There was a shop in Teramachi that recreated the white sauce from Spaghetti Collection. I was disappointed when the Teramachi shop closed, but I found out on SNS that there was a place with the same sauce and decided to try it. The white sauce was delicious, although it felt a bit too rich. I couldn't tell if the cheesecake was homemade, but it had too much acidity.

I entered the restaurant around 5 p.m. on a regular day. I ordered the Asari Basil Spaghetti in size LL. It tasted like a regular Vongole with extra soup. It was good, but not particularly delicious. I thought it would be nice if the LL size upgrade was free. The omurice I had before might have been tastier. Thank you for the meal.

Taste 3.3, Cost Performance 3.4, Atmosphere 3.8. You can study well here. The omurice and butter rice come in large portions for free. Coffee is 200 yen for a set. The large portion of chicken skin butter rice with choice is 820 yen. You can add 100 yen for this. I got it. This is... delicious! Thank you! I want to eat a lot more! Delicious! Happy smile! It was delicious. However, it was a bit oily, lacked ingredients, and the flavor was a bit monotonous, so I got a little tired towards the end. I thought the set might be better.

I ordered the Chicken Skin Butter Rice in size L. Since it was a cafe in a student area, I was prepared for a terrifyingly large portion, but it turned out to be normal. Disappointing. The butter rice sprinkled with parsley and crispy salted chicken skin was a nice accent. However, since the only filling was chicken skin, it became somewhat monotonous. I'm glad I ordered the mini salad. The corn dressing was fruity and delicious. If this dish had no chicken skin, would I just be eating parsley rice endlessly? Terrifying...

The interior is surprisingly spacious, with a calm atmosphere and Michael Franks playing in the background. The place is quiet and relaxing as it is outside of lunch hours. I ordered the Omu-rice L for 860 yen. The ketchup rice is well balanced with mushrooms, onions, beef, and green peas. The egg is not the fluffy type placed on top, but properly wrapped around the ketchup rice throughout, which I love. Even if it's a bit torn, it's okay. I was moved after taking the first bite. It was delicious. This is what Omu-rice should be. I couldn't stop eating until the last bite, and I didn't get tired of it. A satisfying dish.

I had the Iwashi Combo Beef Rice. The portion was about 1 cup of rice, so it was quite filling. But it was delicious! The oil content was high, but I personally enjoyed it. I think it would really appeal to students. Plus, it's a great deal at 780 yen. I added a hot coffee for an extra 200 yen, and it was just the way I like it - smooth and creamy. The portion was generous. The milk was so thick it was like cream. The best part was the BGM playing in the cafe - it was really soothing. I believe a cafe's choice of BGM reflects the owner's taste. Today, they played reggae and oldies. It was incredibly relaxing. It wasn't too crowded since it was a Sunday, mostly solo diners. To put it simply, it was fantastic. I will definitely be coming back! Thank you for the meal.

I moved to Kyoto about a month ago and was looking for a cafe where I could study as a working adult. I came across this place, which is popular among Kyoto University students. The atmosphere is great, with a nostalgic and academic mood. The staff member taking orders was efficient and pleasant to watch. I ordered the corned beef rice and Vienna coffee. The rice portion was huge and had a simple, budget-friendly flavor. The coffee was on the bitter side. The curry and banana juice that others ordered looked delicious. I'm curious about the pound cake, so I'll definitely be back to try it!

From my student days, I have visited this café collection many times. If you're a fan of Tomihiko Morimi, you must visit this place on a pilgrimage at least once. But even if that's not the case, it's a great oasis for university students with the best cost performance where you can relax. The café used to have a cave-like, dim interior with an adult atmosphere that I enjoyed, but at some point it was renovated and now has a spacious, bright interior. However, the atmosphere remains the same as before, which made me happy. The chicken skin butter rice, Vienna coffee, and cakes all have the same unchanged taste, and coming back here always brings back nostalgic feelings.

I went out for dinner. The interior of the restaurant had old books and picture books, a slightly mysterious atmosphere with interesting paintings hanging on the walls, retro globes and lamps scattered around. The cafe seemed to have been around for a long time, with a menu offering rice dishes, pasta, sandwiches, salads, pizza, pound cake, and cheesecake. I ordered the White Sauce Tarako Pasta (900 yen), which surprised me when it arrived as the pasta and white sauce were not mixed but served separately on the plate like curry, with the tarako sauce in the center. The white sauce was creamy and slightly thick, not too heavy, and delicious. The pasta had a nice texture and was cooked perfectly. The flavor may have been a bit monotonous, but I enjoyed it. The drink menu was extensive, with a variety of yogurt drinks available. They also offered a 50 yen discount for takeout orders. I would like to try their sandwiches, pizza, and especially the canned sardine corned beef fries next time.

