Located on the first floor of The Royal Park Hotel, it is easy to find as it is along a main street. In addition to meals, they also sell bread and cakes. I made a reservation for dinner. The interior of the restaurant has a stylish atmosphere. I opted for the 3800 yen course, which includes all-you-can-eat bread. The course includes an amuse-bouche, choice of appetizer, choice of main course, all-you-can-eat bread, choice of dessert, and coffee or tea. Being able to choose the appetizer, main course, and dessert was great. For the appetizer, I had the "Pan-Seared Scallop with Green Mustard Flavor", for the main course, I had the "Steak Hash with Roasted Shishito Peppers and Warm Vegetables", and for dessert, I had the "Paris Brest with Strawberries". The amuse-bouche consisted of two types of canapés: beef tendon rillette and marinated clams. The scallop appetizer was delicious with a refreshing sauce. The steak hash main course was like a meaty hamburger with plenty of vegetables, very satisfying. The dessert was surprisingly generous in portion size. The course desserts at some restaurants can be small, but this one was very satisfying. The pot of tea service also provided enough for two cups. The all-you-can-eat bread was a highlight, with five varieties of hot bread to enjoy with butter and olive oil. Considering the content and price, I felt this dinner at a hotel restaurant was quite a good deal. I am curious about their lunch and afternoon tea, so I would like to visit again.

Located on the first floor of The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Shijo, just a short walk from Hankyu Karasuma Station and Subway Shijo Station, is a brasserie called "Le Bon Vivre" where you can feel like you've stepped into Paris. Established in 1913, the longstanding bakery in Kyoto, Shinshindo, has produced a cafe-brasserie that promises a happy time with their proud bread, dishes, wine, and cheese. "Whole Peach Afternoon Tea 2023" includes: Top tier: Whole peaches, Peach rare cheesecake, Lychee jelly verrine, Mini macarons Middle tier: Homemade scones with banana and coconut (served with clotted cream and maple syrup), Canele de Bordeaux Bottom tier: Croissant sandwich with country ham, Cassoulet tartine, Chilled soup of beets and potatoes The drink options are free-flowing Ronnefeldt tea (4 varieties) or a pot of coffee made with hand-selected beans from Kyoto's Kamogawa Cafe Verde. The whole peach is truly impressive, and the way it is shaped like a peach is adorable. The White Peach "Hikawa Hakuhou" from Yamanashi Prefecture and other seasonal varieties are used, providing a different flavor experience depending on the time of year. The Peach rare cheesecake is a light and subtly sweet type. The Lychee jelly verrine is reminiscent of a Salty Dog cocktail, with lychee jelly layered on top of refreshing mint jelly and juicy ruby pink grapefruit. As a fan of rich sweets, I found that these light desserts may be the best way to fully enjoy the peach flavor. In the middle tier, the scone made with mashed bananas, yogurt, and coconut powder is baked to perfection. Enjoy it with maple syrup and clotted cream. The Canele, a traditional French pastry, is quite large.

I was surprised that all the menu at the storefront was in English, but they also had a Japanese menu inside. The interior was cold, but had a calm atmosphere. The main lunch was 1800 yen, consisting of Steak Ash with Manjanshi peppers. This is a hamburger made only with minced meat. It has a punchy flavor and is delicious! It's not too sweet. There are various spices around, and dipping in them adds a spicy kick. The demiglace sauce is also delicious. The vegetables are all tasty. The bread is refillable in the Sanmark style. You can choose from sesame, mixed grains, olive, brioche, and one more. The sesame flavor is very delicious. It comes with butter and extra virgin olive oil. The tea is served in a pot, which is nice!

I went north from Higashi-Honganji Temple, Shoseien, and had dessert at this shop. - Rich Nut Brownie 850 yen: A cake with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. I added a hot coffee (made with Cafe Verdi's hand-selected coffee beans) for an additional 350 yen. - Chestnut and Nut Tart 700 yen: A tart with chunks of chestnut and nuts on top of a crispy tart crust, served with smooth whipped cream. I added a pot of tea (Summer Darjeeling from Ronnefeldt) for an additional 350 yen. All prices are inclusive of tax. The shop is located on the first floor of The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Shijo, facing Karasuma Street, and has a nice atmosphere. The cakes and drinks were delicious and had a very pleasant taste, allowing us to have a high-quality cafe time. They also offer a variety of bread from a long-established bakery.

