On a Saturday afternoon, I joined a line of about 10 people waiting outside the restaurant. The line moved quickly and soon I was inside. Since I had ramen last time, I decided to try their specialty dipping noodles. The wait inside was about 14 people. There were quite a few foreigners, which was nice to see them enjoying Japanese ramen culture. The staff were used to it and were communicating in English. After about 20 minutes of waiting, I was seated. I had already purchased my meal ticket, so my noodles arrived promptly. The smooth and chewy noodles were delicious on their own. The dipping sauce was rich with a strong chicken flavor. When you dip the noodles in, it clings to them nicely. There were plenty of thinly sliced chashu pork pieces, surprisingly lots of toppings. It was satisfying to eat. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal.

Arrived at the restaurant around 11:03. There were about 20 people waiting inside and outside, but we were seated in about 15 minutes due to the fast turnover. I ordered the special tsukemen with extra noodles for ¥1,150. I had already purchased my meal ticket in advance, so it was served shortly after being seated. The noodles were medium-thick and had a good texture, paired with a rich dipping sauce. It had a classic tsukemen flavor. Even with the large portion, I finished it quickly. I ended the meal by adding broth to the remaining sauce. Despite the line, the process was surprisingly smooth. I left before 11:40 and there was already a line of about 30 people outside. There were many foreign customers as well.

I visited the restaurant last month on a Sunday afternoon just before closing time, but was disappointed to see the closed sign already up. This time, I arrived at 1pm and joined the line. After about 30 minutes, I entered and purchased a ticket for their special ramen at the back counter. The turnover of customers was quick, and the service was fast. Most people ordered the tsukemen, which is why the meal was finished quickly. Everything went smoothly. Although the restaurant is known for its tsukemen, I prefer to enjoy the soup with the noodles, so I ordered ramen instead. The chicken white broth with dried fish soup was quite rich. Having tried milder fish broth ramen in Osaka, I found this soup a bit heavy. The restaurant was filled with young Asian tourists, who may enjoy the unique taste. Next time, I will try the tsukemen.

During the weekend, when I went to Tokyo to see a play, I visited this restaurant nearby the theater with high ratings on Tabelog. As expected, there was a line in front of the restaurant... I thought it was just a few people, but the line extended all the way to the park across the road. However, since it was lunchtime ramen, the turnover was good and I was able to enter without much stress. About 90% of the customers seemed to be eating tsukemen, but I had decided to have ramen, so I stuck to it. The special ramen in large portion was delicious.

The soup was rich!! I went on Wednesday night around 6:50 pm. There were 14 people waiting in line outside the store, and it took about 50 minutes from the time I started lining up until the food arrived! Not only the line outside the store, but also after buying a meal ticket inside the store, there were about 10 people waiting in line behind the seats, so I think there were about 25 people in line when I started. I ordered tsukemen. Personally, I wish the soup was a little hotter! Maybe it was a bit cold? However, the taste was really delicious. The fish flavor was strong, and the fish powder was very good. Also, the chashu and menma were full of ingredients, and I thought it was amazing. There were a lot of foreigners, but it seemed like those who ordered tsukemen were quite satisfied. Next time, I want to try the ramen. It was delicious!

Holiday, around 12 people lined up at 12:00. Seated at 12:20. When leaving the restaurant at 12:40, there was a line of about 30 people. The special dipping noodles cost 1,150 yen for a regular serving, with a rich double soup of seafood and ultra-rich chicken broth, smooth and chewy medium-thick noodles made from wheat, and a high quality of noodles, soup, and ingredients. There are many foreigners. My favorite dipping noodles in Tokyo. Ramen Tokyo's Top 100 Shops 2022 [Rating Criteria] - 4.5~: Impressed!!! Amazing!!! - 4.0~4.4: Very satisfied!!! Will definitely go back!!! - 3.5~3.9: Liked it! Would go back! - 3.1~3.4: Average_Might go back? - ~3.0: Not recommended.

