Just eating ramen is popular, and the delicious ramen at Mochi Mochi Tsuru Tsuru is a hit. You can even experience making noodles! I tried the Special Muso Kokoro Ramen for 1600 yen. When you enter the restaurant, there is a vending machine on the right where you can select and purchase your ramen before sitting at the counter or a table. They also have set menus like rice sets and toppings such as fried chicken. The noodles are large and I like them, the chashu is tender and delicious, and the rich soup is tasty! The noodles are chewy and smooth!

I had a noodle-making experience in Gion Shijo, Kyoto \(^o^)/ After the experience, I enjoyed delicious ramen here. This is Musou Shin Ramen, which has even received a Michelin star in Toronto. I tried the special ramen for 1,600 yen, which came with plenty of menma, chashu, and even a half-boiled egg on top. The homemade noodles had a nice firmness, and the thick soup was amazing! It was a taste that I really liked. ❤️

[Date] January 30, 2023 (Monday) 12:00 PM [Foodlog Rating] 3.29 [Waiting Time] None [Service] Excellent [Would Visit Again] Yes [Payment Method] Cash [Turnover] Moderate [Dish] Regular flat noodles [Toppings] Pork chashu (2 slices), pork chunks (2 pieces), chopped green onions, menma [Soup] Chicken and pork bone (vegetable potage) [Preparation Time] 2 minutes The noodles were chewy and had a thick, rich soup without any unpleasant odors. However, if you're expecting a heavy flavor, it might be a bit lacking. The chashu was tender, and the chunks were flavorful, making them a good match with rice. The Sansho pepper in the customizing set was quite good! It was delicious. [Mentaiko Rice Set] [Toppings] Mentaiko, chopped seaweed, chopped green onions [Preparation Time] 1 minute Served with kimchi on a separate plate. The kimchi was light and refreshing. It might be a waste to have it with the mentaiko rice, so I paired it with plain rice instead. The mentaiko rice was just delicious. Mentaiko Rice Set 1,200 yen

During the break with my part-time job colleagues, we went to a ramen shop. There were a lot of people from Kyoto, but this shop, located slightly away from the bustling area, was a bit quiet. Last time, I tried the limited edition black ramen in Gion, but this time I had the classic Musou Shin ramen for the first time. The extra noodle refill was only 10 yen, and you could get it twice per person. The soup was slightly thick, and the thick bamboo shoots and tender chashu were distinctive. I especially liked the "black shichimi" seasoning on the table. It was a delicious meal!

Today, I came to Kyoto with my folding bike (DAHON k3) on the Shinkansen. My purpose is to take pictures of the Pokemon manhole covers, as well as to receive a scroll with a verse for the Saigoku Pilgrimage. I decided to visit before the crowds of Golden Week and have been avoiding eating out due to the crowds in Kyoto. However, today I decided to try a local restaurant. After asking around, I settled on a ramen shop recommended by a passerby. I ordered the popular Muso Shin ramen, which was a rich and creamy pork bone broth with perfectly cooked seasoned eggs. The flat noodles were thin and easy to eat, and the tender chashu pork and large bamboo shoots were delicious. Although I wish there were more bamboo shoots, overall the meal was satisfying. I can see why this place is confident in their food. I look forward to trying their tsukemen next time.

Fasting for 30 hours and breaking it with a meal after work is always delicious. On a Saturday afternoon, I tried a black sesame paste ramen with added black sesame. It was completely black in color and topped with green onions, shredded red pepper, thick bamboo shoots, seasoned egg, seaweed, and chashu. The soup was slightly thick and the noodles were firm. There were plenty of spices on the table for flavor variations. The strong black sesame flavor made it feel like a different dish from regular ramen. However, it was a bit different from the usual salty taste of ramen that I'm used to. I probably won't order it again, but I'll try a different ramen next time. Thank you for the meal!

If it had been 1000 yen, I probably wouldn't have felt this way, but at 1300 yen, I feel like I wasted my money. I thought maybe I shouldn't have gone in after looking at Tabelog, but I was drawn in by the smell of tonkotsu coming from the restaurant. Upon entering, I felt uneasy seeing the Special for 1300 yen on the vending machine to the left. Still, I ordered the Special. When it arrived, my anxiety eased a bit. It looked pretty good. Then I took a sip of the soup. Huh? Another sip. Hmm. It's thin. There's no richness or flavor of tonkotsu at all. What is this ramen? It's nothing like tonkotsu. Smell deception, maybe unintentional. Not what I expected. The soup isn't good. I tried adding doubanjiang, but the doubanjiang is good, not the soup. The noodles and bamboo shoots were okay. The noodles were pretty ordinary but somehow tasty. The bamboo shoots had a gentle flavor, which was nice. The beef tendons were just average. There was plenty of chashu, but it was a bit smelly. I would have preferred if the soup had been smelly instead. Why is the chashu smelly? The green onions weren't sweet at all. I don't know about tourist spot prices, but being forced to pay 1300 yen for this is infuriating. This is a warning to others, and I rate it below 3 points. I wouldn't want to pay over 800 yen to eat this. Even with plenty of ingredients, this is unforgivable.

