I had a curry trio set for 1900 yen and an egg roll for 550 yen. The curry trio included chicken curry, shrimp coconut curry, and flounder and potato chochchori. It was a bit pricey but worth it. The egg roll was something new for me, made with fried bread dough and filled with ingredients. The restaurant is located right next to the Yellow Mountain Manpukuji Temple. It's within walking distance from the Keihan Uji Line and JR Nara Line's Obaku Station. The restaurant is set in a traditional house, but the Indian-style seating on tatami mats might be tough on the knees and back for seniors. There are about three counter seats available, so if you have concerns, I recommend reserving a counter seat.

On Saturday at 12 o'clock, I went with my younger child to the restaurant. Surprisingly, it was not crowded, so we could sit at our favorite table. I took off my shoes and sat on the tatami mat. The food was served on a low table (like a large tray). The dishes were too low, making it a bit difficult to eat in a proper posture, so I leaned forward in a seiza position. The biryani was served in a deep ceramic bowl, giving it a Japanese-style look which was cool. Inside, there were boiled eggs, chunks of beef, and whole potatoes, all mixed together and tasted really good. I think I prefer biryani over curry. The restroom was located along the courtyard and had a very clean and traditional Japanese tile design. The remote control for the heated toilet seat felt a bit out of place.

I had been interested in the Curry Design Office for a while, and when I heard that they were hosting an exhibition of Iwami tiles, I decided to visit. The owner used to work in architectural design in Shimane, and returned home to open this curry restaurant and design office. It seems like a special connection that Iwami Kiln from Shimane is holding an exhibition here... I heard that Iwami tiles are used throughout the restaurant. The exhibition mainly featured tableware made of tiles, including heat-resistant tile tableware for direct fire use, which I also purchased. As for the curry, it was a limited menu for takeout only during the exhibition, but luckily there was space at the counter for us to eat there. My partner had the shrimp coconut curry and venison curry, while I had the chicken curry and keema curry, both ordered as a combination of two. The turmeric rice on the plate was topped with cilantro, and there were plenty of side dishes. The curry sauce was not too spicy overall, with just the right amount of spices, making it easy to eat. Honestly, when eating these kinds of curries, I always start by trying each flavor separately, but end up mixing them all together and getting confused. Personally, I found the keema curry to be the most delicious, but I still prefer simple Japanese curry rice... By the way, my partner was disappointed that the venison was a bit tough. *There are 4 parking spaces in front of the restaurant.

The appearance was fun from the start. Tuk-tuk welcomed us♪ It was a fun building that made me think it was designed by an architect or designer♪ The curry with a strong Bengali flavor was delicious! There were 3 types of curry: chicken, coconut, and mackerel. The mackerel had a lot of bones and was a bit difficult ( ˊ•̥ ̯ •̥`). The blue chili pepper on the side was really spicy... The double egg chicken roll had a junky feel and was more delicious than I imagined, which was irresistible in the Kansai region where the culture of flour-based snacks is strong♪ I had chai and ginger ale after the meal. The ginger ale was not very stimulating... There were grated ginger pieces at the bottom. The area where you take off your shoes and enter was very low, making it a bit difficult to eat. There is a rental space at the back made for large groups. Thank you for the authentic curry that we can't have at home. Thank you for the meal!

Stylish exterior and interior that you wouldn't expect from a curry restaurant. The staff were very friendly and the curry was delicious! However, personally, I still prefer Japanese rice.

