This is the only service area around here. There are shops outside selling soft serve ice cream, takoyaki, and yakisoba, but the indoor dining area is spacious and offers a variety of food options with a ticket system. They have ramen, udon, soba, curry, and set meals. I was torn between choices, but I was intrigued by the hand-made black bean udon, and I also wanted to try the curry, so I ended up getting the curry black bean udon for 750 yen. In hindsight, I should have chosen the curry flavor if I wanted to savor the black bean udon, but oh well, I also wanted to try the curry. It seems that I had been here 7 years ago (I don't remember, haha), and it looks like I had the black bean udon back then. There was a photo from the "first visit" with the black bean udon. The udon seemed to have black beans kneaded into it, as I could see black specks in the noodles. I'm not sure if the noodles were naturally soft or if they softened in the hot curry, but when I lifted the noodles from the curry sea, they were so soft that they broke easily. Both the noodles and curry were very delicious! My daughter had the cold udon, which she really enjoyed. It came with a dipping sauce. My husband had the keema curry, which I think was around 700 yen. Last order is at 7:30 PM. I would like to go back again, maybe try the black bean soba next time.

On the final day of the three-day weekend, I was driving towards Amanohashidate on the Kyoto Jukan Expressway and decided to stop at the lively service area called Kyoto Tango Midori no Sato because I was feeling hungry. I checked out the menu at the food court and saw that the specialty was a bowl with two large shrimp on top, along with curry and other dishes. I decided to order the bowl, thinking that maybe they were using the shrimp to make it look bigger. However, the bowl turned out to be filled with shrimp meat all the way to the tip of the tail, and it was deliciously plump and juicy. I'm looking forward to trying the curry next time.

In September 2023, on the way from Otsu to Miyazu Amanohashidate, we stopped for a late lunch break. We had a hearty breakfast at the hotel's morning buffet, so we were looking for a light meal (onigiri and something sweet) at the service area. One item that caught our eye was the mackerel sushi (735 yen). The thickly sliced cured mackerel looked delicious and was quite filling for sharing between two people. For dessert, we chose the vanilla ice cream from Sushi High School (120 yen) and Tamba chestnut (150 yen). Sushi High School is a public high school in Funai District, Kyoto Prefecture, and the students in the food chemistry department develop products using local specialties that are then sold. There was a section with tables and chairs on the premises, but it was drizzling and humid, so we enjoyed our food in the car. The ice cream had a refreshing texture and was easy to eat.

I stopped by during a drive. I don't usually choose Western-style food, but for some reason today I wanted to eat sauce katsu don. The rich flavor really soaked into my tired body... Thank you for the meal! ■ Dish received: Sauce beef katsu don

I went to Hachi Kogen by bus and stopped for lunch on the way! I heard that the chicken is delicious, so I ordered the Chicken Nanban set meal. The chicken was tender and tasty, but the vinegar was a bit overpowering, making it slightly disappointing. The tartar sauce seemed store-bought and lacked a homemade touch. Despite this, I finished my meal and enjoyed a smooth soft-serve ice cream for dessert. The roadside station was bustling with people and offered a wide variety of souvenirs, making it a fun stop.

On the way to the Shokoji Beach in Kyotango City, we stopped by a roadside station on the Kyoto Jukan Expressway. The station, called Michimu no Sato in Kyotamba, is quite spacious. They had a special product called "Limited Mikasa" with 5 pieces for 918 yen including tax, or you could buy 1 piece for 183 yen. We also tried the delicious Kuri-an from Iizutsu Yatsuhashi Honpo. It was fluffy and tasty, so we decided to share some with our parents. However, we were a bit disappointed with the Black Bean Senbei, priced at 864 yen, as we were expecting peanut-flavored senbei but it turned out to be just regular senbei and not very delicious. Just a heads up for those visiting Michimu no Sato in Kyotamba!

