I made a reservation for a lunch buffet two days in advance and went with a friend. Yesterday, I couldn't get a reservation because it was full, so I had to wait until today. The cost was 4840 yen for adults and 2420 yen for children (4 years old to elementary school age). The buffet included dim sum, fried rice or noodles, and congee with dried scallops, as well as over 30 main dishes and desserts. We were asked about our drink preferences at the beginning, and we chose the complimentary jasmine tea. We ordered about 6 items to start, and the dim sum and other dishes arrived quickly. We ordered more dishes before finishing the first round, and the shrimp chili, shrimp mayo, and stir-fried squid were delicious. The congee with dried scallops was particularly tasty with a rich flavor. The shrimp ball croutons and steamed white fish with scallion soy sauce were also very good. By the time we reached dessert, we were quite full, but we still managed to enjoy the almond jelly and mango pudding. It's understandable why reservations are hard to come by for this delicious Chinese cuisine buffet at the hotel.

I went to a lunch buffet. Although Corona has been categorized as level 5, I am still cautious, so I chose this restaurant where you can order and eat. I had requested in advance to bring a baby stroller, and they prepared a spacious seat for us, which was very considerate. For the menu, the main dish and dessert are all-you-can-eat. Once you order, the main dishes are brought to your table according to the number of people. Desserts can be ordered individually. For fried rice, fried noodles, and porridge, you can choose one dish per person. You can order them at your own pace. All the dishes are delicious, but the highlights were the sweet and sour pork and steamed white fish fillet. The white fish this time was rockfish. However, the sweet and sour pork was too salty and not delicious the second time. Some reviews on other sites said the egg tart was mediocre, and it really was. The only dessert that wasn't good... was the mango pudding, which was very rich! I was so full from the main dishes that I could only eat it once, which was a shame because it was so delicious. The price has gone up over the years, now exceeding 4,000 yen, but I am very satisfied. The parking lot offers 2 hours of free parking. The buffet is 90 minutes, so there are no issues. The 90-minute buffet time flies by unexpectedly fast. At first, I couldn't figure out the timing for ordering, and there was no food on the table for a while, so it's best to order a few dishes in advance! Personally, I found it best to order 5 dishes at first, and then add 3 to 5 dishes after receiving about 3 dishes. It's a restaurant I would like to visit again.

This day, we stayed at the Karasuma Kyoto Hotel as part of a plan to rediscover the charms of Kyoto. We managed to slip in just before the deadline for the dinner included in the plan. The restaurant had left a good impression on me from a previous visit, so my expectations were high. I'm not sure of the price since it was included in the accommodation plan, but I think it would be around 4,000 to 5,000 yen for the course. We had a draft beer for 957 yen (tax included) and my wife had oolong tea for 666 yen (tax included). The course included: Appetizer - Steamed shrimp, steamed chicken, cucumber, mini tomatoes, jellyfish (the jellyfish had a nice crunchy texture and was delicious) Soup - Ham and winter melon clear soup (the salty flavor of the ham and the gentle winter melon soup were delicious) Dim sum - Shumai, shrimp dumplings, xiaolongbao (classic flavors, xiaolongbao had very little soup) Main dish 1 - Oil-drenched chicken (spicy, sour, and sweet flavors were very good. The scent of cilantro was a nice touch) Main dish 2 - Stir-fried squid and colorful vegetables in oyster sauce (classic Chinese flavors, crunchy green asparagus, and tender squid) Main dish 3 - Shrimp and egg in chili sauce (classic Chinese chili sauce flavor with the mellow egg and plump shrimp) Five-treasure fried rice (fried rice with shrimp, char siu, green onions, and lettuce, accompanied by tasty pickled vegetables) Dessert - Almond jelly with watermelon (a refreshing and delicious ending to the meal. Of course, we had jasmine tea. Overall, we were very full and satisfied. While there were not many surprises, it was a restaurant with delicious and classic Chinese flavors. I would like to visit again in the future. Rating: 3.5

I drank a lot of Shaoxing wine at a Chinese restaurant inside the Karasuma Hotel. It was used for a banquet with an all-you-can-drink course that included Shaoxing wine, which was lucky. The Chinese cuisine was nostalgic. I wished there were a few more dishes for dinner, but we had a fun time drinking in the spacious restaurant.

