A stylish standing bar with a Kyoto atmosphere that is easy for women to enter alone! "Kyoto Tachinami Kiyokiyo" opened in July 2018 in Kyoto, Kawaramachi. The dishes use Kyoto ingredients and the interior exudes the traditional Kyoto charm, making it a perfect spot for Kyoto sightseeing. The restaurant is located about a 3-minute walk from Kawaramachi Station, on the 1st floor of the "FORUM Kiyamachi Pontocho Building". The modern and stylish interior features a unified gray color scheme with wooden tables and counters, creating a cozy atmosphere. The counter seats surround the kitchen in a circular layout, and there are also small table seats available. The wall features a geisha mural, adding to the Kyoto ambiance. The menu includes a variety of dishes such as the popular "Beef Tongue Stew", fresh fish, obanzai (Kyoto-style home-cooked dishes), and fried foods. There is also a daily obanzai selection using seasonal ingredients. Drinks include local Kyoto sake for tasting comparisons. The must-try dish is the "Beef TANNI", a unique dish of beef tongue cooked with Uji tea leaves and bonito dashi. The complimentary "gari" served at this restaurant is refillable, which is a nice touch. The reviewer enjoyed the tangy flavor of the gari and had two refills. They also tried the Squid Salted Potato Salad and highly recommended the Beef TANNI, praising its tender meat and flavorful broth with plenty of vegetables. The cozy and stylish interior, along with the abundance of Kyoto ingredients and obanzai dishes, make this standing bar a great place to enjoy Kyoto cuisine and atmosphere easily. The option for private reservations (for 10 people or more) makes it ideal for large groups or second parties. Overall, it is a convenient and enjoyable Kyoto standing bar.

I stopped by early in the evening. The interior of the restaurant has a cozy atmosphere with a round counter in the middle. I ordered the "senbero" set (1100 yen) which includes a drink and appetizers. It came with a draft beer and sashimi, and today's special was seared swordfish. The searing was just right, with no fishy smell, and it was delicious. However, the service was a bit slow and I ran out of beer, so I had to move on to the next place.

A hidden gem of a standing bar. It was tucked away in the back of a building on the first floor. Despite being a standing bar, there are chairs available for seating. They open around lunchtime and offer lunch as well. Personally, I found the eggplant and cheese bolognese spring rolls to be delicious. The french fries were also tasty, made from fresh potatoes.

I found a nice standing bar for my second stop! I ordered a Dewar's Mega Highball (880 yen) and shrimp crackers (440 yen). I had a fun time in a bright atmosphere. It was just the right kind of place for a casual drink around here!

While walking around Kamogawa and Pontocho, I felt thirsty and decided to enter this standing bar with a sign that caught my eye. The interior was already full with reservations, so we sat at the counter and enjoyed some small dishes and croquettes along with a draft beer. The draft beer was delicious and it was clear that they clean their glasses properly. More and more reserved customers kept coming in, showing that it's a popular spot. The tables, other than the counter, only had one chair per table, so customers trying to sneak chairs from neighboring tables were promptly scolded by the staff.

To Stand Kiyokiyo in Kyoto Kiyamachi. It's a bit tricky to find as it's tucked away in a side street in Kiyamachi, but once you step into the beautifully decorated interior and vibrant atmosphere with mostly young staff, your spirits will be lifted. The must-try dish is their famous Beef Tongue Stew (1100 yen). It's a hearty dish with beef tongue, vegetables, and sausage simmered in a flavorful broth. The price is quite reasonable for the generous portion, making it a place where people might linger for a long time. They are open for lunch, so you can enjoy this delicious dish starting from noon. Aside from that, they also offer items like salted potato salad, which are both voluminous and aesthetically pleasing for social media. The overall food quality is high, giving off a modern vibe. While the cost performance may not be the best, the dishes are of good quality. The pricing of drinks, although slightly higher for a standing bar, is reflected in the well-poured beers and overall quality. The place seems to be lively with regular customers and doesn't give off any uncomfortable or unwelcoming vibes. It's a great spot for a casual drink during the day in Kiyamachi. It's more suited for a light drink rather than a heavy meal in my personal opinion. Just for your reference~♪

I happened to find this place while wandering around. It's a bit dark in the alley, so it may be hard to enter, but the interior of the shop is clean. I think it's mainly standing drinking, but there are also people sitting on long benches, so you may be able to sit if you ask. Overall, the food was delicious. In particular, the Thai dish had just the right amount of oil and was delicious. However, it's disappointing that they seem to change their attitude depending on the person. Thank you for the meal.