The appearance was stylish and there were many customers, so I decided to go in. I had the cake set. The rich nut brownie was delicious with ice cream, and the brownie itself was very rich. It had a satisfying texture that required a knife and fork to eat! The chestnut and nut tart was also delicious. The hot coffee was made with hand-selected coffee beans from Café Verdi, and it was a deep and tasty coffee!

We had a French white wine from Alsace, Riesling Cuvée Réservée, and a red wine, Cave de Syrah. We enjoyed scallops with green mustard sauce and a selection of three cheeses. We could choose the cheeses and they were served with a baguette. We had a light meal as we had pizza earlier, so we could fully enjoy the luxurious wines.

Eat for life

I stayed at The Royal Park Hotel and used this brasserie on the first floor. The ham in the set was thick-cut and satisfying, and the combination of cheese and whole wheat toast was excellent. The seasoned carrots were delicious and seemed like you could eat them endlessly. I ordered separate breads including croissants, chocolate croissants, apple cream croissants, and caramel butter French toast. The croissants are recommended overall, while the French toast was moist with a slightly sweet crust, which personally wasn't to my liking. The early opening time at 7:30 was convenient. The total cost for four breads, two milks, and one morning set was just under 5,000 yen, which felt a bit expensive.

I had some errands around this area and had some time, so I decided to stop by here. I arrived around 9 o'clock and there were quite a few customers, most of them seemed to be coming from hotels. The interior of the restaurant had a fancy atmosphere with chandeliers. However, since it was breakfast time, I didn't think it would be too expensive, so I went in. I ordered the French onion soup gratin set with Gruyere cheese on top for 1500 yen. It was a bit pricey for breakfast, but it was delicious. The French onion soup had a lot of onions in it and was full of ingredients. The flavor was really good. It was quite rich, so it might be nice to dip bread in it! The coffee came in a pot even though I was alone. As you might be able to tell from the photo, it was quite light and easy to drink. By the way, the name of the restaurant, Le Bon Vivre, means "good life." I hope you all have a good life and a good day! Thank you for the meal.

On Thursday, September 15th, I made a reservation and visited with one other person. Le Bon Vivre is a cafe brasserie located on the first floor of the Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Shijo. The nearest station is Shijo Station on the subway, just a 1-minute walk from exit 6. The name Le Bon Vivre means 'good life'. Established in 1913, Kyoto bakery Shinshindo proposed a brasserie where you can enjoy happy moments with their proud bread, dishes, wine, and cheese. You can savor traditional French regional and home-cooked dishes in a casual setting. We reserved the lunch 'selectable full set'. It includes appetizer, main course, dessert, unlimited bread, and coffee (or tea) for 2,700 yen. The menu includes various dishes, and I tried the beet and potato cold soup, chicken and porcini mushroom cream stew, chestnut and nut tart, and more. The cold soup was vibrant pink and had a nice balance with the potatoes. The chicken and porcini mushroom stew was tender and delicious, served with raisin butter rice. The chestnut and nut tart had a crispy crust with plenty of chestnuts and nuts, perfect for autumn. The bread selection was diverse and tasty, and the coffee or tea served with dessert was a nice touch. Overall, the food was delicious, and I look forward to visiting again to try their other offerings.

