It was a rainy Friday. Five of us who had recently changed jobs left work on time and went to an ethnic restaurant in Kyoto. The restaurant was located along the Kamo River between Shijo and Gojo. Normally, they have riverside seating, but due to the heavy rain, we sat at the counter inside. Although I don't dislike Thai food, I rarely have the opportunity to eat ethnic cuisine, so I was grateful for this chance. The Thai dishes we had were not too spicy or overwhelming, making it easy to enjoy. There were no dishes with a strong cilantro flavor, which was a relief. In a way, it was comforting to be able to eat delicious Thai food without any surprises. Thank you for the meal.

The restaurant is located at the end of a small path leading towards the Kamogawa River from Kiyamachi Street. The interior has a nice blend of Japanese and Asian styles. Although they have a riverside dining area, we chose to sit indoors due to the heat. The dishes were all delicious without being overly spicy. The all-you-can-drink course for 6,000 yen seems very affordable in this setting. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

The table charge for the floor seating is 800 yen. I love Thai food and have been trying out various restaurants, but I think this place has a really high level of taste. I was a bit worried that I had ordered too much, but due to the small portion size, I was able to finish everything easily. For those who want to eat a lot, the cost performance may not be very good. I visited in August and made a reservation for floor seating. I was seated at 5:30 pm in the evening when the temperature was 38℃. I was concerned about how it would be, but the power of the floor was amazing, and I was able to enjoy the food without feeling hot at all. However, I was mercilessly bitten by a swarm of mosquitoes coming through the gaps in the floor, so I recommend using insect repellent when dining on the floor. The crab in the Poo Pha Pong Curry turned out to not be soft shell crab, and despite soft drinks being around 600 yen per glass, the juice tasted like watered-down ordinary juice, which was disappointing. The initial customer service from the male staff member was shockingly bad, and I even got mistaken for a staff member by a female customer at another table who was loudly causing a scene, but the view and delicious food made me forget all about it. Thank you for the meal.

There are various Thai restaurants in Kyoto, but my favorite is a place with great taste and atmosphere. The menu is easy to understand and helpful. In the summer, they also have traditional floor seating. The dishes are authentic but easy to eat with well-balanced seasoning. My recommendation is the pineapple fried rice!

I reserved the 10,000 yen course and visited the restaurant. Due to heavy rain, we were seated by the window in a sunken kotatsu table. All the other customers were foreigners! It felt like we were in a different country! The course consisted of various Thai dishes, which I really enjoyed. I am very satisfied. I will definitely come back for lunch next time.

There were many Thai staff members. The female staff were very kind. The interior of the restaurant was quite dark when I went at night. It felt a bit like a shared table situation, but it didn't bother me much. (Seating with your back to the outside might make you feel a bit disappointed?) If you want to fully enjoy the atmosphere, I think dining on the riverside terrace after May is the best. Lunchtime also seems nice. The Pad Thai I had with beer was delicious! (Going to the restroom can make you feel like you're in a different world, which is also recommended)

A friend made a reservation for us, and there were 5 of us visiting for the first time. I didn't know the name of the restaurant, but I had a feeling there was a Thai restaurant in the back, so I was very excited. We opted for the 6000 yen course, which I believe included a 2-hour all-you-can-drink option for 2300 yen. <Course Menu (7 items)> - Glass noodle and seafood salad (Yam Wun Sen, it was lukewarm...) - Tofu with basil stir-fry (I don't think this was included...?) - Thai-style omelette with chicken (It seemed like a spring roll) - Fried potatoes with Thai sauce - Chicken stir-fried with cashew nuts - Rice dish: Choose one - Green curry or Pad Thai (Thai-style fried noodles) - Dessert (I don't remember...) *The dishes may vary depending on the ingredients of the day. <Drink Menu (17 items)> Beer: The Premium Malt's (draft) Chu-hai: Grapefruit, Kiwi, Yuzu, Lychee, Black tea Shochu: Barley, Sweet potato Highball: Regular, Angle Wine Sour: Akadama Punch, Non-alcoholic Plum wine Cassis Orange Taste All Free (non-alcoholic) Soft drinks: Oolong tea, Cola, Ginger ale, Orange juice Overall, it was just okay. The Yam Wun Sen at the beginning had a strong Thai flavor and was delicious, but it was lukewarm and had a slight smell of shrimp. The stir-fried eggplant with pork, fried shrimp with spicy sauce, spring rolls, potatoes, and fried chicken (Yangnyeom Chicken) were all tasty, but the seasoning seemed more like Korean cuisine than Thai. The finale was the Green Curry, which was not spicy but extremely salty! The saltiness was overpowering, and I couldn't finish it, despite it being one of my favorite dishes. The draft beer from the all-you-can-drink option was good, as were the various fruit shochu highballs. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice, but I wish the food had been better. The price for what we got makes it hard to consider returning, but I'm glad I had the chance to visit for the first time.

