It was raining and muggy, so I cooled down with a cold beer and some long shrimp tempura! The tempura was crispy and delicious, and it paired well with the beer. The sweet sauce was a nice touch too! The rolled omelette also looked tasty, so I'll try ordering that next time!

The restaurant is located in Nishiki Market. I entered at 1 pm on the weekend and there were a few empty seats, so I was seated right away. Most of the customers are tourists, and they leave soon after finishing their meal, so the turnover is fast. I ordered the "Joten-don set meal". After a while, a luxurious meal was brought to me. Kyoto-style obanzai dishes were placed in front of me, followed by the Joten-don. I tried the freshly fried shrimp tempura first. The batter was crispy and the shrimp inside was moist and tender. The sauce was sweet. The large eggplant tempura had a satisfying crunch. The shiso leaf had a salty flavor, which was a nice accent to the sweet sauce. The vegetable tempura was also crispy, with a great texture. When I cracked open the egg tempura, a runny yolk came out. Mixing the yolk with the rice was delicious. The obanzai dishes had different seasonings, which refreshed my palate in between bites of the tempura bowl. The dashimaki tamago had a gentle flavor with a rich dashi taste. It was a bit pricey, but the meal was filling and delicious. The service had a Kyoto-like feel, which I got used to quickly. If you visit Nishiki Market, be sure to try this place.

The tempura was crispy and delicious. I arrived at 11 o'clock and the portion was generous, I was so full that it might affect my afternoon work. Most restaurants start serving lunch from 11:30, so it was convenient that this place was open early.

Having breakfast at "Nishiki". It is Nishiki Market in Kyoto. When coming to this market, I usually walk from Karasuma to Teramachi. Last year, I visited in the afternoon and bought various things. It's been about half a year since then. Even in this half year, many things have changed. In the morning at Nishiki, how many years has it been? Among the shops in Nishiki, "Hirano" and the neighboring "Inoue" have always attracted customers steadily. I heard that "Inoue" has relocated to Shimogamo. On a weekday morning around 9 o'clock, I noticed the sign for "breakfast" at this shop as there were few customers, so I decided to stop by. I chose the "Fish Set Meal" (1,050 yen) - as shown in the photo. The fish of the day was salted mackerel. I was also tempted by the "Pork Loin Saikyo Yaki" in the "Meat Set Meal", but in the end, I chose the fish. The main dish was salted mackerel, accompanied by 8 side dishes, along with rolled omelette and smiling seaweed. Yes, both Hirano and the neighboring Inoue were particular about not calling their dishes "obanzai", but rather "side dishes" or "main dishes". Although it is less resistant now due to the changing times, in the Showa era, there were no shops shamelessly using the term "obanzai" on their signs. I have written about this in various shops before, but the image of the Kyoto people towards the word "obanzai" was more of a humble thing, yet the time has come when it can be used as a selling point. As for the content, it was breakfast. The salted mackerel was actually quite tasty, with firmer flesh than I expected. The side dishes included "Tetsuna Konnyaku", "Komatsuna", "Kinpira Gobo", "Yuba Takano", "Salted Sweet Potato", "Bamboo Shoots", "Hijiki", and "Shibazuke Pickles". Hirano's "Tetsuna Konnyaku" was particularly to my liking. It was gentle, elegant, and refined. The simmered dishes like "Komatsuna" and "Hijiki" had a gentle dashi flavor typical of Hirano. Things that I used to find unsatisfying when I was younger, I now realize have a certain charm as I have gotten older. Yes, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal. I actually had breakfast at 7 o'clock on that day. (laughs) So, I asked for less rice. When I paid, I saw the mother I remembered, so I greeted her. "Both Inoue and Hirano are doing well, but Hirano's dishes are not too salty and have a nice taste," I said. We both chuckled quietly. Ah, I shouldn't have written that so openly... (laughs) * I found a draft from May 2015 that I rated as "3.5", but I updated it by deleting it this time. (Responsibility: Kyonatsu Shuusora, July 18, 2023) (118 reviews/3.45)

I came across a breakfast set for 980 yen that didn't seem like a tourist spot, but I couldn't help but be drawn in. The highlight was the thick rolled omelette, which was included in the breakfast menu. Despite not expecting much, the side dishes on the plate were all delicious and homemade, exceeding my expectations in terms of cost performance. Of course, the restaurant's Ginko's egg omelette was fluffy, warm, and very tasty. One of my friends even bought an egg toast on the way back. If the hotel breakfast is not great, it might be worth extending your trip to visit this place. Highly recommended.

