マチャコ
This is my 13th visit to this restaurant. It's quite a distance from Kanto, so I can't come here often, but whenever I crave delicious Monjayaki, I head to Ichijoji in Kyoto. The dishes here are made with great attention to detail and love, and there is no disappointment in any of them. The combination of flavors and ingredients is exquisite, and I am always amazed by how the flavors come together. The presentation, texture, and aroma are all well thought out. Even the standard Monjayaki combinations are all delicious. This time, we had the following Monjayaki dishes: - Aonara Monja (limited time only) - Crab, green onion, and seaweed (Kansai-style dashi soy sauce) - Seafood Max (basil flavor) with baguette - Beet cheese (curry flavor) We also had side dishes like fried burdock (we ordered seconds) and stir-fried Kyoto leek and chicken salt. The one-dish meals are surprisingly delicious as well. Eating Monjayaki with baguette is an unexpected combination, but it is incredibly tasty. Despite being a teppanyaki restaurant, the interior is clean and the owner, staff, and atmosphere are all very welcoming. They have implemented thorough measures against COVID-19, so you can dine here with peace of mind. Since it is a very popular restaurant, I recommend making a reservation before visiting. Shortly after opening, the restaurant was fully booked, and many customers who showed up without a reservation had to leave. If you happen to arrive when someone is leaving, you may get lucky, but I saw that spot getting filled up quickly too. So, if you really want to try their food, making a reservation is highly recommended. Thank you for always providing delicious meals and a great time. Every time I eat Monjayaki here, I truly believe that "cooking is magic." Or maybe it's "magical cooking"? Haha. Once again, my stomach and heart are full and satisfied! I am so happy! On a side note, there is a cute picture of a treasure ship drawn by manga artist Miki Yuasa on the inside of the entrance. I couldn't help but take a picture of it. This is my second visit on August 4, 2020. My first visit was on July 28, 2018.