Located a bit further from Gojo Street, around the area where the street along the Takase River is a bit quieter. This old Japanese house facing the Kamo River offers a riverside dining experience, catering to tourists, but the flavors are quite authentic. Especially, if you order the Thai-style dish, the spiciness will definitely leave your stomach in turmoil the next day.

I usually go to Gion for lunch, but today I decided to walk a bit further to Kiyamachi. As I strolled down a narrow street towards the Kamogawa River, I stumbled upon a restaurant with a Thai flag. It was around 2 o'clock when I decided to give it a try, and luckily they had a table available. The view from the table overlooked the river, and I heard they have riverside dining in the summer. We ordered a set of Thai fried rice and green curry, both mild in spiciness and very delicious. The chili sauce on the salad was also addictive. Looking at the pictures on the walls, it seems even Prince Akishino visited this place in the past. I'm very satisfied with finding this lovely restaurant.

The server at the restaurant seemed to be new or had to work unexpectedly, as they didn't know much about the dishes. However, their service was polite so it was not unpleasant. The food was delicious, but it didn't look as good in the red container. Maybe it's just for appearance. It's hot at the riverside dining area, so avoid summer lunches there.

Kyoto, Kawaramachi, Kiyamachi Matsubaraue, "Fusharakan" Thai lunch. When it comes to Thai cuisine, it is very popular in Osaka and Kyoto. In fact, Thai restaurants are abundant all over Japan. In Asia, along with Chinese cuisine, you can find Thai restaurants everywhere. This shows how popular Thai cuisine is. There are many types of dishes, each with a diverse flavor. Many restaurants offer affordable prices. In simple terms, there are many affordable and delicious restaurants, making it easy to remember and visit Thai restaurants frequently. On this day, I had some business to attend to in Kawaramachi Gojo. I had heard that there was a delicious Thai restaurant nearby. The name of the restaurant was "Fusharakan." I was a bit hesitant because it was located in the heart of Kyoto's busiest and touristy area. The name sounded stylish, and I wondered if it was the kind of place where ordinary folks like me would casually come for a drink. By the way, at this point, the prohibition of alcohol had not been enforced. I arrived at the entrance. It was in the back of a Kyoto-style machiya alley. It had a nice atmosphere, and it seemed like an old house had been renovated into a restaurant. I took off my shoes at the entrance and was led to a spacious room on the left. It was a pleasant space. I wondered if the veranda would be used as a cool place in the summer. It felt like that kind of place. The customers were mostly tourists, young couples who didn't seem to be Japanese. The staff also seemed to be Thai. I looked at the menu. Should I go for the one named after the restaurant? Fusharakan Plate Special Green Curry Shrimp Prawn Toast Thai-style Omelette Glass Noodle Salad Dessert I waited for quite some time. I started with a glass of wine. Wine goes well with Thai cuisine. In fact, I'm not a big fan of beer right now. I then had the plate. The green curry had a very mild flavor. The spiciness was hidden behind the coconut's richness, but it was quite gentle. The other side dishes were not particularly outstanding. They seemed to be designed for a multicultural tourist audience. It wasn't exactly the kind of flavor profile that street food lovers like us would rave about. The service was excellent in a very clean and stylish environment. It was a wonderful place. The dessert was also stylish. Thank you for the meal. Restaurant Name "Fusharakan" Genre Thai cuisine, creative cuisine Address 173-1 Minoya-cho, Kiyamachi Matsubaraue, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto Phone 050-5595-3282 Business Hours 11:30-15:00, 17:00-22:00 Closed on Wednesdays Menu in Japanese Language Japanese Thank you very much.

