Visited a restaurant in Kyoto during a trip with my child. Luckily, a corner seat in the back tatami room was available and perfect for my 10-month-old. They kindly warmed up the baby food and served it in a child-friendly container. I ordered their famous curry meat udon and udon with raw yuba sauce. The curry meat udon had a delicious Kyoto-style dashi soup with no spiciness, but be careful as the curry powder on the side is quite spicy. The sweet meat topping and udon were tasty. The udon with raw yuba sauce had a gentle flavor with a hint of ginger in the soup, which paired perfectly with the raw yuba. I didn't have high expectations since it's located near a tourist spot, but it turned out to be a delicious restaurant. Locals also seemed to frequent the place.

On the second day of the business trip, we took a day off and went sightseeing in Kyoto. Despite still feeling the effects of the previous night's drinking and lack of sleep, touring around was quite tough! We visited Yasaka Shrine and Kodai-ji Temple, and then went to a nearby soba restaurant called "Shigemori." Since it was a slightly early lunch, we were able to get in without waiting in line. I had heard that their curry udon was famous, but due to the heat and fatigue, I opted for the refreshing "Yamakake Soba." We had all sweated a lot, so we quenched our thirst with some draft beer. The soba had a nice chewy texture, and the grated yam added a strong stickiness that was very delicious. Cold soba tastes even better in the summer, right? This business trip, which was half work and half play, was a very enjoyable one with great communication with the team. Thank you for the delicious meal!

At Kyoto's "Shigemori" restaurant, I had authentic soba for lunch. The "Nishin Soba 1000 yen" had a perfect match of herring flavor with soba. The "Inari 300 yen" also paired well with the soba with its sweet seasoning.

Beef curry udon. It was delicious. But, as expected in a tourist spot, a bit pricey at 950 yen.

A noodle shop in the street. It's convenient because it's near my house and my whole family can go there. The curry udon was delicious. I highly recommend it.

The family had curry ramen and mushroom soba. The curry ramen had just the right amount of spiciness and the thin noodles mixed well with the curry. The mushroom soba with crispy mushroom tempura was delicious.

The other day, when I went back to my hometown, I stopped by the Kyoto National Museum to see the National Treasure Exhibition. It was so crowded with people... Kyoto is always busy at this time of year. Anyway, after visiting the Otani Mausoleum near Kiyomizu-zaka, I found this restaurant on Higashioji-dori on my way up to Shijo. Even though it was almost 2 o'clock, there were 3 groups waiting ahead of me. Well, Kyoto, especially this area, is always crowded. But I was really hungry since it was already past lunchtime! I waited for about 15 minutes and finally got a seat. I ordered the famous beef curry udon set. The food was served quite quickly, which was great for someone like me who was getting impatient. The taste of the dashi broth from Kansai was really good. The green onions from Kujo were also very Kyoto-like. The meat was also quite delicious. I finished my meal in no time! The only thing I would complain about is that they provided paper aprons, which was nice, but they didn't have the type that ties around the neck, so my neck was exposed... Even though I tried to be careful while eating, the broth still splashed on me... _| ̄|○

Theme: Kyoto. Category: Mother-daughter trip♪・Solo trip♪ I had always wanted to try curry udon in Kyoto. For lunch, I headed to Shigemori in Kiyomizu, which is famous for its curry udon. Shigemori in Kiyomizu Curry Udon "Chopped Curry Udon" 780 yen Their specialty is curry meat udon, but since I like fried tofu, I chose this one without hesitation. It comes with plenty of sweetly simmered chopped fried tofu. The combination of the Japanese-style broth curry udon and the chopped fried tofu was excellent. It was very delicious, especially when eaten with plenty of chopped green onions on top. The portion size was also generous. It was a warm day with a hint of early summer, but I enjoyed the meal with great satisfaction.

I went on a one-night trip to Kyoto with my son, who is a university student. On the first day, we visited Shogunzuka to enjoy the view of Kyoto, then went to Otani to pay our respects to my grandparents and father. It was very cold, with snowflakes falling. We stayed at a hotel called Higashiyamakan, so we had lunch nearby. I wanted to try the cafeteria at Kyoto Women's University, but my son vetoed that idea. Instead, we found a highly-rated restaurant serving curry udon. The parking space was limited, but we were lucky to find a spot. The restaurant was small, and the recommended dish was curry udon, which was a bit pricey. I decided to try their egg bowl, as I've been into that dish lately. The curry udon was spicy, with a thick broth. My son found it too spicy. The egg bowl had a creamy egg topping with onions, which I didn't particularly like. Overall, the meal was satisfying and warm. Next, I'll continue with more stories from my Kyoto trip.

