I went there looking for their famous coffee in September, and it was still crowded. I decided to get some cakes to go, they had chocolate tart and strawberry matcha dacquoise. In August, I was drawn to the peach desserts, but this time I got a strawberry shortcake. It had a delicate sweetness and was delicious.

There is a shop in the underground Porta street of JR Kyoto Station. It is a high-end version of the Doutor Coffee chain. It was Saturday afternoon, but we were seated immediately upon entering the shop. The atmosphere of the shop is different from the regular Doutor. This time, I ordered the set with Oudan egg and wasanbon sugar pudding drink with iced coffee. The food arrived fairly quickly. I tried the pudding, which was not too smooth or old-fashioned, but had a moist texture and was quite delicious. The iced coffee also felt more upscale than the regular Doutor. I paid using my Doutor value card.

I found a shop in the underground Porta street of Kyoto Station. I visited around 10:00, so they only had a morning menu available. The toast was thick and fluffy, providing a satisfying bite. The coffee was delicious as always. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant after 6 pm on a holiday. I was seated promptly without much wait. The interior was surprisingly spacious compared to the entrance. I opted for the freshly baked mille-feuille and drink set, with the option to add a cafe au lait for an additional 200 yen. The mille-feuille consisted of puff pastry with custard cream, strawberry jam, pistachio ice cream, and shaved pistachios on top. The mille-feuille and cafe au lait were both tasty, but they didn't leave a lasting impression on me. The staff varied between being polite and somewhat indifferent. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the café "Kanno Coffee Kyoto Porta Store" in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City. Kanno Coffee is known for its dedication to Japanese coffee enthusiasts, with a Factory & Lab in front of Gakugei University in Tokyo. The Kyoto Porta store has a luxurious and calming atmosphere that reflects the purity of the ancient capital.
Cake Set 1100 yen:
- Strawberry and Uji Matcha Dacquoise: A cake that embodies the essence of Kyoto. The Dacquoise base made with Uji matcha is filled with matcha cream and strawberries. The subtle bitterness of matcha and the acidity of strawberries create an elegant flavor.
- Iced Coffee: The coffee is carefully blended to ensure a delicious taste when served over ice. It has a hint of sweetness and a gentle aroma, with an elegant and floral taste.
The café also offers light meals, with a wide variety of drinks and food on the menu. It seems to be a very popular spot, as there was a line of people waiting outside. The cakes and coffee were delicious, making the wait worthwhile.

I stopped by this cafe on the way back from a trip to Kyoto with my parents. It's located in Porta. Since it was in the evening, all the cafes were crowded with a waiting list. This place also had a wait of about 7 people. I didn't know about this cafe before, but they have a website where you can buy coffee online. I tried their original blend and chestnut Mont Blanc. The Mont Blanc had a rich chestnut flavor and was incredibly delicious. It was quite large, so I shared it with my mother and father. And the coffee was really easy to drink and delicious, I even thought about buying some to take home (but forgot). I would like to visit again when I'm in the area next time.

I stopped by with a friend. I was drawn to the sign for Mont Blanc. The Mont Blanc, which seemed to be made with Japanese chestnuts, was not too sweet, and the ice cream underneath was sweet and very delicious. I ordered a set with a divine roasted coffee. It had a very refreshing taste. It was nice to sit in the open cafe, and it wasn't too crowded, so it was comfortable.

I usually go for lunch. It's the farthest area, so other shops had a wait, but this one was empty and I got in right away. I was in a hurry, but I ordered the pancakes that take 15-20 minutes. I heard that most other people were also ordering pancakes. They arrived in 20 minutes. They were really hot and fresh. The surface was crispy, and the inside was fluffy. It was quite oily, but considering the location, a single pancake for 700 yen is reasonable, and it's a hidden gem.

I had some time before catching the train from Kyoto Station, so I decided to take a break here. The place is located in the underground shopping area called Porta directly connected to Kyoto Station. The shop has a cafe chain atmosphere. I ordered the Awadama egg and wasanbon sugar pudding with iced tea. I expected the pudding to be very sweet since it had wasanbon sugar in its name, but it was surprisingly not too sweet. The taste of the egg was distinct and the texture was firm, which I liked. It's a convenient spot to visit when using Kyoto Station.

I decided to spend some time at Porta in Nagoya before heading back from Kyoto. The new Porta looks nice! The shops seem to have changed a bit. I heard about a place called "Kanno Coffee Porta Store" recently, so I decided to go in. There are quite a few seats here. I sat at a table in the back of the L-shaped store. It's an odd time, so I'll just have some tea, but the sandwiches and light meals look delicious. However, the prices are a bit high overall. I ordered a Vienna coffee (¥780). However, the staff didn't come over for a while, so I had to go to the kitchen to place my order. There may be too few staff for this space. The Vienna coffee with a lovely rose cream was served! It's cute. I enjoyed it while stirring it into the coffee. I was feeling exhausted from walking, but I was able to cool down. You bring the wooden clog keychain to the register to pay. Thank you for the meal. *Payment made with au pay*

I was just planning to cool off with an iced coffee while feeling the "wa" of Kyoto, but I couldn't resist ordering the "dashimaki tamago sandwich" once I heard the name. The dashimaki tamago sandwich was absolutely delicious, and I realized after finishing it all that I forgot to take a photo... That's how delicious it was. It was completely different from a regular egg sandwich, and I was tempted to order more, but I decided to save it for my next visit to Kyoto. The iced coffee was served in a chilled tin mug with a deep flavor, and I was also satisfied with that. It was a delightful experience that added to the excitement of visiting Kyoto again.