【Evaluation】Want to go again【Recommendation】Tsukemen with extra noodles【Impression】Visited on a Sunday. It looked quite crowded, but the turnover of customers was very efficient and we were able to get in after about 30 minutes! I ordered the extra noodles for free, so I got the large portion! The portion size was just right for me to finish, so I will order the large portion again next time. The taste was rich and flavorful, which I love in a fish-based tsukemen! I definitely want to come back here!! No need for rice!

I stopped by because there was no line at 7:00 PM on Saturday, so I decided to visit after a long time. The staff had changed since my last visit. I usually order tsukemen, but today I decided to try the ramen. I always regret getting the large size, but when asked, I always end up saying yes to the large size. As usual, a line forms quickly behind me, so I eat quickly. Personally, I prefer having soup, so I might like ramen more. But for first-timers, I think they should try the tsukemen because the noodles are different. Tsukemen is prepared in advance and the turnover rate is good, so it doesn't look as crowded as it seems.

On Saturday around 8 pm, there was a line from inside the restaurant to outside, but I was able to eat in about 20-30 minutes. There were many foreigners. The noodles came in a large portion for free. I ordered the special tsukemen. The taste was rich and flavorful. There were plenty of toppings, but I didn't feel like it was worth waiting in line for.

I went to "Fuunji Shinjuku Main Store" in Shinjuku. Fuunji is a popular tsukemen restaurant with three locations in Tokyo, ranked in the top 100 on Tabelog from 2018 to 2022. It has a Tabelog rating of 3.78 and is a very popular restaurant. *As of September 14, 2023. Originally, I was planning to go to "Udon Shin" nearby, but I gave up because the wait was over 2 hours. As a last resort, I decided to go to Fuunji, which always has long lines, but surprisingly there was no line outside so I decided to go in. I went around 7 pm on a weekday and there were about 5 people waiting inside. The turnover rate is fast, so I was able to sit down in about 10 minutes. I ordered the Special Tsukemen for 1150 yen*with less noodles. The noodles were thick with a strong chewy texture, which I personally liked. The soup, despite its appearance, was rich but light. Many tsukemen places are too salty, but this one was not salty at all, which was a good impression. It had fish powder on top, and as you gradually dissolved it, the seafood flavor came through subtly. The toppings included nori, green onions, chashu, menma, and egg. The chashu was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and there was a generous amount of it along with the menma. I added some soup wari (soup dilution) using the provided vinegar, and even then, the soup was not too strong, so it was enjoyable to drink with a light taste. I had imagined it would be much richer, so it was surprising that it was not, making it suitable even for those who don't like heavy tsukemen. However, it may have lacked a bit of impact. If I had waited for hours, my expectations might not have been met. But it was delicious. Although there is always a long line, maybe evenings are a good time to visit? I recommend this place to those who want to eat tsukemen in Shinjuku.

Visited Fuunji for the second time. Even before opening, there was already a line. More than half of the customers were from overseas. It's a world-famous ramen shop. Waited about 15 minutes and got in. This time, I ordered the special tsukemen with extra noodles. The operation of the shop was good, and the dipping sauce made from seafood and chicken broth was delicious with smooth and chewy noodles. The chashu was also tasty and tender. Finally, they offered a soup refill using the broth at the counter.

I arrived in Shinjuku around 2 o'clock to head to a client meeting, and decided to have lunch before that. Since it's Shinjuku, I thought there would be many famous restaurants, so I searched on Tabelog and two ramen shops came up, and I was intrigued by the name "Furumonji" so I decided to go to this shop. I got off at Shinjuku South Exit and walked towards Hatsudai on the Keio Line. It's about a 10-minute walk. It was surprisingly far. I turned left and tried to find the shop, but couldn't find it easily. It seemed like I had passed it once, so I went back and finally found it. I had to go down a bit underground to find it. There were already three people waiting in line. It was impressive for 2 o'clock. Even after I entered, more and more customers kept coming, so it was constantly busy. I waited for about 5 minutes. I hesitated when buying the food ticket, but I chose the tsukemen. When the staff asked me if I wanted regular or large size, I chose the large. I waited inside the shop for about 5 minutes. Finally, I was able to sit down. However, I didn't like standing behind someone while eating, so maybe waiting inside the shop is not a good idea. After a while, the large portion of noodles was served. But the dipping sauce took a while to arrive. I thought the noodles would get soggy. After about 5 minutes, the dipping sauce finally arrived. I felt a bit demotivated just by that delay. Finally, I started eating the tsukemen. It was indeed delicious. The typical fishy taste of the broth wasn't too strong, and I enjoyed it. However, as I wrote in my comments, I did start to get a bit tired of it towards the end. I finished the whole dish. I was expecting some soup refills, but it didn't seem to be the custom here. Maybe the pot on the table was for that purpose, which I realized later. Since no one around me mentioned asking for soup refills, it was probably the pot for that purpose. I regret not knowing about it. Overall, I felt the service was a bit unfriendly, even though the staff were polite. Personally, I don't think I need to come back here. It's crowded, and the dining experience was not exceptional. I probably won't visit for a while.

