After a long time working on a public holiday, I didn't eat much for breakfast and lunch, so for dinner, I decided to go to Parante, a restaurant known for its generous portions. I was surprised to see that they no longer had Doria on the menu, as I always associated Parante with their Doria. Nevertheless, I usually order something other than Doria due to its overwhelming size, so this time I ordered the hamburger and the large shrimp cream croquette (1750 yen). - Hamburger: The hamburger was made with 100% beef and I chose the demi-glace sauce. It was a decently sized hamburger, cooked well-done without much juiciness. It was tasty and satisfying. - Large Shrimp Cream Croquette: This croquette was filled with plenty of shrimp and had a firm cream filling with a mild flavor. It was a good size and enjoyable to eat without feeling too heavy. - Side vegetables: The dish came with boiled pumpkin, fried potatoes, baked lotus root, and pickles. - Salad: In addition to the side vegetables, there was a salad with cabbage, tomato, cucumber, and spaghetti. - Rice - Miso soup with seaweed and green onions Although the prices had gone up, the meal was still worth it considering the generous portions and variety. If you're looking for a hearty Western meal in Kyoto, I highly recommend Parante. Just be prepared for a wait of around 20 minutes from ordering to serving, so it's best to visit when you have some extra time.

Arrived before opening due to public transportation. There were already customers waiting! When it was time, the owner came to put up the open sign. The interior of the shop had a nostalgic atmosphere. I ordered the recommended lunch set, which included a huge shrimp fry. I also had the choice of miso soup or mini Sanuki udon, so I chose the mini Sanuki udon. After a while, the ordered dishes arrived! It felt like it had been a while since I had eaten rice served on a plate. The hamburger, which I thought was a bit small for me, had a rich and flavorful demi-glace sauce. The shrimp fry I had been waiting for was indeed large and very satisfying. Families and solo customers kept coming in one after another.

I arrived just before noon on a weekday, but the restaurant was already full and there were people waiting outside. I realized that it must be tough in the summer when you can only wait outside. This time, I chose the shrimp cream croquette from the lunch menu at Parante. I was surprised it was shrimp instead of crab, but the crispy outer layer and rich cream inside were so delicious that I couldn't help but let out a sound of approval (lol). The portions were generous as mentioned in reviews, and everything, including the side dishes, was truly delicious! Water was provided in a pitcher on the table, making it easy to get refills. The staff were very humble, apologizing multiple times for the delay in serving the food (though personally, I didn't feel like I waited that long). There were other tempting items on the menu as well. It's a lovely restaurant that makes you want to visit again!

I always noticed this place because there is always a line at lunchtime. I arrived around 6 pm. There weren't many customers yet, but it was full by the time I finished eating. It's a popular place! I had the fried oysters and hamburger set. I chose tartar sauce and demi-glace sauce. You can also choose ponzu sauce. The portions were generous and I left feeling full! The side dishes were also well balanced. The menu is extensive. I would like to go again.

*Hamburger & Shrimp Cream Croquette ¥1280 The main dish includes a hamburger and your choice of either shrimp cream croquette, shrimp fry, oyster fry, white fish fry, chicken cutlet, or pork cutlet! I chose the shrimp cream croquette 😊 It was surprisingly filling with even a mini udon included! The side dish of simmered taro and lotus root was a nice touch, allowing you to enjoy both Western and Japanese cuisine. It's a hidden gem spot, but quite popular with customers.

Today, my family and I went out to eat together at this restaurant. The restaurant is located on the second floor, above a yakitori restaurant on the first floor. The interior is spacious with a variety of menu options. My son and I ordered the "Homemade 100% Beef Hamburger Set and Jumbo Shrimp Fry" (1,750 yen). The hamburger comes with a choice of ponzu or demi-glace sauce, along with rice, salad, and miso soup. The plate arrived with the hamburger, jumbo shrimp fry, hashed potatoes, simmered taro, lotus root, and salad. The hamburger was juicy and flavorful, and the demi-glace sauce had a rich and tangy taste. The jumbo shrimp fry was crispy and served with creamy tartar sauce. The simmered taro and lotus root had a savory broth flavor, and the hashed potatoes, salad, and miso soup were all delicious and filling. With plenty of table seating and a wide variety of menu options, we would love to visit this restaurant again with our family.