Today, I decided to change up my morning routine by exploring a new restaurant called Nishiki Hirano in Nishiki Market, located near Shijo-Karasuma where I work. Despite the early hour, Nishiki Market was bustling with energy, and I discovered that there are even places where you can drink in the morning! I ordered the fish set meal for 940 yen, which came with rice, a variety of side dishes, salted mackerel, seaweed, miso soup, and a delicious rolled omelette. The freshly made rolled omelette was steaming hot and had a gentle dashi flavor. The eight side dishes were diverse and tasty. However, I was a bit disappointed by the portion size of the rice, which seemed small compared to the amount of side dishes. It may be that this restaurant caters more towards tourists. The staff were excellent and provided great service. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. #Nishiki Hirano #Delicious set meal restaurant #Cozy atmosphere #Gourmet #Want to connect with gourmet lovers #Want to connect with set meal lovers #Wide variety of lunch menu #Instagrammable dining spot #Want to connect with side dish lovers #Instagrammable side dishes #Delicious rolled omelette #Photo spot in Kyoto #Want to connect with breakfast lovers #Kyoto city #Kyoto gourmet #Shijo Station #Nishiki Market #Gourmet in Kyoto Prefecture #Delicious breakfast! #Japan #Kyoto #Gourmet #Japanese food #Popular side dish restaurant

A century-old delicatessen at Nishiki Market where you can eat the purchased side dishes inside the store. I bought a thick-cut dashimaki sandwich (600 yen). It was a delicious egg sandwich made with fluffy Kyoto-style dashimaki filled with plenty of broth and sandwiched between bread. They accepted PayPay payments. If you liked the review, please follow the account and save the store.

I had been wanting to visit this restaurant since the day before. When I finally went, just before the last order time, there were only a few groups of customers inside. The menu for that day was chicken with miso marinade for the meat option, and grilled salted mackerel for the fish option. I chose the meat dish. The miso-marinated chicken was really delicious, and the rice disappeared quickly. The cost performance was also good, as it was less than 1000 yen. I would like to visit this restaurant again if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.

I revisited because it was delicious last time. However, this time, it was served cold and cut in half probably due to the crowd, unlike last time when it was hot and had a rich broth, so it was not as good as before. It was still tasty, but not as good as last time. Thank you for the meal.

After enjoying Hokusai at Nishiki Market in Kyoto, I had breakfast at "Nishiki Hirano". I chose fish without hesitation. It was mackerel! The main attraction was the dashimaki tamago. So delicious! The mackerel was also very tasty. The other side dishes were delicious too. The dashimaki tamago was so good that I might even prefer it over sunny-side-up eggs. A satisfying breakfast, thank you.

I stopped by for lunch today and ordered shrimp tempura for 400 yen and a dashimaki burger for 300 yen. This shop, located in the famous Nishiki Market, serves not only tempura and set meals but also offers a long shrimp tempura that many people enjoy eating in the seating area. The shrimp tempura is pre-fried and served cold, but the shrimp is firm and tasty. The dashimaki burger has only dashimaki tamago as filling, with a delicious sauce on top. The prices are a bit touristy, but the food was quickly devoured. Thank you for the meal.

I had bought the tamagoyaki from this shop at a department store in Tokyo, and I had been wanting to visit the shop for a while. Finally, I got the chance to go. I ordered my favorite, tempura bowl, and it looked delicious. It came with tempura, side dishes, and a large dashimaki tamago, which was a great deal. The tempura was crispy and just right in terms of texture, and the sauce was tasty. It was a good value for the price. The portion was generous, and towards the end, I was already full but forced myself to finish it. It was delicious. I was surprised to find out that the side dishes were not additive-free, as they had various additives. They were tasty, but it would have been even better without any additives.

The portion was larger than it looked, and I was full. I used to buy dashimaki often, but it tasted even better when I reheated it at home. It was a bit disappointing to see pre-made dishes being served at the restaurant. The tempura was delicious. For this price, this quality is quite good. Overall, a good experience, but the dashimaki was a letdown.

