Since the popular bakery "amam dacotan" from Fukuoka opened in Omotesando, I had been trying to figure out the best timing to visit. However, it seems like the days without long lines are not coming anytime soon, so I decided to line up and visit before the opening on a weekday. I arrived at 10:20 for the 11:00 opening, and there were about 20 people in line. It was similar to queuing for a popular ramen shop, so it was not a problem at all. Despite hoping for a less crowded day due to the hot weather in August, I was mistaken. The interior of the shop felt like stepping into a fairy tale world, with a narrow space filled with various types of bread, some without visible price tags. The bread is meticulously handmade in the store every day, with the dough, ingredients, and everything made with care. Each bread is crafted by artisans who adjust the temperature and steam while observing the dough's condition. It takes over 15 hours to make each bread, ensuring that many of them remain delicious the next day due to the high water content. The shop is more like a bread restaurant than just a bakery, with each bread resembling a fine dish. "amam dacotan" comes from the Ainu language, combining "wheat (amam)" and "village (kotan)" to mean "wheat house." It is also famous for starting the Marron Toscana boom. I purchased the following items: - Marron Toscana - Basque Cheesecake Marron Toscana - Mentaiko Tamago Sandwich - Premium Pistachio Cream Bread - Croque-Monsieur - Thick Baked Egg Napoletana - Shrimp Fry Sandwich with Plenty of Vegetables and Homemade Tartar Sauce While many opt for takeout, people buy a large number of bread and carry them back in big bags. I spent over 3000 yen, but the high price of each bread quickly adds up. If you order a drink, you can also eat in at a few outdoor tables. Many places prioritize aesthetics over taste, but this shop truly excels in both. They pay attention to the ingredients, and their creativity in making bread delicious is the shop's biggest charm. The variety of bread is impressive, and the idea behind each one is commendable. The fact that they can turn all these different breads into tasty dishes is amazing. The experience was more like "Wow!" than just "It was delicious!" It's quite challenging to wait for 3 hours, so it may not be easy to visit often, but I would love to come back again. It has become one of my favorite bakeries. Popular shops really do have their secrets! Well done! Thank you for the delicious meal.

Finally, the weather became nice enough to go out, so I braced myself and went. First of all, because some people don't look at or understand the sign content, not announcing that the line is separate could become a factor in building up the frustration of those who are waiting in line. I told someone who was mistakenly standing in front of me that the line is back there, but I wonder if shy people wouldn't be able to say that. I felt a bit unhappy about it. As for the bread, the focaccia was heavily seasoned and a bit greasy. The French toast was not too sweet and very tasty! I'll save the croque-monsieur for tomorrow. The bread was delicious, but the frustration of waiting in line left a bad impression. I'm not sure if I'll come back again.

A popular shop in Fukuoka, which became famous for its Marron Totsu on Instagram, has opened in Tokyo. They offer over 70 attractive types of bread, making it like a dreamland. The prices are reasonable, and all the bread is delicious! Despite being open for 2 years, the shop still attracts long lines in Omotesando. The waiting area is shaded, so it's not too difficult. You can actually make reservations online to avoid waiting in line, which is recommended. I started lining up around 2 pm on a Sunday and got in after about 30 minutes. You can eat the bread you buy on the terrace in front of the shop, but most people choose takeout. The stylish space with plants and bread makes you want to take photos! They have a variety of sweet and savory bread, not just Marron Totsu as I initially thought. I ended up choosing about 10 types of bread, spending around 5000 yen (laughs). Some of the highlights include the Seasonal Fruit and Gorgonzola Honey Toast (Shine Muscat version), Prosciutto and Blueberry Jam with Blue Cheese Honey Toast, Pistachio and Condensed Milk Butter Sandwich, Fig Taiwan Custard Donut, Basque Cheesecake Marron Totsu, Amazon Cacao Cranberry Cream Cheese Bread, Pain Perdu, Pain Perdu Baguette French Toast with Bacon and Cheese, and Pistachio and Condensed Milk Butter Sandwich.

