We ordered a course meal for around 5,000 yen per person! There were 1 man and 2 women, and we all left feeling quite full. The food was delicious! The path from the entrance to the back of the restaurant felt very narrow! Other than that, everything was great!

I visited the Charcoal Grilled Chicken and Kiyamachi Sanjo store based on the reviews of people I follow. I was able to enter without a reservation, even though I visited suddenly alone. I ordered: - Kyoto Jidori Chicken Thigh 1 skewer (418 yen) - Bonjiri (chicken tail) with salt 1 skewer (198 yen) - Chicken tenderloin 1 skewer (220 yen) - Chicken skin 1 skewer (198 yen) - Special Tsukune (chicken meatball) 1 skewer (374 yen) - Smoked Potato Salad with a hint of smoke flavor (682 yen) - Yatko (tofu) 1 dish (495 yen) - Beer (aroma ale) 2 glasses (649 yen each) - Eikun cold sake 1 cup (1,089 yen) Total came to about 5,322 yen in less than an hour. The food was very delicious, especially the tsukune which had a fluffy texture. It would have been more enjoyable if I had more time to drink slowly. There were also foreign customers enjoying the yakitori. The only thing that bothered me a little was when the staff asked if I wanted sauce or salt, it would have been better if they were more discreet about it. However, the food was really delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Charcoal-grilled chicken skewers, from regular cuts to rare cuts, mostly salt-grilled, were delicious. The tsukune, which is dipped in egg yolk, is amazing. The clay pot rice took an hour to make, as we had to order it first. The homemade pudding was too sweet, so next time I'll ask for it without caramel.

Intense Oyakodon and Charcoal Grilled Skewers at Torito Sanjo Store in Kyoto ❤️ My pick! Bonjiri, skin, wings, etc... Oyakodon with egg yolk ❤️ A charcoal grilled skewer restaurant that focuses on Binchotan charcoal and domestic chicken. They have three stores: Kawaramachi Marutamachi, Shijo Karasuma, and Kawaramachi Sanjo. This time, I visited the Kawaramachi Sanjo store. The interior is filled with bottles and glasses of shochu. They have regular Oyakodon, but the first photo is the "Oyakodon with egg yolk." As a big fan of eggs, I went there for this dish. The egg yolk is so rich and delicious. Of course, we also ordered yakitori. The meat is juicy and seasoned perfectly with salt. The bonjiri has a hint of miso and a crispy texture. The special tsukune with cartilage adds a unique texture. Everything was delicious as always. The restaurant is always packed, but the popularity is evident in the taste. It's a wonderful place that focuses on chicken, as the name "Torito" suggests. Restaurant Name: Charcoal Grilled Skewers Torito Sanjo Store Reservations: Available Access: - 2 minutes walk from Kyoto City Hall subway station - 3 minutes walk from Sanjo station on the Keihan line 167m from Kyoto City Hall subway station Hours: 17:30-23:00 (LO.22:30) Closed: Irregularly #Torito

We arrived before 8:00 PM and it was our second stop of the night, but unfortunately the specialty chicken was sold out. We ended up ordering regular yakitori instead, which came in sets of two. They were cooked over charcoal, but the meat lacked juiciness and the grilling was not up to par. We also ordered fried cartilage, but it was also disappointing. Whether the meat was frozen or the dishes were prepared by inexperienced staff, we couldn't finish anything except the salad. We quickly asked for a refill on our drinks and left. It's a shame because the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, the staff were friendly, and the location was great. We realized that this is not a place where locals go, but more geared towards tourists.

The taste of the yakitori was quite ordinary, overall slightly greasy. The tsukune (chicken meatballs) was not particularly delicious. The chicken gozen rice in a clay pot was incredibly tasty! Every staff member seemed to lack consideration in their customer service. The person in charge, who I assumed was the manager, didn't seem to care much about the customers or staff, giving off the impression of just focusing on running the restaurant as an employee. The most concerning thing was that despite being a yakitori restaurant, all the seats at the counter were too cold and I was shivering. I was surprised that there were no lap blankets. Every time a new customer sat at the counter, they complained about the cold and requested for the door to be closed or for lap blankets, but they were not provided. Even though I asked for the heating to be turned up, I didn't feel any difference. Being in the restaurant was quite uncomfortable. I felt that the prices were slightly high for the level of satisfaction, so I won't be visiting again.