There is a statue in front of the station, and I live in a place related to Ryoma Sakamoto, but I don't know much about him. So, I am reading "Ryoma ga Yuku" by Ryotaro Shiba. I am about to finish the 5th volume. In January, I spent half a day in Kyoto visiting historical sites related to Ryoma. I visited Hamaguri Gate, Ikedaya Inn site, Tosa Clan Residence site, and Tosa Inari Shrine. Before heading to Reizan Gokoku Shrine where Ryoma rests, I had lunch at "Shigemori" restaurant. I ordered their famous Curry Beef Udon for 930 yen. The dish came in a mostly brown bowl with green onions and orange carrots adding color. The sweetened beef and spicy curry paired well together. The curry didn't taste too spicy at first, but I started sweating gradually as I ate. The udon was flexible and stretchy. It was delicious. Despite the cold weather where I couldn't let go of my umbrella, the customer service was pleasant, and I enjoyed warming up in a calm atmosphere.

The chubby god has descended!! The "Curry Meat Udon Rice" I had here was like it was made just for me!! Curry udon and curry rice joined hands with cheese as their companion!! I felt a surge of excitement like when Goku and Piccolo fought Raditz. It looks like regular curry udon, but underneath there's rice covered in cheese. The staff recommended eating the udon first before the rice so the flavors don't mix, and they were right. I finished all the noodles first, then tried the rice. The gooey cheese-covered rice mixed with curry was delicious. It's like adding rice to the leftover soup in a pot, eating the rice with the soup was a perfect combination. Even though the curry soup and udon were good on their own, this unique dish won me over. I, a chubby person, was already full with just this dish and a beer. Highly recommend this innovative dish that won with its creativity.

I visited a udon restaurant a little up from Tojo Gojo Street on the east side. It is conveniently located near the local government office and police station, making it a convenient stop for locals or for those visiting the Otani Mausoleum or Kiyomizu Temple. The interior of the restaurant was spacious with a sunken seating area on the left and counter and table seating on the right. The recommended dish was curry udon, but I opted for the cold mountain soba for 700 yen. The dish came with plenty of egg, seaweed, green onions, and wasabi powder. The broth was also served generously, but I tried the soba with just a little broth at first and found it to be firm and nicely chilled. I then tried it with green onions and wasabi like zaru soba, and finally mixed everything together for a delicious meal. I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices considering the location.

While strolling around the area near Kiyomizu-dera Temple, I decided to stop by "Shigemori" along Higashioji-dori. The prices at tourist spots can sometimes be a concern, but seeing the menu displayed outside the restaurant put me at ease. It seems that their specialty is "Curry Niku Udon," so I decided to go for the set with rice for ¥950. A staff member came out to greet me as I was deciding, and led me inside. The interior was quiet, with no music or TV, and had a clean and spacious feel with 5 tables, 8 counter seats, and several raised seating areas. Despite it being past lunchtime, I was the only customer, which felt a bit lucky. The staff kindly suggested I sit at a larger table, so I chose a 6-seater in the back. The restaurant seemed to have been featured on NHK and other TV broadcasts, with notices posted around. After about 10 minutes, my order of "Curry Niku Udon," rice, and pickles arrived. The curry bowl was larger than average, providing a satisfying amount of food. The curry had a thick consistency, not too spicy, and suited the Japanese (Kyoto?) taste - safe and enjoyable. The meat was well cooked, flavorful, and the noodles were tasty. The staff checked in on me frequently, offering tea and ensuring I was enjoying the meal. I finished off by mixing the curry sauce with rice, a delicious ending to the meal. At the end, the staff provided me with a map and kindly pointed out nearby tourist spots. Overall, it's a place where female and tourist customers can feel at ease. Rating: 3.5 stars (73/100)

When walking to the Ootani Mausoleum in Higashiyama for a visit to the grave, a friendly shop owner warmly invited us in. After finishing our visit, he asked us what we were going to have for lunch. Remembering the owner's smile, we decided to go in with our family. The specialty seemed to be "Enma-sama's Curry Udon," but it was hot outside so I wanted something refreshing, so I chose "Tenzaru Udon." The udon had a nice chewiness, and the dipping sauce was rich and flavorful. The most impressive part was the hot and crispy vegetable tempura, which I enjoyed with plenty of matcha salt. The only disappointing thing was that, as is common in shops that serve both udon and soba, there were a few pieces of soba mixed in with the udon. I don't have any allergies so it was fine for me, but it's something to be aware of for those who do. The owner was kind to the students on a school trip, and his smile was the best part of the experience.
