I wanted to eat curry and went to Karil, but there was a long line. So, I decided to try this other restaurant that I was curious about. It was just before lunchtime, with only 2 customers ahead of me and no customers behind me. I ordered the red snapper curry and chicken and chickpea side dish (served in small cups, to pour over the rice) for 950 yen. I chose mixed grain rice instead of white rice. For the side dishes, I chose seasonal vegetable pickles and turmeric new onions. The colorful plate was brought to me in a few minutes. As I ate, I felt like something was missing or not quite what I expected. First, the curry in the cups was lukewarm, almost cold. I noticed similar reviews mentioning that the curry was lukewarm in the previous location. I wonder if this is a deliberate choice by the restaurant? I ate quietly, but somehow... Also, the gentle broth and mild saltiness made the curry flavor seem a bit dull to me. The restaurant focuses on health, so they use less oil, which may have muted the aroma of the various spices and the spiciness. Additionally, the default topping of egg whites and yolks seemed to overshadow the curry flavor for me. While I understand it's part of the restaurant's policy, I wish the egg whites and yolks could be optional or served on a separate plate. Looking at the restaurant's website, they use organic vegetables and eggs from a specific farm known for its folic acid content. They seem to have various commitments and considerations. When dining out, I prioritize taste that suits my palate over health, as I already pay attention to eating healthily in my daily life. Even if it's not the healthiest, I want to prioritize flavors that I enjoy occasionally. Therefore, this curry didn't suit my taste. It's not spicy, visually appealing, and popular among health-conscious people. I realized that I prefer curry with plenty of oil, sautéed spices, and a strong flavor profile like at Karil or Mujara. It was a new restaurant, and with limited reviews, I visited without much knowledge, so I learned the importance of reviews. There are curry lovers like me who may feel the same way, so I hope this review is helpful.
