I arrived a little after 1:00 pm, past the peak lunch hour, so the restaurant was relatively empty. I came alone and was seated at a table by the window, where I looked over the menu. This restaurant usually only operates at night, but during the state of emergency, they are offering lunch and takeout, with limited-time specials like the "Salsa Tantan Mazesoba." I was initially going to order the "Salsa Curry Mazesoba," but then I saw the limited "Salsa Tantan Mazesoba" (1,000 yen) with a topping of a half-cooked egg (100 yen) and decided to order that instead. The yellow bowl that arrived had lettuce, a half-cooked egg, salsa sauce at the bottom, meat miso, and fried garlic sprinkled on top. I mixed up the ingredients, lifted the noodles, and ate them after thoroughly mixing the sauce and toppings. The noodles were flat-winged noodles with a chewy and elastic texture, and they absorbed the sauce well, making them very delicious. The half-cooked egg had a gooey yolk, the salsa sauce had a nice acidity and spicy heat, and the fragrant garlic and meat miso combined to create a spicy heat, richness, and umami. The restaurant's original MASCARAS sauce comes in two varieties, white (slightly spicy) and red (spicy), and when poured over the mazesoba, it adds acidity, spiciness, and richness, enhancing the flavor. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and ordered an Americano (300 yen) as well, which had a rich and deep flavor that paired excellently with the mazesoba. Although this restaurant is not a ramen or mazesoba specialty shop, the limited-time mazesoba was of such high quality that it would be a shame not to make it a regular menu item. I also bought a bottle of MASCARAS (red) sauce to take home.
