I used this restaurant for a welcome party at work. Therefore, there are no photos this time. I have used it once before. This time, we had a private room on the 3rd floor. There are also counter seats on the 1st floor. The spacious private room is convenient for group use. It was nice that it was a sunken kotatsu. This time, the organizer ordered a course meal with all-you-can-drink. The all-you-can-drink menu includes basic drinks. In addition to bottled beer, there is also draft beer, which I personally liked. We started with sesame tofu, which was very rich and delicious. Next was a salad and sashimi assortment. The salad seemed to be mizuna, with crispy dried small fish sprinkled on top adding a nice accent. Then came the simmered head of sea bream. The large sea bream had a rich flavor and was a great accompaniment to alcohol. Next, a large tsukune appeared. It had a fluffy texture and a taste that made you want to have rice with it. It was delicious. Spring rolls were also served, with a slightly different taste than usual, and I think shrimp was included as an ingredient. It had a crispy texture. Each dish was stable and delicious. The course meal was not hastily prepared. Finally, we had mixed rice and red miso soup to finish. The mixed rice was lightly seasoned. It was just right when eaten with the red miso soup. We had jelly for dessert, and the party ended. There is an intercom in the private room, so you can order through it, which was convenient. It was also nice that the intercom was installed in several places in the room, so you could order from any seat. This saved us the trouble of calling the staff multiple times. The drinks for the all-you-can-drink service were brought smoothly without any waiting. There was a member who couldn't eat sashimi, and when the organizer informed the restaurant, they prepared a separate dish for that person. Such flexible responses are appreciated by customers.

After several years, we visited "Hamacho" in Kyoto's calm Sanjo area to catch up with old college friends who were visiting. The location is a 3-minute walk from either Keihan Sanjo Station or Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Subway Station. The restaurant offers various seating options such as private rooms, semi-private rooms, sunken kotatsu seats, and a counter. We had reserved a semi-private room on the first floor for our visit. The menu mainly consists of Japanese cuisine, and we ordered a variety of dishes that caught our interest. The drink menu is also extensive, with a wide selection of sake. On Sundays, all sake is half price, making it a great deal. Each dish we ordered was delicious and carefully prepared, with the fish and vegetables standing out in particular. We also enjoyed beer and other drinks. Considering the quality and quantity of food and drinks we enjoyed, the total cost per person in the 6,000 yen range felt quite reasonable. The restaurant's relaxed atmosphere, delicious food, and variety of seating options make it highly recommended for various occasions. If you find yourself in the area, it's definitely worth considering. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

This is a restaurant where you can enjoy a variety of dishes such as sashimi, shabu-shabu, and various types of conger eel dishes. It's a delightful experience just watching the skilled chefs working efficiently behind the counter. The restaurant has a very elegant atmosphere, but it doesn't feel intimidating, and the staff are friendly.

First visit. I take a seat at the counter. The appetizers include marinated tuna, jellyfish, saury, komatsuna with broth, and simmered kogori. The dishes are elaborate and there is no sense of cutting corners. The sashimi assortment includes yellowtail, saury, amberjack, sea bream, flounder, squid, and striped jack. Instead of emphasizing freshness, they have aged the fish just right to enhance the flavor. It's not that the fish isn't fresh; it's delicious. The spring cabbage and cherry shrimp with broth is light and Kyoto-style. The flavor of the bamboo shoots is left natural. The meatball skewers are a specialty. With shiso leaves mixed in, there is a mysterious umami to the meat. I always want to order this when I visit. The miso-grilled saury is made with a subtle amount of miso to bring out the aroma of the saury. This is also delicious. For drinks, I had Kirin Lager 250ml, Tenmei, and oolong tea. The option to choose from four sizes for draft beer is a nice touch.

I visited Hamacho in Sanjo, Kyoto for the first time! It's about a 5-minute walk from Sanjo Station. The restaurant is very spacious with seating available on the first to third floors. It seems like there is rarely a full house or a wait. Today, I ordered the following menu items: - Beef fillet steak for 1800 yen - Assorted sashimi for 1300 yen - Conger eel shabu-shabu. There was a wide variety of seafood and meat options on the menu! They also seem to offer seasonal courses, so I might try that next time. It was very delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I didn't know about this restaurant and decided to walk in. The interior was surprisingly calm and cozy, with a counter and semi-private rooms. They have a wide variety of drinks, especially an impressive selection of Japanese sake. The food ranges from traditional Kyoto dishes to more common options for drinking. The female staff members were friendly and welcoming. I was impressed by the discovery of this restaurant after leaving.

I visited towards the end, but they were very polite and hospitable. The dashi broth was delicious, and everything tasted great! The flavors were lighter than they appeared in the photos, with a strong dashi flavor, which was nice. The menu included a sashimi platter, crab and mitsuba salad, sweet and savory konjac dashimaki tamago, shrimp and gyoza spring rolls, steamed sea bream with turnips, sea bream rice, duck noodles, grilled mackerel with miso, and sake, etc. Great value for money, I will definitely be back!