This time, I visited Kanno Coffee located at 902 Higashishio-koji-cho, Karasuma-dori, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto Station Underground Mall Porta. It's a great place to cool down while waiting for the Shinkansen. The entrance has a traditional Japanese atmosphere, creating a calm and peaceful ambiance. The café offers a variety of sweets like matcha roll cake and shortcake. The interior is also calming and inviting. I ordered a standard iced coffee, served in a tin glass for a touch of luxury. It was rich in flavor with a strong bitterness, just the way I like it. The menu also includes sandwiches, pancakes, and curry, making it suitable for a wide range of dining purposes. The cute geta keychain at the checkout added a nice Kyoto touch to the experience. Delicious meal, thank you!

Doutor's premium café brand, Kanno Coffee, which combines the techniques cultivated over 50 years, has opened in Kyoto Porta. The concept is "Japanese coffee for Japanese people," offering coffee that can only be enjoyed here. Their in-house roasted coffees include the Guatemala Geisha variety "Hiiri" with a rose-like aroma, and the El Salvador Tipica blend "Tsukiiri" with acidity and sweetness. I ordered the morning special, the "Dashimaki Tamago Sandwich" (900 yen), which features a fluffy dashimaki tamago with kombu and bonito dashi, and a mustard butter in a classic Japanese-style sandwich. It comes with salad and coffee.

Cake set for 1100 yen. I remember when the store opened on Karasuma, it was so expensive, but it wasn't that high this time. The set includes a choice of three different coffees: God, Sun, and Moon. God is the regular blend, Sun has acidity, and Moon is bitter. You can also choose between Darjeeling and Earl Grey tea. The atmosphere feels luxurious with unique details like using geta straps instead of paper receipts. The chairs are like single-person sofas without armrests, allowing you to relax with your legs stretched out. The coffee is served on a tray, and the red table adds a nice touch, complementing the black tables. It feels like they are inspired by lacquerware. I thought this was a Tokyo-based store, but it seems to have originated in Kyoto. The coffee has a strong aroma and a slightly sour taste, which may not suit everyone. Next time, I'll try the tea. The shortcake had a coarse texture that I didn't like. If using strawberries, they should be slightly acidic, or the cake should be less sweet. The pancakes smelled delicious, so I might try that next time. It would be nice if they served the cake and coffee together instead of separately. I appreciate having a different option from Starbucks after the renovation at Porta.

This is a high-end version of the Doutor Coffee chain. I was seated inside the store and noticed that the atmosphere was different from regular Doutor stores. I ordered a cake set with strawberry and Uji matcha dark wafers, and chose iced coffee as my drink. The order arrived fairly quickly. The cake was quite delicious, and the iced coffee felt more upscale compared to regular Doutor stores. I was able to pay using my Doutor Value Card since it is part of the Doutor Coffee chain.

This is a cafe that was newly renovated. I visited the Shijo branch for lunch and had the same thing as before. I had the Okutanba egg and wasanbon sugar pudding, cold-brewed Darjeeling black tea. I was seated at a table for one, which felt a bit cramped when ordering dessert in addition to drinks. However, there weren't many customers at that time, so it was a relaxed atmosphere. The pudding had a clean and refreshing taste, and I balanced it out with sweetened iced tea. This cafe is convenient as it offers light meals and desserts. (#^^#)

I visited the store in March 2022. It is located in the underground mall Porta at Kyoto Station. Kyoto has changed drastically due to the coronavirus. Japanese is mostly heard among the various foreign languages such as Chinese and English. Porta has also been renovated to adapt to the coronavirus situation. Previously, this place was a Starbucks where many foreign tourists would drink coffee. Following that, a Japanese-owned coffee shop called Kamino Coffee was opened for Japanese customers. They also offer morning sets, but the prices are generally on the higher side. This time, I ordered a cake set with strawberry and matcha dacquoise and an iced coffee for 1100 yen. Both were delicious, especially the coffee. The iced coffee is a deep-roasted blend mainly using Guatemala beans, creating a rich flavor. They also offer hot coffee with three different roasts: Kamino, Yosino, and Tsukino. They also serve light meals. The place has Wi-Fi, which was convenient. It's a perfect place for Kyoto. I highly recommend it.

Great atmosphere and delicious coffee! The cakes at the Shijo store are also tasty, so I think the ones here are good too. If you're going to have coffee at Porta, this is the place to go.