I visited the restaurant for lunch on Thursday, February 24, 2022, and the place was empty. I purchased a ticket at the ticket machine. I chose the dish called "Musou Shin." I couldn't tell what it was just by the name. The soup seemed rich but was actually light. The noodles were medium-thick and the overall taste was light. It was easy to eat, but it had a strange feeling. Even though I was full, I felt like I could still eat more. The black shichimi on the table was nice and reminded me of Kyoto.

I used to live nearby and happened to find this place while walking down memory lane. It's located on the left side after entering the side street of Kennin-ji Temple. I was excited for my first Kyoto ramen in a long time. Sitting at the counter, I noticed stickers of maiko (apprentice geisha) inside the restaurant, making me wonder if they come here on their days off. Finally, my ramen arrived. The soup was a rich blend of chicken and pork, with a thick texture and no strong animal smell. It coated the homemade noodles well, and the Kyoto green onions added a nice touch. It felt like this is what Kyoto ramen should taste like! The chashu pork was okay, but surprisingly, the thick menma bamboo shoots were delicious. I look forward to trying something different next time.

First visit. I was drawn to the black dipping noodles on the menu. When it was served, I was shocked. The soup was pitch black. It had a black sesame and tangy dipping sauce. The noodles were thin. Personally, I prefer thick noodles for dipping noodles. I will refrain from giving my opinion. I do not recommend it.

It has been almost two years since my last visit. Thanks to COVID-19, the streets of Kyoto are empty, and the same goes for the restaurants. As someone who hates waiting in line, I am happy to see the place almost empty. I apologize to the owner for not ordering the "Gion Black Soba" and instead paying directly with PayPay. The toppings I chose were char siu, boiled egg, bamboo shoots, roasted seaweed, and green onions. The soup is made with plenty of Gion Murata's black sesame, giving it a strong black sesame flavor. Despite its striking appearance, the soup is surprisingly light, enhanced by the use of Gion Haru Ryokaku's black seven spice. The noodles are black because they absorb the soup, and it seems that black vinegar is also used in the soup. When we think of ramen, we often imagine something unhealthy, but this bowl, with its generous use of black sesame, makes me feel like I'm getting healthier with every bite.

I'm in Gion, Kyoto. Let's see, what should I eat? I searched online and found a few options that caught my eye. Let's decide where to go. I found a ramen place nearby that looks decent. So, as usual, I walked there. When I arrived at the restaurant, the menu was in English. Hmm, maybe they cater to foreigners? Inside, there were only foreigners, mostly Chinese. These kinds of places... I had a bad feeling. I ordered the tsukemen, but the noodles were not like the ones used in ramen. The dipping sauce was also not great. It was a total miss. Oh well, let's eat quickly and move on to the next place.

The water is not tasty. The overall taste is thick and rich ramen. The soup is thick and creamy. It's good for lunch, but it might be too heavy for dinner after a meal. I prefer a vegetable soup or a different kind of rich meat. Hoping for an improvement in the drinking water quality.

Musou Shin Gion Store offers extremely spicy dishes such as Black Shichimi, powdered Sansho pepper, spicy miso, white pepper, and white sesame, as well as grated garlic. The basic menu includes Musou Shin Ramen, Gion Black Soba, Tsukemen, and mixed soba, with variations available such as seasoned eggs and chashu. Extra noodles cost an additional 100 yen. Payment is done through food tickets (accepted from 1,000 yen to 10,000 yen). The restaurant has counter seats and table seats, with tissues available on the tables. It is a non-smoking establishment with no parking lot (though there are coin-operated parking lots nearby). I visited for the first time in February 2019 and tried the Musou Shin Ramen for 800 yen.

I had the most classic ramen. It was a thick and rich ramen like Tenka. It seems like this is called Kyoto-style ramen. The soup is made by simmering vegetables, and there was a description inside the restaurant. The noodles were not too thick or too thin, but somewhere in between. The chashu on top was tender and delicious.

Today, while visiting Kyoto Ebisu Shrine, I stopped by a nearby ramen shop. Muso Shin This is an authentic ramen shop with a noodle-making room inside the store. The Chashu Ramen had plenty of thick menma and chashu. It had a lot of ingredients and made a strong impression. The soup was a thick chicken-based broth. The chicken flavor stood out among the vegetable and pork bone flavors, which I personally enjoyed. The noodles were homemade flat noodles, which paired well with the soup. It was so delicious that I finished the soup completely. At the bottom of the bowl, there was the "無" mark, which is the origin of the restaurant's name! It was a bowl that I really liked. I would love to go back again.

The black sesame ramen soup made with black vinegar and other black ingredients was not to my liking as it was lukewarm and the noodles were overcooked.

I had the spicy cod roe mixed noodles. It was very delicious and I liked that I could choose the size at the same price. The bamboo shoots were thick. Next, I want to go eat ramen. It looked so delicious.