Nishiki Hirano is located near the intersection of Nishiki Market and Sakaimachi Street, where the arcade is disappearing. It is close to Daimaru Kyoto store in Shijo Kawaramachi, a major shopping district in Kyoto. Nishiki Hirano is a century-old deli shop in Nishiki Market, selling 50 to 60 types of homemade deli dishes. The atmosphere in Kyoto is such that shops founded in the Meiji era cannot be called long-established. The shop is spacious with a deli section in the front and an eat-in space in the back. The system involves ordering at the counter, being guided to a table, and then settling the bill at the cashier. The breakfast set includes a choice of fish or meat set for 940 yen, with the fish of the day being mackerel. The famous Kyoto-style dashimaki tamago is made by craftsmen using bonito and kelp broth. The food is subtly flavored and the rice is delicious. The main mackerel dish is well-cooked and tasty. The breakfast includes a variety of pickles, miso soup, nori, grilled fish, and is a delightful Japanese meal. Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 10:15, while lunch is served from 11:00 to 14:30.

It's fun to take a detour at Nishiki Market (ebi tempura skewers, dashimaki Nishiki Market) on November 16, 2022. On a holiday evening, take a stroll at Nishiki Market. There are so many delicious things that it's hard to decide. I was drawn to the voluminous ebi tempura skewers. There's also a great set with beer! The back of the shop has an eat-in space. Let's take a break here. Let's dig in! The shrimp is plump and covered in a sweet sauce. It goes really well with beer! I enjoyed munching on it. It was a great snack. On the way back, I noticed that the dashimaki is also famous here. I used to buy bento boxes at Daimaru department store sometimes, so I missed out. I wish I had tried the dashimaki (or umaki). I'll save it for next time!

I had the tempura rice bowl lunch at Nishiki Hirano in the middle of Nishiki Market, a Kyoto cuisine kitchen. The set comes with a variety of side dishes that are light and perfect for the summer in Kyoto. The tempura rice bowl with plenty of Kyoto vegetables is delicious and filling. The miso soup and especially the rolled omelette are also very tasty. Overall, everything was satisfying and reasonably priced.

I went to try out a breakfast that I was curious about! The breakfast cost 940 yen and you can choose between fish and meat dishes. The breakfast menu changes daily, and on the day I went, there were two options: teriyaki chicken and salt-grilled mackerel. I chose the mackerel. What was nice is that it came with a rolled omelette, and you could choose the filling. Options included green onions, ginger, beef, or plain. I chose beef since I had picked the fish as the main dish. After a short wait, the breakfast arrived with 8 side dishes, the main fish dish, rice, and miso soup. Everything was delicious! The fatty fish was tasty, and each side dish was really good! The miso soup had a strong dashi flavor too! For 940 yen, this breakfast was quite affordable in Kyoto. Many traditional Japanese breakfasts in Kyoto can cost over 1000 yen. And the freshly cooked rolled omelette was so delicious! I was completely satisfied with this breakfast. It's so good that it could easily have a line of people waiting for it! The food from Nishikihirano is sold in department stores, and the quality of the side dishes really showed. I highly recommend this place, and I hope it continues to be popular so that many people can enjoy it!

I was surprised to see many shops in Nishiki Market that had been renovated to include seating for eating in. One of these shops was Hirano, which had a breakfast menu available. I tried the "Hirano Morning Set" for 940 yen, which included a choice of fish or meat. I chose the mackerel that day. The set came with a variety of small side dishes, and I opted for the rolled omelette with green onions.

This is my first visit. It is located inside Nishiki Market. They specialize in dashimaki. I ordered a half portion of dashimaki, shrimp tempura skewers, fried chicken, and beer to enjoy in the seating area. I started with the beer! I'm not a big fan of Premium Malt's, but when it's hot and it's from Kyoto Brewery, it's delicious. The dashimaki lived up to my expectations in terms of flavor! The fried chicken was also tasty. The shrimp tempura skewers looked good too.

I visited during the Gion Festival and tried the dashimaki tamago, which had a nice balance of flavors with a delicious dashi taste. It was really good. I got the half size for 400 yen around 4:30 pm, so it was half price! Even though I had brought beer from another store, they kindly allowed me to bring it in saying, "It's a festival, so it's okay." The ebi tempura was longer than my face and got me excited, and it had shrimp all the way to the end.
