I visited the restaurant with two friends for lunch. It is located in the mountains of Oeyama in Fukuchiyama City. The setting was so secluded that I called to confirm if they were open (laughs). The phone service was friendly and reassuring. The restaurant is set in a large area suitable for wedding receptions, and even though it was drizzling, the greenery in the garden was beautiful enough to enjoy. We walked through the garden approach to enter the restaurant. I had actually visited once before when it first opened with my husband, and I remember feeling disappointed back then. I was excited to visit an Italian restaurant in the middle of the mountains, but the service (by a young male staff member) was so high-handed that I barely remember what we ordered. It felt like we, as locals, were being treated as country bumpkins. But back to the present. The building now had a more settled and welcoming atmosphere. The lunch menu included a special dessert lunch for ¥1800, a recommended course lunch for ¥2700, a beef lunch for ¥4000, and a beef full course lunch for ¥5000. We chose the recommended course. There were three pasta options, all of which looked delicious, but I chose risotto and my friend chose spaghetti with bean cream sauce! For the fish dish, we had sea bass, and for the meat dish, we had pork shoulder loin. We were both hungry, so we opted for the pork. The kitchen was partially open, and that day, the chef was handling everything alone. Time seemed to flow quietly. There were three other groups of customers - a group of three women, a group of three men and women who seemed like business people, and us. I had thought we might be the only ones there, so it was a bit surprising (sorry!). It might be easier for people from Fukuchiyama to come rather than from Miyazu City, so maybe that's why there were more customers from Fukuchiyama. The appetizer platter was a delightful surprise, filled to the brim with a variety of items. The soup was a cold corn potage, with a sweet corn flavor that was delicious. Despite talking non-stop, we quickly finished our plates. The first dish was a plate of prosciutto and edamame risotto in a carbonara style, with a nice milky texture and a gentle presence of the beans. My friend's broccoli, zucchini, and small shrimp spaghetti in bean cream sauce looked delicious with its beautiful light green sauce. The second dish was a generous serving of meat, accompanied by grilled vegetables that almost covered the plate. We were already full, but the dessert was a mix of fruits, cakes, mousses, and ice cream - a feast for the eyes! I wasn't sure if I could finish it all, but I found room for it (laughs). At ¥2700 (including tax), I think it's a reasonable price. The service, which I was worried about, was impeccable, with friendly female staff members paying attention to every detail. I must bring my husband next time. I think he will be impressed. I'd like to try going in the evening, but that mountain road... I'm sure we'll encounter something on the way. I hope someone will accompany me.