On a certain day of Southeast Asian gourmet food exploration, we visited Butsarakkan, located in Kyoto's Kiyamachi Takatsuji along the Kamogawa River. This restaurant, which used to be a tea house, offers a unique Kyoto cultural experience with its Thai cuisine. The menu includes lunch sets such as Green Curry Plate, Khao Pad Plate, Khao Man Gai Plate, Pad Thai Plate, Gapao Plate, and Red Curry Plate, ranging from ¥1,800 to ¥3,800. The dishes are prepared with a mild Kyoto-style flavor or can be spiced up to match the authentic Thai taste upon request. We tried the Flower Course for ¥3,800, which included a variety of dishes like salads, Gapa tofu, Som Tam, Yam Woon Sen, and Thai-style pork steak. The food was elegantly presented and delicious, showcasing the chef's understanding of Japanese taste preferences. The meal was served in a charming bamboo basket, adding to the overall dining experience. Overall, we enjoyed a leisurely Thai cuisine course in a serene and stylish setting.

Sightseeing in Kyoto, the Red Curry Thai Style plate costs 1300 yen. It is a truly spicy red curry in Thai style. The spiciness mainly comes from chili peppers, so if you remove them, it becomes more manageable. The taste is a standard red curry with a balance of spiciness and sweetness, which is delicious, but the amount of curry sauce is a bit lacking. Considering the location along the Kamo River, it is not too expensive, but I wish there was a bit more sauce. Thank you for the meal!

Had lunch at Fusarakan, a Thai restaurant in Kiyamachi. The location is great with a view of the Kamogawa River! The lunch menu includes plate lunches and courses. The plate lunches have 6 options (1300 yen) - Fusarakan Plate, Khao Pad Plate, Khao Man Gai Plate, Pad Thai Plate, Gapao Plate, and Red Curry Plate. The lunch courses are available in 2 options (2980 yen and 3800 yen), as well as a limited lunch (2500 yen) and a select lunch (1800 yen). I had the Gapao Plate which came with Gapao rice, soup, vermicelli salad, and tapioca dessert. The soup and vermicelli salad were quite spicy! The Gapao was mildly spicy, and it was delicious when mixed with rice. It tasted even better when mixed with the soft-boiled egg. This is a hidden gem of a Thai restaurant in Kiyamachi. Highly recommended for those who enjoy spicy food!

When it comes to summer traditions in Kyoto, it's all about "kawadoko" - terrace dining along the Kamo River. The menu includes appetizers like tom yum goong, salad, and spring rolls. For the main course, you can choose between two options - on this day, it was stir-fried beef and okra tempura wrapped in conger eel. Everything was delicious. For rice dishes, you can choose from green curry, pad thai, and khao man gai. Since there were four of us, we tried all the main dishes and rice dishes.

Overall rating: ◯△ For going with family: △ For drinking: ◯ We went as a family, but the restaurant only had a counter and had more of a bar-like atmosphere, so it was not suitable for going to eat Thai food with family. The fried rice, green curry, red curry, etc. were all tasty, but the portions were small. It might be just right if you're drinking alcohol while eating. For lunch, the cost performance might be better.

During a midday stroll, I stumbled upon a charming restaurant that caught my eye. Since I was in the mood for riverside dining, I decided to take a chance and step inside! The exterior had a cozy, homey feel to it. I chose a table by the river, which was simply delightful. Although I was already full from my previous drinks, I couldn't resist ordering Pad Thai – a dish I love. It was delicious! I wish I could have tried more dishes, so I'll definitely be returning during the riverside dining season.

I had lunch at the "Bussarakan" Thai restaurant at the "Kamogawa Noryo Yuka" as I do every year around this time. The restaurant is set up with bamboo blinds as a roof, so it can get a bit hot during sunny afternoons. My husband wasted no time and started with a beer while enjoying the view of the Kamogawa River. We opted for the recommended seasonal course menu (2,100 yen) which was delightful. The appetizers were served in a traditional Japanese-style box, making it fun to open and discover what's inside. The meal included omelette, Thai-style tempura with shrimp and fish, glass noodle salad, chili sauce stir-fried chicken, and Tom Yum Kung soup (which was delicious but I still don't like cilantro). For the main course, we chose between Thai-style fried rice & noodles or Thai curry (both were tasty). We also tried Thai iced tea for the first time, which was creamy and delicious. For dessert, we had tapioca milk and mango ice cream. My husband was also pleased with the meal and we had a great time dining there.
