Today, I went to Kabuki, a dining hall near JR and Keihan Higashifushimi Station. I wonder what kind of place this is. Exciting! After getting off at Keihan Electric Railway Higashifushimi Station and walking straight ahead, you'll see a Family Mart on your left. Then you'll hit a one-way street. When you look to your left, you'll see the sign for the restaurant in less than a minute. It's a great property near the station. Just kidding, not a real estate ad (laughs). The sign of the restaurant reads "Goshokujidokoro Kabuki 561-6555." A simple sign, indeed. The exterior of the restaurant has a showcase on the left side and the entrance in the middle. A delivery bike is parked outside, indicating that you can dine in or get delivery. Looking at the showcase, you'll find Western dishes on the top shelf and rice bowls/noodles on the bottom. It seems like a place where you can enjoy both Western and Japanese cuisine. The B lunch set looks appealing. I think I'll go for that. I'm quite hungry. Let's go inside. On the table, there was a menu for Western dishes. The other side had Japanese dishes, mainly noodles and rice bowls. This time, I ordered the B lunch set for 950 yen. It arrived on a tray with rice. It came with a fork, knife, and chopsticks, which is nice. It feels like a local diner. The B lunch set includes shrimp fry, hamburger, and pork sauté on one plate. It also comes with spaghetti, potatoes, salad, and tomatoes. Let's start with the hamburger. The texture and taste are a bit off. I got a bit tired of it halfway through. Next, the shrimp fry. It lacked tartar sauce, so I added some from the table. The taste was... not quite right for me. Lastly, the pork sauté. Among the three, this was the best. The seasoning was a bit strong for my liking. I wanted some soup, but it wasn't on the menu. Corn soup, potage... oh, maybe onion soup would be nice. I hope they consider adding it to the menu. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was clean and cozy. The staff, two ladies and one man, were friendly. The service and ambiance were good. It truly felt like a local diner. I had the Western dishes this time, but next time, I might go for the Chinese noodles. I have a soft spot for diner ramen. I wonder what it's like here.
