The first tempura had shrimp with a lot of meat, making the shrimp seem even bigger. The sweet potato, red bell pepper, and fish cake were all very sweet. I added a second round of tempura with chicken, shrimp, and thick eggplant. The shrimp tasted great with seaweed salt. I saw the dashimaki tamago (Japanese rolled omelette) at the next table and it looked delicious, so I asked for one to be made for me. It was very voluminous and had a great texture. It wasn't on the menu, but they only charged me an extra 700 yen for it. It made me feel like I received heartfelt hospitality.

So, I decided to try this other restaurant that had also been full the last time I tried. I called them on a whim and they said it was okay for us to come if we arrived by 1:00 PM. We rushed over and arrived at 1:04 PM. Even though we were a bit late, they still let us in. The tempura, fried in white sesame oil, was crispy and light with each piece. I went to Demachiyanagi for lunch. They have two lunch sessions, one starting at 11:30 and the other at 13:00. You can choose from tempura, rolled omelette, or grilled fish set meals. I ordered the tempura set meal and while waiting, we were served appetizers. The tempura was served in two batches, hot and freshly fried. It was like a rewarding lunchtime treat for 1,200 yen.

I was invited to lunch by a friend who has an office near Demachiyanagi. They made a reservation for us at a place that seems to have availability if we go a bit later. It's at 1 pm. The tempura set meal is really good, with hot tempura served twice. The first round includes angel prawns, whiting, sweet potato, green pepper, and pumpkin. And just when we thought we were satisfied, a second round of tempura arrives! This time with prawns and eggplant, and maybe some other vegetable, possibly yam. We even get a tempura bowl with prawns at the end. The rice and miso soup were delicious, and you can even get a refill of rice. It's a place I definitely want to recommend to everyone. My friend who went with me has been there four times already, even considering adding an extra tempura dish to their set meal next time. The chef fries the tempura rhythmically, and the owner is very friendly. It's a short walk from Demachiyanagi Station, and you can even stop by a plant shop on the way back and buy some hyacinth bulbs. I placed them by a warm window, and they have already started to sprout. Walking around the Demachiyanagi delta is nice, and the Shimogamo Shrine is also nearby. I found a great restaurant!

I went to have a tempura set meal for lunch! It was even more delicious than I expected! I first tried the tempura with seaweed salt, and then made a tempura bowl... It was amazing!! Especially the tempura of white fish and eggplant was so delicious! I wanted to order more of those! The pickles were also delicious, so I wanted more rice... I wonder if I could have asked for seconds... I was nervous to enter the restaurant because it looked high-class, but the staff was very polite and provided excellent service, which was impressive! They only serve lunch for 1 hour and have limited seating, so I think reservations are essential when you go! Thank you for the meal! I will visit again at night next time!

The tempura here is exceptional, crispy and not greasy. The tempura dipping sauce is light and flavorful, with a nice dashi taste. The salt is also delicious, soft and tasty. I can't stop eating them. The small dishes like vinegar miso salad and pork belly are also well-prepared. The atmosphere created by the chef and the hostess is great, making the whole experience enjoyable. It seems like there are many regular customers, which I can understand why. I feel like coming back here often. I also want to try their lunch menu.

I visited this lovely restaurant again after they had to close temporarily due to COVID-19 prevention measures. It's a small place with only counter seats. I ordered the tempura set meal (1200 yen) which came with simmered fiddleheads, rice, red miso soup, and two plates of freshly fried tempura - shrimp, scallop, pumpkin, eggplant, and more. The tempura was crispy and delicious, especially when dipped in salt or tempura sauce. I also enjoyed turning the leftovers into a tempura rice bowl at the end. The owners were very friendly and attentive. I heard they serve tempura as the main dish with other Japanese side dishes at night. Overall, it was a great dining experience.

Great value for money! The restaurant seems to have been renovated as the interior is clean and cozy. I was pleasantly surprised by the prices and the taste of the food was amazing. I will definitely be coming back soon. I was very happy to have a lot of delicious dishes with seasonal bamboo shoots.