This is a long-established cafe popular among students of Kyoto University located on Imadegawa Street. The novelist and Kyoto University graduate Tomihiko Morimi also seems to be a fan, as the cafe has been mentioned in his works. The interior has a retro atmosphere, and the clientele consists mainly of university students enjoying reading, studying, and conversations, showcasing the important role this cafe plays in the student district. I visited around 12 PM on a weekday and was able to enter without waiting in line.
The signature dish, Otori Chicken Skin Butter Rice (¥680), is a must-try. The rice has a perfect texture of moistness and fluffiness, combined with flavors of basil, butter, and chicken creating a complex and delicious taste. The chicken skin is crispy with a distinctive burnt and fragrant flavor, complementing the butter rice perfectly. It was delicious!
I am curious about other signature dishes like omurice and mentaiko spaghetti, as well as the cost-effective desserts. I definitely want to revisit this place. Thank you for the meal!

Omelette rice for 720 yen. You can choose the size for free, so I went with the small size since I was planning to go to a cafe afterwards. Even though the egg was thin, it was not too runny but creamy, which was amazing. This omelette rice never disappoints. No matter what I order, it never fails, I love it.

It was probably around 3:00 p.m. on a regular day. There weren't many customers. They offered me a seat of my choice. The atmosphere was amazing. Quiet and calming, yet not too formal. The casual setting created a relaxed vibe. It was great for studying. I ordered a Vienna coffee for 380 yen. It was delicious. The presentation was also nice. The cream hadn't completely melted, which was a nice touch. The combination of bitter coffee and sweet whipped cream was fantastic.

Due to the second period cancellation, I happened to pass by the trendy cafe as usual during lunchtime. It wasn't too crowded after 11 o'clock! The prices were cheap, the atmosphere was stylish, and the food was delicious, so I decided to become a regular customer. My friend ordered the omelette rice that always looked delicious, and it turned out to be huge in portion. I opted for the egg sandwich, which was incredibly creamy. It was the best.

A relaxing spot right in front of Kyoto University campus. The owner has renovated the space while keeping a retro feel. Their specialty is the omurice, with a classic ketchup rice covered in a creamy egg. The generous portion size is free for students on weekdays, so go for the large size if you're hungry. The atmosphere is unique, with Kyoto University students and international students adding an interesting vibe. The taste, atmosphere, and location are all great, making it a satisfying experience. They also offer a variety of desserts, so why not try their cafe menu as well?

There is a cafe near Yoshidayama that serves my favorite curry. It is really delicious. It has a sweetness from the fruits, a melt-in-your-mouth texture from the stewed meat, and a hint of spiciness. The store in Teramachi has closed, but the one near Kyoto University is still going strong.

Yogurt drink float ¥550 (Strawberry) There was no strawberry flavor. I think it would have been better with plain flavor at a lower price. The shop was clean and quiet, and the atmosphere was nice.

I really liked the crispy texture of the chicken skin and how well it went with the butter rice.

I went to eat the long-awaited chicken skin butter rice. Since it's a shop in a student town, the cost performance is excellent. By the way, the cookies they were selling at the time of payment were only 30 yen, which was shocking.

As a favorite among college students, this place offers great value for money. I had a Vienna coffee and chocolate cake. The cake seemed to have orange peel inside. I didn't have it today, but the butter rice with chicken skin is also delicious.

Until 2003, I was in Kyoto and attended university and graduate school there. This restaurant probably has delicious butter. At the time I frequented, they rotated through three main dishes: 1. Curry rice (with a addictive sweetness that I've never tasted in similar curries elsewhere), 2. Clam and basil spaghetti, 3. Mentaiko spaghetti (shining with lemon and seaweed). I never thought the famous omurice or sardine corned beef fried rice were delicious. I first heard Carol King's "It's Too Late" playing at this restaurant and I still love it. A place full of memories that I want to visit again before I die. I would like to go back with my children when I visit home.
