"On a holiday food log adventure in Asakusa, visited 'Suzukura Grill' for lunch and had the 'Beef Stew'. Now it's time for dessert! Next stop was 'Jujuen Asakusa Main Store', a popular ice cream and gelato shop located just a minute walk from 'Suzukura Grill'. This place specializes in matcha sweets! Although known for their ice cream, I was intrigued by their dango (sweet rice dumplings) and decided to order it!
[Nearest Station/Location]
I recommend taking the '1st exit' at 'Asakusa Station (Tokyo Metro Ginza Line)'. Walk through the Kaminarimon Gate, proceed straight down Nakamise Street, and then turn right at the next alley on your right. You'll find it in the area behind Asakusa Temple!
[Seating]
The first floor is where you place your order and pick up your items, while the second floor serves as the eat-in space with benches and standing tables. They can accommodate around 30 people.
[Visit Time/Day]
Visited on a Monday afternoon around 1:00 PM. There was a line of about 15 people when I arrived, but I was able to place my order in just over 10 minutes. By the time I left, the line had extended outside with around 25 people waiting.
[Order]
I ordered the '4 Types of Matcha An Dango with Sencha Tea (500 yen tax included)'. My wife ordered the 'Matcha Warabi Mochi Milk (550 yen tax included)'. Most others seemed to be ordering the matcha ice cream.
[Dango and Sencha Tea Impressions]
The dango came with 4 balls, each generously coated with different shades of matcha an. They ranged from light green to a rich dark green, offering a variety of matcha flavors to enjoy. The dango itself was chewy and delicious, and the changing matcha an with each bite was a delightful experience. Personally, I liked the second one with the darker matcha an the most. The sencha tea was a refreshing cold drink, similar in size to a small at a convenience store cafe. It had a crisp, refreshing taste with a hint of bitterness that paired well with the sweet dango.
[Special Mention]
The concept of enjoying 'dango' with 'different types of matcha an' is excellent! The set including a drink (sencha tea) for 500 yen is very reasonable. The ample eat-in space provides a welcoming oasis, especially on hot days. Asakusa is filled with street-side shops, so having a place to relax like this is invaluable."

- Price: Corn Double 590 yen
- Review: Visited Jukukien as the fourth stop of the Asakusa Top 100 Stores hopping tour. It's about a 2-minute walk from Sharaku. Waited in line for a few minutes inside the shop to place an order. Ordered the Corn Double with Matcha No.3 and No.5. No.3 had a good balance of matcha and milk, making it easy to eat. No.5 had a strong matcha flavor with a refreshing aftertaste, which was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I chose the first store for my sweets food walk at a long-established tea shop that offers matcha gelato, Suzuki-en. They have been awarded the title of one of the top 100 stores, so I had high expectations for their gelato. I headed there prepared for crowds, but since it was still in the late morning around 11 o'clock, there wasn't much of a line and I was able to make a purchase without much wait. They offer several different intensities of matcha gelato, as well as flavors like azuki bean and strawberry. A unique item they had was a dango (rice dumpling) with a matcha flavored bean paste gradient. I chose the second darkest matcha gelato, which was rich and flavorful. My friend tried the darkest one and exclaimed, "It tastes just like matcha!" The dango with four different intensities of matcha bean paste was also delicious. I would love to go back and try more. On a side note, walking from Suzuki-en towards Hanayashiki, you will pass by many popular stores where there are usually long lines on weekends. However, on this weekday morning, places like Imo-ya, Skate Masako Coffee, and February Cafe were not crowded. It seems like weekday mornings might be a good time to visit. There are so many dessert shops in the area, it might be impossible to try them all!

・The world's richest "No.7" matcha gelato cone・Hojicha lemon soda *Summer limited drink*・Roasted green tea plum soda *Summer limited drink*I ordered the world's richest matcha gelato, number 7, which is famous at this shop. It is rich in flavor and aroma, allowing you to enjoy the pure taste of matcha, while also being refreshing and delicious. The two summer limited drinks are not too sweet, maintaining the tea flavor while providing a refreshing taste that quenches your thirst. They are perfect as a follow-up to the rich matcha. When you visit Asakusa, I recommend stopping by to try the famous gelato from this renowned shop.