Today, I visited this restaurant after going to the Kyoto Aquarium. I chose the 5000 yen course. When I arrived at the restaurant, it was still a little before opening time, but they noticed me and let me in. It was quite cold outside, so I was very grateful for that. Inside, the atmosphere was calm and beautiful. I had reserved a private room, so I was taken up to the 3rd floor. The private room was also clean and had a system where you could order drinks using an internal phone. The food overall had a gentle and healthy taste. They had a wide variety of local sake, so I felt like I wanted to enjoy a glass of sake while spending time there. The staff were very polite and I had a pleasant time.

It's the second day of our trip to Kyoto with my wife. We decided to have Japanese cuisine this day, so we visited "Hamacho" in Sanjo Kiya-cho. We reserved a semi-private room on the first floor and the monthly chef's special course. We started with a toast of draft beer and white wine, followed by appetizers, soup, sashimi, grilled dish, simmered dish, meat dish, rice with red miso soup, and dessert. The sashimi (yellowtail, amberjack, sea bream) and the soup and simmered dish with dashi broth were particularly delicious. I wasn't sure what yellowtail was, so I looked it up online and found out it refers to young bluefin tuna. The restaurant has various types of seating from the first floor to the third floor. We used a semi-private room on the first floor, and although we were a bit unsure how to call the staff, the calm atmosphere was quite nice.

Located just off the elegant and bustling Kiyamachi Street in Kyoto, this establishment has the appearance of a traditional inn. Despite my initial hesitation due to not being able to see inside through the curtain, I was pleasantly surprised to find a warm and welcoming atmosphere inside. The restaurant was lively with what seemed to be regular customers, and there were few tourists. You can enjoy watching the skilled chef at work from the large counter seats. The "Duck Sukiyaki Hot Pot," "Amberjack Sashimi," and "Sea Bream Rice with Yuba Sauce" that we ordered were all delicious, showcasing the high level of cuisine that Kyoto is known for.

Hama-cho in Sanjo Kiya-cho. Today was a work-related drinking party. We decided to go to "Hama-cho" in Sanjo Kiya-cho, a calm and relaxed atmosphere, to enjoy a leisurely conversation. It is located across from Kilfebon. The interior of the restaurant has a solid sense of luxury. Although the atmosphere suggests that it might be somewhat expensive, the food is not that pricey. It's not just cheap, but you can feel the value for money here. - Kyoto pickled vegetable salad 900 yen: A crispy salad with daikon and watercress, with a good accent of Shibazuke. A salad that goes well with sake. - Seared kamasu (barracuda) 1000 yen: The seared kamasu with the crispy skin has a delicious melt-in-your-mouth fat. The presentation is also beautiful. - Grilled salmon in Saikyo style 750 yen: A somewhat unusual Saikyo-style grilled salmon. Concentrated umami flavor. Makes you crave for hot steamed rice. - Famous tsukune (one stick) 250 yen: A plump tsukune! Truly a famous dish. The sweet and savory sauce is also delicious. - Shrimp gyoza spring roll 650 yen: A crispy fried spring roll with a lot of shrimp filling. Simple and delicious! - Charcoal-grilled anago (conger eel) 1200 yen: A system where you grill the conger eel over charcoal yourself. Sear the skin first, and lightly cook the flesh. The umami flavor from the fat in the skin and the bursting texture of the flesh are amazing. A must-try dish. - Duck and Kujo green onion in red wine sauce 800 yen: Duck and Kujo green onion in a Western-style red wine sauce, typical of Kyoto. A French-inspired delicacy. - Dashimaki tamago (Japanese rolled omelette) 700 yen: A bouncy finish. Simple is the best. - Deep-fried taro with shrimp 750 yen: Towards the end, you start craving for such a gentle dish. That's the way it goes. We got pleasantly drunk and had a lively and enjoyable party.

It's a high-end izakaya that has been around for a long time, similar to the ones you often find in Osaka. Today, we had a set menu with all-you-can-drink for 5500 yen, with a few additional dishes bringing the total to around 7000 yen. The menu mainly focuses on seafood, but we also enjoyed large tsukune skewers, duck and kujo negi salad, and various meat dishes. The food was well-balanced and delicious, with no shortcuts taken. One standout dish was the simmered tai fish head, which paired well with drinks. The atmosphere was cozy, as we had a semi-private room for two people in a four-person seating area, making it very comfortable. We also checked out the counter seats on the first floor, which were spacious as well. Overall, it was a great izakaya experience.

I ordered two draft beers, two highballs, fresh yuba sashimi, live octopus sashimi, grilled duck and white onion. The total bill was around 5000 yen. Despite being about 30 minutes late for my reservation due to circumstances, they provided excellent service. They are open on December 31st as well.

