The other day, when my family went to Roin for a meal, we saw this poster. It featured a delicious-looking steak pilaf. Intrigued, we decided to give it a try. We arrived at Shin-Hankyu just before noon and headed to the restaurant located on the B1 floor. It was tucked away in a narrow passage between Shirakura and Minoruyoshi. The restaurant had a slightly dim bar-like atmosphere. Inside, there were only table seats, with a bar counter that seemed suitable for drinks in the evening. While the curry lunch is famous, we were there for the 35th-anniversary special, the Steak Sansai Pilaf priced at 1,500 yen. We placed our order and shortly after, we were served with salad, pickles, and chopped green beans. About 10 minutes later, the Steak Sansai Pilaf arrived. The steak was on the smaller side, and the pilaf portion was modest, different from what was depicted on the poster. The steak, likely imported, was tender with a slight firmness and lacked the natural flavor and aroma of meat. It had a subtle soy sauce flavor. The sansai pilaf had a buttery and soy sauce aroma, with plenty of wild vegetables, and was cooked on a hot plate. Overall, it was quite tasty. We finished the meal, which also came with coffee or tea. I opted for coffee, which was decent. The combination of butter-cooked rice and steak from the hot plate worked well. The service was good, and at a fixed price of 1,500 yen including tax, it was a good deal. We also received a coupon for one free topping for our next visit, so we might try the curry lunch next time.