I stopped by this shop nearby and it was crowded with foreigners during lunchtime on a weekday. I ordered the following:
- Warabi Mochi Milk Matcha Warabi for 550 yen (tax included)
After paying, I waited for it to be made in the back of the shop and received it. It's a drink with rich, high-quality matcha milk with lots of small pieces of warabi mochi. When you drink it with a thick straw, the warabi mochi rolls into your mouth, which is really fun. The matcha milk itself is delicious, definitely worth waiting in line for this drink. I enjoyed it. Thank you for the meal.

Even though it was raining, there was a long line. There were many tourists and foreigners. You can eat on the second floor, but there are hardly any seats, so you have to eat standing up. You can choose the strength of the matcha, so I chose the second strongest. I couldn't relax, but it was delicious. Next time, I want to try the rice cakes and other things.

Arrived on Thursday morning at 10:55 am. Was surprised by the long line! About 20-25 people in line? Waited for about 5 minutes and then it started moving smoothly. Managed to get inside, but had to wait for about 15-20 minutes for my turn for ordering and making. Chose a single scoop of level 7 world's richest matcha gelato in a cone for 680 yen. Went upstairs to eat after paying. Maybe to avoid trouble with neighbors, they prefer customers to eat inside. The matcha gelato looked very rich, and I think it was the most delicious matcha gelato I've ever had in my life. It was delicious - thank you! I will definitely go again when it's less crowded. ^_^

Ice gelato shop ranked among the top 100 in the world, selling the most concentrated matcha gelato. There was a line of about 15 people after 12 pm on weekdays, but the turnover was fast. I paid 660 yen for the world's most concentrated matcha gelato, and about 90% of the customers were foreigners. The shop was packed with customers eating in twice. The intensity of the matcha gelato ranges from no.1 to no.7, with the world's most concentrated one being no.7. Although there wasn't much difference in taste between no.6 and the one before it, the world's no.7 product was definitely intense. But saying it's the best in the world really makes a difference. Being number one is always a good thing. The gelato was not too intense, not bitter, and delicious. Thank you for the meal.

This is a gelateria specializing in matcha and various tea flavors located in Asakusa. The most popular flavor is No7, which is recommended by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and it seems that many foreigners come here and try all of that flavor. Personally, I think having too much tea can make it hard to fully enjoy the gelato, so I really enjoyed the double genmaicha flavor.

I visited the ice cream and gelato shop "Jukki-en Asakusa Main Store" with a rating of 3.61 on Tabelog in 2023. The location is in the backstreets of Asakusa, a bit away from Senso-ji Temple. The exterior is a street-level shop along a main road, and it's filled with foreigners. You can buy on the first floor and eat on the second floor. The matcha green tea is popular among foreigners, and you can choose the intensity level. I ordered a double cone with the lightest and strongest green tea flavors. It's enjoyable to contrast the colors and flavors. Tourists would definitely love this place, don't you think?

Since last year, beyond Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, there is always a line at this Jukkien Asakusa Main Store! I thought it was a tea shop, but it's actually a popular tea specialty gelato shop, with different levels of matcha intensity and hojicha gelato. They also offer sets with dango and tea, and you can enjoy your purchase in the eat-in space on the second floor. I chose the most popular No.5 (sorry if it's confusing, it's the intensity of the matcha) matcha gelato. It's so hot these days that I wanted to eat it in a cone, but I had to settle for a cup. By the time I reached the second floor, it had already started to melt slightly! The level 5 matcha flavor was not too bitter and not too light, just a perfect balance. It's rare to find a place to sit and eat in Asakusa, so I really appreciated it. They also had a limited edition "sunflower dango" with tea, which caught my eye, but I started with the gelato since they were selected as one of the top 100 gelato shops. Thank you for the treat.

After having Western food in Asakusa, we decided to have some sweets nearby. There is a shop located along the Koto-dori street, across from Asakusa Temple Hospital. When we arrived around 12:00 pm on a weekend, we were given a numbered ticket and told to come back between 12:20 and 12:35. We took a stroll around the area and returned to the shop around 12:25, where we were then seated inside. There was a line inside as well, and we waited for about 10 minutes before we could make a purchase. Interestingly, they do not allow takeout, probably to avoid littering in the neighborhood, so we had to eat our purchases in the second-floor dining area. We ordered the "Matcha Gelato No.7 (single cup)" for 660 yen and the "Matcha Gelato No.2 (single cup)" for 450 yen to compare. The "No.7" was advertised as the "world's richest matcha gelato," and while we can't confirm that claim, it was indeed very rich. However, it didn't have a particularly unique taste that would make you go "Wow!" It was just rich and delicious. The "No.2" was a more standard matcha ice cream, without any distinctive flavors, suitable for everyone to enjoy. Overall, it's not a must-visit spot in Asakusa, but it's a nice place to stop by while sightseeing.