This shop has been around for a long time and used to have amazing food with huge portions. When I went there recently after a long time, the portions were still big but it felt like maybe the chef had changed? It wasn't the same as before. It was not as good for the price. I'm sorry for this kind of review.

It's been about a year since I last visited. It's located on the southeast corner of Nishioji Shichijo. It's a second-floor izakaya. It's almost full. A couple came in after me, and the next person had to wait outside. It's still before lunchtime. I ordered the fried oyster and hamburger set that was advertised on the first floor. It cost 1280 yen. A beer and chilled tofu were served. I waited for about 30 minutes. The set meal arrived. The fried oyster had a firm outer layer with plump oysters inside. The hamburger was meaty. I was satisfied. The set meal also came with three side dishes: simmered small potatoes and lotus root, and hash potatoes. The miso soup tasted like homemade. This restaurant's unique feature is the combination of a substantial main dish and reasonable prices. P.S. There is a signed board from Yoshio Yoshida, who won the 1985 Hanshin Tigers championship, at Osaka-ya. I'm pondering whether this is a famous fried oyster restaurant in the Kitano area or a different Osaka-ya.

The cost performance is good and you can enjoy a hearty Western-style lunch. I ordered the hamburger and shrimp cream croquette lunch. The hamburger sauce had a slightly bitter taste that didn't quite suit me. The shrimp cream croquette was packed with shrimp and onions, making it rich and delicious. It is quite filling, so those with small appetites may find it a bit challenging.

Visited around 12:00 on a public holiday. There were 2 groups waiting on the stairs outside the store. Despite customers coming out one after another, it seemed like they couldn't keep up with clearing the dishes, so we had to wait outside for a long time in the heat. The staff's efficiency seemed lacking from the outside. By the time we were finally seated, there was only one group eating among the 8 tables. I hope they can improve their efficiency in serving customers. I chose the "parante" lunch set, which included a hamburger, one side dish of choice, salad, rice, and miso soup, all very filling. The homemade dishes were delicious and had a homemade touch to them.

I visited a popular Western-style restaurant where there is always a line, and this time I ordered the Salisbury steak set lunch with a pork cutlet as a side. The Salisbury steak was made with firm lean meat and had a chunky texture, which paired well with the authentic demi-glace sauce. The pork cutlet was also delicious. The soup was a mini udon, but it was surprisingly tasty. I wish there was an option for tomato sauce in addition to the demi-glace sauce. Thank you for the meal!

The restaurant "Parante" offers handmade Western cuisine at a great price, providing a satisfying lunch experience. I tried a different menu this time and enjoyed the warm atmosphere, feeling relaxed. The restaurant has been loved by locals for a long time. Many people dining alone. The portions are so generous that you may not be able to move much after eating. I highly recommend this place for Western food lovers.

The restaurant mainly has long box seats and is quite spacious. I arrived around noon and there were already about three groups of customers. The menu is quite extensive, with all the classic Western dishes available as well as daily specials. On that day, they had salmon meunière. After some consideration, I decided to go with the classic hamburger and shrimp cream croquette set, with a large portion of rice. The person I was with ordered the hamburger and shrimp fry set. The food arrived after a short wait, and the rice portion was quite generous. The dishes looked delicious, with shiny demi-glace sauce and fresh salad. The shrimp cream croquette was quite big, served with side dishes of simmered taro and lotus root, as well as coin-shaped hash browns. The hamburger was more meaty than juicy, with a mild meat flavor. The demi-glace sauce was average. The shrimp cream croquette had a tomato sauce drizzle and a slightly hard crust, but the filling was tasty. The side dishes were ordinary. The shrimp fry and tartar sauce were also quite standard in taste. While it wasn't particularly impressive, sometimes it's nice to enjoy this kind of traditional Western food. If the timing is right, I might consider going back for a second visit. I'd like to try their gratin next time. On the way out, there was a line forming outside.

