I felt like having some grilled chicken after snacking on maple leaves. I ordered the yakitori set and yakitori hormone set. They seemed to have most items covered. I was satisfied with being able to eat Kokoronokori and Segimo. I couldn't try the Makgeolli beer that my junior ordered...

I went to see the Gion Matsuri's Gozan no Okuribi with my friends for the first time in 3 years, and then we moved to Gion Shijo and had dinner at a yakitori restaurant called "Kashiwa" in Kiyamachi. We ordered the value set menu "Kinkaku Yakitori Set", which included various parts of chicken such as thigh, tenderloin, neck bones, tail, and breast. We also ordered wrapped vegetables and stuffed bell peppers as additional dishes. The chicken was marinated in a green onion salt sauce and grilled to perfection, juicy and delicious. My favorite was the tenderloin. We also added extra rice because it was so tasty. Overall, the food was delicious, the prices were reasonable, and the staff was friendly. I would definitely like to visit this restaurant again.

Thursday 7:30 PM, there were about 3 groups of customers ahead of us. There was only one staff member. They were working with their back turned, so it honestly felt a bit awkward to place an order. The staff member wasn't bad, but it still took over 10 minutes from entering the restaurant to getting our first drink. When we wanted a refill, we had to go up to the kitchen to place our order. The quality of the chicken was average. Considering it's a tourist area, the prices are understandable, but they really need to work on their management and staff retention.

Tonight's main dinner was at "Kashiwa Koyamachi" restaurant. It is a traditional chicken yakiniku restaurant. We had various cuts of chicken such as parent bird, chick thigh, bonjiri, breast meat, and soft cartilage, which we don't usually have for yakiniku. Since it's chicken, it felt healthy and light, and it was delicious. I wish there was a restaurant like this in Tokushima. After eating, we headed back to the hotel, ending our second day.

It was 18:00 on a rainy day at Shijo Kawaramachi. I wandered around Kiyamachi Street to choose a place for dinner. I passed by various restaurants like Kashiwa, Retro, JB, Toriyaki, but all of them were empty despite it being the middle of the July 14th holiday. Kimiya was closed, Momiji was packed, and Golden was doing okay. Finally, I peeped into Kashiwa and it was almost full, with only one table available. So, my friend and I decided to try Kashiwa. It was my first time trying Toriyaki, and I remembered there was a similar place called Soleris in Gojo. The cost performance seemed good, and the food looked refreshing, so there must be some demand for it. We ordered two draft beers, yakitori skewers, and three servings of sake. We forgot to order potato salad and changja, but they didn't bring the meat dishes we ordered, so we had to cancel them. We added chicken wings and thighs instead, but they were sold out of the parent's meat. Maybe they had a limited menu due to the rain today. There were about 6-7 types of sake on the menu, but only 2 were actually available. The total bill came to 9,000 yen, which seemed cheap at first, but when I calculated it, it wasn't that cheap. Each dish was around 500 yen, so the math doesn't add up. I might have forgotten something, but oh well. Overall, it was a new experience trying Toriyaki. I would like to try Soleris and Oicho next time!

Wandering around and stumbled upon a shop with an inviting curtain. Started with a Ginger Highball for a toast. Looking at the menu, I found items like heart (pipe) and shirako! Uncommon cuts that caught my interest, so I couldn't help but order them! The shirako had a rich umami flavor that spread in my mouth when I chewed it! It pairs well with sake. The pork breast... was sold out... what a shame. I recommend coming with a group to try out various cuts!

The owner is the only one, so the service is disappointing. But the yakitori and grilled dishes are somewhat interesting. I've never seen anything like this before. The one in Nishikyogoku feels more like the main store.

It's not good if it's overcooked, but when you think of it as grilled chicken, it feels a bit expensive. It's delicious though. However, since the manager is alone, the service seems to be lacking.

Today's recommendation was the morning-pulled local chicken, which was exquisite with just the right amount of lean meat and incredibly tender. The photo shows the shirako, which was also exquisite.

