I have used this shop on the 3rd floor of a commercial building several times in the past. They serve Kirin Lager bottled beer. I ordered seafood grilled dish and tofu steak as side dishes. The shop is not usually crowded, possibly because it is located in a commercial building. The table seats are relatively spacious, which is a reason why I keep coming back. I ordered Takoyaki (750 yen), which came with both sweet and spicy sauces on each table for customization. The fact that the tonkatsu is not made from powder is a plus for me. The taste can be described as a traditional okonomiyaki with less of a Kansai flavor.

After getting a haircut, I went to a okonomiyaki restaurant called "Tonchinkan" with my hairdresser friend. The cost performance was good and the taste was great. It was rare to find monjayaki in Kyoto. The people around us all ordered monjayaki. As two old men from Kyoto, we didn't know how to eat it and had never tried it before, so we stuck to the usual yakisoba, negiyaki (loaded with Kujo negi, delicious!), butatama, and a little bit of rice. We finished off with yakionigiri and geso kimchi. The staff were friendly and had a good vibe!

The owner places the okonomiyaki they baked on the hot plate. The menu was extensive, but I chose the mix okonomiyaki, negi-yaki, shoyu tonpei, and suji-yaki. The suji-yaki was especially delicious! The mix okonomiyaki had a thin batter which was great. The total cost was around 3200 yen, which was a good deal. Since it's in Kyoto, you can't miss out on the negi-yaki.

I want sauce!! So I searched for it. I had negiyaki with soy sauce, betayaki with sauce. I also had tonpeiyaki and sujiyaki. After ordering, they cook it and bring it to your table. The hot iron plate keeps the food warm. The negiyaki was fluffy and delicious! I devoured it. The betayaki was crispy and I liked it. Both dishes had lots of vegetables, so I finished them quickly. It was delicious, thank you for the meal!

I searched for okonomiyaki on Google Maps and went to the closest place without a reservation. The restaurant had a small number of seats, but I was able to get in without waiting. I ordered various dishes such as squid, tonpei, and okonomiyaki. I was a bit surprised when they brought yakisoba instead of what I had expected from the squid. Everything was delicious but nothing stood out as particularly good or bad. Personally, I prefer okonomiyaki that is a bit more fluffy.

Beef tendon kimchi for 649 yen. The tendons are carefully prepared, unexpectedly soft and tender with no unpleasant smell. Okonomiyaki mix ball (with pork, squid, shrimp, and octopus) for 1078 yen. The batter is crispy and chewy just as I like it. The teppan grill is hot enough to cook the dishes to perfection.

This place is cheap and reliably delicious. I went with friends from my student days. We went for lunch and, as expected, it was full. On this day, we ordered monjayaki and grilled beef with green onions. I ordered the simplest monjayaki, but it was full of ingredients and very satisfying. This place is really cheap and tasty.

I visited the restaurant on Friday, October 21, 2022, during lunchtime. There were only two other customers when I arrived, so I was able to choose my favorite table to sit at. I noticed that there was a lunch menu in front of the store, which seemed to offer a choice between okonomiyaki or yakisoba with rice, miso soup, or salad as a set. I ordered okonomiyaki with rice and miso soup. It took about 10 minutes for it to be placed on the teppan grill in front of me. It was a Kansai-style okonomiyaki. I enjoyed it with bonito flakes, seaweed, and mayonnaise on top. The okonomiyaki was really delicious. I recommend visiting during lunchtime.

I used to come here often for lunch and dinner since I was a student. This is a place where you can easily and deliciously enjoy monjayaki. The seats are full even at lunchtime, showing that it is a popular restaurant. The monjayaki is delicious, and the okonomiyaki is also good with a light and fluffy texture.

Kawaramachi "Tonchinkan" is aiming for a goal of 150 locations per year, and today is another day for okonomiyaki! For lunch, we headed to Tonchinkan for a meeting. Located on the third floor of a building near Kane-yo on Rokkaku Street, it may be easy to miss, but okonomiyaki bloggers do not overlook it. The restaurant has a good number of seats, including sunken tatami seating and table seating, all with partitions for added privacy. The menu includes Osaka-style okonomiyaki, Kyoto-style betayaki, Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, and monjayaki. The prices are reasonable, starting at 700 yen for the Butatama okonomiyaki. The okonomiyaki is fluffy with a well-seasoned batter, making it delicious even without sauce. The Monjayaki is also recommended, with various toppings available for an additional 100 yen each. The restaurant also offers other dishes like the Mentai Yakisoba, Negiyaki, and the Sujikon. Overall, the food was unexpectedly delicious and reasonably priced. In the evening, they have great course options for a cost-effective drinking party.

Located not far from Kawaramachi Sanjo, this restaurant is on the 3rd floor up the straight staircase with no elevator. I visited just after opening at around 11:30 am, with only one group of customers already there, a school trip group. There are great value lunch sets available, but the extensive menu made it hard to choose. I decided on a basic monjayaki with toppings of shrimp, potatoes, Baby Star noodles, curry, egg, and mochi, along with a mountain-style okonomiyaki. The steam rising from the hot plate was amazing, and I enjoyed the dish hot until the very end. There are both table and tatami seating options, and a wide selection of alcoholic beverages available.

A few years ago when I visited Kyoto, I went to a restaurant that was recommended in a guidebook and the food was so delicious that I had to come back. Whenever I can't decide where to have dinner, I always end up here. I love okonomiyaki. The sweetness of the cabbage, the slightly crispy outside, and the egg mixed in make it so tasty. I enjoy it while it's piping hot. The fluffy texture when it's hot is truly delicious! Thank you for the meal!

The monjayaki arrived in a ready-to-cook state. The other flour dishes were also very delicious.

I came here because I wanted to eat monjayaki. I ordered the basic base with Baby Star as a topping, and also ordered sujiyaki. It was delicious, but not better than expected.

I visited the restaurant on a snowy day and had a great time. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was warm. I tried two different kinds of monjayaki, which my friend had recommended. Both dishes were delicious and went well with beer. The one topped with Baby Star noodles had a nostalgic taste that reminded me of traditional street food. I wish there were more appetizers available, but everything we tried was tasty. I would love to visit again.
