Reservation required popular Chinese restaurant in Hiroo, JASMINE, which I've been wanting to go to for a long time since meeting in January. Dinner with friends I haven't seen in a while. Chef's recommendation, today's 4 kinds of appetizers platter. JASMINE's specialty "drooling chicken," steamed chicken with special fragrant chili oil, and chilled jellyfish with aged black vinegar aroma were delicious. The homemade pan-fried dumplings were amazing, especially when dipped in the special chili oil from the "drooling chicken." The ripe tomato and fluffy scrambled eggs were a familiar dish made at home, but the professional touch made it even better. The prawns and avocado fritters with orange mayonnaise sauce were delightful, with a sweet and refreshing tanginess. The pork and root vegetable sweet and sour pork with mashed potatoes had a shiny glaze and a tender meat texture with a satisfying crunch from the vegetables. The mapo tofu with freshly ground Sichuan peppercorns had a wonderful aroma and a deliciously spicy kick. The seasonal greens stir-fried at high heat were a perfect match with the red wine I had that day. Overall, the lunch prices at this place are surprisingly reasonable, and I definitely want to come back for lunch as well!

I met up with a friend I hadn't seen in a while for dinner. I was in charge of choosing the restaurant, so I decided to visit "Chinese Kousai JASMINE Hiroo Main Store," a place I had been wanting to try for a while. The location is just a short walk from Hiroo Station on the Tokyo Metro, heading south on Gaien Nishi Street and then west on Meiji Street. It's located along the street just before the intersection of Hiroo 1-chome. The interior of the restaurant is not very spacious but very stylish and modern. There are a few tables and a counter. Since we had made a reservation, we were seated at a table. This time, we decided to order a la carte instead of a course. We started with a toast with a small bottle of Tsingtao beer, and then ordered the following dishes:
- Special Steamed Chicken with Spicy Oil
- Cold Jellyfish Salad with Aged Black Vinegar Flavor
The appetizers were fantastic, especially the Special Steamed Chicken with Spicy Oil, which was the restaurant's specialty. The visual presentation was unique and the taste was exquisite. The sauce made with 15 types of aromatic spices and black vinegar, topped with Chinese dates and white sesame seeds, enhanced the flavor of the tender steamed chicken beautifully.
Next, we had the following dishes:
- Steamed Shrimp Dumplings with Chives
- Braised Shark Fin in Cantonese Style
The Braised Shark Fin in Cantonese Style was as delicious as expected, with the rich flavor of the shark fin complemented by the deep taste of the Cantonese-style sauce.
For the highlights of the night, we enjoyed:
- Steamed Fresh Fish (Grouper) in Hong Kong Style
- Steamed Okinawan Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables in Cantonese Style
The Steamed Fresh Fish (Grouper) in Hong Kong Style was the highlight of the night for me. The timing of steaming and the delicate flavor of the grouper were exceptional, making me crave for more.
After Tsingtao beer, we enjoyed a bottle of "Taipai Special Selected Shaoxing Wine Aged for Ten Years" at room temperature, as Shaoxing wine is a must-have with Chinese cuisine.
To finish off the meal, we indulged in:
- Beef and Lettuce Fried Rice
- Special Five-Ingredient Sauce Yakisoba
The meal was so delicious that we couldn't resist ordering more dishes for the finale. We were truly satisfied with the night. Every dish was not only tasty but also stood out in terms of presentation and creativity. I definitely want to visit again. The total bill for two people was around 29,000 yen. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Recently, "drool chicken" has become a familiar dish at izakayas and other places. While it is delicious everywhere, there is a way to enjoy it even more. At "Chinese Kousai JASMINE" in Hiroo, you can savor the restaurant's recommended drool chicken. The "JASMINE Special Lunch Set - Drool Chicken (1,300 yen)" uses a drool chicken made with 15 kinds of spicy oils. The way it is soaked in sauce is visually stunning. The black vinegar-based sauce, sesame seeds, and acidity blend perfectly. It was the most delicious drool chicken I've ever had. The complimentary vegetable juice and soup were also delicious. For the price of 1,300 yen, this place and the food are a great deal! It's a stylish yet unpretentious Chinese restaurant. It's no wonder it's gaining popularity. I'm curious about the other menu items! I will definitely revisit, and now I'm already thinking about what to try next~

This was my first time having lunch here. I remembered how delicious it was when I had it for dinner, so I ordered the drooling chicken again. Drooling Chicken 1,300 yen, Rice, White Miso Salad, Corn Soup, Almond Tofu. The drooling chicken was perfectly steamed and moist. The sweet and sour sauce makes the rice go down smoothly - it's still delicious! The soup and white miso salad are also not to be underestimated as part of the lunch set. Everything was delicious and satisfying. Thank you for the meal.

The Sichuan-style Mapo Tofu with the fragrance of Sansho pepper is delicious. It costs 1,300 yen and comes with homemade vegetable juice, daily side dishes, rice, soup, pickles, and almond jelly. The famous "Drool Chicken" at JASMINE is also very delicious. The portion is generous and the taste is great.

