I was supposed to be in Shiga, but somehow ended up in Kyoto. I bought the new Coconut Pineapple and Double Mango flavors, as well as the Cheese Bread that was sold out last time. [Summary] Yokankas [pack of three] for 1440 yen. Choose three out of six flavors. Shelf life is about two weeks. Coconut and Pineapple Yokanka are about 40x40mm in size and 15mm thick. It's a coconut jelly with pineapple chunks. The smooth texture of the jelly and the crunchy pineapple pieces create a nice contrast. The milky coconut flavor and the depth of the white bean paste blend well together. It has a tropical taste with a hint of fresh sweetness. I might like it more than pistachio. Mango Yokanka has the same shape as the coconut pineapple one. It's also based on white bean paste, but both the jelly and the fruit are mango, perfect for mango lovers. It has a similar texture to the coconut pineapple one. There's a hint of lemon that adds freshness and prevents it from being too sweet. The Cheese Bread Yokanka has a cheese bread aroma, which is unusual for yokanka. It has a slightly chewy texture compared to the other two flavors. The cracker-like texture inside, along with the cheese flavor, makes it taste like a sweet bread. It's sweet but also slightly salty, making it delicious. It feels like eating a sweet bread snack. Personally, this is my favorite yokanka.

It was hot, so I visited the Shinpukukan connected to Karasuma Oike Station after a long time! There was a shaved ice shop there, so I went around 2 pm on a weekday! I had a roasted green tea shaved ice. It was served in a bowl-like shape, about 25cm in size! It was impressive! It was delicious, and you could also get free warm roasted green tea. It was great! ♫

The summer peak season is always crowded at Tasuki-san, but surprisingly I was able to enter smoothly without waiting in line in September. The recommended shaved ice with caramelized fig was delicious. I look forward to trying the different recommended shaved ice flavors each month. The service is polite and the atmosphere is cozy. It was a shame that the usual friendly and humble male staff member was not there that day. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I couldn't bear the scorching heat of 36 degrees, so I finally visited the shaved ice shop that I had been curious about. However, I had to wait for 60 minutes on a Friday afternoon. They issued a QR code at check-in, which allowed me to check the current waiting time and go out if I wanted to. Waiting in the heat was tough. I ordered the limited-time only Apple Mango shaved ice (not available for takeout). It was served in an antique bowl with a fluffy sauce, and there were pieces of mango inside the ice. However, compared to Taiwanese mango shaved ice, I thought there were fewer mango slices and it was quite expensive.

I visited this place because the Gion branch was closed. I tried the seasonal limited menu and it was consistently delicious. The portion size was perfect for one person, and the free drink was hot hojicha tea. I initially thought I wanted a cold drink or shaved ice until the shaved ice arrived, but having hot hojicha tea while eating shaved ice didn't clash, so I appreciated the consideration for mouth reset.

I went to Yoiyama of the Gion Festival. It was my second visit. I had the Sencha Gin Lime with Sansho pepper that I tried last time and it was so delicious, so I came back again. It was a 1-hour wait, but they notify you when your time is approaching via LINE, so I waited by having tea at a nearby cafe and the time passed quickly. This time, we also ordered the Grapefruit and Cream Cheese dessert to share, and it was also exquisite! I love the atmosphere of Shinpukan and I want to come back again.

It was a very hot day in the middle of the day. I wanted to eat something cold, so I visited this shop in Shinfukan. It was around 5 p.m., but the store was full and I had to wait by pulling a waiting card. After about 5 minutes, I was seated. I wanted to eat a refreshing shaved ice, but the menu gave me the impression of something a little rich. When I saw the gin and lime shaved ice on the menu, I ordered it and the staff asked me, "Are you okay with alcohol?" I had a slight resistance, but I ordered it anyway. When the shaved ice arrived at the table, I was surprised by the volume. When I took a bite, I was amazed at how delicious it was! It was a new discovery. I didn't really feel the alcohol content. I got a little hooked on it, but I probably won't be able to eat it when driving or working, so it looks like it will be limited to holidays.

I wanted to have shaved ice in Kyoto after a long time, so I visited this shop in Shinpukan for the first time since the one in Gion closed down. I have loved shaved ice with tea and alcohol for many years. The appearance, portion size, and taste always impress me. This time, I tried the seasonal limited edition Tiramisu Dark Cherry (available from 6/1 to 6/30). It tasted just like Tiramisu!!! The sweet and sour cherries were a nice touch. Instead of cold water, there was self-service warm hojicha, which paired perfectly with the cold shaved ice. It had been a while since I had this shaved ice, but it was still very delicious. The excitement of trying different seasonal menu items each time is also great.

For a pre-dinner palate cleanser, I had yokan, tea, and sake shaved ice in Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. The total bill was 2,690 yen including tax. The yokan and tea set was 990 yen, which included matcha-infused genmaicha and red wine-infused fig. I also had tiramisu with dark cherries for 1,700 yen. The tiramisu was not too cold, had a nice level of sweetness, and the nuts added a delicious crunch.

I went just before lunchtime on a regular day and was able to enter right away as there was only one group of customers. I ordered at the counter, helped myself to a warm hojicha tea and a wet towel, and waited. I chose the Tiramisu Dark Cherry dessert from June 1st to 30th. The cream and cocoa powder on top were delicious! The slightly bitter coffee over ice melted in my mouth and was delicious again! Occasionally, the compote cherry came out and was delicious again! The balance of sweetness and slight bitterness was perfect until the end.

