"Da.uchi Curry," which was operating as a sublease at "Sakamune Nishikawa" in Horikawa Marutamachi, Kyoto (now relocated to Kawaramachi Gojo store), has moved to the former cafe "katte" on the west side of Kamogawa Aragamibashi and opened a physical store. The menu features original curries created by the male owner, who previously worked as a sommelier at a French restaurant, incorporating French elements and spices. The menu includes 3-4 rotating curry options available as individual servings (1100 yen) or a combination of three (1700 yen) with salad included. They also offer a selection of wines (glass 900 yen / red-white wine set 1500 yen), non-alcoholic wines, canned beers, and desserts. On the day of my visit, the daily curry options included three varieties: "Cream Curry with Red Shrimp," "Pork with Vinegar Flavor," and "Japanese Beef Neck Bourguignon Style (+300 yen)" as a combination of three. Starting with the salad served first, each curry had a unique blend of spices with a European-style stewed taste. The Japanese Beef Neck Bourguignon Style was particularly noteworthy for its tender, well-stewed Japanese beef neck. Among the three, the "Cream Curry with Red Shrimp" stood out for its high satisfaction level and harmonious flavors. The spacious interior features a counter and four tables, creating a relaxed atmosphere reminiscent of the former cafe. One striking detail was a painting on the wall depicting a woman pouring milk, replaced with curry instead of milk in the artwork inspired by Vermeer's work "The Milkmaid." As indicated at the beginning of the menu, the restaurant offers original spice curries infused with French essence, characterized by a mild level of spiciness and rich European-style flavors, making it enjoyable for a wide range of curry lovers, from those who prefer less spicy options to traditional curry enthusiasts. The male owner handles the cooking, while a female staff member manages the front of the house, both presenting a pleasant and stylish demeanor. It was a delightful experience, reflecting the depth and quality achieved during their time as a sublease, and I recommend visiting "Da.uchi Curry" at their new physical store in Aragamiguchi for lunch or, on Fridays and Saturdays, for dinner.
