I visited the restaurant Shoku to Mori, which I had been wanting to try for a while. I made a reservation through Hitosara the day before just to be safe. I was drawn to their healthy obanzai plate and the Kyoto Tanba pudding. The renovated old house interior had a charming atmosphere. You have to take off your shoes before entering. You order by scanning a QR code and ordering from your smartphone. I ordered the obanzai plate (1350 yen tax included) and the Kyoto Tanba pudding (550 yen tax included) and waited for a bit. Each dish was carefully prepared and visually appealing, looking healthy. The taste was also good. However, the portion size was small, so it may not be suitable for those looking for a lot of food. The pudding had a firm texture with a hint of bitterness, which was delicious. Since I visited on a weekday, it wasn't crowded, but I recommend making a reservation for weekends. There is a second floor, but it's usually only open during busy times on weekends. It was quite hot inside, so I suggest visiting when it's cooler. There are not many old house cafes around Kyoto Station, so if you're interested, give it a try.

Kyoto, Nishinoto-in front: Food and Mori Kyoto vegetable and conger eel tempura plate set meal ¥2,500.-100% soy milk Basque cheesecake ¥550.-Domestic ginger ginger ale ¥500.-I visited the shop that caught my eye when I passed by before. The conger eel was fluffy and delicious, but the batter was crispy instead of crunchy. This is not tempura, it's fritters, right (^^;) Also, even though it's a charming Kyoto townhouse, being made to eat facing the wall next to the vending machine in the empty room is not a pleasant experience. Is this the owner's way of saying they don't want customers coming alone for a meal? Thank you for the meal~ #Kyoto #Nishinoto-in #Nishinoto-in gourmet #Food and Mori #Kyoto vegetables #conger eel #tempura #Basque cheesecake #ginger ale #lunch #lunchtime

I was drawn to the healthy obanzai plate at this cozy cafe in a traditional house. The dishes were filled with lots of vegetables, perfect for the body. For dessert, I enjoyed a nostalgic firm pudding and a 100% soy milk cheesecake. Both were delicious!

Lunch in a wonderful space that feels like a time slip. The tofu hamburger and Kyoto obanzai plate were carefully made and very delicious. The prices were reasonable, but the portion size may not be satisfying for some. It is good for those who eat small portions.

The phone line was busy so I couldn't make a reservation, but there were available seats for walk-ins. The salad dressing was delicious. The cherry blossom sesame tofu had a lovely fragrance, perfect for spring. The tempura and the daily tofu hamburger were all delicious with a variety of options. I visited on a rainy Saturday without a reservation around 12 o'clock and there were plenty of seats available. But by the time I left, the restaurant was full, so it seems like making a reservation or arriving early is best on sunny weekends. I'd like to know how to make a reservation, haha.

When I went to Kyoto, I wanted to eat delicious obanzai dishes and found this restaurant on the internet. It's about a 10-minute walk from the station or bus stop, but easy to find with prominent roads and temples nearby. I wore a yukata, which suited the old traditional house atmosphere of the restaurant. The obanzai plate had a unique focus on each ingredient and cooking method, using unusual vegetables and special frying techniques to avoid greasiness. The strawberry vinegar drink was also very delicious. I usually don't like vinegar, but this drink had a harmonious blend of strawberry and vinegar that made it easy to drink. I highly recommend it even for those who don't like vinegar. The restaurant hasn't been open for long, so there aren't many reviews yet, but it offers a wonderful experience of enjoying a carefully crafted obanzai plate in a Kyoto-like atmosphere. While Western clothing is fine, I recommend visiting in traditional Japanese attire. I believe that as its reputation grows, this place will become very popular. I definitely want to go back and eat there the next time I visit Kyoto.

The calm old folk house cafe had delicious food with natural seasoning. Ordering the trendy firm pudding was the right choice.

The atmosphere is retro and nice, but it's not very appealing as it is far from the station.