Wandering around Kyoto. Originally planned to go to a different restaurant but it was fully booked, so we decided to come here instead while walking around. The restaurant was bustling with customers and it was lucky that we were able to get in without a reservation! The delicious smell and lively atmosphere made us hungry. The lack of fancy decor was actually really nice! I love this kind of vibe. We grilled various meats on the table grill, like chicken and pork. Everything was delicious! It was amazing. Thank you for the meal.

This is an old shop in Kiyamachi! The noren and exterior captured my heart as a fan of izakayas! The unique feature here is that you grill chicken and pork yourself! They also have local chicken hot pot! It's summer, so beer is a must from the atmosphere of the shop! So I toasted with a draft beer! But I realized I'm not a big fan of beer anymore, so I switched to a highball for the second drink! The appetizer was a salad! I ordered three out of the four recommended chicken dishes for today - Otafuku, Kyoto local chicken, and I forgot the other one! It was like a worm! I'm really bad with bugs, but worms are not so bad because they don't have wings or legs! If they had wings and legs, it would be impossible for me! When you grill worm-like things, they shrink and become crispy! It was delicious! Thank you for the meal ^ ^ I will come again ☆ I have a gourmet blog that is probably the least helpful in Japan! On this day, I went on a food expedition in Kyoto with a famous food blogger. As a beginner, I just followed along eagerly! We ended up at this place as our third stop. I looked around at a few places, but nothing really caught my eye. I was so tired and couldn't walk anymore, so I just went in! We toasted with our drinks like true food bloggers do! It was so quick and efficient between us food bloggers! The food was left to the discretion of the famous blogger because he was hungry. I wanted something like a salad, so I asked the staff and they said the appetizer was a salad. So I went with that. The staff was too honest! Then, the dish chosen by the famous blogger arrived, looking like a platter of various items. It was a bit intimidating, especially the raw chicken before grilling. The appearance was quite scary! We had to grill it ourselves since it was a self-service style. But wait, this chicken shrinks a lot when grilled! It was a bit scary, but when I tried it, it had a crispy texture and was actually quite good! The other Kyoto local chicken dishes were also delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I had plans nearby, so I thought I'd fill my stomach a bit♪ Let's stop by here (((o(*ﾟ▽ﾟ*)o))) I'm interested in yakitori shops, but I haven't been to many of them (*'▽'*) I didn't have much time, so I'll just keep ordering and eating♪ Mmm!! Personally, my favorite was the potato salad (eh) in the third photo♪ Th-this is...!! My favorite type of solid, non-mashed potatoes!! Plus, the bacon is thick and the warm egg is so good~(((o(*ﾟ▽ﾟ*)o))) It's more like German potato salad than regular potato salad!! Definitely try ordering it (*'▽'*)♪ I definitely want to go back again♪

After finishing up my business in Kyoto and before heading back to Osaka, I was wandering around Kiyamachi Street. It was cold, so I wanted to have some hot sake and eat yakitori! I saw this restaurant's sign and exterior, and decided to go in. The atmosphere was great with the charcoal smoke billowing at the counter, but they only had table seating, where you cook your food on a grill in the middle of the table. So, the menu listed "toriyaki" instead of yakitori! They also had pork and it seemed more like a yakiniku place. The appetizer was a large salad, with soft bone tsukune, seseri and chicken tataki, and a comparison of Kyoto red chicken. I enjoyed being able to cook the food myself and customize it to my liking. The tsukune with soft bone inside was just the type I like. I also did a comparison of the male and female Kyoto red chicken. It's possible to distinguish the difference in texture and elasticity between the two. By that time, I was already on my 6th cup of hot sake. I'll definitely come back next time for a proper meal. On May 16, 2014 at 6:36 pm, I noticed the sign for Samgyupsal at "Kashiwa" in Kiyamachi and felt like eating it, so I decided to go in. The atmosphere was not bad, but the staff's response when I entered was awkward. I had a bad feeling... I tried to order the Samgyupsal, but was told, "We're out of it today." No main dish on a Friday at 6:30 pm? Shocking. But since they didn't have it, I randomly ordered pork yakiniku. I also wanted to order chicken sashimi, but they didn't have that either. As a last resort, I thought to order cold noodles, but they were out of that too. So I tried to order ramen, and was told, "We don't have any noodles." What the heck! The taste was just okay, and the prices weren't cheap. I won't be going back there. Rating: 3.2
