I revisited a restaurant that impressed me with its polite customer service and delicious paella. I heard that they placed 3rd in last year's International Paella Competition Japan Qualifiers. They are participating again this year, and I hope they win and get to travel to Spain! This time, I visited with 4 people and we used a private room for the 5800 yen lunch course. - Seasonal Tapas Platter with 9 items: 1. Olive salad and cured mackerel 2. Turbot carpaccio 3. Spanish omelette with homemade seven spice 4. Mushroom Segovia style stuffed with garlic and bacon, baked in the oven 5. Wild boar pate with country bread 6. Salmon marinated with potato salad 7. Kachos - tripe and chickpea tomato stew (the tripe was tender and delicious) 8. Fugu cream croquette 9. Winter vegetable potage with sake lees flavor (gentle and tasty) - Beef tail red wine stew and beef loin roast (perfect for the cold weather) - Today's recommended paella: 1. Iberico pork and Kujo green onion paella 2. Oyster and mantis shrimp with squid ink paella (only 2 types this time, but the ingredients were plentiful and satisfying) - Dessert: 1. Spanish milk pudding 2. Chocolate terrine (very smooth and rich) - Coffee or herbal tea

This is a Spanish restaurant located in a traditional townhouse. I had the lunch course this time. The contents included 9 seasonal tapas, roasted Kuro Ryugin pork, today's recommended paella, and today's dessert. The tapas were appetizers, including spring-like dishes with bamboo shoots and asparagus. The pate was made from wild boar meat, and the mushrooms were juicy. The Kuro Ryugin pork for the roast was raised by mixing it with Kuro Ryugin sake from Fukui. It was served with a sauce made with chorizo and paprika, along with shiitake mushrooms. For the paella, you could choose between squid ink paella with long-legged prawns and firefly squid, or eel paella. I chose the squid ink paella, which was made using Shiga rice instead of Spanish rice for more consistent cooking. It had a sticky texture and was quite filling. The dessert was a Basque cheesecake made with new tea. For drinks after the meal, you could choose between coffee and herbal tea. The herbal tea used red perilla. The staff's service was polite, but it was disappointing that even arriving on time for the reservation, I had to wait over 20 minutes for the first dish, and the time between dishes being served was quite long.

In May, during the lively weather of Golden Week, I visited the popular Spanish restaurant Estilo Arache in Kyoto with a budget of 6000 yen. I had a great time with a companion who was either charming or funny, making conversation easy and helping my small appetite. We enjoyed dishes such as grilled eel with black dragon junmai pork and paella with hand-picked shrimp and firefly squid ink. The chef, who placed third in a national paella competition, showcased their skills with delicious dishes. I would love to visit again for a leisurely meal.

I visited in October ✨ Congratulations on your 1st anniversary! I came to celebrate! It's a wonderful restaurant, so I recommend everyone to visit together. There were three of us, and we had a great time. The chef was popular, making it seem like he was surrounded by admirers. The paella was exquisite, with luxurious ingredients like lobster on this day. The chef and staff created a cozy and enjoyable atmosphere. The variety of tapas served as appetizers was also a charming feature. The budget is around 10,000 yen. Reservations can be made by phone. The next visit is undecided, but let's go together next time! #DeliciousFun #EstiloArache #Kyoto #KyotoSpanish #KyotoSpanishCuisine #KyotoDinner #KyotoLunch #KyotoGourmet #KyotoSightseeing #KyotoTravel #Gourmet #WantToConnectWithFoodLovers #WantToConnectWithKyotoLovers #DeliciousFood #WantToConnectWithFoodLovers #Foodstagram #GourmetStagram #KyotoFoodTour #KyotoDate #SpanishCuisine #KyotoImperialPalace #WantToConnectWithFoodLovers #FoodTour #YassanGourmet

Sometimes when I have a meal in Kyoto, I always find myself saying out loud, "This place feels like a different world, Kyoto is amazing." This time was no exception. Located in Marutamachi, this restaurant is a traditional Kyoto-style house. It's a bit different from the old house shops in Fukushima, Osaka... well, it's just a preconceived notion and image, though. The restaurant is located on the second floor of the house, with private rooms and counter seats available. The counter seats are quite lovely. They serve various elaborate dishes like Flower Crab Paella, which is Spanish cuisine. It's a perfect place to enjoy a leisurely meal in Kyoto. I don't know when I'll come back again, but it's definitely worth a visit.

Last summer, on August 16th in Kyoto during the Bon Festival, which also happens to be my birthday, my son, who knows how much I love Spain, came back from Tokyo and treated me to this restaurant. The traditional machiya building exudes a calm Kyoto atmosphere, which perfectly complements the Spanish cuisine and adds to the excitement. The private room we were seated in created a special and intimate setting. Each dish was carefully crafted with a focus on quality ingredients, not only pleasing to the taste buds but also visually appealing. The staff even surprised me with a birthday cake after our meal, showing their warmth and hospitality. Thank you for making my birthday so memorable. I look forward to visiting again, this time sitting at the counter for a more casual experience.

Thank you for participating in the meal gathering♪ It was a fun meal with 5 people. We requested a special course for 15,000 yen, including ingredients like the "Red Devil" Carabineiro, thanks to the chef's generosity. The food was delicious, and the chef's hospitality made us feel at ease, allowing for lively conversations. The restaurant's hidden gem ambiance was also lovely. #EstiloArache #estiloh #Kyoto #KyotoCity #KyotoSpanishCuisine #KyotoSpanish #KyotoDinner #KyotoLunch #KyotoGourmet #KyotoSightseeing #KyotoTravel #Gourmet #WantToConnectWithGourmetLovers #WantToConnectWithKyotoLovers #DeliciousFood #WantToConnectWithFoodLovers #Foodstagram #Gourmetstagram #KyotoFoodCrawl #GoshoNishi #GoshoNishiGourmet #KyotoDate #KyotoGourmet #KyotoFood #Japan #JapaneseFood #WantToConnectWithFoodLovers #FoodCrawl #YassanGourmet.

