Near Kyoto Shijo-Karasuma Station, "Iolite Coffee Roasters" is a cafe with impeccable hospitality. Their house blend for 570 yen is a carefully brewed, refreshing cup. The Espresso Banana Shake (espresso, banana, soy milk, vanilla cream, honey, cocoa nibs) for 730 yen is a rich drink with each ingredient complementing the others in perfect balance.

Around 12:30 on Saturday, I stopped by to escape the heat after wandering around the floats at the Gion Festival. The cafe was run by a couple and a young part-timer. I sat down and ordered. I noticed a lemon cake at the counter and decided to pair it with a single origin iced coffee, which happened to be from Costa Rica today. Despite being a high-quality bean, it was priced the same as the others, making me feel like I got a good deal. Later, I tried a sample of the Ethiopian coffee at the entrance and found that I actually preferred it over the Costa Rican one. The cafe always has a nice, trendy atmosphere and the staff are friendly and welcoming, making it a great place to visit anytime.

The name of the gem, a post-meal coffee time at the shop. The entrance is made of glass, allowing you to see inside from the outside and letting sunlight in from inside, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere. They have a roasting machine inside, adding to the pleasant ambiance. It was great that you could taste different single origin beans before ordering. The drink menu was also extensive, offering options like Espresso Tonic and Grape Juice. They also have light meals, making it seem like a good spot for lunch. The cafe was run by a harmonious couple, providing a pleasant coffee time from start to finish. Thank you very much.

The pizza toast at Columbia Pizza Toast was made with thick slices of bread, but it was fluffy and easy to eat. The coffee was light roast and refreshing. There seems to be a variety of options available. Also, there was a unique Australian dessert called Lamington that I would like to try!

The cafe latte and coffee are both delicious. The cafe latte was very fruity. The staff are all professional and very kind. When I visited after a long time, I noticed that they had added more food items to the menu, so it seems like a good place for breakfast or lunch. During seasons other than winter, there are times when small bugs fly around inside the store, which can be a little concerning, but the interior is clean.

This coffee is very delicious! I was able to drink a delicious cappuccino after a long time. The staff is very polite and kind. The atmosphere of the shop is very nice. It is a recommended place where you can feel energized. Every time I go to Kyoto, I will come back again.

Final episode of Mins Cake. This week is ending. I usually go for hand drip, but this time I ordered an espresso-based, White Flat (w). This cafe offers a variety of specialty coffees and a wide range of desserts, making it a very interesting place. I want to try the newly added "Lamington" on the menu next time! Also, it seems that chocolate desserts are being pushed this month... Hmm, I'm already starting to think about what to choose next time.

I visited this cafe because it was recommended for coffee and sandwiches on social media. The interior, with its wood accents, exudes warmth and is very inviting. The BLTC sandwich is apparently famous, but unfortunately, it was sold out today. In fact, all the sandwiches were sold out. What a shame. So, this time I ordered the house blend coffee! It was a well-balanced blend with no bitterness. I heard they offer taste tests too, which is nice. I didn't have time for it this time, but maybe next time. Thank you for the meal.

I often visit just before the store closes, and sometimes I feel guilty, but this time I arrived early in the afternoon and luckily found the mincemeat pie that I had been curious about. It is a very classic British dessert, not well known outside the country, and definitely not something you can easily find at a nearby coffee shop. But they made it perfectly here, with a great balance of spices like cinnamon, orange zest, and saffron, along with plenty of nuts and raisins. The sweetness with a hint of acidity and the overall flavor balance is superb. The pastry is firm and crispy, making it a unique type of cake. Highly recommended! They also have a variety of specialty coffee beans, including my favorite fermented Costa Rican beans and the Koke (a region in Ethiopia) beans that I used to drink a lot. It's truly a place to be grateful for, with a wide range of special coffees and delicious desserts like fruit-filled roll cakes and pumpkin Mont Blanc. The quality is consistent, the desserts are creative, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is perfect. It's a cafe that anyone would enjoy.

I found a coffee shop with fewer people on Shijo Street. They offer a selection of beans, and I decided to try their blend first. It was smoother than I expected, with a light aroma and bitterness. It had a unique sensation of smoothly passing through the throat. However, I felt it was a bit lacking. Thank you for the meal.

Stylish lighting in a traditional Japanese-style structure. A wide variety of light roasted coffees. I tried Kenya and Geisha (surprisingly not Ethiopian, but Guatemalan), and also bought Rwanda. For dessert, the lemon cake is cute! It's a bit crumbly though... Also, a roll cake with muscat grapes, a very Japanese dessert - foreigners probably wouldn't understand the obsession with fruit (especially grapes and melons) (they were separated so easier to eat than expected). If those huge grapes were whole, you wouldn't be able to cut them even with a fork... Maybe next time.

