I finally made it to this place that I've been curious about for a while. First for a media coverage, then personally. The interior that tourists would love is very nice, and the Instagrammable drinks are great. This time, I wanted to try the fish that I couldn't see during the coverage. So, I had the homemade ginger syrup shandygaff, sashimi, and couldn't resist ordering the Kachidoki skewers because they were so delicious. The sashimi had a generous amount of slices for the price, and they were fresh with good fat content. What's great about this place is that they mainly offer small dishes, which is perfect for solo drinkers. You can order a variety of dishes, which is very convenient. The interior has standing counters, high tables, and regular tables, so you can choose based on your preference. I especially loved the Kachidoki skewers, and I ended up ordering about five skewers. The meat skewers made with zabuton were incredibly delicious, with a firm texture and rich flavor. The special sauce was also amazing, and I became a fan of it. It looks delicious even when poured over vegetables. The menu is really extensive, so I'll definitely be back to try more.

I was looking for a quick place to eat in Kyoto for work. I found one right after exiting the fifth exit of Gion Shijo Station and crossing the bridge over the Kamo River. It was crowded with tourists. Maybe it's because it's a tourist area, the taste was just average. The sea urchin and miso were delicious though. Most of the shops on this street are open only at night, so lunch was a rare find! Thank you for the meal.

The food can be ordered in small portions, which is just right. The specialty beef cutlet skewers are cost-effective! The sushi toppings were good, but the rice was hard and clumped together. The soft drinks were gone after just a few sips, so a little more would be nice. The service lacked attention to detail, as there were no small plates provided, even when serving soup... The staff did not apologize when they bumped into us or when the soy sauce spilled behind us, so I hope they pay more attention to customer service. The prices seem a bit high for the level of satisfaction, so I'm sorry to say that I won't be returning.

I was able to easily make a reservation at this restaurant (first visit) when it was impossible to get a reservation on the same day. About 80-90% of the customers were foreigners. The food, prices, and service were all geared towards inbound tourists. The quality of sashimi and sushi was disappointing. Japanese people should avoid this place. The cost performance is also terrible.

I made a reservation for two people at 7:00 PM on Sunday. We reserved a table seat, but it was a round table like a hub with a subtle height. Half of the customers were foreigners. The taste and menu were also geared towards foreigners, so as an Osaka local, I felt it was neither good nor bad!

I had sushi at "Sake to Niku Tempura Kachiten" located on the left side just after entering from the Shijo-dori side of Pontocho. Although the title of the restaurant does not mention sushi, they have a wide variety of menu options. There are also stylish cocktail drinks available, making it a popular spot for tourists. One customer from overseas mentioned that it took about 30 minutes for the order to arrive, but when they inquired with the staff, there was no response. However, the order arrived shortly after and the customer expressed their gratitude. You can order sushi starting from just one piece, but I opted for the 8-piece sushi set. The taste was good.

I ordered a sushi platter with 6 pieces, but the rice was so hard and dry that I wondered when it was made. I wouldn't recommend ordering sushi from this place for sure. However, the fried dishes were delicious, especially the fried onions and peppers, and the simmered daikon radish. The service from the staff was not bad.

I visited the restaurant at night. It seems that you often need to make a reservation to get in because it's a popular place. The beef skewers go really well with the spicy sauce they provide, so I always end up ordering them. They have a wide variety of drinks, including sake and shochu. It's a good idea to budget a little more for this place.

I was able to enter without a reservation. The inside of the restaurant was surprisingly spacious. I sat at the counter near the entrance, but the table was small and it was a bit cold. I wasn't expecting much from the sushi, but it was surprisingly delicious and had a good portion size!

I visited for the first time. The atmosphere of the restaurant seems to be targeted towards young people. It feels like they are aiming for college students... I could smell a strong desire to attract foreign customers as well. I think they should focus more on the taste and customer service rather than just appearance, and compete in authenticity. The prices are reasonable, so...

Course meal, all-you-can-drink for 5,000 yen per person. The tempura was delicious and the amberjack shabu-shabu was so thick that we couldn't finish it. Even though it's all-you-can-drink, the alcohol selection was also good. I will definitely visit again! Thank you to the staff (male) who served us.

First visit. A shop located just off 4th Street in Kyoto's Pontocho. I had tempura of eggplant, pumpkin, squid, and the shop's specialty, meat tempura. The vegetables were large and thick. The meat tempura was bite-sized and cost 120 yen each. It is eaten with a spicy sauce. Goes well with beer! I had a great time getting along with a Swiss family at the next table. There were so many foreigners in Kyoto. Thank you for the meal.

♡[Sake and Meat Tempura Kyoto Katsuten] ♡ Kyoto ❤️ Located in Kawaramachi ♡ Special overflowing sushi for 2,728 yen ♡ "Pontocho" is a narrow alley running north-south along the Kamo River for about 500 meters in Kyoto, with a charming townscape full of eateries lined up. ( ¨̮ )︎♡ I visited the "Sake and Meat Tempura Katsuten - KYOTO GATTEN- Pontocho Main Store" located on the first floor of the second building in Pontocho. ( ˘꒳˘) A new business style by Gorip who operates the beef cutlet specialty store "Kyoto Katsugyu" and other restaurant chains. The interior is a pure Japanese style that matches the atmosphere of Pontocho but has a stylish design, making it popular not only among Japanese but also foreign tourists. ( ఠ͜ఠ )♡ Perhaps that's why the menu was written in both Japanese and English. ( ´͈ ᵕ `͈ )♡ I ordered the "Special overflowing sushi" which is a luxurious sushi with lavish ingredients overflowing on top of a kappa roll. Sea urchin, tuna (medium fatty tuna), salmon roe, and crab are overflowing! (laughs) It's not easy to eat, but it definitely gets you excited, right? ദ്ദി˶ー̀֊ー́ ) The location is easy to find, so definitely give it a try·͜· ︎︎ᕷ♡