During the day, it seems that paella lunch is the main option. The price varies depending on the number of items. It appears that you can also choose from courses for dinner. I ordered the full course paella lunch. It started with a soup appetizer followed by a freshly shaved ham salad. The acidity of the dressing and the saltiness of the ham were perfect. Then came the skillet omelette, cooked to perfection. The paella was made with lobster, offering a perfect balance of richness and the acidity of lemon and tomato. Every dish was excellent, and I definitely want to visit this restaurant regularly. It's not easy to find a place that serves delicious paella, so I am very happy about this find.

I visited Estilo Ache with my girlfriend for our first meal of the new year. I had been curious about this restaurant since it opened. I was really looking forward to the paella, and it exceeded my high expectations. The lobster paella was delicious and truly impressed me. The tapas assortment was also fantastic, each dish was delicious and satisfying. The lunch prices are quite reasonable, so I highly recommend it for lunch as well. #EstiloAche #SpanishCuisine #KyotoSpanishCuisine #KyotoGourmet #KyotoDinner #KyotoLunch #Marutamachi #Gosominami #KyotoNewRestaurant #Paella #Tabelog #TabelogHighRating #Foodies #Foodstagram #FoodLovers #FoodiesConnect #GourmetStagram

I visited for lunch! I made a reservation for the 5000 yen lunch course. [Course contents this time] Tapas assortment, prosciutto salad, red wine braised lamb, paella (you could choose from 3 types), sake lees cheesecake, coffee or herbal tea. The tapas assortment with 9 items was a surprising dish packed with elements of Spain and Japan! I couldn't help but order a beer (lol). And the paella this time was Iberico pork paella with an additional egg topping for +100 yen! My stomach was full and satisfied! The staff were very cheerful! Eating Spanish cuisine in a lovely machiya space was refreshing and enjoyable! Dinner seems to have a different atmosphere from lunch, so I definitely want to visit for dinner next time!

I feel that it is a new genre of Spanish cuisine. Estilo Ache, which recently opened in Gosho-minami. The chef referred to it as "Kyoto Espanol." True to this concept, the first dish served was tempura of olive marinated in dashi. Next to it was a dish of anglerfish broth, which is used to cook paella even in this season. The next tapas dish was a beautiful assortment of 9 tapas. It was a perfect fusion of Japanese and Spanish cuisine, making it a dish that you could enjoy while drinking for a long time. Another surprising idea was the stick salad made with Ohara vegetables instead of bread. It was served with a dip sauce made from yuba and sesame, which was exquisite. The paella featured spiny lobster, with a rich umami flavor and aroma. Just when I was starting to feel full, they brought out their specialty, "Paella Chazuke." The rich umami flavor spread nicely in the broth and soaked into my body filled with sake. It felt like enjoying kappo cuisine with Spanish dishes. It was a new discovery to pair Spanish cuisine with Japanese sake. I will definitely be coming back again.

In the prestigious dining area of Gosho Minami in Kyoto, the Italian restaurant "Ludens" has opened a new restaurant on the second floor that exudes new charm. Dinner offers only course meals (¥10,000), while lunch, available only on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, offers a paella set, showcasing authentic Spanish cuisine. I visited on a sunny afternoon in mid-November 2021. As I ascended the stairs past the first floor "Ludens," I was warmly greeted by the chef and a supportive female staff member. The main seating area features an open kitchen counter, with beautiful persimmon tannin wallpaper created by the renowned Japanese paper artist Wataru Hatano, harmonizing well with the ceiling beams. For lunch that day, diners could choose between the original ham salad or tortilla, then select from three types of paella as the main dish. I opted for the tortilla and the chef's recommended paella, starting with the tortilla, which had a creamy egg center complemented by a balanced mix of potatoes. While the omelet itself was mildly seasoned, when paired with the provided dip, it achieved just the right amount of flavor. Sprinkling the homemade seven-spice powder added a slightly spicy kick. The chef's recommended paella, featuring chicken and mushrooms, was truly outstanding, with a rich concentration of rice stock and the umami flavors of the ingredients blending seamlessly. I added a cheesecake for ¥300, which, while not as impressive as the paella, was still satisfying. In total, the tortilla, chicken and mushroom paella, and cheesecake came to ¥3,000. The vegetable paella option is priced at ¥2,200. I had a brief chat with the chef, who shared that he honed his craft at "La Paella" in Matsugasaki, Kyoto, and "Restaurante Amador" in Andalusia, Malaga, before returning to Kyoto. He was recommended for the chef position at this new establishment due to his close relationship with the owner-chef of "Ludens." The chef is also a sake sommelier and Sake Diploma holder, emphasizing Japanese sake pairings. The restaurant is run by the chef and a supportive female staff member, both of whom left a positive impression with their attentive and friendly service. The menu displayed in the restaurant featured dishes such as snow crab and red sea bream, leaving a lasting impression with its ambiance and atmosphere. While Spanish restaurants in Kyoto are typically more casual, "Ludens" offers the opportunity to enjoy dishes prepared with expertise from the original Spanish restaurant in Malaga. The paella set lunch is available on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, starting from ¥2,200. The evening course, which currently consists of around 10 items for ¥10,000, promises an even higher level of satisfaction.
