This is a shop located on the 1st floor of the SUINA Roomachi in the Kyoto Economic Center Building. It is a shop that specializes in dumplings and simmered dishes, as well as a sushi restaurant, with separate curtains for each. I entered through the curtain for dumplings and simmered dishes, but the interior of the shop was connected, allowing customers to order from both sides. The shop had a clean and cozy atmosphere with a wooden counter and a few table seats, and it was filled with foreign customers. I ordered the specialty Roomachi dumplings, beef tendon simmered dish, and a little bit of sushi. The beef tendon simmered dish was sweet and gentle in flavor, and I regretted not trying it with shichimi spice after finishing it. The Roomachi dumplings were small with thin skin and tasted decent, but nothing extraordinary. The sushi was also decent in taste, but considering the price, it felt a bit lacking. The biggest mystery of this shop was the person sitting next to me at the counter, who appeared to be Chinese but might actually be Japanese? That remains unsolved as I left the shop. An izakaya on the first floor of SUINA, offering sushi and gyoza. I ordered 3 pieces of salmon sushi for 1350 yen, 3 pieces of medium fatty tuna for 2100 yen, and a gyoza-only seat for 1650 yen. The gyoza, simmered dish, and fried set meal cost 1600 yen. Located in a prime location at Shijo-Karasuma, the place feels quite expensive due to the high rent.

I was drawn to the name of the restaurant, "Gyoza and Simmered Fish Sushi Shin," and decided to dine there. The restaurant offers both gyoza and simmered dishes, as well as sushi, although they are separate establishments. However, you can order from both menus. The gyoza were slightly larger than a bite-size, served with two types of sauce - a refreshing sauce and a rich miso sauce. The simmered dish had a slightly sweet flavor and was delicious. I highly recommend trying the shrimp gyoza with whole shrimp inside - it's incredibly tasty! The only downside was that the service seemed a bit careless.

Gyoza and beer are the best! I also feel like having sushi, so I went with a friend. I made a reservation at a place I was curious about. We entered from inside the Ogaki bookstore, and even though it was 7:00 pm, there were only two other customers, so I wondered if we needed a reservation. We were seated at a table, although we could have sat at the counter. We had: Caesar salad, chilled tomatoes (which we mistakenly called chilled gyoza and got laughed at), gyoza (one bite gyoza and large shrimp gyoza), sushi (we ordered maguro tuna, scallops, sea urchin, and amberjack written on paper), miso soup x2, and drinks (3 draft beers and 2 plum sours). The food was delicious and the atmosphere was okay, so it's a casual place you can enjoy. Note that the restroom is outside the restaurant (at the back of the bookstore).

I used it for a quick meal on a Sunday afternoon in the city. I had limited time between work, but looking at the menu, I ordered the delicious simmered rice bowl and water dumplings set. The bowl had a rich flavor, and the dumplings were juicy, making it a great combination that I enjoyed until the last minute. I will use it again for lunch.

There is a sushi restaurant and a dumplings & simmered dish shop next to each other. Both are owned by Leaf, but they have completely different atmospheres. The sushi restaurant has a quiet and adult-like feel, while the dumplings & simmered dish shop is lively with nostalgic background music playing. This time, I went to the sushi restaurant side. Even though you could order sushi on the dumplings & simmered dish side, it seemed like you couldn't order dumplings & simmered dishes on the sushi side. It's a great place to enjoy some appetizers and drinks, munch on some sushi, and take some home. They do a meticulous job. The sushi rice was fluffy, slightly warm, and delicious. I also liked the way the mackerel was prepared!

[Gyoza and simmered dishes/Fish market sushi Shin] When you feel like having some sushi and drinks, this is the place to go. It's a counter sushi restaurant with a limited selection of sushi toppings and side dishes, but each piece is carefully made and the freshness of the fish is great. The chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) is made to order, so you can enjoy it piping hot. They serve generous portions too. I tried several sushi items, but forgot to take photos. My go-to choices are ikura (salmon roe), scallop, turban shell, cucumber roll, burdock root roll, and a few side dishes. Lately, it's been crowded with foreign tourists. The young chef can speak English, so it's okay for first-time visitors from overseas.

My wife and I visited this restaurant together. We toasted with draft beer and ordered the premium course. We had the monkfish liver with ponzu sauce as an appetizer, and it melted in our mouths. We enjoyed a variety of sushi, and then ordered the sea urchin from Hokkaido, which was exquisite. Since it was market price, we quietly asked about the cost. Finally, we had fresh whitebait as the finishing touch, along with miso soup with mushrooms. Every dish was fresh and delicious. The manager and head chef were friendly and made it a fun time. Thank you as always.

I visited Sushi Shin in Shijo Karasuma, Kyoto. I sat at the counter and ordered various sushi such as tuna, shrimp, and scallops. The friendly chef recommended trying the fresh baby sardines, which I had never tried before. It was amazing! They also offer sushi not listed on the menu, so it's worth a visit. There is a dumpling shop attached where you can compare different flavors. I recommend trying the highball with strong carbonation for drinks.

