In November 2021, during a stroll in Kyoto in autumn, I visited Rurikoin to admire the autumn leaves, then took the Eizan Electric Railway back to Demachiyanagi. After visiting Shimogamo Shrine, I stopped by "Saba Kaido Hanaori" to buy mackerel sushi, but I discovered a newly opened patisserie nearby called "Patisserie AVECAMOUR" and decided to take a look inside. The simple gray exterior, surrounded by congratulatory flowers, gave off an atmosphere that seemed to promise delicious sweets. The interior was relatively small but had a nice ambiance, and the customer service was very polite. Although there were only a few cakes left, I decided to buy some baked sweets that would keep well since I had been eating around that day. I bought one of each of the following: - Shimogamo Banana (420 yen) - Galette Bretonne (400 yen) - Mini Basque Tart (500 yen) - Madeleine (300 yen) The next day, I tried them. The Galette Bretonne had a great texture and the rich flavor of butter spread in my mouth, providing a consistently delicious taste. The Shimogamo Banana had a solid banana-flavored dough with hazelnuts and rum, making it quite small but very delicious. The Madeleine also had a moist texture and a nice lemon flavor. My personal favorite was the Mini Basque Tart, as the tart dough alone was delicious, but the homemade plum jam added a tangy accent that I really enjoyed. Thank you for the meal! Next time I head towards Demachiyanagi, I definitely want to try their cakes as well.

I was attracted to the lovely appearance and the meticulous work of the sweets, so I decided to purchase them. I like Rocher, but the Rocher here (1,450 yen) did not harden completely even when refrigerated, and it was sticky and got on my hands. Also, I thought Rocher used a lot of nuts, but besides walnuts and almonds, there was a lot of wheat flour and almond powder in the dough. The Cakes Citron (2 pieces for 600 yen) had a strong fragrance of artificial flavoring and a strange acidity, which I later found out was due to a considerable amount of flavoring and citric acid added. The Madeleine Pistachio (440 yen) did not have any concerning additives and tasted quite delicious. The most delicious item was the Chocolate Sablé (1 piece for 400 yen). The texture and the balance of butter and chocolate were excellent, making me want to eat more. This might be their specialty item. It was a bit disappointing that despite the high prices and the emphasis on quality ingredients, they used a lot of refined oils and artificial flavorings, and also did not provide ice packs for refrigerated items like Rocher. The Chocolate Sablé was delicious.

I purchased four items: "Shimogamo Butter Sand" for 500 yen, "Shimogamo Banana" for 420 yen, "Dacco Waffles" for 400 yen, and "Galette Bretonne" for 440 yen. The Butter Sand had a crunchy cookie with smooth buttercream and rum raisins inside. It was delicious!

On May 21, 2023, around 10:30 a.m., I visited the bakery when it had just opened, so the cake display was not fully stocked yet. I asked verbally and chose a shortcake and a madeleine. I brought them home and enjoyed them with coffee with my wife. The shortcake had delicious cream, and the madeleine had a nice nutty aroma. Personally, I preferred the madeleine. Both cakes were traditional and classic in taste. I'm looking forward to trying the cream puff next time.

I saw someone enjoying a delicious looking cream puff as we passed by on the street, so I looked it up on Google Maps and found the shop. It was very stylish and lovely. I bought the cream puff I had my eye on, and it was filled with creamy goodness. I enjoyed it very much and would like to go back again, this time to try their cakes.