I have used this place many times. It is very convenient as it is connected to Karasuma Oike subway station. The types of shaved ice change monthly, so I never get tired of going there. Every shaved ice is delicious, and I always enjoy it. If I had to mention a downside, it would be that the store is small... It can get crowded at times, so you may need a numbered ticket. The prices are around ¥1,400 to ¥1,600. Each shaved ice comes in a different container, which is also a fun point to enjoy.

I visited around 1:00 pm and it was very empty. When it was located in Gion, it was always crowded. I tried the limited edition almond shaved ice. It was fluffy and delicious, with almond tofu coming out from the inside.

Almond tofu shaved ice with white bear for ¥1450. This is a shop where you pay before taking a seat. Despite arriving and paying first, two groups of customers who arrived later were served almond shaved ice before us, which was puzzling. The same thing happened to the customers who came after us, making me wonder about the coordination between the hall and the kitchen. The shaved ice was fluffy and plentiful, with almond shaved ice and almond tofu included, making it a delight for almond lovers. However, the flavor became a bit monotonous halfway through, so it would be nice to have something to add a little variety. I would love to come back next year.

There is usually a long line, but today I was able to get in quickly because it was a rainy and chilly day. I tried the classic hojicha parfait. Inside, there was a cream with kinako powder and red beans. The fragrant flavor was irresistibly delicious! Next time, I want to try the seasonal limited edition parfait.

"Tasuki," a popular shaved ice shop in Shinpukan, is a must-visit for shaved ice lovers in Kyoto. The shop used to have main and branch stores in Gion and Kiyomizu areas, but now you can only enjoy their shaved ice at Shinpukan.
One of their popular limited edition items is the Lemon Pie (¥1650). It combines custard, lemon curd, lemon syrup, and more, creating a perfect balance of sweetness and refreshing lemon flavor. What sets this shaved ice apart is the generous amount of ingredients inside the ice, ensuring a delightful experience until the last bite. The addition of crackers alongside the pie is a unique touch that adds a crunchy texture. Overall, it was delicious, and I look forward to trying their other limited edition flavors in the future.

In early April, I went to Kyoto to take photos of the cherry blossoms in full bloom. The heat was quite intense for April, so I quickly got tired and decided to look for shaved ice. I went to this place in Shinpukukan where I received a number from a machine at the entrance. Since there was a long wait, I killed some time and then came back. I ordered the following shaved ice:
- Lemon Pie for 1650 yen: It had lemon cream and burnt meringue on top, giving it a brulee-like texture. The crispy pie crust, creamy milk, and refreshing lemon flavor made it very satisfying. It also had crackers in it.
- Kahlua Milk with Caramel for 1450 yen: This was an adult shaved ice with alcohol. It had whipped cream, nuts, and caramelized Kahlua milk. It was rich and delicious, with a nice balance of flavors.
Overall, the shaved ice was unique and tasty, perfect for cooling down on a hot day.

I highly recommend trying the seasonal limited menu over the regular options! The ice is large in size, allowing for plenty of toppings and fillings in the seasonal limited options. I tried the "Shimizu Ultimate Matcha Tofu" which was filled with grapefruit jelly, daifuku cream, red bean, corn flakes, and more. The white miso cream with tofu flavor was rich and satisfying, and the syrup options of matcha, hojicha, and black honey added extra enjoyment to the dessert!

The last shaved ice of the season was the December limited edition "Nama Daifuku".
- Ordering Method: When there is a wait, you can get a ticket at the entrance machine and pass the time.
- Order: December limited edition "Nama Daifuku".
- Review: The softness of the red bean and white bean cream was irresistible. Inside was a fluffy rice cake, ice cream, fluffy whipped cream. The combination of Japanese and Western flavors was incredibly delicious. I almost finished 70% of it... I had tried Nama Daifuku before, and I only remembered it being deliciously rich. But this time, I felt a slight discomfort... The bottom half of the ice was rock hard... I was eating the crunchy ice.

I heard that the "Berry Berry White" shaved ice that used to be served at the Gion store is now available at Shinpukan, so I went to try it. The one I ordered was the Berry Berry White, which is shaved ice surrounded by whipped cream and filled with pie crust and three types of berries. This shaved ice became famous on Twitter thanks to a certain young lady, and it used to be served in paper plates at Shinpukan, but now they have nice designed plates which are not disposable. The white surface, red berries inside, and blue plate make a beautiful presentation. The shaved ice had a slightly rough texture, which was a bit off-putting at first, but overall it was delicious. I have eaten the Berry Berry White several times at the Gion store before, and the impression was strong, so maybe that's why I noticed the roughness of the ice here at Shinpukan. I would like to go back and try it again.

Tea and Sake Tasuki Shinfukan in Kyoto is a recommended shop. The Baked Tea Honey for 968 yen is the top recommendation! Also, the Seasonal Sake Ice Cassis Orange for 1232 yen is surprisingly delicious, like a float. Shinfukan has various shops offering attractive food from lunch to dinner on Food Street. Check out more at Takumin's Gourmet Diary.

Inside Shinpu-kan, first go to the touch panel in front of the store to check in, scan the QR code on the check-in form, and provide your email address for notification. Orders are notified by email when it's your turn. You can order 2 items at a time, and add more after finishing one. Payment is made in advance when ordering. Self-service for tea and water. Personalized nuts and burnt salted caramel sauce shaved ice for 1400 yen. It has a creamy texture with a fragrant personalized nuts topping. The ice is soft and fluffy. Cassis orange alcohol-infused shaved ice for adults for 1400 yen. It tastes like a cocktail with a cream cheese or yogurt-like flavor inside.