This is the most user-friendly restaurant among Torito's stores, considering its location and size. If you're going to the Karasuma store, this is the one to go to even if you have to take a taxi. They have rare cuts and ostrich meat, and their classic salt-grilled dishes are outstandingly delicious. As soon as you sit down, they bring you yakitori with pink pepper as a starter, and it's delicious. The grilling, seasoning, and sauce are all perfect. Just be careful because the mustard with the sauce is extremely spicy! I ate until I was almost in pain today, but I'm satisfied. The taste is unquestionably good, but the cramped seating around the counter and the lack of exceptional service make it a 3.5-star rating. But I'll say it again, the taste is unquestionably good.

Toritosan's group is wonderful except for one store (Karasuma). This store was my first time visiting, but the private rooms in the back were convenient and satisfying. It can be used for family gatherings, and the taste is of the same quality as other stores. This is actually important. It's best to have consistent taste across affiliated stores. Unfortunately, they were out of ostrich and twisted chicken today, which slightly lowered the satisfaction. However, everything else was very delicious. If you want to eat yakitori in Kyoto, this is the place. You can't go wrong.

The day after returning from a long business trip, I felt like eating yakitori, so my husband and I made a reservation and visited the restaurant. It is located a little east of Kawaramachi. The interior has a counter and tables in the back. It is more spacious than it looks from the outside. The counter near the entrance is narrow, but it adds to the cozy atmosphere. We ordered the following: - Draft beer (540 yen) - Aromatic ale (540 yen) - Oolong tea (324 yen) - Chicken ponzu salad (249 yen x 2) - Chicken thigh (195 yen x 2) - Negima (chicken and leek skewers) (173 yen x 2) - Tsukune (chicken meatballs) (303 yen x 2) - Chicken tartare (206 yen x 2) We ordered yakitori by the pair. We also had: - Ostrich seared steak (1,296 yen) - Watercress salad (843 yen) - Fried chicken skin with ponzu sauce (497 yen) Every dish was delicious and carefully prepared. The yakitori was juicy and the sauce had the perfect balance of sweetness and richness. Eating yakitori truly made me feel happy. The attention to detail in grilling and seasoning was evident. The ostrich was surprisingly delicious, with a strong charcoal aroma, tender texture, and just the right amount of fat. I had never tried it before, but now I want more. It was a pleasant surprise and I can see myself craving it again. It pairs well with alcohol. It was a delightful meal. Thank you.

I had been wanting to visit this restaurant for a while, and even though I didn't have much time, I decided to go when I found out about their happy hour light drinking set for 1,000 yen. The happy hour set is a special menu available on weekdays from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. I sat at the clean and stylish counter seat and ordered some yakitori. You can choose any drink under 540 yen, so I went with a premium malt beer. Soon, the beer and a small appetizer plate arrived with kimchi and boiled chicken. The boiled chicken had a crunchy texture from the cartilage, and the kimchi had a refreshing crunch from the celery. As I enjoyed my drink and appetizers, the awaited yakitori dishes arrived. Starting with salt-grilled chicken tenderloin, followed by green onion skewers in sauce, and salt-grilled chicken wings. The tenderloin and green onion skewers had a firm and elastic texture, very delicious. My favorite was the chicken wings, juicy and flavorful. I think it's a great deal to enjoy delicious drinks and yakitori for 1,000 yen. Their regular menu includes various dishes like ostrich yukhoe and a wide selection of sake, making me want to visit again and take my time to explore. It's definitely worth a visit.

Rare cuts of meat on skewers can be enjoyed here. I ordered the shoulder meat, large thigh skewer, and meat at the base of the thigh. I really like the texture of the meat. I will definitely order these again next time. I tried ostrich yukke, thigh tataki, and thigh seared steak for the first time. The ostrich meat doesn't have any gamey taste. I was told that ostrich meat is suitable for tataki because ostriches have a high body temperature and fewer bacteria. The sake menu here is extensive, so I ordered a sake tasting set. The manager's selection included Daishichi, Matsumoto, and Suigei. I love Daishichi, so I was excited. The negima (green onion and meat skewers) was cooked perfectly, with a tantalizing aroma from the charred sauce. The special tsukune (chicken meatballs) and tartar chicken were delicious. The refreshing tartar sauce paired well with the chicken fat. The egg-wrapped rice with grated daikon and ponzu sauce was a delightful end to the meal. Finally, I enjoyed a cup of tea. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

The popular restaurant "Torito" in Marutamachi has opened a new branch in Kawaramachi Sanjo. I had a New Year's party with my gourmet friends from the Kyoto Instagram exchange group. We had a leisurely meal in the back room with a kotatsu. We toasted with Amaou strawberry soda and indulged in a variety of grilled chicken dishes. We had a platter of 5 assorted skewers, including rare cuts like chicken oyster and rare thigh meat, as well as other cuts like bonjiri and chicken skin. We also tried a platter of 6 assorted skewers, including Kyoto twist chicken thigh, bonjiri, and chicken tail. For a lighter option, we had a platter of 3 assorted skewers, which included Torito's special meatball, chicken tomato, and quail egg with rare thigh meat. We also enjoyed dishes like chicken neck meatballs, pink ginger-infused tartar chicken skewers, and shiso-wrapped skewers. We also tried ostrich thigh sashimi and seared ostrich steak, which are not commonly found on menus. The staff recommended the bone-in Satsuma chicken soup with mixed rice, which was delicious. We also tried two types of egg over rice dishes, with the marinated egg version being particularly rich and tasty. Overall, we were very satisfied with the unique cuts of meat and creative dishes offered at Torito. It was a fun and enjoyable dining experience.