Feel the countryside air and relax with a leisurely drive to Ajimu no Sato for a refreshing time! They have a dog run, so you can bring your furry friend along. I always stop by here and enjoy the following: - Aonoya's Shime Saba Sushi for 864 yen - Nanafukudo's Ichigo Daifuku for 702 yen - Pon Kashi (black beans) for 378 yen I've had Shime Saba Sushi in many places, but this one here is my favorite. The vinegar flavor is mellow and the rice is delicious. The mackerel is thick and has just the right amount of fat. Usually, thick cuts can have a fishy taste, but I used to prefer grilled mackerel until I tried the one here! The Ichigo Daifuku is small and comes in a pack of 5. The strawberries are very sweet and juicy! The sweet red bean paste is not too sweet, so you can really taste the sweetness of the strawberries. It's very popular and usually sold out by 11 am on weekends. However, they restock around 2 pm! In autumn, they also have chestnut daifuku, which is also recommended. Dogs love the black bean Pon Kashi. It's baked so it's safe for dogs to eat! They enjoy the crunchy texture. After buying these treats, you can take a walk with your dog at the nearby Sakitani Kofun Park, enjoying the Shime Saba and Daifuku along the way. Spending a leisurely time with your dog while enjoying the countryside scenery can make you forget about the hustle and bustle of daily life!

I stopped by the Michi-no-Eki Ajimu no Sato for a restroom break. They had plenty of local souvenirs and products, including fresh vegetables. Inside the shop, I found a delicious-looking cream puff. I'm not sure if it's from a local pastry shop, but the crispy choux pastry was amazing. The cream was rich and flavorful, with a good level of sweetness. It was a decent size and satisfied my hunger. The taste was really delicious!

It was like a food court at a roadside station, but I was very satisfied with the taste, even more than I expected! I thought it was much more delicious than the nearby soba or tempura shops. It was an easy environment to use for a break, so I recommend stopping by for a meal when you have the chance!

After eating some oysters, I felt like having more seafood, so I stopped by a couple of places. The first place didn't have as much seafood as I had hoped for, and the second place didn't have many food options, so I ended up coming back here. It was more like a roadside station level "zaru soba." It filled my stomach a bit. Thank you for the meal. m(_ _)m

I had delicious back fat ramen at the parking area. It had an authentic taste and was just to my liking. I wanted to have seconds. My girlfriend had the hamburger set meal. We enjoyed the delicious food. It looks like we can safely go home now (laughs).

When I visit SA, I always end up checking out the local drinks. This time, I found a salted cider from Kyoto Tango called "Kotohiki no Shio Cider". The saltiness was quite strong, which combined with the carbonation to create a somewhat intense flavor. Overall, I found myself tempted to buy it on my journey, as they have done a good job of making it appealing.

Today's stop is at a roadside station located at the Kyoto Takanami Expressway, adjacent to the Kyoto Tanba Service Area. This roadside station can be accessed from both the up line, down line, and general road, offering a wide range of souvenirs and local products. I didn't have anything specific in mind, but I was surprised by the Daikoku Hon Shimeji mushrooms. I always thought shimeji mushrooms were small, but these were huge! This time, I purchased a chiffon cake made with rice flour. It has a fluffy texture, but it feels a bit powdery and dry, not moist. It might be a bit dry and crumbly.

They have a wide variety of local products, vegetables, local sake, wine, sweets, and souvenirs, making it a fun place to visit. The soft serve ice cream is from a shop that has achieved excellent results at roadside stations in western Japan, so it's worth stopping by. I forgot to take a photo of the soft serve, but it was rich in milk flavor, not too sweet, and I could enjoy it quickly despite the cold weather. When you open the lid of the egg custard pudding, a nice aroma wafts out. The caramel has soaked in nicely and has a good color. The caramel has a slightly bitter taste and is more of an adult pudding. It's not too sweet, with a firm surface but a smooth, creamy texture inside that melts in your mouth. It's made with granulated sugar, brown sugar, and Japanese brown sugar. The snack cheesecake brulee from Matsuya. The surface is crispy! The cream cheese is not too sweet, but when mixed, the sweetness comes out, and it's very delicious. I regret not buying more. Thank you for the meal.

