buff-buff
A highly rated curry restaurant located in a residential area in Hanebiki, a short walk from Shin-Daita. The area is quiet and surrounded by greenery, with high-end rental housing like the "International Garden House" lining the streets. "Kitchen and Curry" is located in a low-rise luxury rental housing complex called "Kameko Shin." The owner, Yuki Abe, is a beautiful woman who opened the curry shop out of her love for curry. The restaurant has a curry lab and serves eat-in meals on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. I made a reservation online the day before and arrived at the restaurant. People waiting outside the restaurant were all reserved customers, and we were called in one by one. It's a small restaurant with 3 counter seats and 7 table seats. The menu offers 3 types of curry: 1. Goya and squid curry for 1200 yen, 2. Peach chicken keema curry for 1400 yen, and 3. Seasonal vegetable kootu for 1200 yen. The combination of 2 types costs 1400 yen, and 3 types cost 1600 yen, but on that day, the peach was an additional 200 yen. The curry is quite expensive. After a long wait, the 3 types of curry finally arrived. They were served on small plates, which was a bit disappointing. The curry included seasonal vegetable kootu, peach chicken keema, and goya and squid curry. The kootu curry was cooked with beans and vegetables in coconut milk, giving it a unique flavor. The peach chicken keema had a hint of mint and sautéed peaches, but the combination was not very successful. The goya and squid curry had a subtle taste, with the bitterness of the goya coming through. The rice was a blend of Aomori's Goban rice, which had a firm texture that complemented the curry well. Despite the delicious flavors, the curries were surprisingly light and mild. The owner aims to create a curry that can be enjoyed every day, like miso soup, with a focus on seasonal ingredients and new discoveries. Although I was expecting a more boldly spiced curry, the subtle flavors were still enjoyable.
