KUMA Survey (Daily Use) (100: Excellent 80: Outstanding 60: Good 50: Pass 40: Just Passing) ■ Overall rating 51 points (Taste 48 points) A strong focus on shochu at this eel restaurant! Continuing to challenge eel dishes today. I searched for an eel restaurant within walking distance from my accommodation in Kyoto and the rating was not very high (3.04 2020/9/25), but you never know until you try the eel, so I decided to visit. (Tabelog Net Reservation) It's about a 20-minute walk from Kyoto Station and about 7-8 minutes from Toji Station. The restaurant is located in a residential area. The interior of the restaurant is quite spacious, with two tables for six people, two tables for four people, two tables for two people, and a counter with five seats. For a restaurant in a residential area, it is quite an impressive establishment. I waited while drinking beer at my seat for about 10 minutes, and then the "eel bowl" arrived. The sauce was on the richer side and the eel was very delicious. Thank you for the meal. * The alcohol selection includes high-end brands such as Morio Kishida, Mura, and Maou. A glass costs over ¥2000, but considering market prices, it may be reasonable. ■ Recommended for Family, Couples, Solo, Parties, Business, Semi-formal/Long stays allowed ----KUMA's Critical Evaluation---- ■ Store/Service 80 points 16pt □ Store/Interior/Cleanliness The brand-new store has a clean and tidy white wood design, giving a sense of cleanliness. The seats are spacious and comfortable, making it a very good establishment. It feels like a traditional Japanese restaurant. □ Service/System/Service Seat ordering, pay later, card payment available □ Comfort Bright and spacious, with many adult families, it was quite comfortable and pleasant. ■ Order/Cuisine □ Recommended Set ¥2850 □ Tabelog Coupon Eel bones □ Draft Beer ¥660 Bottle ¥770 ■ Taste Evaluation 48 points 28.8pt □ Eel bones (3 pieces) = Fried straight backbones of 3 eels. The saltiness was wonderful and it paired perfectly with beer. □ Eel (half portion) is steamed in the Kanto style, so it is tender. It lacks thickness, but the deliciousness of the eel is fully enjoyed. The sauce is slightly salty from being boiled down, so making it a bit milder would enhance the flavor significantly. The liver was also good. ■ Cost Performance 30 points 6p The drinks are quite expensive. The half portion costs ¥2850, and probably around ¥4500 for a whole eel, making it a relatively high price.