This standing bar is perfect for foreigners who would enjoy a "Japanese" start. Order: - Chicken breast and spinach with mentaiko mayo - Oboro tofu cold tofu - Lemon sour - Highball Open from 2 pm! They also have a "Chibero set," so it's recommended for daytime drinking as well.

I had the famous beef tongue stew! It was tender and easy to eat, with no strong flavors. The green sauce on top really complemented the meat. The vegetables were sweet and very comforting.

With my wife, we enjoyed a leisurely second day of sightseeing in Kyoto. We decided to explore a completely different restaurant from the kaiseki meal we had yesterday. We searched for a place loved by locals. And we hit the jackpot! There were only Kyoto locals there. Maybe it was just a coincidence, but there was a rush of Kansai dialect. Just as rumored, the food was delicious. I like elegant places too, but I feel more at ease in places like this. I guess at heart, I'm just a common pub guy. It's a great restaurant! We will definitely visit again on our next trip to Kyoto.

I visited the fourth restaurant on my gourmet trip in Kyoto. I had about 30 minutes before dinner along the Kamo River, so I decided to have a quick drink. This place was great because it was open early. It's mainly a standing bar, but there are also seats available, and I was lucky to find one open. I ordered a Mango Chu-hi for 620 yen, a Pineapple Chu-hi for 620 yen, and Stir-fried Seseri (chicken neck) and Kujo Negi (green onion) with Yuzu pepper for 680 yen. They served pickled ginger as a complimentary appetizer. The refreshing fruit Chu-hi drinks went well with the pickled ginger. The drinks were a bit pricey, but there were no service charges or appetizer fees, which was nice. The Stir-fried Seseri and Kujo Negi with Yuzu pepper had a rich flavor and was delicious. The flavorful fat on the Seseri combined with the spicy Yuzu pepper was a great touch. I only ordered a few items, but the side dishes, other menu items, and sake all looked delicious. Since there were many solo customers, I thought it was a convenient place for a quick drink.

Popular standing bar in Kiyamachi where you can enjoy daytime drinking in a stylish white-themed interior. Must-try dishes include the specialty beef tongue "TANNI" cooked in a bonito broth-based pot-au-feu-like soup with tender beef tongue and various vegetables. The homemade tsukune, with its meaty texture and chewiness, pairs perfectly with the moon-viewing sake. The fresh fruit chu-hai is also a specialty of this place, offering a dessert-like alcoholic drink experience. Other recommended items include a tasting set of 3 types of Kyoto local sake, grilled Man'nenji peppers, and a dish of moroheiya and nameko mushrooms. I visited on a Saturday at 3 pm after finishing a business meeting. The menu features a variety of dishes that make use of Kyoto's local ingredients, allowing you to experience a bit of Kyoto's charm.

When I visited Kyoto, I stumbled upon this place while bar-hopping. The interior of the shop was cute and seemed perfect for both groups of women and couples on a date. The staff were friendly and made the atmosphere very comfortable. I tried a fruit sour, which was sweet, refreshing, and delicious!

I was looking for a cheap, dingy standing bar, but the search led me to this place. This place is a clean standing and sitting bar. It might not have been what we were looking for in terms of price (lol). The fact that it's right next to "Watanabe Yokocho" makes it even more disappointing, as they served us one drink at a time.

During my visit to Kyoto, I planned to visit the top-ranked traditional Japanese sweets shop, but I didn't realize that a reservation was required and couldn't purchase any sweets. I had to move on to my next destination soon, so I met up with a friend and decided to have a drink here to pass the time. I ordered a pineapple sour, a draft beer, and a tasting set of three types of sake. The pineapple sour was refreshing and easy to drink, so I quickly finished it. I thought I was feeling better, but actually, I suddenly felt extremely sleepy and fatigued afterwards. Thank you for the meal!