Appearance and interior: A stylish old folk house with a rating of 3 stars. However, the tables seem too low for elderly people, so sitting at the counter might be better. Taste: Since brown rice itself doesn't have much flavor, the curry was also mild in taste. Personally, I didn't feel a strong punch overall, but I did get to experience the authentic taste. I went to a curry restaurant that I had been interested in for a while. The restaurant is a traditional Japanese house with an auto rickshaw at the entrance. It has 4 counter seats and 5 tatami rooms. The tatami rooms are surprisingly spacious! The restaurant opened in May this year, so it is very clean and has a gentle atmosphere, making it a lovely place. From the menu, I ordered the popular chicken and shrimp curry set for 1250 yen. It arrived! The shrimp curry has a whole shrimp on top of the rice, very luxurious! I started with the shrimp curry. The shrimp's umami flavor, sweetness, and richness were delicious! The crunchy texture of the onions and the crispy cilantro in the rice were enjoyable! Next was the chicken curry! It has half a potato in it, almost like soup curry! Delicious and fluffy! The curry is slightly spicy compared to the shrimp curry. The sweetness of the potatoes balances it out perfectly. The chicken is tender and delicious, and the curry has a sweet finish! The lentil soup as a service was like curry-flavored mashed potatoes. The vegetables were fresh and sweet, especially the raw purple onions were surprisingly sweet! Both the shrimp and chicken were delicious until the end! There was only one green chili pepper in the curry, which I accidentally ate and found it very spicy, but overall, the flavors were mild and gentle. I had seen some reviews saying that there was too much rice and not enough curry, so I was hesitant to go, but it was completely different! I even considered getting an extra-large portion because the rice portion felt insufficient! Maybe it was because I ordered the 2 types of curry set, but the shrimp curry, in particular, was visually luxurious and delicious! I want to go back again! I added chai with the drink set for an additional 250 yen. It had a lot of spices but was gentle. The service was bright and very friendly, making me feel warm and cozy. The restaurant also has a rental space where tabla and mirror embroidery classes are held. It's so wonderful! They also have live music performances, and I love the sound of the tabla, so I definitely want to go again! The logo on the business card was cute too. I went around 1:30 pm and almost had the place to myself. The restaurant is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 11 am. They have parking space for 4 cars. They are closed until September 12, 2021, due to the state of emergency, so I hope they reopen soon. ⭐️

I went during the daytime on a regular day! It seems to be a very popular restaurant, but unfortunately they were out of the limited summer vegetable curry...! I ordered the chicken curry and the W chicken roll! The chicken curry was smooth and light, and the shredded chicken was very delicious. The onion chips on top of the rice were crispy and tasty! And the W chicken roll!! It's a street food-like dish where chicken is wrapped in a bread-like skin, but it was delicious! The crispy skin wrapped around the chicken with chili sauce was a hearty and tasty flavor that I really liked~ Just with beer and chicken rolls, I feel like I could be completely satisfied, thank you for the meal!

I finally got to visit a restaurant that I had been curious about for a long time! I chose the chickpea curry, while my companion opted for the chicken curry and shrimp curry. Despite arriving after 12 o'clock, the shrimp curry was the last one available, and one other curry was already sold out. The curry tasted authentic and the spices were delicious. However, when eaten with cilantro, the cilantro overpowered the flavors, which was a shame because I love cilantro. I would have appreciated more cilantro as a bonus. Also, having only one type of curry meant that there was too much rice left over. It felt a bit wasteful to have so much rice left over with just a little curry. The staff were warm and friendly, and the interior was stylish and lovely. But I noticed that the elderly gentleman next to us seemed uncomfortable sitting, and the children with him found it difficult to eat without spilling. The seating arrangements may not be very convenient for Japanese people. Despite the nice design, it would be better to have a choice between comfortable seating and tables that are easier for eating. On a side note, I was surprised to see the restaurant's auto rickshaw driving on the public road outside!笑

I had the Saturday special Biryani (Pork) and it was delicious. It was filled with chunks of seared pork belly and boiled eggs, which made me very full.

The atmosphere of the shop and the service of the owner couple were pleasant, and the curry was delicious.

The rain that had been falling until morning stopped, and suddenly a summer sky appeared. I started craving curry, so I went with my son on our bicycles to visit a restaurant. When we arrived at 12:00, the chicken curry was sold out. The exterior of the restaurant looked like an old Japanese house, but the authentic Indian curry was delicious.

"Uji Lunch" opened in May 2021! At the restaurant "Curry Design Office," you can enjoy authentic spice curry that sells out quickly.

It was very delicious. If I had to say something, the curry was a bit lukewarm. They seemed very busy as they had just opened, so I look forward to my next visit. I will definitely go back again. Thank you for the meal.

I was told about an interesting shop in Oboke and waited for Golden Week to end before going there. It's right by Manpuku-ji. The store is a renovated traditional house with an outstanding atmosphere. The reason for the exquisite craftsmanship in the design is that the owner's main job is as an architect. On days off, it seems they work on their main job, but they started a curry shop using their experience in India. It was quite crowded, so I asked for a takeout. The chicken curry with basmati rice was vibrant yellow. The curry with chunks of chicken and potatoes didn't feel very spicy, but it had a depth of flavor from various spices. I also ordered the chicken roll paella, which seemed to be baked like a paella pot. The pastry-like texture was chewy. It had vegetables, rolled eggs, and spices, which I really liked. The takeout container was also well-prepared, and they were attentive even though it was busy. A Bengali cuisine made by Japanese in Oboke. It's already popular, so it's better to make a reservation.
