I wanted to eat stewed shark fin and made a reservation a week ago. The restaurant was easy to find in a clear building. I was seated by the window. There was a group of noisy people nearby... I guess there are people like that even in Kyoto... I wish they had seated us further apart. The food was served at a good pace. Overall, it left a good impression, although there could have been a bit more attention to details like temperature and cleanliness of the plates. Chinese food in Kyoto is quite good!

I chose the best course for the anniversary celebration. The cold appetizer platter consisted of 5 varieties, including crispy jellyfish and tender steamed chicken with ginger miso. The famous Peking duck had a large crispy skin. The simmered sea cucumber was rich and flavorful. The tofu skin and abalone steak with black pepper sauce was well-balanced. The stir-fried dish with conger eel, large shrimp, and green onions was refreshing. The Omi beef and eggplant in oyster sauce was delicious. The steamed rice with crab meat and abalone was fragrant. The dessert trio was delightful, especially the almond tofu. The Moet & Chandon champagne added to the celebratory atmosphere. This Gion-based Chinese restaurant served exquisite dishes that catered well to Japanese tastes.

After a long time, I went to Gion♡ My friend had been to dinner here before, but they don't offer lunch! So I ordered the dim sum set, and I was surprised by the huge amount of food, haha. It was so filling!! Great value for money♡ Even though I'm not a fan of almond jelly, I was able to eat it because it was delicious here♡

I recommend making a reservation before going for lunch as there can be quite a wait without one. This time, I opted for the course menu, but the a la carte options also seemed to have a satisfying portion size and all looked delicious. The course for two was served in a way where you share one plate, which might be perfect for couples looking to impress each other! The flavors were very refined and all dishes were delicious. The staff at the restaurant were polite and provided attentive service.

The appetizers in the course were delicious. The stir-fried pork with vegetables was especially tasty and paired well with red wine (lol). The shark fin soup was, um... I tried Qingdao beer for the first time. It's light and feels like drinking carbonated water. It's good when you want to drink something light. I like the clean and calming atmosphere and the attentive service. When the mini cold noodles came out, it felt like a sudden change of pace (lol) but they were really delicious and paired well with white wine (lol).

Located in Gion, this is a delicious long-established Chinese restaurant that you can visit for everyday dining. I tried their "harenma no ojakoini chahan" (fried rice with dried baby sardines) and it was delicious. You can enjoy it as it is or pour some broth over it for a second round of enjoyment. The lunch set is very affordable and popular.

Located on the 5th floor of a building directly across from Yojiya Gion Honten, near Yasaka Shrine, this restaurant offers a perfect setting for travelers to enjoy a meal while soaking in the atmosphere of Kyoto. We ordered the Higashiyama course with all-you-can-drink option, and every dish was delicious and just the right portion for my husband and me. The service was excellent, living up to the reputation of being a historic and esteemed establishment. If you ever crave Chinese food during your Kyoto trip, this is definitely a place worth visiting again.

You can't see the night view. Reservations are easy to make. It has the image of a restaurant on the upper floor of a department store. It's not the highest class of Chinese cuisine, but it's better than the trendy town Chinese restaurants. Desserts include mango pudding and ice cream. The sesame dumplings we took home were well received.

At the end of the year, it is a tradition for me to spend New Year's in Kyoto, but this time the hotels and restaurants were filling up quickly due to no restrictions in place. So, I decided to visit this Chinese restaurant. The restaurant is easy to find, with a large showcase at the corner. Even though I had made a reservation for 6:00 pm on December 31st, there was a sign in front of the elevator saying "Fully booked today by reservation." The restaurant is spacious, with ample space between tables, allowing for a leisurely dining experience. I was seated by the window this time. The window seats are all four-seaters. By 6:00 pm, about 60% of the seats were filled. Since I had reserved a course, the menu included:
- Assorted appetizers: A classic Chinese dish with jellyfish, chicken, and pork, offering a reliable and comforting taste.
- Stir-fried shrimp with mayonnaise: I personally love shellfish, and this shrimp with mayonnaise was exquisite. The crispy coating and delicious mayonnaise sauce made it a favorite dish that I would definitely order again if I were a local.
- Shark fin soup: Although it wasn't the actual fin, the shark fin in the soup was substantial with a good texture, allowing me to fully enjoy the shark fin.
- Peking duck: The Peking duck was served already sliced, and I was initially concerned about the portion, but it was flavorful and well-balanced between the meat and skin.
- Stir-fried white fish and scallops: I can't recall the exact name, but this dish of stir-fried white fish and scallops was a first for me. The fluffy white fish paired perfectly with the mild flavor of the scallops, cooked just right without being overdone or tough. It was an outstanding dish that I highly recommend trying if you're curious.
- Five-flavor sauce yakisoba: The noodles were soft, and they paired well with the five-flavor sauce.
- Almond jelly: Overall, it was a cost-effective restaurant with attentive service and a pleasant atmosphere. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I went to Gion Shijo: Kyoto Seimei Kyoto Gion store in November, and the course content had changed a bit. The Kiyomizu course for ¥10,000 includes: - Assorted 4 cold dishes - Peking duck - Simmered shark fin - Seasonal vegetables stir-fried in oyster sauce - Eel and tofu simmered dish - Ankake yakisoba - 2 types of dessert for the day You can make reservations on Tabelog or Ichigeki, and it seems like you can get the course a little cheaper. The atmosphere is calm, and depending on the seat, the view from the large window was nice. The seat I sat in had a view of Yasaka Shrine and Gion! They showed the Peking duck before cutting it, but I missed taking a photo. The taste was average, but the sesame dumplings were really delicious!