Kyoto is about a 3-minute walk from Shijo. I stumbled upon it while walking down a narrow alley. At the entrance, there is a large roasting machine. There is a café space in the back. The couple who run it are very kind, especially the wife, who provides soothing customer service. When I sat down, she explained each page of the menu because there are many options. The husband trained at "Amameria Espresso" in Musashikoyama, Tokyo, before opening this café in Kyoto, the wife's hometown. The menu is divided into pages for hand-drip blends and singles, various iced coffees, sweets, etc. What I had that day: 1. Iced Coffee Cold Brew for 570 yen - The house blend is dark roasted, with a smooth and delicious extraction. 2. Blueberry Muffin for 450 yen - Since the lemon cake was sold out, I chose this. It was soft and gentle. The coffee jelly at the neighboring table looked unexpectedly delicious. With outstanding hospitality and a cozy atmosphere, I would like to visit again.

Coffee Shop Exploration: This was a coffee shop I had been wanting to visit. As I arrived at the entrance, the shop did not have the typical Kyoto vibe. Inside, the first thing that caught my eye was the roasting machine. Beyond that was the order counter and further back was the seating area. I had heard that their sweets were delicious, but I decided to start with a coffee. The coffee I ordered was "Colombia Santuario Citrus Sweetness" (medium light roast). The coffee was served in a vibrant orange cup from Origami. I detected flavors of muscat grapes and celery. It had a very spicy kick when I took a sip, with a muscat-like flavor and a vegetable-like acidity. As it cooled down, a lime-like acidity became more prominent. This change in flavor is what makes medium roasts interesting, and also tests the skills of the roaster. It's no wonder this place is popular.

I paid an extra 100 yen to upsize my cafe latte. It was nice to have a lot to drink, but I drank it slowly and it ended up getting cold, which was a bit disappointing. The cafe had a simple and cute interior, allowing me to enjoy some quiet alone time. It was a good find in a quiet location.

A coffee shop with delicious coffee and meals that make you want to visit again and again♡ This time, I tried ordering a meal for the first time: - Caesar sandwich? 800 yen - Plancha? 650 yen The sandwich was very filling and satisfying, with a whole wheat bread-like texture. The Plancha, made with soy milk, paired well with the slightly garlicky sandwich, creating a refreshing combination. I left with a full and happy stomach!

This is a coffee roaster near the hotel where I stayed. After exploring, I stopped by to quench my thirst. Upon entering the shop, the order counter is on the left. First, I placed my order and paid, then sat at a table towards the back. Once my order was ready, a staff member brought it to my table. My husband ordered an iced cafe latte, while I usually prefer tea over coffee, but since we were at a coffee roaster, I decided to try an iced cafe au lait this time. The cafe latte had a strong espresso flavor with milk, giving it a bitter taste, while the cafe au lait was made with lightly roasted coffee and milk, resulting in a milder flavor. I also asked for gum syrup, which made it enjoyable even for someone like me who doesn't usually drink coffee. Now that we've taken a break, we will continue to enjoy our stroll. Thank you for the meal!

The most recommended coffee shop in Kyoto. The owner couple's personality, knowledge, skills, coffee taste, marketing, design, and various other aspects make this shop outstanding. I ordered coffee beans from the Santa Teresa farm in Costa Rica after being able to cup beforehand. It had a grain-like aroma and a taste of black honey that caught my attention. This coffee is incredibly delicious!!! It definitely ranks in my top five! It was brewed using hand drip, so I believe the master's skills are quite high. As soon as I entered, they greeted me and provided explanations about the shop and introduced the coffee prepared for cupping. The wife is also very friendly and knowledgeable about coffee, creating a gentle atmosphere with the Beach Boys playing in the background. If you are going to Kyoto, you must visit this place. The quality of the coffee is very high.

It was a wonderful customer service. The shop is not very large, but there were many customers, including those taking out, and a few regulars. The coffee was authentic and delicious. It's a good shop that makes you want to come back again. Thank you for the meal.

I have visited this cafe several times and no matter how many times I come, the customer service is always pleasant. They explain the coffee and the daily sweets in detail, and when they have time, they introduce them carefully, making me want to try everything. I love the playful touch of having animal drawings on the coffee bean origin explanations. - Cafe Latte (with oat milk for an extra 50 yen) 530 yen - Lamington (matcha) 550 yen I really like coffee, but Iolite's cafe latte is truly delicious. I usually change to soy milk, but this time the staff recommended oat milk. I didn't know that oat milk allows for latte art! (With soy milk, the components don't mix well, so latte art is not possible). It's still delicious! The Lamington is like a chiffon cake squeezed into a castella cake. Sorry for the poor explanation. It's quite sweet, so it seems to go well with deep roasted coffee. There was a plain option, but I chose matcha. Matcha is kneaded into the dough, and the outside is coated with coconut. I think I'll get hooked on this too.

I went to this coffee shop after seeing it in a magazine the other day. The interior of the shop had a cozy atmosphere, as it was renovated from an old house. The place was bright and welcoming, with coffee tasting available for coffee enthusiasts. The colorful and cute tableware added to the charm of the place. Since I'm not a fan of coffee, I opted for a café au lait, which was mild and delicious. I also bought a lemon cake, which I have been obsessed with lately. The cake was slightly sour, just like biting into a lemon, but it was incredibly tasty. The prices were reasonable, with the cake costing around 400 yen, similar to the price of the coffee. I enjoyed the coffee, but I would go back just for the lemon cake. The shop itself was quiet and had a great atmosphere.
