I have visited my favorite restaurant, Chandon, many times since they started serving lunch. On this day, I went for a birthday lunch with friends. We originally planned to just have the lunch menu, but ended up adding some delicious grilled meat as well, and had a great time. The staff was great, the food was delicious, the prices were reasonable, and they offer both lunch and dinner options. It's my favorite place! ♡

I used it for dinner. The location is a bit hard to find, but if you leave Demachiyanagi Station on the Keihan Electric Railway and walk straight north along the Eizan Electric Railway tracks for about 300 meters, you will see it. The restaurant is spacious with table seats and tatami mats, and there were many families. Yakiniku and hot pot seem to be famous, so this time I had yakiniku. For starters, I ordered raw senmai, and for meat, I ordered sagari, tongue, kappa, etc. The seasoning was Korean-style? sauce and it was very delicious. The owner? Mama was kind and friendly, so I had a very enjoyable time. Next time, I would like to try the tongue shabu-shabu. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived using public transportation and had to walk about 10 minutes from the nearest station. It was a dark and somewhat unsettling walk with nothing around, but I finally reached the restaurant. It was a bit late, so I was able to get a table easily, but I heard it gets full earlier. Some items were already sold out, but everything I tried was delicious. If I crave for yakiniku again, I might come back here next time.

The food is delicious and the meat is cut very carefully, offering a rich flavor. The dishes made by the owner are also delicious. The stew is tasty, and the side dishes are also good. The sardine soup is very delicious, but I wonder if it's only available during certain seasons. This is a valuable restaurant where you can enjoy not only the meat but also other dishes.

There was a gathering, so I ordered a Chan-chan platter. I also ordered a set of Kimbap. I placed the order around noon, but they kindly accepted it and it was very helpful! It really saved me when I needed it. The kimchi and shrimp jeon were very delicious!

Neighborhood, about a 4-minute walk from home, there is a yakiniku restaurant. It is convenient, but honestly it doesn't have any remarkable features (very cheap, serving unusual cuts of meat, etc.), so I didn't go there often. Recently, I stopped by when I saw a sign that said "Lunch starting." I was curious about what kind of lunch they offer, so I decided to go. Today's special lunch menu includes bibimbap, gyudon, tendon, hormone curry, and five different side dishes. Today, I chose bibimbap. The side dishes were Korean-style with vegetables such as radish, chrysanthemum greens, fish cake, sesame seeds, and chijimi. The soup was a clear pork bone broth with only green onions as toppings. I'm not a big fan of Korean food in general because I find the flavors to be too simple. However, maybe because I don't have it often, today's lunch felt surprisingly fresh. If it weren't for the fact that it's in the neighborhood, I probably wouldn't have gone in, especially if it were in the middle of Kyoto. It was quite delicious and turned out to be a fun lunch. There are more luxurious lunch options available as well, please refer to the photos. Thank you for the meal.

The Kyoto State Guest House is now open to the public, but at that time, admission was by lottery. Despite the scorching heat of 39.1℃, I visited on this day. The furnishings were all top-notch, perfect for entertaining VIP guests visiting Japan. After visiting the Kyoto State Guest House, we moved to a cooler place and enjoyed yakiniku. It was certainly hot, and when you're exhausted, there's nothing like this. Yakiniku Chandan was located a short walk from Demachiyanagi Station on the Keifuku Electric Railroad. It was still early for dinner, so there were plenty of seats available. We immediately toasted with a glass of beer! We savored the beer and fell into a world of silence for a while. Taking a breather, we ordered the Geta Kalbi. We eagerly devoured the meat that arrived. From chuck flap tail, short rib, sirloin, skirt steak... finally, our stomachs started to settle. To finish, we enjoyed the Chandan hot pot with meat, garlic chives, Chinese cabbage, and bean sprouts, with a refreshing spiciness perfect for summer.

I use this restaurant at a pace of about once a month (maybe too much haha). The access to the shop is a 5-10 minute walk from Keihan Demachiyanagi Station. The convenience is not the best, but the shop makes up for it with its great atmosphere. It gets busy with families on weekends, but you can usually get a table anytime on weekdays. They have a wide variety of dishes, including regular menu items and daily specials. I usually focus on the hormone dishes, such as salted tongue, juicy tetchan, tripe, thin slices, kimchi assortment, raw liver, stone-grilled bibimbap... Among the recommended dishes, you can't go wrong with any of the meat options. The meat, like kappa salt-grilled and yummy harami, is sliced nicely for easy eating. But what really hooks me are the raw liver and stone-grilled bibimbap. I've been to many barbecue places, but the raw liver here is the best. It's thickly sliced with a crispy texture and no unpleasant smell, even my friend who doesn't usually eat liver always has it here. Furthermore, the stone-grilled bibimbap is the best I've had. The namul seasoning is normal, but the rice is perfectly crispy. In other places, I often find the rice lacking in crispiness, but here it's perfectly burnt without being black. I highly recommend trying it. Additionally, I want to mention the excellent service at the restaurant. The staff is friendly, greets you warmly, and never forgets to say a word to regular customers. It's truly a feel-good restaurant.

I recently visited a gourmet restaurant in Ukyo with a dentist whom I've been getting along well with. The location is easy to find for us locals - you head north on Kawabata Street from Demachiyanagi Station, turn right just before Lawson, and you'll see it right next to the railroad crossing. This restaurant has been getting a lot of attention lately. When we visited on a Monday night, it was almost full by 8:30 pm. We were seated at a table for 10 people. We started with a toast with beer and waited for the arrival of the beef tongue salt. The thick-cut beef tongue was delicious, with a clean taste. Next, we had salted beef loin and ribs. Then we moved on to the hot pot and grilled meat with sauce. We enjoyed different cuts of meat in small slices, giving an elegant dining experience. The side dishes like kimchi and namul had a light seasoning, different from those made with MSG. The hot pot was slightly spicy with bean sprouts, garlic chives, and offal. It took some time to cook due to low heat, but it was delicious. For the finale, we had cold noodles, bibim noodles, kimbap, and dessert, costing around 5000 yen per person. It was a satisfying meal. The restaurant is only a 10-minute bike ride away, so I feel like it will be a convenient place to visit in the future.

When asked about the location of Chandan, it is the closest place after crossing the railroad crossing to the east from the signal on the north side of Kamigamo Police Station. You can see a sign right at the railroad crossing. The restaurant is spacious with tatami seating, tables, and a counter that is not used much. Their dishes are excellent, especially the popular steamed tail and samgyetang, which sell out quickly and are hidden gems worth trying. The grilled meat with a well-balanced sauce enhances the flavor of the meat. Overall, the meat here has a firm texture and a rich taste. The specialty dish is Chandan hot pot, a hot pot with offal and vegetables in a special soup that is perfectly balanced and delicious. The porridge served at the end is exquisite, making the vegetables and offal feel like a prelude. Especially on holidays, the place is full of local families, so reservations are essential.