On November 12, 2020, we took a short trip to the Japan Sea side of Kyoto Prefecture to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary. Despite the pandemic, we decided to use the Go To Travel campaign, thinking that there wouldn't be too many people on the Japan Sea side. On the first day, we enjoyed the view of Amanohashidate from Amanohashidate View Land. On the second day, we drove along the coast facing the Japan Sea in Kyotango City and tasted bara-zushi at Torimatsu. After that, we visited the Anno Mitsumasa Museum at Wakuden no Mori, which was designed by Tadao Ando. The museum had a calming atmosphere with abundant use of wood. We had planned to visit the cafe and restaurant on the premises, but ran out of time and had to head back. Feeling a bit hungry and still having Go To Travel coupons, we stopped by the Michi no Eki Kyotamba Ajimu no Sato on the Kyoto Jukan Expressway. However, most of the local specialties were sold out by the time we arrived after 4:30 PM. Additionally, we found out that the smartphone version of the coupon was not accepted, only the paper version. We quickly left the crowded place and bought hot takoyaki, Tamba black bean soft serve, and special matcha soft serve from an outdoor shop. For some reason, I always crave soft serve ice cream on the highway or during trips. The hot takoyaki was delicious, and the cold soft serve helped soothe my mouth. Our anniversary trip was coming to an end. Thank you for the meal.

On the way back from Amanohashidate, we stopped by the Michi-no-Eki Kyoto Tamba Ajimu-no-Sato at Tanba PA on the Kyoto Jukan Expressway. It's a very spacious roadside station with a Kyoto Tamba Market, restaurants, and a food court. Let's try the Mitarashi dango for 300 yen at the Kyoto Tamba Local Products Workshop! It's freshly baked, soft, and delicious. We each had one for 300 yen, my daughter and I. We're also buying Tamba Kingdom Craft Beer at the Kyoto Tamba Market. Since we enjoyed craft beer at the "Toretore Center," we found four types here: Weizen for 500 yen, a refreshing taste with a fruity aroma; Pilsner for 500 yen, a refreshing hop aroma and elegant taste; Meister for 500 yen, a mellow and refreshing taste; and Mertzen for 500 yen, a refreshing taste with a nutty flavor. For dinner at home, we'll have the Navy's curry. Craft beer and curry go really well together. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

On the way back to Nara, I stopped by to buy souvenirs. This place is located in the middle of Kyoto Prefecture and can be accessed from both the Kyoto Jukan Expressway and general roads. In addition to souvenirs, there are also direct sales outlets and many other attractions! What's more, I was surprised to find out that a hotel has opened here in October. It's a very beautiful and large roadside station. Among the many items available, I purchased: Amanohashidate ham - roast ham (548 yen), Amanohashidate ham - herb sausage (598 yen), Chirimen yuba rice (540 yen), Murasaki hanamame sweet red beans (350 yen), Miyama egg pudding (280 yen), Matsuya's snack (brulee cheesecake) (260 yen). The herb sausage is slightly firm with a hint of herb flavor. It tasted delicious when grilled, and I think it would be great in a pot-au-feu as well. The brulee cheesecake had a slightly bitter burnt caramel part, but it was delicious. The crispy texture and smooth, rich cheesecake were amazing! There is also a buffet-style restaurant that uses plenty of ingredients from Kyotamba Town and a food court. If you have the chance, be sure to stop by and check it out. Enjoy your meal!