About 8 minutes away from Asakusa Station on the Tokyo Metro, the Asakusa Station on the Tsukuba Express feels a bit closer. This shop is located along Gomondori Street on the north side of Senso-ji Temple. It was a very hot day, and I was drawn in by the ice cream. However, it was very crowded, so I was given a numbered ticket and had to return 30 minutes later. I tried two flavors, numbered "1" and "7", based on the intensity of matcha. The second floor served as an eat-in space, but there were few chairs so I ended up eating standing. The matcha was indeed rich and good, but personally, I feel like the matcha ice cream I had at the station building in Takasaki (Chaki Chi at Takasaki Monterey) was more delicious.

A shop in Asakusa where you can enjoy the popular "world's richest matcha gelato". This shop offers a collaboration gelato between the long-established tea shop "Jukoen," which has been selecting tea leaves from all over Japan for 150 years since the Edo period, and the Shizuoka-based matcha sweets specialty shop "Nanaya". The matcha gelato is divided into 7 levels of richness, from NO.1 to NO.7, with NO.7 being considered the limit of richness. By using special tea leaves, they have surpassed this limit and offer up to NO.7. It's a secret that you can also taste the same thing at "Nanaya". Location: 8 minutes walk from Asakusa Station Opening hours: 11:00-17:00, open on Sundays Closed irregularly. I visited in the afternoon on a holiday. I waited for about 20 minutes with a numbered ticket system. Today, I ordered a Double Cup (¥750) + Sencha (¥300). Located behind Senso-ji Temple, this shop seems to have a strong connection with "Nanaya" and is popular among foreigners. With a numbered ticket system, you hand in your ticket when your time comes and enter the shop. The matcha ice cream comes in 7 levels, from NO.1 to NO.7, with only NO.7 using the highest quality tea leaves from a tea plantation that won the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Award, making it unique. This time, I ordered the Matcha NO.7 -PREMIUM- and Hojicha. The Matcha NO.7 has an intense tea leaf flavor, like vacuum-packing tea leaves directly into ice cream, with a deep richness that includes both bitterness and sweetness. The Hojicha ice cream had a refreshing and fragrant taste. The Sencha was lighter than expected, easy to drink, and had a pleasant sweetness from the tea leaves.

Located a 8-10 minute walk from Asakusa Station, Jubokien Asakusa Main Store is a gelato specialty shop known for serving the world's richest matcha ice cream. It has been selected as one of the top 100 ice cream and gelato shops in 2023. As expected of a shop in one of Japan's top tourist spots, there was already a long line before opening, mainly consisting of tourists. Even on a weekday at 11 am, the line was so long that it couldn't fit inside the store. After waiting for about 20 minutes, I finally got to purchase my ice cream. I ordered a double scoop of Matcha No.7 and No.3, along with a hojicha ice cream. You order on the first floor and then go up to the second floor to enjoy your ice cream at a table. The higher the number, the richer the matcha flavor, with the top-tier No.7 using high-quality matcha from a tea plantation that won the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Award. No.7 had almost no sweetness, leaving a lingering rich bitterness of matcha in the mouth. On the other hand, No.3 had a balanced sweetness from the milk, giving it a more dessert-like finish. I recommend ordering a combination of the rich bitter matcha and the mellow matcha to experience the best of both worlds! This shop offers a rare opportunity to compare different matcha gelato flavors, so be sure to visit. Bon appétit!