It's been about 10 years since I last visited the nostalgic Parante. It seems they have moved to the second floor during that time. Even on a Saturday afternoon, it was packed with customers. I waited a little and finally got a table inside. I decided on the Parante lunch, which included a hamburger and shrimp cream croquette. The wait was quite long this time, which was tiring. I'm not sure if it's only on that day or if it's always like that, but it was a long wait. The lunch served in the city was as generous as ever! The shrimp cream croquette I tried for the first time was really delicious. You can choose between miso soup and mini udon, and most people chose the udon. The udon had a sweet dashi flavor typical of Kyoto, and it was comforting with plenty of shichimi spice. The atmosphere on the second floor seemed brighter. I'm curious about the serving time, but I would like to go again. Thank you for the meal ♡

I visited this restaurant for lunch during my homecoming trip. The shop used to be on the first floor, but for some reason it moved to the second floor, which was a bit confusing, haha. I ordered the Mixed Fry Set (2,000 yen), which came with beef cutlet, shrimp croquette, large fried shrimp, white fish, lotus root, and more. It was quite a generous portion! The shrimp croquette was especially delicious with lots of shrimp inside, and the beef cutlet was tender and tasty. The demi-glace sauce here is really delicious, just like before. I've always loved the miso soup here, and it was still delicious as ever. I will definitely come back again.

I went to the handmade Western food restaurant "Parante" by myself for lunch on February 11th. I was worried about having to wait in line since it was lunchtime, but luckily I was the only one waiting at that time (afterwards, about 8 people lined up). I ordered the Parante lunch set with homemade demi-glace sauce hamburger and oyster fry for 1,100 yen. I had a feeling that the portions at Western food restaurants are a bit small, so I added a large portion for an extra 50 yen. It had been a while since I last visited, so I had forgotten what the food and portions were like. When the food arrived, I was surprised. The rice was a generous portion, and there were plenty of side dishes. It included a hamburger cooked just the way I like it, four oyster fries, two pieces of pumpkin, lotus root, hash browns, salad, and miso soup. I put in a lot of effort and managed to finish it all. The restaurant was full from the moment I entered until I left, and there were about 5 people waiting outside. It is a high-quality Western food restaurant, so be mindful of the waiting time when you visit. Thank you very much.

I felt like eating oyster fry, so I went to a restaurant. I arrived after 12:30 with no wait, lucky! I ordered the oyster fry set meal, but when it arrived, it was different than usual... the oysters were small. I'm not sure if I just happened to get small ones this time, but compared to what I've had before, these were the smallest. I was quite disappointed. The omurice was also not available because they were busy. I understand that prices have to go up in this day and age, but I hope they can go back to the way they were before, even if they have to raise the prices. It seems like they are trying their best despite the shortage of staff, but it was disappointing in various ways. I wonder if I will go back next time...

Way too much food!!! The gratin was huge, with a mountain of rice on the side! The crab cream croquette alone was enough to fill me up! And then, another voluminous dish came out! Even though it's a Western-style restaurant, they served miso soup and pickled vegetables as a palate cleanser. And for some reason, they served cold tofu with red wine?? So strange! But you don't see many places these days that give you this much food, haha. They even had a signature from the Japan national rugby team, someone named Kazuya? Who is that? The taste was average, but I felt warm and fuzzy seeing the effort put in by the restaurant.

A few years ago, the restaurant moved to the second floor of a building where it used to be on the first floor. In the past, I often saw elderly neighbors on the first floor, but I wonder how it is now. When you go up the narrow staircase, there is a door. Inside the restaurant, there are only table seats. Seats are mostly assigned by the staff, with "reserved" plates placed on empty tables. The tables are lined up in a single row, but there is enough space so you don't have to worry about being too close to others. The food is still the same generous Western-style dishes. The taste is quite traditional and should appeal to everyone's preferences. On this day, I had gratin with crab croquette. I might be a light eater because I found it quite filling, and my husband also laughed saying he was too full. The dishes are so delicious that you can't stop eating. Thank you for the meal.