I had planned to visit Miyajima in early spring, but due to the impact of the coronavirus, I postponed it to this winter or next spring. As a result, I ended up stopping by this service area on my way to the Kinosaki Onsen area, which I had never been to before. The new Michi-no-Eki is combined with the service area, offering Matsutake mushroom rice balls, goat's milk, and famous Tanba black bean bread. I also bought a freshly fried skewer made with Awaji Island onions for breakfast. The black bean bread with sweetened black beans was delicious, and the goat's milk was a bit difficult to drink, maybe because I'm not used to it. The Matsutake rice ball didn't have much aroma, but the highlight was the freshly fried onion skewer from the tempura shop. It was sweet and tasty, a new product they were promoting. They also sold various canned fish products from a project by the Kyoto Prefectural Marine High School, including mackerel, oil sardines, and firefly squid. This Michi-no-Eki had a great selection of souvenirs from Kyoto and Hyogo prefectures.

We decided to go on a drive to Wakasa with my partner~♫ Despite the gloomy weather, the power of the sunny woman exploded, and it turned into a perfect day for a drive. To get to Wakasa from Kishiwada, we took the Hanshin Expressway Bayshore Line, Sakai-Senboku Road, Hanwa Expressway, Kinki Expressway, Second Keihan Expressway, and Kyoto Jukan Road. It's almost 200 kilometers one way! After about an hour of driving, we decided to take a break at "Michi-no-Eki Kyoto Tamba Ajimu-no-Sato." This roadside station opened in July 2015 with the full opening of the Kyoto Jukan Expressway, and it's a great place to eat and shop. They have various specialty products from Tamba, such as Tamba chestnuts, Tamba black soybeans, black soybean edamame, and Tamba Adzuki beans. We love roadside stations, and this one was quite spacious and clean, which was nice. Of course, we had to try their soft serve ice cream. The black soybean soft serve was slightly black in color and ranked 2nd in the "Roadside Station Soft Serve Ice Cream Grand Prix." It had a delicious flavor of black soybean kinako mixed directly into the soft serve. We also tried the red chicken Karaage, made from the local specialty red chicken. The tender meat and flavorful sauce made it a delightful snack. Roadside stations have really evolved with delicious food and specialties. Thank you for the meal! Now, off to Wakasa we go! ♡

Good evening. I am a beauty acupuncture therapist, Kozue. The other day, I drove from Kyoto Station to Amanohashidate. On the way back, I stopped at Michi-no-Eki Kyotamba Ajimu no Sato. This place is also a highway parking area. It is quite well-equipped for a parking area, probably because it also has a roadside station. There are information desks, souvenir shops, restaurants, and more, making it enjoyable. One area is called Niwa Daishokudo, which is similar to a food court but with reasonable prices. I wanted to try local or unique dishes, so I ordered the pickled heshiko rice bowl and black bean curry pasta this time. The pickled heshiko rice bowl had chopped heshiko fish on top of plenty of rice, with broth poured over it. Heshiko is a local dish made by salting and fermenting blue fish, and it was not too salty when eaten with rice and broth. It was a delicious rice bowl. The mushrooms on the side were also tasty. The black bean curry pasta had a slightly bitter demiglace sauce with plenty of large black beans. The beans were soft and their flavor paired well with the sauce. It was an interesting curry, and using Tamba's black beans in various dishes is intriguing. It was a delightful meal.

We had been talking since last month about wanting to take a drive to Wakasa on a sunny Sunday in July. But every Sunday the weather was iffy... So we decided to go ahead on a day with iffy weather. We set off from Kishiwada and took the Hanshin Expressway Bayshore Line -> Sakai-Senboku Road -> Hanwa Expressway -> Kinki Expressway -> Second Keihan Expressway -> Kyoto Jukan Expressway. When we left Kishiwada, the sky was overcast, but as we got closer to Wakasa, the sky turned incredibly blue! (๑ᴖ◡ᴖ๑) Maybe someone's sunny weather power worked?! After about an hour of driving, we found a rest area so we decided to take a break. At Kyotamba Ajimu no Sato... a roadside station as well, we had some black soybean ice cream and red chicken tempura. The black soybean ice cream had a deliciously nutty flavor, and the red chicken tempura was surprisingly tasty. It seems like the trend of not finding good food at highway rest areas is changing, isn't it? (^ー^) Let's hurry on our way now! Thank you for the meal! m(_ _)m