This is in Kyoto. In Kyoto, at Shijo Karasuma. On the first floor of SUINA Muromachi, there was a very convenient shop here. It had been a while since I drank in Kyoto, so I decided to visit. The shop combines a dumpling and simmered dish restaurant with a sushi restaurant, and I wondered if you could order either menu from either counter. When I visited the sushi counter, I was told that you could only order sushi there, while at the dumpling and simmered dish counter, you could also order sushi. I wanted to try sushi, so I told the staff at the sushi counter, and they directed me to the other counter. I ordered a draft beer, dumplings, and simmered dish. I also wanted to order sushi quickly, but there were no sushi menus at the table. When I asked the staff, they brought me an order form to fill out myself. I had told them I wanted to order sushi as well, so I was a bit disappointed. I asked my friend about the sushi they wanted, filled out the order form, and handed it to the staff. However, the draft beer took a while to arrive. The dumplings were average when they arrived. The taste was okay, but the portion was not very satisfying - my friend liked it, but I was not impressed. After a while, the simmered dish arrived. I looked for chili pepper, but there was none at the table, so I asked the staff to bring some. If they have it, they should bring it with the simmered dish. I thought to myself again. Later on, the sushi took a long time to arrive, and when I was about to call a staff member, they came to confirm the order. What happened to that order until then??? Eventually, the sushi was brought to us, but it was like a slightly better conveyor belt sushi. I asked for wasabi, but it didn't have much flavor, and it was quite disappointing. We quickly finished the sushi and moved on to the next shop.

I was drawn to this place and originally planned to go to a different restaurant, but suddenly changed my mind. When I arrived at the restaurant, I found out that even though there were separate entrances, you could order dishes from both places. In the end, I didn't even get to the sushi, but I enjoyed various things and was satisfied. I liked watching the inside of the restaurant from the counter seats. Since it is directly connected from the basement, you can access it without getting wet even in the rain.

It was located right near Karasuma Station, inside Daigaku Shoten. The simmered dishes were very delicious. The black one had daikon radish, and the white one had Chinese cabbage and onions. They were packed with plenty of vegetables. The gyoza had no garlic, so I felt fine afterwards. Next time, I want to drink beer while enjoying some drinks at night.

I have become a regular at this place. They serve delicious seasonal fish in a tasty way. The conger eel and chicken grunt were especially delicious! They also have a variety of sake and craft beers, with new ones coming in every month.

First, I visited for the gyoza lunch. There were various set meals to choose from, but I ended up ordering the standard gyoza set for the first time. On one tray, there were gyoza, two side dishes, rice, and miso soup which you can refill! The lunch gyoza seemed to have garlic removed. However, there were two types of sauce, one was vinegar and pepper, and the other was garlic soy sauce. I tried both, of course. The gyoza wasn't incredibly delicious, but it was tasty enough to be generally accepted. I would like to try other set meals as well. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I had a half day off so I decided to try the gyoza and simmered dishes that I've been curious about for a while. It was close to 12:30pm and I was able to find a seat quite easily, as it wasn't too crowded. Unfortunately, the daily lunch special was sold out, so it seems like the lunch rush here is quite early. After debating between the gyoza set meal and the two types of simmered dishes set meal, I ended up choosing the hearty option of gyoza and two types of simmered dishes set meal for 1,360 yen. I also opted for the large rice portion. The gyoza were the classic garlic-free kind, and the two simmered dishes were beef tendon simmered and salted pork belly simmered. The set meal also included salad, miso soup, pickles, and two side dishes - chicken salad with mayo and braised burdock. The gyoza were bite-sized and I wished there were more. The beef tendon simmered dish had a rich flavor that was not too overpowering. Personally, I preferred the salted pork belly simmered dish. The sweet fat of the pork belly combined with the vegetables cooked together created a delicious taste. It would be perfect to enjoy with some drinks in the evening. If I had to mention one thing, it would be nice to have a water pitcher available so we don't have to bother the staff for refills. Hopefully, I can try the daily special next time. I have been coming to this restaurant almost every day for a year now, and today I had a great time chatting with the customers while enjoying some sake. The sushi was delicious as always, with fresh seasonal fish being served. The manager was friendly and made the atmosphere very enjoyable. I will definitely be going back!

The crispy dumplings here near Shijo Station are juicy inside too. Surprisingly, the Chinese food in Kyoto is of a high level. There are two types of simmered dishes, white and black. The black one is a rich Nagoya-style simmered dish, which is delicious. The white one is a refreshing dish with a lemony acidity. It definitely goes well with beer. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I went to drink in Karasuma. I had dumplings and simmered dishes at a restaurant inside a bookstore. I forgot to take a picture of the dumplings. I ate all types - grilled, boiled, and fried - and they were delicious. The simmered dish was a tendon and beef stew. It was hot, but tasty. You can order it next to the sushi restaurant, but I forgot to order it. I might order it next time.

Nishiki Market has its main store (currently operating in a different format). I have used it several times because it is reasonable. This time, I stopped by with my colleagues after work and had a seafood bowl. They said they could add other fish if available that day. I was impressed by the size of the shrimp in the middle. The overall balance was good, and it was delicious and reassuring to eat anytime. The chikuwa tempura that caught my eye was also delicious. The staff was friendly, and it was a fun meal. I plan to go eat dumplings next week.