Cafe Brasserie Le Bon Vivre is a cafe and brasserie located on the 1st floor of The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Shijo. It is operated by Shinshindo, so the bread is of good quality. Among the Shinshindo establishments, this restaurant is a bit on the pricier side. They specialize in French cuisine, with a French-style interior. I visited to have breakfast, and surprisingly, they open at 6:30 am. There seems to be a difference between the breakfast for hotel guests and the general public, as there were separate menus at the entrance for each. The general public entrance is from Karasuma Street. The breakfast costs 2,420 yen and you can choose a main dish and a drink. I chose the Onion Gratin Soup with salad, Fried Egg and Grilled Ham, and Scrambled Egg and Grilled Ham. The bread is all-you-can-eat, and they bring coffee and tea in a pot. The bread, being from a bakery, was delicious. The Onion Gratin Soup was especially tasty. The ham had a luxurious taste and was delicious. It was great that we could have plenty of drinks. The staff were attentive and provided high-level service. I was able to relax and enjoy a meaningful time. Thank you for the meal.

Highly satisfying lunch. I ordered onion gratin soup for the appetizer and steak au jus for the main course. Many people around me also ordered the steak au jus. The taste was delicious. All the menu items looked appetizing, making it hard to choose. The bread was all-you-can-eat and served warm, so I ended up eating several pieces. The walnut bread and small round bread were particularly delicious. I will definitely come back. The atmosphere is calming, and I would like to come back to try their cakes!

I tried the Vanilla Mousse with Kyoto Mizuho eggs for 550 yen, along with a set of tea for 350 yen. I wasn't sure what Vanilla Mousse was at first, but it's similar to pudding or creme brulee. I always thought mousse was more like cream, but now I know. It tasted great when combined with the jam at the bottom. It even goes well with raspberry and blueberry flavors. Mint also pairs nicely, adding a refreshing touch.

Polite staff and extremely unfriendly staff.... Explaining the bread while glancing at other tables, raising a hand twice when passing by, calling out once, making eye contact but saying nothing.... There were other incidents as well.... It was the worst service I've experienced this year and it really put a damper on my day.... The staff member seemed experienced, not a newbie, so it was very disappointing.... There were 11 tables but only 3 were occupied, with 2 tables having solo diners.... It's also a hotel breakfast venue, and when I asked the front desk, they mentioned that even before COVID, the dining rate was quite low, so there must be a reason for the lack of customers.... If they're feeling unwell, why not take a day off? If they hate their job so much and do it begrudgingly, why not switch to a different job? It tarnishes the reputation of the restaurant.... If they chose one of those options, they wouldn't make everyone around them so unhappy.... I know it's meddling, but I can't help but think that way....

I found an amazing afternoon tea and went with a friend right away. This strawberry afternoon tea started on February 15th. The price was 2500 yen (tax included) and I had to double-check three times. During this time of year, there are many cute strawberry buffets and afternoon teas being held in various places, but strawberries themselves are expensive, and 90% of them are held in hotel lounges... and usually cost over 5000 yen! And often at inconvenient times like 4 pm when I have to pick up my child... So, I never expected to find a strawberry afternoon tea in this price range! And it even came with three Amaou strawberries! And the time slot was from 1 pm, so I went with a friend who lives nearby. The shop is located on the 1st floor of The Royal Park Hotel, right near Karasuma Station, so it's easy to find! It's a hotel restaurant, but you can enter directly from outside, making it easy to enter, and the interior of the cafe brasserie is cute and has a casual atmosphere. Before entering the shop, they provided alcohol disinfection and temperature checks. Since I had made a reservation, I was smoothly guided to my table. The "Strawberry Afternoon Tea" (top row) included: - Large Amaou strawberries - Raspberry rare cheesecake decorated with Amaou compote - Wild berry jelly with Amaou and blueberries (middle row) - Homemade freshly baked scones with strawberries and white chocolate, served with homemade raspberry jam and clotted cream - Amaou and whipped cream brioche sandwich - Mixed sandwich For drinks, you could choose from a pot of coffee, a pot of tea, or a pot of strawberry-flavored tea. I thought it was one drink included in the price, but they said, "You can have refills, so feel free to ask for more," which was great because it's tough to get through an afternoon tea with just one drink, so I was very happy! This was my first time having an afternoon tea at this price range where you could have refills! The staff even approached me and I ended up having three pots of tea. While the afternoon tea set itself wasn't too large, each item was substantial. It was a luxury to have three large fresh Amaou strawberries included! The scones were warm and large, and the brioche was also filled with plenty of strawberries. The bread was from Shinshindo, so it was reliably delicious. The cost performance and the good service from the staff made me write a review right away. Under normal circumstances, this afternoon tea could easily be fully booked right away. It's an afternoon tea that I would highly recommend to those who live nearby, as they also offer it for one person. I even received a croissant as a gift by filling out a survey. If the timing works out, I would love to go back during the period.