This is a Chinese restaurant located on the 5th floor of Yasaka Gion Building on Hanami-koji Street in Gion. They have a dress code (no shorts or sandals allowed) so be aware of that. I made a reservation for the Shimizu course for 10,000 yen (tax included). I was seated at a window table for reserved seats. The view from here includes Hanami-koji Street in Gion and Yasaka Shrine. As the sun begins to set, the view is enhanced by the lights of the street. The Chinese cuisine enjoyed while looking at this view is truly exceptional. The menu mainly consists of Cantonese cuisine, all prepared to suit the Japanese palate. There are wines and non-alcoholic drinks available too, so I was able to relax and enjoy my meal. I would like to try other dishes on my next visit.

Before going to Gion Kageki, my junior colleague found a nearby restaurant. It was an old Chinese restaurant where many elderly customers started coming in from the 11:30 reservation time. I was surprised at how quickly the food came out after ordering. The lunch was delicious with a prawn chili dish that was plump and options to choose between mini yakisoba or fried chicken, as well as between rice or congee. It also came with almond jelly for dessert. The taste was elegant and refined, fitting for an old establishment. The lunch menu was extensive, and you could also order individual items. Prices ranged from around 1400 yen to 4000 yen, and we were able to relax and enjoy the view of Hanami Koji from the 5th floor. I would like to visit again at night.

I decided on a whim to visit the Gion Festival Yoiyama in Kyoto the day before. Without any plans, I wandered around the Gion area. Due to not doing any research beforehand, I was turned away from the two restaurants I had checked out (sigh). Feeling hungry, I stumbled upon the "Seimei Gion Branch" restaurant. Chinese food in Kyoto! How nice. The entrance is here, and you take the elevator to the 5th floor as instructed. Although I was alone, I was seated at a table for four by the window. It was around 12:30 on a weekday, and the restaurant was about a third full. There were many elderly women's groups and couples. The view of the Gion streets from the window is amazing! The menu offered a beef set meal (choice of congee, five-ingredient fried noodles for ¥1300). The food arrived quite quickly. The beef set meal is basically stir-fried beef with green peppers. It was quite generous in portion. The taste was very mild and would likely appeal to people of all ages and genders. Both the stir-fried beef with green peppers and the five-ingredient fried noodles were delicious! It seems like there are no misses no matter what you order. With dessert included at this price, it's a good deal no matter the location. Looking at the menu, there is a variety of options ranging from expensive courses to affordable set meals. It seems like a well-established restaurant, with many local customers. I found a good restaurant. Thank you for the meal. *Payment made with au pay.

On Saturday at 12:00, I visited Aomei Gion restaurant with my two children. We almost entered the Tully's on the first floor of the same building because we couldn't find the entrance, but we eventually found it on the east side of the building. We were seated at a table for four. We stopped by after visiting Chion-in. I ordered the Omi beef set for 1,400 yen, my daughter ordered the shrimp chili set for 1,300 yen plus 100 yen, and my son ordered the special set for 1,600 yen. My Omi beef set arrived within about 5 minutes, followed by the other dishes. My special set came with shrimp chili and sweet and sour pork, and the appetizer in a small dish had a flavor that made me want to drink alcohol. It was delicious and different from the flavors we're used to at home, so I enjoyed the Chinese cuisine in Kyoto. We shared and enjoyed each dish. My son added fried rice for an extra charge, and it was nice that we could get refills for growing appetites. We had a lively time enjoying the Chinese food and commenting on how nice the view must be from the window seats. The clientele was mostly older, and I could tell they had probably been coming here since they were younger. It felt like we were peeking into a small part of Kyoto's history. It's clear that this place has been loved by locals for a long time. Now that we know where the entrance is, we'll definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