Located between Ebisu and Hiroo along Meiji Street, this Chinese restaurant's specialty is definitely the "drooling chicken". The deep flavor with a variety of spices is out of this world. Personally, I think it's safe to say it's the number one drooling chicken in Tokyo.

Today I visited the Chinese restaurant JASMINE in Hiroo. JASMINE in Hiroo is a Chinese restaurant located in Hiroo, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. It is situated between Hiroo Station and Ebisu Station, and serves as the main store for the JASMINE chain, which has multiple locations throughout Tokyo. Since it is conveniently located near my home, I often casually visit for lunch. This time, I decided to order sweet and sour pork, which I don't usually eat. The dumplings were a simple but tasty dish. The sweet and sour pork had a rich black vinegar flavor, and the combination of pork and potatoes was excellent. It's great to be able to enjoy a good meal at a reasonable price for lunch. Thank you for the meal.

Drooling Chicken for 1300 yen (+ Mini Mapo Tofu for 350 yen) is a dish I enjoy regularly for lunch at a nearby Chinese restaurant. I alternate between their famous drooling chicken and their vinegar pork with root vegetables. I sometimes add on the mapo tofu depending on my mood. The steamed chicken is tender with a tangy sauce, plenty of flavorful sesame, and a good mix of eggplant, cucumber, and peanuts for texture. The mapo tofu has a strong flavor of doubanjiang and is delicious, although the level of numbing from the Sichuan peppercorns may vary and not be to everyone's taste. This restaurant was named in the Bill Goodman's 2018-2022 Top 100 Restaurants and in the 2021 list.

I visited for lunch. There were surprisingly no people waiting outside. Instead of daily specials, they had summer limited menu items. I ordered the cold tantan noodles. It had a nice level of spiciness and the tofu salad that came with it was delicious. My companion ordered the roast beef and cold tomato noodles, I think. It wasn't spicy, but the fermented tomatoes that came with it were like kimchi, so those who like spicy food might enjoy eating them together. It had a refreshing taste. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the 'Chinese Restaurant Jasmine Hiroo Main Store', which I have loved since before starting posting on Tabelog. Reservations are a must at this very popular restaurant, and on this day, it was almost full with customers coming and going. It had been about 5 years since my last visit, and my companion was also excited, just like me. The restaurant is located in a convenient location along Meiji Street, between Ebisu Station and Hiroo Station. The exterior of the restaurant looked just as nostalgic as before. As we entered the restaurant, the unique scent of a Chinese restaurant filled the air. We were seated at a calm table in the back, a 4-seater table. The course we had reserved was the "Housenka" course for 13,000 yen (tax included). We started with a beer to quench our thirst on the humid rainy day. The course included various appetizers, such as roast beef, marinated daikon with sake, and seaweed salad. The famous "drooling chicken" was flavorful with a slightly spicy kick, and the roasted pork was the most delicious. The simmered shark fin in a rich soy sauce broth was good, and the homemade Beijing duck wrapped in apple compote was crispy and flavorful. The sautéed Hokkaido abalone with XO sauce was tender and delicious. However, the cut steak of Japanese beef was disappointing as it was dry and lacked moisture. The fried rice with scallops and dried scallops was made with Jasmine rice, but it had a flavor that we didn't quite enjoy. The desserts included fresh lychee, blueberries, coconut dumplings, almond tofu with black honey, and mango pudding. We added an extra mango pudding as we were not satisfied with the course desserts.

The interior of the restaurant had a Chinese-style decor and the smell of delicious Chinese food. When I mentioned my reservation, I was promptly seated. Although we were only the second group, another party was seated right next to us shortly after, which was a bit bothersome. The food was satisfying. When I ordered the Peking duck, it came with 4 pieces, and 2 of them were served for me to wrap myself, as shown in the photo. It was beautiful to look at and enjoyable. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try the noodle rice, so I would like to order it next time if I have the chance.

I visited JASMINE, a restaurant I had been wanting to go to for over 5 years. The portions were just right, allowing me to enjoy a variety of dishes, and the flavors were impactful without being too salty. The use of nuts and sesame added a nice texture contrast. I splurged a bit on the higher-priced course, but even the lowest-priced option seems satisfying. I look forward to trying their sweet and sour pork next time.

I visited the restaurant for lunch after two weeks. I arrived on a Sunday at 12:30, expecting a long line, but surprisingly there was no one waiting outside and only two other groups inside besides us. We ordered the weekly special beef oyster stir-fry and the classic drooling chicken set meal. As always, it was delicious! Thank you for the meal today as well.

I visited for lunch. I was torn between the drool chicken and the black vinegar sweet and sour pork, but I ended up choosing the latter. The pork chunks were large, the root vegetables had a nice texture, and the black vinegar sauce was plentiful. It was a truly delicious and satisfying dish. The mini-sized mapo tofu also had a good amount of volume, leaving me full and completely satisfied with my lunch. It's a wonderful restaurant where you can enjoy delicious meals at a reasonable price.