We visited the Asakusa main store of Jyukkenen, a shop where you can explore spots that embody the culture of the downtown area. They have been selected as one of the Top 100 Ice Cream and Gelato Shops in 2023 on Tabelog. The store opened in February 2013 and is located about an 8-minute walk from Asakusa Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line and Tobu Skytree Line. It is also within walking distance from Asakusa Station on the Tsukuba Express. The store faces Koto Dori Street and offers a view of the Skytree from the storefront. The interior of the store is predominantly brown and they also sell tea and tea utensils. They have been featured on TV as well. One of their famous items is the "World's Richest" matcha gelato created in collaboration with Nanaya. Today, we tried the following menu items:
- Double No.6 Matcha: You can choose the intensity of the matcha flavor, and this time we chose No. 6 from a range of No. 1 to No. 7. It has a vibrant green color and a very rich matcha flavor.
- Dainagon Azuki Bean Gelato: This has a delightful blend of azuki bean aroma and rich vanilla flavor, which pairs well with the matcha gelato. Thank you for the meal.

In August, during summer vacation, there was a long line at the ice cream and gelato shop, which is one of the top 100 shops. Maybe because it was a weekday? Or maybe because it's a popular spot? More than half of the people waiting were foreign tourists. The shop was full, so I got a ticket and went to a nearby fruit parlor to have a parfait while waiting. When I came back, I joined the line at the end with my ticket. There were over 30 people ahead of me. As I got closer to my turn, I could see the ice cream fridge. The matcha intensity ranged from 1 to 7, with 1 being the mildest and 7 the strongest. Prices ranged from ¥450 for levels 1-6 to ¥660 for level 7. I chose level 6, which was closer to 1 and had more milkiness. The taste was better than I expected, with a strong matcha aroma and flavor. It felt like I was not in Japan, which I enjoyed because I have a longing to live in a foreign country. The atmosphere was great. Even if you don't like sweet things, you would probably enjoy this ice cream. They also had hojicha and Japanese black tea flavors, as well as a set with dango (rice dumplings). I wanted to try the matcha drink too, but the line was too long, so I gave up and went home. It's very popular!

Visited on August 8, 2023. Came to try the gelato offered by a tea shop in the area known as the back of Kannon in Asakusa. A banner outside the shop read "The most intense gelato in the world." There was a line forming inside the shop, but at this time there were only about 7 or 8 people, so it was relatively empty. They offer matcha gelato ranging from No.1 to No.7, with options for single or double scoops in cups or cones.
Matcha Gelato Double - No.1 and No.7 750 yen
Selected the most contrasting two flavors. The line kept growing while we waited, and the shop became very crowded. Currently, takeout seems to be suspended, so all customers are directed to the second floor for dining in. I went upstairs with my cup, but it was also full. There were only three long benches, so I ended up standing at a counter-like spot by the window to enjoy the gelato. It felt like they opened the second floor because they couldn't offer takeout. It was a bit plain and disappointing, but understandable. The premium No.7 was indeed a rich matcha flavor unlike any I've had elsewhere. It was a stark contrast to the subtly fragrant No.1, but I also think it would have been good paired with a non-matcha gelato. Thanks to the staff who were working hard with a small team.

From Asakusa Station, there is a super popular shop located behind Senso-ji Temple. When it comes to matcha, it sells like crazy in this location. The atmosphere on the second floor for dining in is incredible. It's like a melting pot of different races, symbolizing the town of Asakusa. Of course, I had no.7 and my partner had Japanese black tea this time.

I visited a highly-rated restaurant on Tabelog to see if it was really delicious. [Before entering] I arrived around 4:00 PM on a weekday and waited in line for about 10 minutes. [Inside the restaurant] There were about 7 seats at the counter and bench seats. The counter was standing room only, and everyone was considerate of each other. There were many foreign customers, and the space was quite cramped. [Order] Matcha No.7 (Single cone): 650 yen [Appearance/Taste] I was hesitant, but decided to try the top-ranked No.7. No.7 was surprisingly rich and intense. The matcha flavor was strong with a noticeable bitterness over sweetness. Honestly, I was taken aback by the bitterness and struggled a bit. This level of bitterness didn't suit me. [Overall impression] It seems that the popular flavors are No.2 to No.5, where the sweetness may complement the taste better. The restaurant is always crowded, so it may not be a place to relax and take your time. Next time, I want to try a double scoop to enjoy both sweetness and bitterness. Thank you for the meal.

Located behind Senso-ji Temple, this shop offers matcha gelato with the cashier on the first floor and seating on the second floor. I ordered the No.7 matcha gelato, which is slightly more expensive but worth it. The matcha flavor is intense but not bitter or heavy. If you want to taste high-quality matcha gelato, this is the place to go.