We used a discount flyer for 3993 yen including tax with a drink for 4 people. We have been there a few times before, but this time we ordered almost all the menu items. The portions were just right, not too big, so it was easy to eat. It was almost full on Sunday. All the dishes were deliciously prepared. The desserts were bite-sized and easy to eat. It's perfect for those who want to eat until they're full.

Lunch buffet order: Adults 3,993 yen including tax, Children 1,996 yen including tax (ages 4 to elementary school). You can try all the dishes even if you order just one main dish, as the portions are small. It's better to order about three items at a time so that the dishes arrive at a good pace for eating. You can have as many desserts as you want, as many times as you want within the time limit. I had seconds of sesame dumplings, ice cream, and sherbet. Parking available at Karasuma Hotel parking lot - 2 hours free with a Chinese meal.

This is a Chinese restaurant on the 2nd floor of Karasuma Kyoto Hotel. The floor is spacious, allowing for a leisurely dining experience. I ordered the Tairyo lunch set, which included today's salad, spring rolls, daikon mochi, steamed rice, pickles, and dessert. For the main dish, you can choose 2 out of 5 options: finely chopped beef and bell peppers stir-fry, sweet and sour pork, mapo tofu, small shrimp in chili sauce, or steamed white fish with scallion flavor. You can add coffee for an additional ¥217. They offer private rooms for a fee, making it a great choice for client dinners. Thank you for the meal!

Dinner at the Chinese restaurant "Tao Li" in a hotel in Kyoto, invited by a regular customer. Why is hotel Chinese food so delicious? The course was 6,000 yen with all-you-can-drink, and I am full and satisfied. The soup had a delicate flavor that soaked through, and the appetizers (forgot to take a photo) with cold shrimp and char siu were also delicate. The fish and squid were delicious, especially the squid was firm and tasty! It was so delicious that I wanted to shout. Since there was a member who didn't like chicken, they were able to change it to plenty of simmered pork belly by contacting in advance. The simmered pork belly and greens were gentle and delicious! The fried rice at the end was generous, and the pickled greens and zasai were just the right amount, not too little or too much. Just when I thought it was over, it finished with jasmine tea and almond jelly. Overall, it was light and easy to eat, truly hotel Chinese cuisine. I imagine it's because of the gentle ingredients and fresh oil that it doesn't cause stomach upset. I've been feeling a bit sluggish due to the summer heat, but I enjoyed all the dishes here. Due to the precautions for COVID-19, all the large dishes were either served already portioned or they asked politely to serve, and they even gave alcohol disinfectant pens as a gift to all participants of the course reservation.

Lunch with my favorite people. The menu is so extensive that it's hard to decide what to eat. Every dish is delicious without any disappointments. Personally, I love the prawn mayo because the prawns are so plump. The staff were very kind. They even reheated the Shaoxing wine when it got cold.

I had lunch at a Chinese restaurant located on the 2nd floor of the Karasuma Kyoto Hotel in Shijo-Karasuma. The lunch was a buffet style with one drink included for 3500 yen, and I was quite satisfied with it. The meal started with crab, soup, and dim sum. The crab was nothing special, but you could ask for seconds. I had a beer as my first drink and enjoyed the various dishes. The shrimp chili sauce and shrimp mayo were standard items. The Szechuan-style beef stir-fry was not too spicy. The eight treasure vegetables and black vinegar sweet and sour pork were also good. The dumplings were disappointing as they were small in size. The stir-fried intestines and eggs had a nice flavor with the saltiness of the intestines. The white fish with sauce had a slight fishy smell but the sauce was good. I finished the meal with fried noodles and fried rice. The staff was attentive and the price, including tax and service charge, felt reasonable.