Tsukemen with egg for 1,100 yen. It was rich but not too heavy, so it was easier to eat than I expected! You can get a free extra-large portion of noodles. The photo shows a regular portion. The only greasy thing was the floor... haha. By 11:30, there was already a line! I waited 35 minutes to get in. If it's not too crowded, I'd like to eat here again! Maybe next time I'll try the ramen when it gets colder.

I arrived around 10:58 am. There was already a line extending to the back of the park. As everyone said, there were many foreigners. The store opened, and we were able to enter fairly quickly. Lucky!! I ordered the special tsukemen in regular size. It was so delicious, I should have gotten the large size. Haha.

The famous ramen shop we visited had a waiting time of about 40 minutes. It seemed like more than half of the customers were foreigners. The tsukemen was super delicious. Despite having to eat with someone standing right behind me, it's understandable given how delicious the food is at this shop.

I heard about Furinkoji at work and realized it had been years since I last went there. I decided to visit again after a long time. There were about 10 people in line, but the turnover was quick. I joined the line at the back. I was seated after about 15 minutes. The tsukemen at Furinkoji, after a long time. Still delicious. Recently, there have been many rich tsukemen using a lot of fish powder, but I still think this shop's tsukemen is the best and most delicious. It's delicious. There have been various changes in tsukemen, but I sometimes feel like coming back here. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!!

Today's lunch was at "Funoji Shinjuku Main Store". We bought food tickets and waited in line for about 5 people ahead of us. Since there were two of us, they asked if we wanted to order separately or together, and we chose to order together. We were seated after the person behind us was guided to their table. We ordered the special dipping noodles for 1,150 yen. The noodles were on the thinner side and slipped smoothly. The soup was very rich. It's the type of soup that some people may love or hate. We finished the noodles quickly by mixing them with the rich soup. Overall, it wasn't a place that we absolutely must visit again.

Arrived at the restaurant before the evening opening time of 17:00 without knowing the business hours, around 16:40. No line was present. Killed time at a nearby Starbucks and arrived back at 16:59. There were about 10 people waiting for the opening, but I was able to enter after the first round. Ordered the special dipping noodles with toppings including seaweed, chashu, menma, green onions, and seasoned egg. The flavor was rich but not too heavy. It was very delicious.

I visited around 1 pm on a regular day. Since it was lunchtime, I was able to enter the shop quickly without waiting in line. I ordered tsukemen and flavored egg at the ticket machine and handed the ticket to the counter. I asked for a large portion when handing over the ticket and drank the water on the table. The food arrived in about 3 minutes. Although it was a large portion, it didn't look that big visually. The thick noodles go well with the dipping soup and have a slightly fishy aroma, but it's not overpowering and well-balanced. The toppings included a moderate amount of chashu and menma. I remember it having a more impactful taste in the past, but nowadays there are many similar-tasting places, some of which have a stronger broth flavor. I found this place to have a stable and ordinary taste. There was no unpleasant smell even in the broth, and I enjoyed it all. Perhaps my taste buds have changed? The impact of the taste seems to have decreased from the past. Nevertheless, it is still a reliable tsukemen shop where you can eat with peace of mind.