Location is near Kawaramachi Gojo. It's a branch of the popular yakitori restaurant "Torito". We decided to go without alcohol this time. What we had: - Seseri - Kawa - Shirikawa - Kimo - Bonjiri - Bara - Torito special tsukune The fried chicken thigh skewers made with Tajima chicken are carefully grilled over charcoal after ordering. The bonjiri and bara were juicy and tasty. The kawa was a bit lacking in satisfaction. The fried chicken had a crispy coating and a sweet flavor, very delicious. The yakitori was a bit salty, but it would go well with alcohol. Overall, it's a good casual yakitori restaurant option.

Chicken, chicken, chicken, ostrich, and chicken. There is a nondescript yakitori restaurant in the middle of Kawaramachi Sanjo in Kyoto where you can actually eat rare meats. Ostrich, yes, that famous ostrich meat known for its distinct taste. Ostrich meat has a unique flavor, different from the usual.

I arrived at the restaurant just after it opened at 17:30! The appetizer was thinly sliced rare chicken, which was delicious but surprisingly served on a single plate, which was quite a small portion for five people. We ordered various dishes such as salad, fried chicken, sausages, and yakitori using the app while enjoying some drinks. However, many items were already sold out, including half of the Kyoto chicken and the ostrich. The potato salad tasted like the egg sandwich filling, and the salad with tofu, chicken, and avocado was tasty but had very few vegetables. The regular chicken sausage was sold out, so we ordered the one with Sichuan pepper, which had a strong and somewhat difficult-to-eat flavor due to the large pepper grains. The fried chicken with pickled radish in the coating was slightly sweet and very delicious. The yakitori was average overall, with the tsukune being the most delicious. The negima had a good flavor but was slightly undercooked, leaving some doubts about whether it was intentional or a cooking mistake. The best part of the meal was the tamagokake gohan (rice with raw egg) at the end, which was the most delicious overall, especially the tsukune with the good quality egg. In conclusion, the dishes were priced a bit high considering the portion size and taste, and the service from the staff was not very good, so I am giving a tough evaluation. I don't think I will revisit this restaurant.

The perfectly grilled texture is amazing. The specialty fried cucumbers are also delicious. Finish with a clay pot rice topped with raw egg. This popular restaurant requires reservations.

- The taste of the bird dishes is quite delicious. - Charcoal-grilled dishes and the rare skewers of ostrich are especially tasty. The rare skewers are made with fresh local chicken, so they tend to sell out quickly. It's best to go early to make sure you can get them. - The service is not bad, but it's just average. - The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy, and the semi-private room at the back is nice. The restroom is also clean. - I didn't drink alcohol as I had work after the meal, but they have a wide variety of drinks at reasonable prices. I ordered 5 non-alcoholic beers and they were sold out.

I visited the restaurant after making a reservation. First of all, I couldn't quite figure out the entrance. It had glass sliding doors, but I wasn't sure if that was the entrance (maybe it would be easier to understand if you saw it). Anyway, that's just my opinion haha. I've been to other branches of this restaurant before and I really like them. This time, I stayed in Sanjo and found this place in Kawaramachi Sanjo, so I made a reservation. Looking at the menu, it seemed similar to the menus at other branches. The prices for skewers and grilled items were around 200 yen per skewer, so it's slightly on the expensive side. They have assorted platters which might be easier to order. I wonder if they had any rare cuts or special parts? There were some parts I wasn't familiar with, but the descriptions helped imagine the taste. They also have several types of Kyoto sake, so you can enjoy that as well. The skewers were all delicious and grilled perfectly. However, the seating area was cramped. There were two tatami rooms in the back which might be more spacious, but the counter seating felt a bit tight. So, when trying to go to the restroom, I ended up bumping into things. It seems like the confusing entrance was the reason for this. The service was also a bit curt. They were wearing masks, which made it feel even more so. Overall, the seating, service, and atmosphere were not great, which was disappointing considering the delicious food. It might be okay for a small private party in a private room though.