I had a Croque Monsieur for lunch. The seating was spacious, not crowded even during lunchtime, so I could relax and enjoy my meal. The dish consisted of delicious bread, thick slices of ham, and fragrant cheese that paired perfectly. I chose salad as a side, so the meal was quite filling. However, the salad was just lettuce with dressing, nothing special. Unfortunately, the restaurant's lighting was not photo-friendly, despite its cute atmosphere. The pictures turned out barely viewable even after editing... I'm sorry.

It's been a while since I visited for lunch. I really like the quiet atmosphere and the good value lunch options here. The bread is pretty tasty too. However, the shrimp gratin I ordered this time was a bit of a disappointment. The center was still cold. Despite that, I was able to enjoy my lunch slowly!

This is a review of a shop adjacent to the hotel where the reviewer stayed. The shop is run by Shinshindo, located on the first floor of the hotel. There is an eat-in space, and if you choose a plan with breakfast included, you can have breakfast here. On the second day, when the reviewer had separate plans from their friends, they couldn't use the eat-in space. Instead, they bought take-out sandwiches from the shop to eat in their room. The sandwich set included mixed sandwich, egg sandwich, potato salad and ham, ham with cucumber and tomato, costing around 600 yen. The reviewer thought the price was a bit high for what was offered. The fillings were simple and traditional, suitable for anyone's taste. The reviewer also bought a lemon cake, which they love, and found it delicious. They would like to visit again for the lemon cake. Overall, the reviewer rated the shop as 2 out of 5 stars in terms of ease of reservation and revisit.

There is a restaurant with a bakery selling Shinshindo bread. The restaurant seems to be affiliated with Shinshindo. Looking at the menu, it seems like a place to enjoy a meal with alcohol. I had a lunch there last October for under 1000 yen, which was quite reasonable. I am staying at Karasuma Kyoto Hotel next door for the next 3 days, so I bought a curry bun and a raisin butter toast as a snack to take back to the hotel. The curry bun was large and filled with curry, while the raisin butter toast had a crispy and crunchy texture.

I visited Brasserie Le Bon Vivre, which I had been curious about for a while. I thought it was a bakery, but it seems to be a branch of Shinshindo. The inside of the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere that makes you feel like you're in Europe. However, it was a bit noisy and bustling. I wish it was a bit quieter and more calming so I could enjoy the beautiful interior. This time, I ordered the afternoon tea. You can order without a reservation. It was reasonably priced at 2,000 yen compared to hotel afternoon teas. However, the portions were a bit small. The bottom tier had croissant sandwiches, which were delicious. The middle tier had scones with clotted cream and jam. The top tier had cakes, canelés, and jelly, all of which were tasty. If the restaurant was a bit quieter, I would consider visiting again.

This is a restaurant located on the first floor of the hotel where Mr. Shinshindo is staying. During lunchtime, all the customers on this day were foreigners. The Ash Burger with 100% ground beef patty, French fries, and a drink for 1500 yen! The burger is made with a patty of 100% beef, onions, tomatoes, and buns, allowing you to enjoy the hearty taste of the meat as you bite into it. It felt like being overseas with different languages being spoken around. I quietly enjoyed my meal alone. They also sell Shinshindo's bread at the register.

The first floor of the hotel seemed to attract a lot of foreigners, especially Europeans, which was surprising. It felt like being in a Parisian café (although I've never been to one). Since it's a store by Shinshindo, the complimentary bread was delicious as expected, and the tartine I ordered was also tasty. I ended up eating too much of the complimentary bread, so I couldn't order much food. The variety of dishes on the menu was decent, all of which seemed to pair well with wine. Next time, I'll try to resist the bread a bit and order more dishes. (laughs)