I made a reservation online the day before and picked up my order as takeout. I arrived at the store at 12 o'clock as scheduled, and I was surprised to see a long line as usual. The M set came with 15 varieties of side dishes and creatively crafted bread, priced at 5000 yen which is a bit high, but it was worth it. Each bread had delicious ingredients and the variety of textures from chewy to crispy was well balanced. Among them, the mentaiko (spicy cod roe) bread was particularly interesting with the addition of green onions and a mix of half-cooked and fully cooked parts, creating a unique spicy flavor. However, since I prefer crispy bread over chewy ones, my expectations were a bit too high. Nevertheless, the creatively crafted bread was definitely worth trying. I would like to try different types of bread next time. One thing to note is that when buying the set, I couldn't tell which bread was which. It would be helpful to receive some information on that.

I went to Amamudakotan in Omotesando Roppongi and lined up for a gift because I had never been to Omotesando before. It was a hot Sunday, so there weren't too many people and I don't think I had to wait for more than 30 minutes. They have a variety of side dishes and sweets, perfect for gifts. I got my favorite salt bread and cream salt bread. They also had fresh donuts in the afternoon! Recently, I'mdonut opened in Harajuku, right? I'm not the type to eat sweets a lot, so I prefer Amamudakotan. They have delicious fig maritozzo and fruit sandwiches this season. You can also make a reservation in advance, so you can buy without waiting in line, but there's a joy in choosing from the line of delicious-looking items... ☺︎

Arrived at 13:43 on Saturday for the first time. I didn't know how to line up properly, so I lined up at the sign, but a woman behind me said, "I was actually in line before you." I was confused until I was told that the line actually continues in a different spot after a break. It can be confusing without experience. In popular dessert shops in department stores, staff are usually stationed where the line breaks to explain how to line up and control the queue. It would be better to have staff to prevent customer disputes. It took about 40 minutes from lining up to finishing the purchase. The store was very cramped, with a sign at the entrance saying "Maximum 6 customers at a time." My initial impression of the pastries was that "each pastry is small." There were more sweet and savory pastries than simple bread. Especially the savory pastries that seemed Instagram-worthy left an impact. To compare flavors with other shops, I always buy "red bean paste bun," "cream bun," "square loaf," and "Yamagata loaf" that are always available. I also usually get "butter roll" and "croissant," but this time they were not available, so I bought "salted bread" and "Danish pastries." I also got a melon bun. The "red bean paste bun," "cream bun," and "salted bread" all had a similar dough. All the pastries I bought were mildly sweet and easy to eat. Honestly, they were delicious but not mind-blowing. If asked whether I would line up again for them, I would say trying them once is enough. Paper bags cost an additional ¥35. It took about 40 minutes from lining up to finishing the purchase.

I made a reservation online the day before and went to pick it up. I got the "Mystery M" set where you can't choose what you get. Even though it was before 2 PM on Saturday, there was still a long line, so it was probably the right decision to reserve. The Dakota Burger was quite substantial! I didn't know what was what since I didn't buy it myself, so next time I want to wait in line and choose what to purchase.

The store opens at 11:00, I arrived at 9:30 and was the 4th in line (I thought I was the first, so I was surprised!). By the way, there are chairs available for the first 4 people in line! I had heard about Amumudakotan and their delicious donuts before, so I couldn't resist lining up multiple times until I finally made it to the store. They have a unique variety of bread with fillings like a sandwich, which I had never seen before. I decided to try the Dakotan Burger, and it was incredibly delicious! Just like with their donuts, I felt the urge to try all the different options. I also bought their famous mentaiko bread, which I froze and it was still delicious even two days later. I spent about 4000 yen, but only took 2 photos of my purchases. The photo is from inside Amumudakotan where you can eat in (you need to be one of the first 4 in line to get a seat).

Before heading to lunch, I passed by a bakery with a long line. After finishing lunch, I decided to visit again. When I entered after waiting a bit, the inside of the shop had a playful atmosphere like an amusement park for bread. There were many different types of bread, all looking delicious. Of course, the taste of the bread was amazing. I didn't buy any deli bread this time because I had plans to walk around after visiting, but they looked so delicious that I plan to buy some next time. It was a space that bread lovers would adore, and the food was very tasty. Thank you for the meal.