I went to the Chinese restaurant "Tao Li" at the Karasuma Kyoto Hotel. The service was not very good, as they did not offer to take my coat even though I was wearing one. The food I ordered included appetizers, shrimp mayo, spring rolls, and shark fin soup, which seemed to have flavors that children would enjoy. It may not be satisfying for those who prefer authentic Chinese cuisine, but I personally liked the large shrimp and simple ingredients in the spring rolls.

Every time I stay at Karasuma Kyoto Hotel, I come to eat Chinese food. This is my third review, but I have been here more than that. What makes me happiest is that when staying at the hotel on a business trip, I can have dinner for around 3000 yen! I'm not a gourmet, so I don't remember the names of the dishes accurately, but there were three appetizers, including shrimp with the shell cut for easy eating. The jellyfish was delicious, and the combination of Chinese ham, oranges, and winter melon soup was gentle and comforting. The stir-fried eel with mushrooms was soft and crunchy, and the vinegar-soaked chicken with eggplant was delicious. The texture of the shiitake mushrooms was wonderful, and the garlicky fried rice was juicy and flavorful. They even doubled the portion of fried rice for me, and it was packed with ingredients. This Chinese restaurant "Mokuri" at Karasuma Kyoto Hotel is a sister restaurant of Kyoto Okura Hotel, and they have adjusted their prices to match nearby restaurants. That's why you can enjoy the Chinese cuisine at Kyoto Okura Hotel at a 30% discount here at Karasuma Kyoto Hotel. I highly recommend it!

There is a long counter seat by the window where you can comfortably dine alone. This Chinese restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of Karasuma Kyoto Hotel, which is part of the same Kyoto Hotel Group as Kyoto Okura Hotel. The taste is guaranteed to be excellent! The difference between this restaurant and Peach Li at Kyoto Okura Hotel is the ingredients used. They don't use special or high-end ingredients, which makes the overall menu prices cheaper. The lunch set A costs 1350 yen and includes three dishes (shrimp chili, green pepper beef, sweet and sour pork), seafood salad, soup, rice, dessert, and a soft drink. The Dan Dan noodle set that a nearby diner was eating looked very delicious. (I might try that next time!) If you have a JAL Okura Hotel Group card, you can get a 10% discount and earn points, which is a nice bonus. The restaurant may be a bit hidden as you have to go through the hotel to get there, but you can enjoy casual and affordable Chinese cuisine for both lunch and dinner. The taste is guaranteed to be excellent!

The whole family ordered a Chinese course meal (normally 7000 yen, but a special deal at 6000 yen) that seemed like a first-time experience! We usually go to Gyoza no Ohsho for Chinese food, but this time we wanted to try more authentic dishes like shark fin and Peking duck, so we decided to splurge. The course started with a beautifully arranged cold appetizer plate featuring jellyfish, and the waiter explained each dish, which was amusing to watch the kids' reactions. The shark fin soup was served piping hot and delicious. The scallops stir-fried with XO sauce were amazing! The Peking duck was wrapped in scallions and miso, and the waiter showed us how to eat it, which was fun. The deep-fried prawns with rich sauce were juicy and flavorful. The Kyoto pork with black vinegar sauce was my personal favorite, with a perfect balance of sourness and sweetness. The lotus leaf-wrapped rice was fragrant and piping hot. For dessert, we had almond tofu with basil seeds, which was subtly sweet and enjoyable. When asked about their favorite dish, each family member had a different answer, showing that tastes can vary based on age and gender. It was an interesting experience to enjoy a meal together as a family, and we left the restaurant feeling satisfied and grateful. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I used to have memories of eating various dishes at an all-you-can-eat buffet, but this time I opted for a course meal. The course cost around 5000 yen, but each dish from the appetizer to dessert was carefully prepared, leaving a good impression. The sweet and sour pork with black vinegar was particularly delicious. The fried rice had a mild flavor but was still tasty. This place is great when you want to enjoy a slightly more elegant Chinese meal. There is also a branch of the same restaurant at the Kyoto Hotel Okura, but the one at Karasuma Hotel seems to be slightly more affordable. The atmosphere in both restaurants is similar, so this one might be a better deal. The restaurant was quite crowded, perhaps because Enbune is currently closed.