During the midst of efforts to prevent the spread, I managed to get the owner's approval just before the 20:30 last order deadline and was able to enjoy a Sapporo draft beer. I asked if it was possible to order some food as well, and the staff kindly prepared some oden since it just needed to be heated up. I felt really sorry for the trouble, but they were very accommodating. There was about 30 minutes until closing, but I had a pleasant time chatting with regular customers and other new customers in a friendly atmosphere. It's really a shame when the restaurant is not open. I had originally planned to come earlier to try a sake tasting, but I'll save that and trying other dishes for next time. The oden and beer were delicious, but what stood out the most was the kindness of the staff. I'll make sure to come earlier next time. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

It is a standing bar in the area near Pontocho in Kyoto. I ordered a lemon sour, which had a high alcohol content. It tasted delicious with the natural flavor of the lemon fruit. I also ordered a rare taro fried dish, which was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, very tasty. Other dishes included squid salt potato salad, changja, and pickled firefly squid. Overall, everything was delicious and it's a casual place to enjoy drinks, although not ideal for lingering.

On January 14, 2022 (Friday) around 3:00 PM, after visiting Kyoto for sightseeing, I visited Kyoto Stand Kiyokiyosan in Kawaramachi. This place is a standing bar, but they also have chairs available for seating. We ordered the "Kyoto local sake tasting set (3 kinds) for 1078 yen" for two people, and they served us 6 different types of sake to enjoy various flavors. Among them, Aramusha was a strong dry sake, Aosora and Kamikura had a well-balanced taste, and Inemankai had a unique red color using ancient rice. We started with "Kyoto Minaminasu and Aburaage Ohitashi for 418 yen", which was fresh and flavorful with a subtle dashi taste. Next, we ordered a platter of three types of Tai-dashi oden. The broth had a distinct Tai fish flavor, and the oden included thick fried tofu, white konjac, and daikon radish. The sake went well with the food. We then tried the simmered beef tongue, a specialty cooked with tea leaves. It had a pot-au-feu-like Western flavor, and the beef tongue was tender and flavorful, accompanied by carrots and sausages. Adding shochu, we also ordered the "Seseri fried with grated daikon and ponzu sauce", which had a perfect balance of ponzu sauce and juicy fried chicken. Overall, we were very satisfied with the high-quality izakaya where we could enjoy Kyoto's sake and ingredients. Thank you for the delicious meal.

At the standing bar Kiyokiyoki in Kiyamachi, they open from daytime so it's great for day drinking or pre-drinks. I used it for pre-drinks this day. The dishes we had (for 2 people) were: yellowtail sashimi, specialty beef tongue stew, squid salted guts, potato salad, and grilled yam with black pepper. The drinks we had were: lemon chu-hi, sake (Kamikura), sake (Aosora), sake (Ginshari). The dishes were quite delicious and they had a variety of sake. The specialty beef tongue stew was also delicious. It's a convenient standing bar in Kiyamachi.

I went to Kyoto. My first impression was that the building was dark and it felt a bit difficult to enter. The interior was spacious and well-lit. Orders are placed using a QR code. I started with a draft beer. The appetizer set for 980 yen included hijiki seaweed, shredded konjac, and potato salad. The hijiki was sweet, the shredded konjac was crispy, and the potato salad had salted squid on top. I'm not sure if these are typical Kyoto dishes, but the price of 980 yen was a bit high. I think it would be better if the portion size was reduced by half and the price was cut in half. The homemade oboro tofu for 380 yen was seasoned with salt and soy sauce. Overall, it was a bit pricey for what you get.

When I booked a trap tour, I also happened to book (naturally) with GOTO EAT. This place was featured on a local TV show about a Kyoto training camp (drinking) that I happened to see, BM, a sister store of Kyoto Ieyasu. It is a casual place that you can use even for a short time or by yourself. When I mentioned my reservation, I was guided to a counter seat. Although it is mainly standing, I was allowed to use the chairs at the end of the store. The appetizer was "pickled ginger". First, I had a beer. The food was a combination of the specialty dishes of the restaurant. The contents were dried daikon radish, boiled green vegetables, and simmered hijiki, just like home-cooked dishes. However, when made by experts, they are delicious. The sake lineup is excellent, focusing on local sake, but the prices starting from 800 yen for standing drinking might be a bit high. I had "Kamikura" (850 yen), which was poured into a flute glass. It is an unpasteurized, raw sake, pure rice, unfiltered, raw sake that sticks to the original sake. It has a sharp taste, so it might go well with rich Japanese food. The "obanzai" (seasonal side dishes) made with plenty of seasonal ingredients changes its content daily, so you can enjoy it even if you come back again.