I understand why it's popular, why there are long lines. I experienced it myself. Of course it's popular. Of course there are lines. I arrived at 10:20 on a Friday after Obon. There were 6 people ahead of me. More and more customers kept coming, forming a line that probably extended out of sight from the shop. I love bread. But I'm currently working away from home, so I can only eat a little by myself. I wanted to try a variety of things, so I visited when my family came to visit. The shop opened at 11:00, allowing only 6 people inside. It took a while to get in. Two reasons: customers taking lots of photos (which I understand), and the wide variety of choices. After about 10 minutes, we finally entered. I was more focused on choosing what to eat than taking photos, and my wife and kids were the same. We were eager to try everything! I planned to visit other places to eat later, so I restrained myself, but still ended up buying about 8 items for around 3,500 yen. It was the first time I spent so much at a bakery, but other customers bought even more. There were so many things I wanted to try that I was reluctant to leave. In the end, we ate the bread at night, and everything was incredibly delicious. The bagna cauda French bread was delicious, the raw donuts were amazing, the croque-monsieur was... everything was delicious. The appearance was cute too. It was impressive. It's no wonder it's popular with long lines. I understand.

The restaurant is located slightly away from the main street, with a line forming towards the road leading to the main street. It may be mistaken for a sushi restaurant due to the line. As a first-time visitor, I was helped by the person in front who kindly showed me where to line up. It can be confusing, right? After that, I noticed others making the same mistake. After eating, I regretted it as I was already full and my decision-making stopped. There were many unique sandwich options, but I hesitated as I wondered if they would be tasty the next day or if the sauce would make the bread soggy. It's risky to buy raw food in the summer. The Bostock was a French pastry with a cocoa-orange flavor that would probably go well with a sweet latte. I'll try toasting the croissant when it cools down for a rematch. Next time, I'll make sure to buy the mentaiko baguette.

My mother usually goes there, but she hates waiting in line so she ordered online and picked it up. It cost ¥3000 for 8 types of sweets, 5 of which were sweet, and the rest were hamburgers, mentaiko croissants, and croque-monsieurs. I was curious if they were really as delicious as my mother always says, and honestly, they were delicious. Not explosively delicious, but all of them were very tasty and appealing to everyone. They made me want to eat them over and over again, almost addictively. I thought that the simple taste of the bread itself was not as delicious as the seasoning that complemented the bread so well (maybe because there were many flavored breads). I also want to try basic bread like sandwich bread and baguettes. When I told my mother about it, she said, "I prefer the ¥5000 one." As usual, she asked me to buy it myself.

On a holiday around 1 pm, I peeked in and there were about 10 groups waiting in line, so I was able to get in right away without waiting for about 15 minutes! I had the salt brioche bread and French toast. The salt bread was average, but the French toast was delicious. I would like to go back to buy some side dishes and maritozzo.

I arrived 20 minutes before opening on a regular day, but there was already a long line. Ended up waiting for an hour. The interior of the shop is filled with cute bread that caught my eye. The display was also cute, but some bread was placed in a position where people's clothes seemed to touch them, so I wanted to avoid that. The staff also shouted, "Freshly baked!" without a mask, so it might not be suitable for germaphobic people. I sat inside to eat and the staff making the bread in front of me were talking loudly about very private matters, which made me worried. The bread was delicious, but for the wait, I felt less satisfied since there are many other places with even more delicious bread. I would like to try the cream bread and raw donuts again if there's no line.

While riding a taxi in Fukuoka, I saw a line and asked the taxi driver for recommendations. He suggested a bakery in Omotesando, where I waited for about 20 minutes during the Obon season. The bakery had delicious pastries, including mentaiko bread. Inside the shop, the staff recommended items that were freshly baked, but I didn't feel the need to try them.

I went to I'mdonut. There were about 50 people in line, maybe 3 to 5 times more than usual. I almost gave up and was about to leave when I peeked into Dakotan on my way back. There were only about 10 people there. It's still early afternoon. Lucky me. It's hot, but I decided to wait. After a few minutes, I entered the shop. Everything looked delicious and I couldn't decide what to get. Since there were people waiting behind me, I just grabbed whatever I hadn't tried before and filled up my tray. I ended up with a full paper bag. When I got home and tried the donuts, they were naturally delicious. The seasonal ones in the photos were also fresh. I hope I can buy them without waiting in line next time.

