I've been wanting to go to Popo Club for a while now. Every time I come to Kameoka, I end up going to the sushi restaurant nearby instead. The menu at Popo Club is illustrated, which is really cool. I think my dog Shiro would love it. I visited in the afternoon and the place was almost full. I ordered the tarako pasta, katsu sandwich, iced coffee, and Shiro dog dessert. The menu was so extensive that I had a hard time deciding. The tarako pasta was good, but I should have gone for the mentaiko pasta instead. The katsu sandwich was smaller than I expected. The iced coffee was delicious. The Shiro dog dessert was cute, and I was hesitant to eat it at first, but I finished it in just a few minutes. It was tasty with both whipped cream and ice cream. I had the Pasta Lunch Menma Mayo Set (large portion). Since my student days, I often came here to eat parfaits. It was here that I learned to eat mentaiko, thanks to their Menma Mayo dish. I don't get to visit often, but next time I want to try their parfait. It was really delicious.

Menma-mayo⁉️ It seems like a specialty with mentaiko spaghetti topped with mayonnaise❓ There's also mentaiko potato salad, so I think it must be delicious*\(^o^)/* It was developed 40 years ago, but looking at the menu, there are so many choices that it's hard to decide~ I'm also curious about the gratin and rice gratin set❣️ Sticking to my original plan, I ordered the mentaiko-mayo spaghetti with a drink and salad for 980 yen, plus 50 yen for the "subtly spicy" habanero menma mayo. The portion of spaghetti is larger than usual, and surprisingly, there are cucumbers on top of the spaghetti⁉️ The habanero flavor is not very strong, just a slight kick. The noodles are cooked just right. Towards the end, when mixing the cucumbers with the noodles, it felt like I was eating cold noodles \(//∇//)\ Yesterday's dinner was spicy mentaiko spaghetti (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵), so it was interesting to compare it with the one at home (￣^￣)ゞ The menu also includes interesting information about the restaurant's commitment to water quality, historical female uniforms, and unique services like offering a 1000 yen voucher for bringing a red ticket for a traffic violation. There are discounts based on your car's license plate number, and explanations about parfaits and sundaes. Parfait means "perfect" in French, so parfaits and sundaes are served in a nostalgic style. I was planning to have desserts at another place, so I passed on the parfaits and sundaes this time. I'm also curious about the old-fashioned Napolitan and will try it with a chocolate sundae next time.

I debated between a sundae and a regular parfait, but ended up choosing both. The sundae was on the smaller side, so you might find it a bit lacking in portion size! Make sure to gauge how hungry you are before ordering!

I visited the famous Popo Club, which is like a nostalgic hometown for people in Nantan. The exterior looks like a chubby drive-in, with a broken stand sign featuring Kumamon and homemade advertisements for foreign cigarettes that are no longer seen today. Inside, there are F1 tires, Hanshin Tigers goods, and a chaotic cafe and restaurant that retains remnants of Showa era. The non-smoking section was full, so I sat in the smoking section. Despite visiting after 1 pm, the parking lot was always full, showing how popular it is. I had a draft beer and mixed fry set meal, surrounded by families and elderly customers reading sports newspapers and drinking coffee. The clientele was mostly locals, about 99%. I chose the "Shiro no Wanko" without hesitation, a pancake with a 3D art dog on top. The dog sticking out its tongue was amazing. The cream was a bit oily and the taste was average, but it's worth a try. There is also a "Kuro no Wanko" available. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!