When I checked the prices for dinner, they seemed quite expensive. However, I heard that you can have lunch for under 2000 yen, so I decided to change my plans and visit for lunch instead. This time, I had the Gion lunch for 1100 yen, with additional appetizers and dessert for 300 yen. The menu included shrimp and egg in chili sauce, mapo tofu, five-flavor soba, rice, and soup. The mapo tofu and shrimp in chili sauce were a classic Chinese dish, and the chili sauce wasn't too spicy with the addition of egg. It was just the right amount for men, but might be a bit much for women. I took the bus back and forth between Kyoto Station and Shijo Kawaramachi twice that day, as I was at Kyoto Station during lunchtime. Kyoto is convenient to navigate by bus, and mastering the bus system makes you feel like a Kyoto expert! Off to Kyoto we go! ( ^-^)ノ∠※.:.:*.:'°☆o(^o^)oo(^o^)o

Gion's Chinese restaurant, Seimeikokaku Chuka, offers authentic Chinese cuisine in a Japanese-friendly and delicious way. The clientele is mostly older and elegant, creating a quiet atmosphere. The service is good, allowing you to leisurely enjoy your meal. The high cost-performance Gion lunch starts from 1,100 yen.

When it comes to Chinese cuisine, it often requires a large group to enjoy a variety of dishes. However, this restaurant serves a little bit of each dish, which is very satisfying. My husband also loves this place, as every dish is carefully prepared and delicious. The service is excellent, making it a place we want to visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Near Gion bus stop, there is "Chinese Cuisine Seimei Gion Store" where you can enjoy the view of Hanami Koji and Higashiyama from inside the restaurant, with a calm lighting and Asian-themed interior. It was lunchtime on a weekday, and although there was no wait, the moderately crowded restaurant is popular as expected of a well-known place. The "Gomoku Jiru Soba Shoyu Flavor" for 1050 yen is a delicious dish that has been loved for half a century, with plenty of ingredients and a flavorful soy sauce-based sauce that coats the noodles well. The balance of the flavorful Gomoku sauce, the light soy sauce soup, and the firmness of the curly noodles is just right, making it so delicious that you'll want to eat it again immediately after finishing. For an additional 300 yen, you can add a mini set of Gomoku Yakisoba, Gomoku Don, or 2 pieces of Karaage. The Karaage is tender and juicy, with a crispy exterior and a chewy interior. Sprinkling a little salt on it enhances the sweetness of the chicken. I also ordered the Chinese traditional plum drink "Sour Plum Soup" for 450 yen, which contains smoked plum and Hawthorn, recommended for plum lovers as a rich and slightly thick drink packed with the umami of plums. The lunch menu includes set meals and noodle dishes, with a wide variety to choose from, including limited-time specials, making it a restaurant you'll want to visit multiple times.

I had a hearty Chinese lunch. It's great that they are open even in the late afternoon. The set menu options are plentiful. The crab claws are delicious as always. And of course, the Tsingtao beer is tasty. Overall, the view of Gion Hanamikoji is also wonderful!

I used to look at the signboard but had never been there, so when I arrived at 2 pm, it was quite busy. They have a wide variety of lunch menu options. I ordered shrimp chili and spring rolls among other dishes. It was delicious. The affordable takeout option is also quite good. I also got some takeout. It's a hidden gem on the 5th floor, and you can see Gion from there.

Today, I took a day off and went to the Kyoto National Museum to see the special exhibition "Treasures of the Imperial Family" in commemoration of the enthronement. I bought tickets online with designated entry times to avoid crowds, so I had plenty of time for lunch. I tried to visit a few shops that I had in mind, but unfortunately, two of them were closed on Wednesdays. So, I ended up going to Aomei at 11:30, where there were only two other groups of customers, so it was quite relaxed. I ordered the sour and spicy noodles and a mini-sized Chinese rice bowl set for 1,350 yen, which I hadn't had in a while. They provided paper towels and aprons, and the restroom was located outside the shop with separate rooms for men and women (shower-style). The food arrived in less than 5 minutes after ordering. The sour and spicy noodles started off mild but gradually made me sweat, and the mini Chinese rice bowl was slightly sweet, which I personally enjoyed. It was a satisfying lunch with generous portions. Thank you for the delicious meal!