This is a restaurant I've been wanting to try for a while. I wanted to line up and select my favorite items, but it was a day when I had my kids with me and the summer heat was intense, so I decided to pre-order the chef's choice set. I think it was around 10 am the day before. The next day's reservations become available. I picked up my order on a weekday, but even at around 6 pm, the chef's choice sets were already sold out. I purchased the M size set for 3,000 yen. When I arrived for pick up at 1:30 pm, there was a line of about 30 people, maybe a little longer. Despite it being during the summer vacation period, the line was still quite long at this time. I was able to pick up my order smoothly in about 5 minutes when I asked at the store. I am grateful for that. The chef's choice set included the following: - Mentaiko baguette - Dakota burger - Cranberry and cream cheese - Chocolate and banana bostock - Honey cheese croque monsieur - Hojicha roll - Scones - Berry bread (no information provided) I was expecting the mentaiko baguette, Dakota burger, and croque monsieur, but I was disappointed that the condensed milk butter sandwich and pistachio cream bread were missing. It's understandable since it was a chef's choice set. This place is famous, and all the items were delicious, especially the ones marked with a check. The mentaiko baguette was buttery and juicy, and the Dakota burger had a nice balance of meatiness and crunchy vegetables. I removed the raw vegetables and reheated it, and the bread was crispy and tasty. The scones, bostock, and the mysterious berry bread reminded me of similar items from other bakeries. It seems like this place excels in savory items. I would like to try other burgers when the line isn't as long, maybe around 20 minutes. Thank you for the meal!

I arrived at Amamudakotan on the first day of the 3-day weekend, Friday, around 11:30, but didn't finish my purchase until about an hour later. When I entered the store, there were rows of breads that I didn't see often, making it hard to decide. I bought the Dakotan Burger with the store's name on it, and the Thick-cut Bacon Burger with thick bacon. I also bought other items, but everything I ate was really delicious. There are no bad choices. For those who don't want to wait in line, I recommend making a reservation in advance.

I finally visited Amamudakotan, a bakery that I've been wanting to go to as a bread lover! I tried various items, but I found that the savory bread was more delicious than the sweet ones. I went around 1 pm on a weekday and didn't have to wait much, about 10 minutes before entering the store. The store was a bit smaller than I expected, but there was a wide variety of bread displayed, which got me excited. I want to go back to try the bread that I didn't get to eat this time! The prices overall are not cheap, but it's worth it.笑

On a regular morning, when I was walking nearby, I saw a line... I wondered what it was for, and it turned out to be a bakery with people lining up before opening. It was about 20 minutes before opening time, and there were already 7-8 groups in line. I decided to give it a try and joined the line, and more and more people started to join. By the time the store opened, there were more than 10 groups in line. To avoid blocking the road, they cut the line in the middle and reorganized it at a distance. The popular fresh donuts and mentaiko pepperoncino were really delicious.

I went to the store several times, but each time the line was packed all the way to the opposite side of Aoyama Street, so I gave up. It had been 14 months since my last purchase, and even though it was a weekday, the school was on summer break and it was scorching hot. The first time I visited, the line was short, so I lined up at the front of the store line this time. It took over 20 minutes to get inside, where there were groups of 2-4 people, tourists taking their time with photos, and solo customers like me. The staff were arranging freshly baked goods, but there was a bit of confusion. The line didn't move much, probably because of the 2 PM sun hitting the store front and Aoyama Street directly. After making my purchase, I was surprised to see only 4 people in line outside. I bought my favorites: Hojicha dorayaki, Mushroom baket, Eggplant arrabiata, Amazon cacao, Orange bostock, Hazelnut cream, French toast, and Orange quinamman, totaling 3180 yen. They packed everything neatly in plastic bags when I handed them my own bag. No oil stains, everything was perfect. Can't wait to try their refrigerated items and cream-filled pastries next time. Thank you for the delicious treats.