I decided to cross the Kamogawa River and walk north on Shimogamo Hon-dori. As I was walking, I came across a charming patisserie with a chic atmosphere that I hadn't noticed last time I was in this area. My husband suggested, "You seem interested. Why don't we go in?" Yes, he knows me well (laughs). We stopped by the small shop, which had a simple yet lovely interior. The male owner and pastry chef was managing the shop alone. We tried the Galette, Financier, and Shimogamo Butter Sandwich. Since the Shimogamo Butter Sandwich needed to be refrigerated, we enjoyed it during our stroll. The sandwich had a thick cookie dough with plenty of buttercream. The buttercream had rum-soaked raisins, and the aroma of rum was prominent. It was quite large and satisfying on its own. It cost 500 yen each. We enjoyed the Financier and Galette at home with our daughter. The Galette had a thick and firm texture, with a hint of rum. The Financier had a buttery and fluffy texture. I don't remember the exact prices of the Galette and Financier, but they were both over 400 yen. The total for four baked goods was around 2,000 yen, which I found to be quite expensive. I wanted to try packaged cookies as well, but I hesitated due to the prices. Before writing this review, I read a review on MyRebi that said, "The taste is top-notch, but the prices are quite high compared to other places in the city. Be careful not to overspend." I agree. I didn't consider taking the cakes with me this time, but trying items like pudding (350 yen) or cream puffs might have given a different impression. Thank you for the meal~.

The chef patissier from Granvia Osaka has opened a store in Shimogamo where you can finally purchase fresh cakes. The walls inside the store are lined with many awards from pastry contests, despite being so young, which is impressive. Since it was just after a break, the variety of fresh cakes was limited. The Gateau Chocolat had a rich chocolate base that was dense and best eaten by cutting with a fork. It had a mature taste. The Gateau Fromage had a rich cheese aroma and a light texture that was irresistible. It was one of the top 3 cheesecakes this year. I also bought some baked goods like Financier, Galette Bretonne, and Madeleine. Each item had a focus on butter and salt. The most memorable was the Madeleine with a refreshing lemon flavor. The taste was top-notch. However, the prices are on the higher side compared to other places in the city, so be careful not to overspend. The owner, who is also the chef patissier, seemed to be handling everything alone, even the sales. Due to this, they take a lunch break from 12pm to 1pm, so please take note.

I was guided to a new shop that had opened up. Although I am trying to cut back on sweet treats, I decided to go in and take a look. Next to the famous mackerel sushi shop in Shimogamo, I peered into the small shop window and saw beautifully and carefully crafted cakes. Among them, I spotted a Mont Blanc cake. I just had to buy it! This must be the sixth one I've had this fall, and I plan to keep enjoying them. I paired the Mont Blanc with some tea that I received from Meloche, and it was a perfect match. The chestnut part of the Mont Blanc was firm, the cream inside was not too sweet but just right, and there was a crunchy biscuit at the bottom, topped with chocolate. I was delighted. Although the selection of cakes was small, they all looked delicious and well-made. I often pass by this street, so I think I'll try the cream puffs next time.

I found out about a new patisserie and went there with a friend. The shop was small but had a lovely display of cakes. I chose Gâteau Frais (660 yen), Crème Caramel (350 yen), Gâteau Chocolat (660 yen), and Shimogamo Butter Sandwich (500 yen). My friend, who said she was just looking, ended up buying Mont Blanc. Whenever I visit a new shop, I always get a strawberry shortcake to take home. I tried the Gâteau Frais and it was delicious, with a perfect balance of sweetness and softness. The other three cakes were also tasty and disappeared quickly. The staff were friendly and I thought it was a great patisserie.

I ate a chocolate cake that was moist and rich, so delicious that it stuck in my throat without a drink. The baked goods had a nice balance of sweetness and were delicious.

I went to the Eat-in event at JR Kyoto Isetan for the daily dessert special, where various patisseries and sweets were gathered. I visited AVEC AMOUR in Demachiyanagi, which usually does not offer an Eat-in option. The course consisted of three dishes. The first dish was olive oil ice cream drizzled with olive oil and topped with mascarpone cream, which I particularly enjoyed. The second dish was the main course, a pastry tube filled with cream and various flavors like cookie dough and strawberry Bavarian cream. The pistachio cream was a bit overwhelming for those who do not like pistachios. Lastly, there was a coffee and a small baked good, possibly a popular cherry blossom-flavored butter sandwich. The baked good was small but delicious, with a crispy texture and a hint of saltiness. Among the many options, I chose this one because it was a weekday and offered a variety of dishes. Additionally, I heard that the restaurant usually does not offer an Eat-in option. I seem to prefer dessert courses, as seen from my previous experiences. The coconut flavor of the thin baked good paired well with the coffee.
