My wife wanted to go to a place where she could eat a variety of bread, so I researched a few places and decided to visit this one as it seemed to offer the most variety of bread. We ordered the casual course with autumn eggplant Bolognese + extra large portion (for kids) and chicken thigh with basil cheese. Additionally, we added the all-you-can-eat bread option for kids for 350 yen (I may be mistaken about the price). Although there is no children's menu, they mentioned that many people opt to share an adult pasta in a large portion or add the bread option for kids, so we went with that.
[Taste]
Bread: They had a variety of bread including my recent favorite, salted bread, as well as salted chocolate bread, strawberry rusk, sesame cheese, curry flavored bread, yuzu cream, macadamia nut bread, pumpkin bread, French toast, and many more, all of which were delicious.
Appetizer: The mackerel was good but nothing out of the ordinary.
Soup: A regular pumpkin soup.
Pasta: Pasta with all-you-can-eat option tends to be quite ordinary, but this pasta was exceptionally creamy and delicious.
Chicken: The basil sauce was tasty, but the cheese was a bit too solid for my liking. I think it would be better with just powdered cheese.
Dessert: It was okay to not have one. Since it was all-you-can-eat bread, it was nice that they didn't serve something like roll cake but rather something bread-like.
[Cost]
The cost was reasonable considering the all-you-can-eat bread option.
[Service]
This is why I rated it low. Whether it's because it's in Kyoto or the policy of this particular restaurant, none of the staff members were smiling. They all seemed to be trying to act cool, and the service didn't really suit me. It felt like they lacked friendliness. When they brought the bread, it would have been nice if they said something like "Feel free to order more even if you've already ordered a lot." It felt a bit awkward to ask for more bread. They brought the bread twice, but even after clearing the last dish, they should have asked if we wanted more bread until we said we were done.
[Environment]
It's a 2-4 minute walk from Shijo Station, so it's convenient to get to. The restaurant is spacious so it's suitable for children, but the second floor has steep stairs, which may be challenging for people with mobility issues. If the staff's service was more pleasant, it would be a great place to visit!
