SAVVY featured a white Mont Blanc cake here. Mont Blanc means "white mountain" in French, but I have rarely seen a white Mont Blanc cake. As a Mont Blanc hunter, I feel the urge to visit this place. However, they do not have an eat-in option, which makes it challenging for me. Many places stop selling Mont Blanc cakes in the spring, but this place sells them year-round. I visited on a perfect Saturday afternoon around 12:30 when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. They had not sold out of the cake at that time. I asked them to reserve one for me and returned around 3:00 PM. By then, more than half of the cakes in the showcase were sold out, including the Mont Blanc. The remaining cakes were mostly chocolate-based. It seems like this place specializes in chocolate even though it's spring. This day, I was planning to visit multiple dessert places, so I bought only a few cakes. It took me about 15 minutes to walk to the next place, but these cakes are delicate and fragile, not suitable for carrying around. I wish there was a cafe nearby where I could enjoy them. The Mont Blanc cake cost 600 yen (tax included), and it had meringue with chestnut cream and crushed chestnuts inside, coated with white chocolate. It had a soft texture overall, without a significant contrast in texture. It was a delicate cake, but I couldn't find words to describe it. It was delicious but didn't leave a lasting impression for me to want to try it again. As a chestnut lover, I might prefer a regular Mont Blanc cake with a stronger chestnut flavor. The Amply cake cost 660 yen (tax included), with pistachio dough, cherry, and pistachio cream, coated with pistachio white chocolate. It had a moist texture overall. I liked this cake more than the Mont Blanc. Describing the deliciousness of these cakes is challenging. Cakes in Kyoto are generally pricey, including this one. However, they offer many mousse-based cakes that I enjoy. For me, it's more important if the cake suits my taste and if it brings a sense of excitement beyond its price. I have only tried two cakes here, so I hope to find a dessert that truly impresses me on my next visit.
