There was a notice saying that there were fewer staff than usual that day, causing delays in service. Unfortunately, the female staff seemed unhappy. However, the pancakes were so delicious, fluffy and creamy, that they made up for the disappointing service. They were so good that I would definitely want to come back. Thank you for the meal. While wandering around Gion, I stumbled upon a shop with a long line. After researching, I found out it was a pancake shop that I had seen on Instagram before. The wait was quite long (about 7-8 groups ahead of us, waited for about 1.5 hours), and the turnover rate didn't seem to be that great. However, once inside, the atmosphere was nice and we were able to enjoy our meal in a calm setting. I ordered the most basic fluffy pancake, which was so soft that it fell apart when I tried to cut it with a fork, so I had to use a spoon. My companion had the collaboration pancake with Tsujiri, which had a lovely matcha fragrance and was very delicious.

A few minutes walk from Keihan Gion Shijo Station. I always give up on entering because of the long line, but today there was no line (lol) Lucky me. The inside of the restaurant resembles a Western castle with a large chandelier. There is also a terrace seat where you can enjoy the sound of the river, but today I chose a table inside for the coolness (lol). Upon entering, you first place your order, pay, and then take your seat. I chose the croffle, a waffle made with croissant dough, topped with vanilla ice cream. At first, I cut it along the squares and ate it with the ice cream on top, but it became cumbersome, so I switched to eating it by hand (lol) It was delicious! It disappeared in no time (lol).

The pancakes had a unique texture I had never experienced before, they were fluffy and bubbly, incredibly delicious ❤ The soft serve ice cream that came with the pancakes was also delicious!! There was red bean paste underneath the matcha mochi-like thing. I would love to try another flavor next time.

I visited before 3 pm and there were about 5 groups waiting in line, which was considered to be on the lower side. It was lucky for us, but the sun was strong, so the women in line needed parasols. The foreign female tourists behind us managed to find shade. The staff provided stylish paper cups and water near the entrance, which I personally appreciated. We were seated on a sofa and the atmosphere inside the restaurant was nice. The pancakes were fluffy and not too sweet, making me consider getting seconds. However, since payment is made upon entering, I decided to save the extra serving for next time. The Eggs Benedict were made with a croissant dough waffle, offering a new texture and just the right amount of seasoning. I'm thinking of trying the burger next time. The staff's service was pleasant, not too intrusive.

After a photoshoot in Gion with the friendly couple Mr. and Mrs. Mairevi, we sought refuge in a cafe along the Shirakawa River. The cafe we wanted to visit had a long line due to the impending end of the rainy season, so we decided to go to this cafe instead. "Panel Cafe" is a pancake cafe that is mainly located in Gifu and Nagoya. It is conveniently located about a 2-minute walk from Gion Shijo Station, with the soothing sound of the river as background music. The vintage-style cozy tables, sofa seats by the window, and terrace seats outside make it a perfect spot for a date. The bright interior, with natural light pouring in, is also suitable for a bar setting at night. The matcha pancakes collaborated with Gion Tsujiri are popular here. Since we had just had lunch, we opted for the tiramisu. The hojicha latte was delicious, with a roasted hojicha flavor. The tiramisu, priced at over 1500 yen, was more voluminous than expected, so it's best shared between two people. It is served in a transparent tube-like plastic container, making it Instagram-worthy. The taste was satisfying, with a creamy mascarpone cheese and whipped cream mixture. Overall, it was a pleasant and relaxing cafe in Gion, perfect for a break while exploring the charming streets of Kyoto.

Now, after eating, we were planning to go to Komori-san in Gion, but when we arrived, there was a line of over 20 people! Unbelievable! So, we decided to go to Panel Cafe Kyoto, which my partner had picked up as a backup. We waited in line for a bit, about 15 minutes, and then we were seated. This place is famous for its pancakes, so we ordered: - Hojicha Tiramisu (shared between 2 people) 1573 yen - Matcha Latte (small) for me 583 yen - Hojicha Latte (small) for my partner 583 yen We had just finished a Japanese course meal, so we shared the Hojicha Tiramisu. It was a pancake with a generous amount of Gion Tsujiri hojicha powder, and when we removed the cover, the tiramisu started flowing out, very Instagrammable! We drizzled hojicha sauce on top and enjoyed it. The taste was decent, nothing special. The Matcha Latte was rich and delicious, but the portion size and price didn't quite match up. So, this place is more recommended for those who prioritize aesthetics over taste. The clientele was very young, and since we all have baby faces, we blended in well, but if a group of the same age came, we might stick out! Well, age doesn't matter when it comes to enjoying good food, right? Overall, it's a place for those who want to soak up some youthful energy. Thank you for the meal!

There were terrace seats and the atmosphere was nice. I went around 11:30 on Friday and was able to get in without waiting. About half of the customers were foreigners. I ordered matcha tiramisu pancakes, a hamburger (no photo), and orange juice. I also ordered the chicken and potato set, and everything was delicious.

I made a reservation through Tabelog and went to the restaurant. After paying at the counter right after entering, I was guided to my seat. Since it was 2 PM on a weekday, I could choose any seat inside the restaurant. I chose to sit outside. The pancake was fluffy and very delicious. On top was a mochi dough, and underneath was sweet red bean paste. It was a bit difficult to eat. The ice cream paired perfectly with the pancake.

Visited around 11 am. This is a shop where you pay before ordering. It didn't seem too crowded in the early hours, but by the time I left, more and more people were arriving. The combination of matcha, creme brulee, and kinako is perfect. I saw it on Instagram and knew I had to try it! We were number 11 and there were three groups behind us before the reception closed. I ordered the fluffy pancake and my friend ordered the creme brulee pancake at the entrance before being seated. The shop has a retro Showa-era interior. The pancakes came with whipped cream and soft serve ice cream. The pancakes were cold inside. I think the pancakes are actually delicious, but they tasted different from what I expected.

By the time I left, there was a line forming, so it might be good to arrive early. The pancakes also looked delicious, so I would like to go again.

The restroom is located downstairs, adding a fun sense of exploration.

This was the most delicious pancake I have ever eaten. I loved that it didn't have a floury taste. I ate it outside, and it was a beautiful day with cherry blossoms in bloom, making me feel happy. The hojicha (roasted green tea) was also delicious, and the soft serve ice cream that came with it was not too overpowering, quite refreshing. The staircase leading to the restroom was impressive, so I couldn't resist taking a photo. I waited in line for an hour before getting inside the restaurant, but it was definitely worth it because the food was so delicious. I would like to try their hamburger next time.

There is also a terrace, which would be perfect for enjoying a cafe time while overlooking the river in the upcoming season. We placed our order at the entrance and were guided to a sofa seat. We ordered an iced coffee, hojicha pancake, and potato fry with chicken fry. The pancake was fluffy, moist inside, not too sweet, and easy for men to enjoy. It looks like a small garden and is perfect for taking photos. Despite being close to closing time, the restaurant was full, and the staff were busy but provided friendly and pleasant service. Truly a popular spot.

After seeing it on Instagram, I just had to try the chocolate and s'mores pancakes. The pancakes were fluffy with a rich chocolate sauce and marshmallows on top. The ice cream served alongside was creamy and paired well with the pancakes, creating a delicious combination. It was a weekday lunchtime, but there was a line outside, so I recommend making a reservation. Next time, I want to try the croffles.