The drool chicken was so tender!!! Lunch drool chicken set meal for 1200 yen with mini mapo tofu for 350 yen. The drool chicken was incredibly soft and had a spicy kick to it. The eggplant was also exquisite. The mapo tofu, almond tofu, and side dishes were all delicious. Thank you for the meal~

Even in this day and age, the portions are large and satisfying. I felt the generosity of the successful restaurant in the size of the dishes. You can choose courses individually, so it might be good to split the 3000 yen course. It was disappointing that there were no clams in the four appetizers. Surprisingly, the 3000 yen course had clams. The rumored drool chicken sauce is delicious indeed. The perfect balance of acidity, spiciness, and sesame in the sauce. The shrimp dumplings were delicious. The dumplings and drool chicken sauce went well together. The shark fin steamed egg custard was excellent. The gentle filling turned into a steamed egg custard. Stir-fried squid with perilla leaves. The way the squid was cut was amazing, with a great texture and flavor, combined with the sauce. The saltiness is gentle. The perilla leaves are not too overpowering. Shrimp with orange sauce. Two large shrimp tails and crispy avocado fries, coated in mayonnaise sauce. The orange flavor was not bad. Sweet and sour pork. The vinegar's acidity is not overwhelming and goes well with the soft and crispy pork. The finishing white soup noodles were delicious, with a rich chicken soup and strong thin noodles. The mapo tofu was, of course, delicious as well, just as expected. Even the mango pudding dessert was delicious, making it a very satisfying lunch.

JASMINE's specialty dish, drool chicken, costs 1,200 yen. It's always packed during lunchtime, but on this day, I was able to get in without waiting. I immediately ordered the drool chicken. The sweet and slightly spicy sauce with a rich flavor stimulated my appetite from start to finish. It was delicious.

Today marks exactly 365 days since coming to Japan, so my boyfriend and I visited a restaurant to celebrate. It was recommended by a close Japanese friend, and we had been there twice before with friends, but this was our first time dining there for dinner. We made a reservation about 3-4 days ago and opted for the Jasmine course. The saliva chicken is truly a specialty, I never get tired of it. The level of spiciness is just right in my opinion. By the way, the seaweed peanuts (didn't take a photo) were incredibly delicious! They were so good that I unconsciously ended up eating my boyfriend's portion too... The fish was very fresh and tasty! The beef flavor was also perfect. The dishes at this restaurant suit my taste surprisingly well. The dessert with the coconut flakes inside was even better than what I had in China! If I want to eat Chinese food in the future, I would definitely come back to Jasmine. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Great atmosphere! The popular menu item "Yodaredori" is the best! Not too spicy, just the right amount of heat. The sweet and sour pork may be a matter of personal preference, but the meat is tender and delicious. The mapo tofu was also tasty and made me crave white rice. There were many groups of ladies and families dining at the restaurant!

In the course menu, the saliva chicken portion is small and I want to eat more! The dim sum, dan dan noodles, and black vinegar sweet and sour pork are all delicious, but above all, the saliva chicken is too good! I always line up for lunch, but the turnover is quick so you can get in quickly!

Chuka Koso JASMINE Hiroo Main Store | Hiroo
Special vinegar pork with root vegetables in aged black vinegar
The aged black vinegar is not too overpowering, allowing the flavors of the ingredients to shine through. The pork is cooked perfectly, tender all the way through, with a rich flavor that intensifies with each bite. The pork shoulder has a nice bounce to it, with a hint of sweetness from the fat that makes you crave for more rice. The sweet potato enhances its sweetness with the black vinegar, while the root vegetables add a crunchy texture that adds a fun element to the dish. A modern twist on sweet and sour pork that perfectly suits the Hiroo area.
P.S. The pickled daikon on the table is incredibly delicious.

The cherry blossoms along Meiji Street from Hiroo to Ebisu are in full bloom. While walking and enjoying the cherry blossoms, I noticed that my favorite Chinese restaurant, JASMINE, didn't have a long line, so I decided to go in. I treated myself to the seasonal luxury lunch course "Botan" for ¥5000. For the complimentary first drink, I chose ginger ale and white peach juice. On the table, there was daikon pickles which I love, and having it readily available on the table felt luxurious. The JASMINE specialty "drooling chicken" was included in the recommended appetizer assortment, along with flower jellyfish, ice vine jelly, and soy sauce-marinated clams. Everything was delicious, especially the ice vine jelly and clams which were rare and incredibly tasty. The homemade dim sum trio included pan-fried dumplings, steamed dumplings, and shumai. The pan-fried dumplings were juicy and paired perfectly with the drooling chicken sauce. The steamed dumplings were jade dumplings with succulent shrimp wrapped in a moist skin. The shumai had a delightful texture with plenty of shrimp and shiitake mushrooms. The rich white broth simmered with shark fin and mushrooms was served with steamed egg custard, and it was delicious and comforting. The stir-fried fresh squid with blue perilla was refreshing and a nice addition to the Chinese course. The special black vinegar sweet and sour pork with root vegetables was also delicious, with taro mash as a side dish. For the main dish, I chose collagen chicken white broth noodles, which was light and satisfying. The dessert of the day was a combination of lychee tea and printed fruits. The selected Chinese tea was "Eastern Beauty Tea." The meal was filling and satisfying, although I missed having vegetable juice this time.
