I previously introduced the Curry Bun Fair at "Shun no Eki Yahata Store". The curry bun I bought there was so delicious that I decided to look it up and found out it was from the bakery OHSHIMA in Joyo. I was thinking about going to buy it, but then I found out about OHSHIMA's cafe on the 2nd floor of the famous Ryokoya, known for dorayaki and espuma kakigori. Moreover, they offer a full course of bread there. A bread full course? If I can eat that quality of bread, I have to go! So, I went. It is located between Terada Station and JR Joyo Station, with a white building and purple noren as a landmark. There is parking space for three cars in front. I went for the 1:15 pm session on a weekday, and we arrived a little early and waited in the waiting room until called. When called, we entered the store. The store was almost full with people who started at 12 pm. We put on the gloves provided on the table and used tongs to pick up the bread. The staff explained, "You will be served with appetizer bread, main bread, and dessert bread. Sometimes people eat too much in the first half and can't eat the second half, so please take it easy." Even though the first part was almost full, they had prepared for the second part separately. We were the only ones in the second part. First came the appetizer bread. "Wait, is all of this appetizer bread?" I asked the staff, and they replied, "Yes, there is more to come!" Oh no! I felt like I would get full on appetizers alone. I carefully selected about half of them and put them on the plate to try them. The bread was so fluffy when I picked it up with the tongs, just as I had expected. All the bread was fluffy, so basically all of them were delicious, but the appetizer bread was especially delicious. - Frankfurter and zucchini bread: Spicy seasoning, addictive! - Egg sandwich: Simple yet extremely delicious... There is a hint of something deep in the seasoning. - Banana tart: The tart crust was crispy! The harmony of the dissolved granulated sugar sweetness and banana was amazing. They also served salad, drink, and soup that followed. Finally, the curry bun was served! It looked so delicious. I split it in two and the overflowing curry... The rich flavor of the curry made me momentarily feel like I was in India. It was so delicious! "What is the white thing on the bread?" I asked the staff, and they replied, "It's rice flour." Rice flour? "It's a type of rice flour," the staff explained. The fine powder on the surface of the bread, the chewy inside of the bread, the texture and sweetness of the fine powder, and the rich spiciness of the curry combined to make it the best! It was delicious even though I had bought it at Shun no Eki before, but freshly made and hot is the best! I wanted seconds... - Salt bread: Soft and with a gentle saltiness. - Pizza: I thought the same thing about the appetizer bread, maybe it's olive oil that connects the cheese and bread? The in-between was delicious. They kept serving more bread, and I couldn't keep up with eating them all. For dessert, they served: - Cream bread: Strong vanilla flavor and not too sweet, which was delicious. - French toast: Honey-soaked and custard in between with a subtle taste but a change in texture. That concluded the meal, but there were still some appetizer bread left, so I tried the delicious bread and fried bread before leaving. In conclusion... Even after eating a bread course at a cafe, you will still want to buy the delicious bread to take home. The 12 pm session on weekdays costs 1,500 yen, and the 1:15 pm session costs 1,300 yen. Both sessions end at 2:30 pm, so if you chat while eating, the 12 pm session may allow you to eat leisurely. OHSHIMA's bread is expensive, so the cafe offers good value. There is no two-session system on weekends.