The 10th stop on my New Year's trip was here, where I casually dropped by. I had reserved a table in advance for this last dining out of the year, as the timing didn't leave many options. We ordered various dishes a la carte. Overall, the freshness was quite good, and the ease of eating and depth of flavor were proportional, making it a cozy and approachable traditional Japanese restaurant. However, there were no standout dishes, just average. Thank you for the meal.

At the end of the year, the Go To Travel campaign was suspended, so we decided to leave our beloved dog at a breeder in Osaka for 4 days and go on a short trip to Kyoto and Shiga with my wife. We found this restaurant based on a review from a reviewer we follow. Although the restaurant looked like an izakaya, the dishes were quite authentic and appealed to both visual and taste senses, starting with a standout assortment of appetizers. We ordered oden, simmered sardines with plum, simmered chicken liver, seared Spanish mackerel, yuba tempura, grilled oysters with green onions and miso, and simmered nama-fu. Everything was delicious, but personally, I really enjoyed the seared Spanish mackerel and yuba tempura. The selection of sake included both local (Kyoto, Shiga) and nationwide options, and since it was a Sunday, everything was half price, making it a great value. The overall cost performance was high, and we felt reassured by the attention to safety measures. This restaurant is recommended as a place that is more than an izakaya but not quite a formal dining establishment. Thank you for the wonderful meal. We would love to come back again.

I used it during my trip to Kyoto. Since it's Kyoto, I thought of having Japanese food, especially duck! I found a restaurant with a wide variety of Japanese dishes such as duck hot pot and sashimi. My friend and I had the duck hot pot course, and everything from the portion size, taste, variety of dishes, and price was excellent! They had a variety of duck dishes including duck roast, and sitting at the counter allowed us to enjoy the skillful preparation of sashimi up close. The hospitality at the cash register was also very good, and I was satisfied with everything until I left the restaurant!

I decided to visit Kyoto and stayed at a Kyoto travel hotel. I wanted to try Kyoto cuisine, so I visited a restaurant nearby. I was thinking of trying grilled conger eel, but I mentioned to the staff that I don't really like the pickled plum flavor. They made me a grilled conger eel dish instead, and it was incredibly delicious. It was the first time I truly enjoyed conger eel.

I used it for sightseeing in Kyoto at night! The autumn leaves in Arashiyama were not yet in full bloom, but Tenryuji Temple was at its best. The yellowtail was delicious. We mainly had tofu skin and Kyoto cuisine for our meal! The alcohol menu is also excellent. Delicious. The speed of serving alcohol and food was also fast! Thank you for the meal ☺️

We made a reservation for the chef's choice course for four people. The day before, we received a confirmation call and were offered a private room, which we accepted. Since none of us drink alcohol, the pace of the meal was too fast and we ended up waiting a long time for the next dish. The appetizers were nothing special, but the chestnut and lotus root soup in the second course was delicious, with the chestnut enhancing the flavor of the lotus root. Overall, the dishes were too salty and the flavors were overpowering, which was a shame considering the quality ingredients used. While we weren't particularly impressed, we appreciated the cleanliness of the private room where we could enjoy a leisurely meal.

I visited this restaurant when I casually went to Kyoto on a regular day. I made a reservation in advance through Tabelog and used the "Go To Eat" campaign. We reserved the lunch set for 2500 yen and went there. Perhaps because it was past the lunch hour on a weekday, we were the only customers. The staff was very kind and attentive. I was surprised by the size and amount of the salad. The deep-fried sesame tofu was delicious. The tsukune (chicken meatballs) were also very tasty. We were able to enjoy our dessert at a leisurely pace. I hope they continue to do their best and not be defeated by the coronavirus.

I found a nice looking Japanese restaurant near Pontocho where I could enjoy a solo drink at the counter. The restaurant had high ratings on Tabelog, so I decided to give it a try. Although it seemed intimidating from the outside, both the chef and the staff were friendly, which made me feel at ease. I will definitely visit again if I have the chance to go back to Kyoto.

Visited a restaurant I had been curious about. When I mentioned the name, I was directed to the second floor. As I walked to my table, I was already feeling warm and cozy from the atmosphere and the aroma of dashi in the restaurant. I raised a toast with a half-and-half beer and then struggled to decide on a dish from the extensive menu. Eventually, I settled on nanohana mustard salad, the famous grilled tsukune with young chicken and walnut sauce, simmered yellowtail collar with daikon radish, burdock root tempura. The restaurant is known for its delicate and refined flavors, which I personally prefer over stronger tastes found in many other places. I thought the tsukune might be heavily seasoned based on its appearance, but it turned out to be just right. I realized that I prefer to eat tsukune on its own rather than mixed with a rich sauce or egg yolk. The restaurant seems to cater more to older adults rather than younger customers. I also discovered that the restaurant has three floors, despite passing by it often. It was convenient that they offered to hold my coat, so I didn't have to leave it on the floor. The menu is extensive, with both innovative dishes like chicken with walnut sauce and traditional options like simmered yellowtail and nanohana mustard salad. There are still many dishes I want to try, so I look forward to coming back with friends next time.