I received a course with all-you-can-drink option. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice with a mix of traditional and modern Japanese styles. All the dishes were delicious, especially the fried chicken and fried beef stomach. There were also many types of alcohol available, so I was very satisfied! Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I made a reservation and visited, but the restaurant was not crowded probably because it was a weekday. It was in the evening, and there were many young couples. The tempura was crispy and delicious! I only had tempura on an empty stomach without ordering sushi or anything else, so I ended up feeling full and couldn't eat much. Overall, it may sound rude, but there wasn't a compelling reason for me to come back to this restaurant. It may sound contradictory, but all the dishes were delicious.

The course meal for 4480 yen is incredibly filling. The seafood roll and soba alone were enough to make me full! I was satisfied with the meal. The meat tempura was a bit small, so I deducted a few points for that. However, it was cheap, and the quality of sashimi was high, so it deserves a high score! The appetizer with salmon and daikon radish was also a nice touch!

Near Gion Shijo Station, there is a narrow alley called Pontocho with a Kyoto-like atmosphere, lined with bars and restaurants. Starting with drinks, they had matcha beer and matcha mixed with sake, which felt very Kyoto-like. - Matcha beer: has a matcha aroma but tastes like beer. - Matcha mixed with sake: like matcha juice or latte with a shot of sake. It's sweet and very easy to drink. - Sushi platter with 8 varieties: included fatty tuna, tuna, salmon, scallops, squid, shrimp, amberjack, and salmon roe. - Tempura beef skewer: you can order just one skewer, and it was delicious. - Tempura black wagyu sirloin: looked good but was hard to chew halfway through. - Grilled amberjack collar: had delicious fatty meat. - Fried tofu: was okay. - Eggplant with meat miso tempura: freshly fried and tasty. - Chicken egg tempura: the egg was runny with some cartilage around it. Overall, it had a casual izakaya vibe.

I was invited by a friend to a place with a wide variety of Japanese sake cocktails, craft chu-hi, and other alcoholic drinks. The menu had options like tempura, sashimi, and sushi, making it hard to choose. I ended up ordering a mix of skewers, tempura, salmon tempura, salmon and ikura chirashi sushi, tsukune, and matcha ice cream. Everything was in bite-sized portions with a light and fluffy batter, and all were delicious. The salmon tempura, in particular, was cooked perfectly. ♡

Tempura and Meat Skewers at Kachiten Kyoto, located about a 5-minute walk from Kawaramachi Station in Kyoto, along Pontocho Street. The specialty dish here is the "Kachiten Kushi," which is tempura made from beef skewers. I ordered a set of 10, and even though I thought I might have ordered too much, I ended up finishing them in no time and even felt like I could eat another set or two. The tempura was so delicious that I felt like I could eat it endlessly! It was amazing! It's already delicious on its own, but when dipped in the special sauce, it becomes even more incredible! I would come back just to eat this! In addition to the meat skewers, they also offer other delicious tempura dishes like half-cooked chicken egg tempura, grilled chicken skin tempura, as well as fish tempura like tuna tempura, and side dishes like deep-fried tofu, all of which were equally delicious!

Sake and meat tempura at KYOTO GATTEN -KYOTO GATTEN-. The restaurant is bustling with female customers. There are counter seats, round tables for 3 people, and corner table seats. I was seated at a round table near the register. The interior is lively with lanterns. The background music is shamisen, creating a fun and enjoyable Japanese atmosphere.
Matcha beer 750 yen
Kachiten skewers (5 pieces) 600 yen
Special overflowing sushi 2,480 yen

The matcha beer has arrived. It has a distinctive green color that immediately gives away the matcha flavor. Surprisingly, it's easy to drink without any discomfort. The taste is a mix of matcha and beer, which I personally enjoyed.

The skewers (5 pieces) have arrived. They are dipped in a tangy and slightly spicy sauce with floating chili peppers. It's not too spicy in my opinion. There are additional chili peppers on the table, so you can add more according to your preference. The meat on the skewers is tender and easy to eat, perfect with alcohol. I like to eat them with the default sauce and yuzu salt.

The special overflowing sushi is here. It's the Instagram-worthy sushi I wanted. It consists of 8 rolls of cucumber rolls topped with negitoro, sea urchin, salmon roe, and crab meat. I was happy to see sea urchin, and even though it's a bit messy to eat, it's exciting. It's a bit pricey, but I can forgive that. I have work tomorrow, so I'll eat quickly and head home. The total for 3 dishes, including tax, was 4,213 yen, which is quite reasonable. Plus, you can use Go To Eat points to make the meal even more affordable. It was delicious, thank you for the meal.

It's a shame! It was my first visit to this restaurant, and I found the casual atmosphere reminiscent of a back alley, while the interior and chefs exuded a professional vibe. The background music featuring Tsugaru Shamisen added to the experience, making it a great place for foreigners and tourists. I ordered the tempura rice bowl, which came with large prawns and vegetables. The chef skillfully prepared it, but I found the sauce disappointing. It was a sugary, glossy eel sauce-like flavor. I believe it would be better if they offered a tempura dipping sauce for customers to use according to their preference, given the high quality of the tempura and the ambiance of the restaurant. The sashimi ordered by others looked delicious, so I am considering trying the sushi next time.
