The thin crispy cutlets went really well with the rice and curry sauce, and it was very delicious. Many people around me were eating ramen, so I will try the ramen next time!

I had some business to attend to at Miyakomesse and decided to stop by for an early lunch in Sanjo while transferring. The restaurant opened at 11:30, but I arrived about five minutes early and there were already three people in line. The old-fashioned atmosphere inside the restaurant was very nostalgic. I ordered the Chukasoba (Chinese noodles) and had to wait a bit, but it was worth it. The simple soy sauce flavor was delicious. Next time, I will challenge the Assamori (assorted dishes).

During my first visit, after visiting Heian Shrine and enjoying the cherry blossoms in the garden, I decided to grab a quick bite to eat in the Sanjo area before heading to Osaka on the Keihan line. I searched for a delicious-looking restaurant nearby and found one with a line forming outside. Luckily, I managed to get in after the first round. The menu featured a popular dish called Chuka soba, as well as original dishes like Sarashari (a plate of rice topped with tonkatsu and curry udon sauce) and Deluxe Donburi. I tried the Sarashari, which was essentially a Japanese-style tonkatsu curry on rice. It wasn't too spicy, so I added some shichimi to make it a bit hotter. Overall, it was pretty good, but I wish there was a bit more in terms of portion size.

Get off at Keihan Sanjo Station and you'll find our restaurant just a minute's walk away. We don't have a parking lot. Our restaurant is a long-established eatery in Kyoto, founded in 1904 (Meiji 37). Both the exterior and interior retain the nostalgic charm of days gone by. The old building and furniture create a wonderful atmosphere. Visiting for lunch on a weekday, the place was packed. Luckily, a small raised seating area was available so we could sit right away. Once seated, we were asked if we wanted tea or water. We ordered the two signature dishes: Chuka Soba for 600 yen tax included and a plate assortment for 800 yen tax included. The Chuka Soba was a clear, light soy sauce ramen. No, not ramen, but Chuka Soba. The noodles were soft and the broth was light and refreshing, making you want to drink it all up. The Chashu was generously piled on top. It was a deeply satisfying Chuka Soba. The plate assortment was similar to Katsu Curry, but instead of curry, it had curry sauce. It had the flavor of curry udon broth. It was incredibly delicious. Despite the Katsu topping, it was surprisingly light and easy to eat. I could see myself coming here every day. The ambiance and food were just that inviting.

I had lunch in Kyoto for work after a long time. There were about 10 people lined up before noon, but by around 1 o'clock, there were few people, so I decided to stop by. I went with the Chinese soba for now. It had a nostalgic and gentle taste. Next time, I want to order curry or a plate of assorted dishes. The price was 100 yen higher than the price on Tabelog, but it was still reasonable.

Today's lunch was at Shinozakiya after a long time. I wanted to have Tianjin rice at Marushin restaurant, but there was a long line, so I gave up. As I walked towards Keihan Sanjo Station, I was considering where to have lunch. I decided to try Shinozakiya, and although the place was full and rice dishes were sold out, I ordered the Chinese soba. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nostalgic, reminiscent of Showa era or even Taisho era, skipping over Heisei and Reiwa. It has a unique nostalgic charm similar to Akagakiya in Sanjo. The customers were of all ages and it felt like a beloved restaurant. The menu mentioned that the Chinese soba is the most popular, but almost everyone ordered the dish set. The Chinese soba arrived in just 5 minutes. It had a slightly dark appearance, and the aroma of pepper wafted through. The soup had just the right amount of saltiness, a delicious blend of chicken bone soy sauce. It was delicious! The chashu was small but tasty, similar to the one at Sugakiya. Although I couldn't try the famous dish set, the Chinese soba was delicious, transcending time and space.
